Well, the Vikings did not place the franchise tag on Sam Darnold, which most of us knew would be the case. The click-bait journalist types will have to think of something else to talk about. I see ESPN predicted that the Vikings would try to sign Carson Wentz, which would make me very happy. I think he can play at a high level in the right situation. Plus, he’s from North Dakota, which instantly puts him above other players.
We’ll have about a week of dead time. The ‘legal tampering’ period begins on March 10 at 11 am central time, and free agency opens when the new league year begins on March 12 at 3 pm central time. Until then, it’ll be lots of click bait headlines and lots of speculation. We’ll be here to talk smack about it all.

The Vikings did NOT use the franchise tag on Sam Darnold prior to yesterday’s deadline, and continue to try to work out a deal to keep the QB in Minnesota, per the Star-Tribune.
Also at the Strib, how Jared Allen wound up with the number 69. He is the only player in the hall of fame with that number. True story, at my corporate gig, I wore my Jared Allen jersey to work one day, and some Karen at work was offended by it.
At Vikings.com, when reflecting on the hall of fame, Jared Allen remembers relationships over stats.

From NFL.com, the Eagles signed Saquon Barkley to a two-year extension worth $41.2 million.
The Jets released WR Davante Adams after they couldn’t find a trade partner, per NFL.com.

It’s a video game, popular with the kids especially. My kiddo & his friends play, & it reignited the gamer in me. Now I play it with them a lot, it’s lots of fun. Gives us something to do when it’s below zero.

Thinking we’re gonna go hard after Milton Williams. Also wouldn’t mind a little Mississippi Mustache coming in as QB2 – rather have Minshew than Mullens or Wentz. Really hoping the high rankings we received as an overall organization payoff with a blue-chip FA or two. We’ll see.
I think it’s inevitable that KAM trades out of 1.24 – likely out of the 1st round all together to try and get a few day 2 picks. Can’t really move up, can’t see them moving anyone that would net much – Maybe Addison but he’s proven himself on the field with a high ceiling.
Seeing clickbait reports that Minny should go after Davante Adams to help ease the loss of Addison with his suspension looming – a 2025 version of ‘Three Deep’ – would be fun in Madden, but disastrous in reality imo. We need a better WR3 than Nailor – too many drops. But I think we can find one in FA that will be much cheaper. And a better fit. Adams still sees himself as an Alpha – not on this team.
FA weekend frenzy upon us soon – we’ll know more by this weekend.

Williams is only 290 lbs, we need a huge, blocking eating NT that can push the OC back into the pocket. IMHO.
Back up QBs are not that important, KOC will fix any of them given enough time. Find one that has the physical skills but it broke between the ears ala Sammy D. Check the trash heap and pick one up that can be a backup to JJ (QB).
Chiefs are trading Joe Thuney to the Bears for a 2026 4th round pick. Second O-lineman trade in two days for the Bears.
Seems like a deal we could have made.
Hopefully KAM figures he has a better fix all ready to go.

This logic against Tag and Trade for Sam makes sense, there would have to be a deal in place with the Vikings, Sam, and Gaining Team for a Tag and Trade to be possible.

People thinking it’s possible and relatively an easy thing to do, are misguided.
Too many parts have to play out for it to work.
Too risky if you are not willing to accept the consequences.
If the market for Sam was strong enough it might have been worth the risk. At $40M options would not have been great.
Maybe if some teams loses their QB in Training Camp or Pre Season they may get desperate enough to bite the bullet ala Sam Bradford.

I was just thinking that if at the peak (admittedly, my peak is more like a North Dakota butte) of my physical fitness and was tasked at the safety position as the sole person standing between Adrian Peterson and the end zone 90 yards away that I might be able to bring him down one time in one thousand tries…that may be an exaggeration…maybe like 1 in a million.

Latest stats I can find on Aaron Jones is 5′ 9″ and 207 lbs.

i didn’t realize Aaron Jones was so short. Josh Jacobs is only 5’10. Runs bigger than that imo.
Aaron Jones gets hurt and sits out awhile in almost every game.
He is also over 30 and has a lot of NFL miles on that body.
Skatterbo is younger and 12 lbs heavier now and can put on more muscle.
I would take a shot at him if he falls into the 5th round.

If he obtains ‘big guys’ in FA and the 1st round of the draft I can see getting a Skattebo with one of our 5ths if he would be considerate enough to fall that far.
Our 3rd round comp pick should be used to shore up DPs or any trench guys we might be lacking in depth. IMHO but I know almost nothing as far as who will be available when we are on the clock.
So all of this “talk about a contract” is just clickbait BS.
I find it hard to believe there wouldn’t be much of a market for the top FA QB who is only 27.

I think Buttbury is a lost cause.
I think he is a ‘decent’ OC except with one major weakness, the ability to stand up to bullrushes from elite DTs.
Opponents know about this weakness and exploit it when possible.
KOC mitigates it as much as he can but it still causes problems. It would be nice to find someone who can stand up to those bullrushes but they might have weaknesses in other areas.

flying almost anywhere out of Bismarck is a nightmare. I could’ve gotten economy tickets for $317, but I like sitting towards the front. That way, if the plane crashes, I die quickly, and I don’t have to be bothered with trying to help others.

Small but mighty. We like the Bismarck airport. Only problem for someone from God’s time zone is if you catch that 5 am flight out of BIS you are setting your alarm for 2 am Mountain time. Bonus is you never have to worry about traffic in Bismarck at 0330 local time.
