Man, we had our first night of rookie division baseball practice last night. I sure enjoy coaching the kids, they’re a lot of fun at 8 years old when they’re in that stage of rapid progress, you can really make a lot of progress with them in a couple of months. I have a deep love for the game of baseball, and there isn’t anything much more fun than hanging out with the kiddos and having fun. What a night.
After practice, we made the discovery that Dairy Queen sells gluten-free Dilly Bars. I was not aware of this very important fact until last night, and I now feel more complete. This is a close second to learning about gluten-free Oreos.

I liked Peterson, and Thielen too. Liked Z. Smith as well. No way was KAM keeping guys this year. Cousins is gone in 2024 as well, no matter what he does, and KAM won’t get anything but a $28.5M cap hit for him. In the end though one thing is crystal clear. No player friendly deals. If you play for the Vikings, you are not beloved and valued. You’re just a guy they can waive, cut, or trade any time they want.
All teams are like that with being cut anytime they want. The Kirk cap hit exists no matter what but they will not get nothing, they’ll get at least a third round comp pick. I like dalvin too but he’s not worth his cap hit.

I think (my opinion) that Cousins will have another highly productive year. Why? Because he’s good, that’s why. He’s also a good egg, and he will thank the Vikings and compliment the coaching staff for the rest of his career. He still speaks positively about his experience with the Redskins whose GM never called him by his real name for God’s sake. They low balled him, told the press he was a career back-up and turnover machine to justify their low ball contract offers, and basically said nothing good about him or his play. Yet Cousins says very good things about the Redskins organization and opportunities they gave him to this day. He complimented Zimmer last year when the media was trying to get him to say how much better the environment was now.

Yeah I didn’t fit in in my rural Appalachian upbringing. They took me hunting…sat me up down by the creek in the kill spot, went up on the ridges and walked along the top. Stock battery on my 2019 ram finally shit the bed on my over the lunch break. Glad it did it in the summer. Called AAA who tested it and confirmed, gave me a boost and I went to Interstate Battery, got a new one 800 CCA and 6 year warranty. $230, but shouldn’t have to worry about it as long as I plan on keeping the truck.

To be honest, when I played Madden ’23 with kiddo, it was the first time I’d played it since 2008. Vince Young was on the cover the last time I played.
Great version. VY was fun to play with. My favorite Madden QB of all time is Steve McNair back on the All-Time teams from 05-09? Strong arm, mobile and tough to bring down.
I wanted to play a couple of my old favorites with my son. Neither was available on XBox or Nintendo Switch, so I said eff it & found an old PS2 console. It’s the only one that’ll play both Twisted Metal and SSX 2 Tricky. Two of the best games of all-time. Now we have a PS2 in the garage to go along with the other 2 consoles downstairs.
I’d also recommend the MLB game from that era – Manny Ramirez on the cover. Great game, fun to play. Was a big fan of Siphon Filter back in the day on the PS1. Just ordered a vintage NES pack with Tecmo SB, Mike Tyson’s Punch Out and the original Tetris. Console re-fitted to HDMI format, 2 controllers and 3 games for $189.
Tecmo Super Bowl is easily the best football video game ever – and I’m a Madden junkie. Zero load time, and one of the first games to keep season long stats.

Probably my favorite picture of her. This was taken maybe 5 minutes after she had an hour-long meltdown while they tried to put an IV in her head. Was screaming for an hour straight. Went from completely pissed to happy as can be almost immediately like you flicked a switch, just because we gave her some ice in a pitcher.
Because of her heart, she could only drink a minimal amount of water or her body would react horribly because it couldn’t process all the water. So, we had to ration water for her, and she craved it constantly.
Wow. I can’t even….. just wow.
I don’t know why but that hit me like a gut punch. I’d celebrate that little Angel face too.
Kid went through a lot in her 28 months, man. She had a really good year in 2013, many good memories from that year.

To be honest, if it wasn’t for my son being born 4 months after our daughter passed away, I would not be here. Addiction would have killed me & it wouldn’t have taken long. Knowing I had to be here for my son was the only thing that kept me from losing it.

I read your Easter letter, and really got me thinking how close I was to losing my oldest child. He was born two months early and weighed 2 lbs 12 ozs. Spent the first 3 months in the hospital. I was lucky though, and now he is 31 years old and married. Seen a lot of crazy stuff when he was in the NICU.

He wrote an essay some years back, I believe it was called ‘On Writing’ or similar. Talks about how essential it is to read poorly written works to fully understand and appreciate well-written works. It’s a great read. Also, The Running Man’ is one of my favorite books of all time.
That was a good story.
The Long Walk is one of my faves. I don’t think I’ve read a bad one, except for the final in the Dark Tower series. Disappointing.
His collection of short stories in Nightmares and Dreamscapes is a really good read, too. Crouch End, Popsy….lots of good ones.
I’ve always felt he was better suited for the short story or essay. Rita Hayworth and the SSR, Apt Pupil, Stand by me…

Reminded me of Carpenter´s “They Live”, looks like King was inspired by that movie (good one btw if you haven´t seen it yet) when he wrote that short story.
Running Man is the best. Probably my favorite book, as well. I used to read it every time I got sick. It’s nice and short, great action, great pace and a great ending.

I have never witnessed a more underhanded, dishonest, scoundrel ridden, money grab than what the PGA did yesterday. Preach for 2 yrs about integrity, values, tradition and then do a 180 heel turn and take the Saudi bag of money.
This is just a reflection of what drives 99% about what I bitch about here everyday. This is about class separation and the hypocrisy of the mega rich pushing down their expectations on the working class to tow the line, be loyal, be fair, show up on time, follow orders, work hard, be grateful for what you have while they sell out, cut back costing people jobs and livelihoods, raise prices on life saving drugs or food or housing, crash markets for a profit ruining lives.
This is what is wrong with society and why they keep us divided with BS gender, race, anti science, environment, guns, abortion…..issues ammunition they can keep firing and feeding at us distracting us while they at the capitalistic troughs feed and enrich themselves.
