After playing one of the worst teams in the NFL last week, the Vikings play arguably the best team in the NFL this week, as the Chiefs come to U.S. Bank Stadium. Kickoff is at 3:25. With this team, you just never know what to expect. Trying to judge the outcome of the game based on the opponent is foolish, as the Vikings excel at losing games they should win, and winning games that they should lose. We’ll find out in a few days!

If you are watching the games, you’ll see we’re running a lot of plays where the O-line is keeping as many as three Tight Ends in to block. So this stat is a bit misleading. KOC has realized his five O-linemen get beat way too easily and often. He is bringing TE’s and even additional linemen in at times to get better protection for Cousins, and better run blocking for the RB’s. It is a good formula, so far.
His 5 lineman don’t get beat way too easy or their pass block win rate would not be top 5.
Also having 3 TEs is called 13P and that is an extremely common goal line formation designed to get the WR into single coverage while being a run friendly formation due to the extra holes it opens up.
Kirk cousins is getting blitzed on 30% of his dropbacks. You need to keep an extra man in against the blitz packages that keep getting run against us. This pick up by Mattison was exactly like the time they brought 6 and we did not pick it up. There’s way too many times a free man levels Kirk. Usually because we set the protection wrong or did not keep anyone in to block. Mattison barely gets there to make the block.

BSF, our O-line scores are higher because we’re keeping 7 and even 8 people in to block and running two man routes. Not every play of course, but I counted 8 such occurrences against the Panthers. O-line that consists of 7 guys blocking 5 is going to look real good.

The Chiefs opened the season by scoring 20 points and losing to the Lions 21-20. Then they played the Jaguars and scored 17 points and won. Then they played the Bears and kicked the shit out of them 41-10. Sunday night they barely beat the Jets 23-20.
I think the Vikings can beat the Chiefs. They have averaged 20 points in three of their four games. We can put 28 up on the Chiefs. I know we can. There is a chance here folks.

I always wear ear plugs at concerts and band practice. I had the other guitarist one time I said you need to turn up and he’s like, shit bro, I like my hearing. I was like just wear ear plugs you dummy. The drummer is very loud which is a good thing but we need to be able to hear each other lol.
Of course they could win, games at home, Chiefs seem to be working through some things. Mahomes just played the worst I’ve ever seen him, but that jets defense is at a level well above the Vikings. IMO the Vikings need to shut down Pacheco immediately, if he’s running effectively their entire offense is completely different. Also it will help if Swift doesn’t attend the game, the refs seem to miss obvious calls when she is there.
I agree with the need to shut down Pacheco – he’s an impressive runner and tough to bring down. You know what you’re going to get with Kelce & Mahomes. Stopping Mahomes from scrambling on 3rd and anything is key IMO. Pressure, pressure, pressure – problem is you’ll have to blitz to do it and that’s when Mahomes eats defenses alive – in particular finding Kelce. Flores is known for lots of pre-snap movement and I bet he’ll have guys jumping around the line in an effort to confuse Mahomes.

I know there are all kinds of metrics out there that I don’t understand, so I look at the simple ones.
Minnesota Vikings Defense ranks 7th in yards per play, 13th in total yards, and 19th in scoring defense. Not bad, Not bad at all.
Minnesota Vikings Offense ranks 3rd in yards per play, 9th in total yards, and 16th in scoring offense.
And first in turnovers
And that is the problem, but I think the yards per play stats are important. This is a good football team, just needs to clean up the turnovers.
Yes turnovers have been the problem this year. Your commentary (to me) shows the Vikings don’t suck, they have just suffered some serious misfortune at inopportune times. Two of the three turnovers (interceptions) at the goal line were very close to being TD’s and the head coach wants to take those chances. Just really unfortunate turn of events that the risk taken, turned out to be in the opponents favor. The interception at the goal line this past Sunday, was a bad mistake. That ball should have been thrown away. The team rallied though and garnered a win despite that bad mistake with the ball. The fumbles also cost us scores as we all know. The Vikings could be 4-0 and in the top three in the league in scoring, without the turnovers. So… in my opinion, the Vikings are a good team, that just needs to get their shit together.

In college I listened to them a bit. Saw them live but haven’t really revisited them.
i’ve been listening to some of the bands i used to listen to and i’m re-digging them.
they had some good albums
The more hardcore with some scremo elements is tough for me. There was just an era where that was literally everything coming out. So I just went a checked out a few songs since you brought them back up. Good stuff there is just SO much out there that if it doesn’t totally grip me I move on lol. I really struggle for some reason with guitar tones that are on the thinner tone side which many hard core influenced bands have. Thicker tones like Killswitch Engage grip me more.
yup killswitch is very very good. typically the band i listened to as i got ready for my baseball games in college..
you are way more versed in “tone” stuff than me. i don’t know much about all that, but that’s probably why i can get into some bands and not others. i just don’t know it on your level.
The first thing I notice when listening to music with a guitar… is the guitar haha. Then the drums and bass. To the point of what tuning are they in, what kind of snare are they using, etc… It helps me get lost in the music and turn my brain off from focusing on life shit by dissecting the music lol. Or just rocking the fuck out haha.
