The Vikings host the *aints on Sunday, a team that seems to have improved since the head coaching change. A couple weeks ago, this seemed like a fairly easy win, but the team looked much better in the one game they’ve played since Josh McDaniels was fired as head coach and replaced with Antonio Pierce. Hopefully the Vikings can knock them back off course where they belong.
Minnesota Vikings Discussion Topic of the Day
Given the Vikings’ current position, how high are your expectations? Do you expect the Vikings to make the playoffs this year? If so, how far do you think they can go?
I know much depends on how the QB position plays out, but I think the defense is equally as vital. They’re currently around the middle of the pack in both points allowed and yards allowed per game, according to footballdatabase. Flores must continue to field an average to above average defense in order for the Vikings to go very far.

The funeral announcement and obituary for our friend Scott “Admiral Big Gun” Backstrom. I’m attending the funeral service on Saturday, so if any of you are planning to be there, please let me know, it would be cool to meet a few more of you. Email me at [email protected]. You can message me at Twitter or Bookface as well, I might see it.

HC Mike Vrabel announced that Will Levis will remain the Titans starter for the rest of 2023 and Tannehill will be the backup, per NFL.com. Also, Wentz will back up Stafford in LA, and Robert Saleh says it’s lazy to blame the Jets’ offensive problems solely on Zach Wilson.
Yahoo Sports looks at how poor QB play has plagued the league this year. Eh, I think it’s mainly due to injuries. Plus, there are very few elite QBs in the league right now.
Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something feel free to ask. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here. Just be civil and cool to one another.
Late again, I am canceling by subscription.
There was a time when midwesterners were early risers.
I posted a new thread. I got to work early but had actual work stuff to do.
Holy cow! This is how you deal with some internet idiot that threatens your life and the life of your fiance. He messed with the wrong guy, lol.
I like it.
Dobby was the NFC offensive player of the week?
Well deserved IMHO.
Because I’m a loser, I went and looked into the Millennials not aging into conservatism thing.
Interesting points I found:
Canada conservatives figured out that home ownership correlated with conservatism and pushed policies that addressed this.
Jesse Watters of Fox news ran stats that unmarried women vote dem by 68% .
Married women were 55% for republican, which was right in line with married men.
Unmarried men over 40 had similar rates as married men. Basically men aged into conservatives. Women did not unless they got married. No idea why.
See the link below for his take. His “solution” pissed a lot of people off.
There was a bunch of other data about children that was more muddy, but basically came down to having a stable income, which lead to a more traditional family.
Millennials are putting off home ownership, marriage and children until much later than past generations. This is delaying the liberal to conservative transformation for both men and women, and in women, it appears to stop the process completely…which seems weird to me.
Basically if Republicans want to reverse this trend, they need to figure out how to get people married, into a house, and start having families.
Or it is all fake news and nothing to worry about.
4:50 in this video – you can see Mattison hit the wrong hole, PA and Pete even point it out its funny but sad.
Hall, Lowry, KJ – DNP
Darrisaw, Hock, JJ – LP
Nailor FP….you forgot the most important one.
JJ participating is excellent.
Expect DC and Hock to be fine by friday.
Pray for Hall to be at least active by Sunday.

Anybody planning on watching the DNC bash Trump fest tonight?
AKA the republican debate on MSNBC
@must watch TV there@.
I think I have to wash my hair tonight otherwise I would.
same, but I am essentially bald.
I figured you were going to a date hunting group.
They have dates at the store, usually dried, so no need to go hunting them in a group.
Wolves play….so no…..
It’s a no for me as well.
Will probably watch something on Hulu
Nope. Nothing even remotely informative watching that.
No way. Saw a few clips on twitter. Did like Vivek demanding Ronna resign and calling out MSM.
That was entertaining.
The Rinos won’t do anything about it other than push him out of the process as much as they can.
Who remembers this?
Ha! What the hell was that?? Oh well, he was willing.
what was up with the ‘spinning arm’??
I’ve watched that a couple of times and have no idea. Maybe he was trying to get him to go left?
That windmill arm flying in on screen HAHAHA!
Ranking Every NFL Team by Yards Per Play Differential at Midseason | Yardbarker
Vikes are now:
7th in offensive yards per play
9th in defensive yards per play
6th in Yards Per Play Differential
Looked at the chart, interesting take. Are the vikes that good or do we need to multiply the net by a number < 1 to account for TO differential.
Turnovers have been our problem…but that is the point…I think we have Solid offense and defense and the somewhat bizarre T.O. differential early in the season was what killed us.
This year’s team is way better than last year’s team. Have to see what happens to that yards per play without Kirk…we were 5th heading into last week.
Ah and what were our ranks last year with our facade of a record?
Don’t know what the offense was….defense was 30 or 31

They look a little on the young side……
So since we brought up Al Gore and the internet and the fact that he is a Perv.
I wanted to know stats about internet porn, here is what I found.
25 to 30 percent of all internet searches/downloads are Porn related.
20 to 35 percent of females have viewed porn in the last year.
As much as 70 percent of internet porn viewing happens between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m…people are watching porn during work…I may have to start restricting the work from home policy.
Many of you younger folks probably already knew these stats…I frankly am a bit surprised.
We have guys that can’t help at work. Even “joke” about taking “spank breaks”. Some of these guys can barely send an email, but by God they can find every possible way to get around the firewall.
Me right now:
Never searched for porn, but my employer blocks many conservative news sites and any site that sells firearms (BassPro etc) and reloading components. Can’t even read hunting blogs.
yikes….I am sure they block CNN as well.
Just tried CNN, got on fine.
My last employer (prison) did not allow any internet access to outside the institution.
Unless you were a supervisor or needed it specifically for you job, i.e. Legal Officer.
Even those had the sites they visited logged and they could be reviewed when deemed necessary by ‘the bosses’.
I was happy with no outside access, I didn’t have to worry about ‘will this site get me in trouble in the future’.
Heck I didn’t even log into the e-mail they provided since once it showed you opened an e-mail you were required to know what was in that e-mail. You couldn’t claim ignorance of a policy if you opened an e-mail about that policy several years ago.
We even had a few guys fired because they opened e-mails from co-workers that were ‘offensive’ and deleted them instead of reporting them as required by the ‘Woke State Rules’.
Upon further thought review.
We had a Warden that was ‘reassigned’ because she claimed she didn’t know about a policy and they showed she opened the e-mail explaining it months prior. Once they get you for ‘less than honest’ you are done.
The guys were not fired for deleting jokes. Only the ones who forwarded them were fired (2nd offense) or fined (1st Offense). The ones who only deleted them were written up and given ‘additional training’.
Those were jokes that some one found offensive and submitted a complaint. The investigation would find anyone who looked at the offending joke e-mail.
Yeah, I really don’t miss that place.
Sounds like a joyful place to work.
Had a neighbor who was talking to me about retirement. She stated that her husband wouldn’t retire as he enjoyed ‘going to work’.
I replied that I had no problem ‘going to work’, I had a problem ‘going to prison’ every day.
In fact I was planning on a part time job when I got done, but then the plague hit derailing that plan.
Try it right now!
I am risk averse
google cake farts
Not technically porn.
My goodness, I step away for awhile and you guys come up with some disparate convos.
I believe you started it with your “skin book” question…….
I like to speak old fogey once in awhile. The young ‘uns have no idea what a skin book is. Just like I had never heard of their “golden showers”. Sheesh.
Don’t lie, you were familiar with golden showers, just not the new name.
No sir!
Why would anyone be into that?
Was just laughing with the techs, had a patient a while back (long enough now the trauma has worn off), doing a certain type of exam and it should have been obvious that she shouldn’t have anything in her vajayjay but I didn’t explicitly ask beforehand.
After a certain procedural complication and me fishing around I held up a feminine hygiene product and said:
Tech pov; “This is a tampon.”
My pov: “This is a tampon?”
Yeah people are weird, but that was too easy. Foot fetishes are just as weird. Feet are disgusting.
‘Feet are disgusting’
Don’t tell the Chinese.
Regular, run-of-the-mill, normal sex is gross enough. No need to make it worse…
That’s my motto!
‘Regular, run-of-the-mill, normal sex is gross’
While watching from the outside yes.
While involved in doing it, not so much.
Unless you are into that type of thing of course.
The scrubs episode with the ass box is great
So you admit is was your fault for stepping away for awhile.

Ha!
Glad you are feeling better Ben Dum Dum.
That was an Auto-Correct fail.
That is my story and I am sticking to it.
Hope you are On The Mend Ben.
I’m just a piece of data. I’m not even real.
JJ officially designated for return from IR. 21 day countdown starts now. I’d post a Tweet about it but the platform is broken today.
That is the 1st step.
JJ plus Addison could make Dobby dangerous-er.
Well he needs to be much, much more dangerous-er…
Here is a complete list of the QBs in 2023 who average less than 6 yards per attempt:
Josh Dobbs 5.8
Daniel Jones 5.7
Brian Hoyer 5.5
Bryce Young 5.5
Mitch Trubisky 4.9
Brett Rypien 4.5
Now I am not saying he needs to be at Cousins level – 7.5, but we will not be successful offensively if he remains down in the 5s.
He has weapons and support he’s never had before now that he’s in Mn.
what’s most interesting to me is watching how a qb is put into this offense, with its weapons and support and how they do.
Kirk did great, let’s see how a mobile one does and what that opens up for KOC’s gameplan.
I agree, he has never had the weapons or support he has here, so I am hopeful that number improves.
Just one caveat and I have only seen Dobbs for like 2 quarters ever. Many scambling type QB’s get happy feet fairly quickly and don’t let the play fully develop. With our WR’s and scheme, and good line play, be patient and only run as last resort. If he does that, everything should be fine.
When asked ‘how do you know when to scramble’ he said ‘when everyone is covered because that means no one is accounting for me’.
Exactly.
Yes to this. I have watched 2 separate film breakdowns now of Dobbs from Sunday. Both point out that when he ran in for a TD he had Hock breaking open for a TD and he had time to throw it. It was exactly supposed to go to Hock and he was open…Dobbs bailed early.
Again, cutting him a lot of slack for this Sunday since that was remarkable…but I would hope as he settles in we see less bailing and more throwing to open receivers.
Having Hock breaking open for a TD is not the same as being is a situation where he can see that Hock is breaking open for a TD.
Hindsight is 20/20, being under extreme pressure in a complex offense for the 1st time is not.
Was the results of the play positive? the rest is subjective speculation.
Respectfully disagree, the play was designed for Hock to break open, and Dobbs knew that from the way the play developed…pump fake to the WR at the line to freeze the safety a tish and allow the stop and stutter by Hock to gain separation. Dobbs bailed early on a perfectly designed play.
I am willing to give him a pass due to the situation.
Holding him to a higher standard when we got a positive result seems like looking for negatives.
Not at all, just saying that those are the types of things I would hope improve as he becomes more comfortable.
Think it is simply. Our offense, with receivers and scheme, is designed to “win” from the pocket. So, just let it happen.
If nothing is there, then take off.
Hope for improvement is a worthy goal for all of us.
Need to factor in Dobbys 10yds per rush.
Yes, that is why he doesn’t need to be at 7.5, but we will not be successful if he remains in the 5…All of the QBs listed are pretty much on failing teams this year..You need to be able to throw the ball effectively, to this point in his career Dobbs has not. Again, he now has better weapons and support, so maybe he will.
Cherry-coke flavored chocolate covered cherries are not that good, so if you are tempted when you see them, pick a tried and true candy you like instead.
They are a bit too sweet and cloying.
I liked Cherry Coke back when I drank sodas.
Chocolate Covered Cherries were always to ‘sweet and cloying’ for me though.
Chocolate Covered Almonds or Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups?
Yes Please.
I dont feel like scrolling down anymore. I see our O line is ranked 6th, and the question about is it weighted for pass pro more than run and I dont think thats the case. Our run game being ass has been from lack of rushing attempts AND Mattison not seeing lanes for shit. Theres a break down of our O line from Sundays games and theres several times where Mattison literally runs away from a gaping run lane that opens up and decides to follow his O line into a pile of defenders. Its frustrating to watch. Vikings will be drafting an RB in the mid rounds in 24 me thinks. Unsure of what the FA market is but with the $$ they were wanting THIS off season, its best to stay away.
It is clearly true that Mattison misses holes. But if you have time, you might find the rest of the discussion informative.
I mean, I get the points that are being made. I would like to see Kene and Chandler in there. From my understanding, Chandler is in the dog house because he was incapable of blocking, either from lack of knowledge in the scheme or lack of effort but his running ability was great. Now that we dont have a statue in the pocket, his ability to pass block isn’t AS needed, I think we should give him a 60/40 split or toss in some Kene, might as well see what we got because we KNOW what we have with Mattison.
I’d just say, put any of them at RB – that’s OK. But, overall, we are not going to be good running the ball (even adequate) if they continue to allow penetration from the IOL.
And when you think about it, most teams are playing pass defense against us – they don’t fear our running – and we still get stuffed.
but if a change in back helps, great.
Agreed all around. Im trying to find the video I watched where they briefly show Mattison missing that lane…give me a moment
Not really required. I can recall several plays where he run right up the lineman’s ass. Terrible vision.
I still remember a game against Seattle where he missed a huge hole. Think we were going for 2 point conversion that would have guaranteed a victory.
Instead we lost. Seattle drove the field with less than a minute to tie or some crazy shit.
It was during the Zimmer era.
Anyone else remember that?
Think we were up like four. We had driven 80 yards and had a 4th and 1 from their 9 yard line with 1.50 left. Zim went for it – Mattison ran wrong hole and LT had a pretty crappy block.
Seattle drove the field and won. Our defense gave up two 4th and 10’s on the drive.
A really crappy loss.
DK caught the game winner on 4th down…. Play before we dropped a pick that would’ve ended it.
Wow.
That’s worse than I remember.
name of your sex tape
Is Mattison rushing before blocks develop because he has so many TFLs?
More like he’s commiting to where he is running WAY too soon. Part of this is probably to Jrobs point is he is getting hit behind the LOS a lot so I dont blame him. But he needs to bounce and find the lane if his first one isnt there.
Just got back from helping mom get a car battery. I regret not consulting Freezy first.
I’m really not sure why the guy connected the clamps to my nipples to test it.
Apparently, that is normal, though. Would have been good to know stuff like that in advance. I could have kept the weeping more minimal.
this you?
Yes, that was the second part of the testing procedure exactly.
would think his ‘nipples’ would be higher up.
A current event thought.
A bit sad today.
Still a midwesterner at heart, but spent decades in Northern Virginia.
Was very hopeful for election results there given the new Governor’s big win in 2021.
Just needed to flip one Senate seat to control legislature.
Sadly, got beaten badly – lost both house and Senate.
One social issue is just killing even the best candidates. Not good for future elections.
Was it guns or abortion? We are so easy to divide and conquer it’s sickening.
It’s abortion. Virginians for the most part like their guns.
Right but I wasn’t aware of the situation so either subject would rule the ballot.
No problem. Guns can be an issue in many places, but seems to pale in comparison to abortion.
Just my opinion, after the recent Supreme Court decision, this is going to be a staggering issue in the 2024 elections.
It’s all cycle. Guns, Abortion, Gay Marriage… Just as long as we have people who have hard lined identities as a conservative or liberal then there will always be one issue that makes sure divided we are conquered.
I am hardliner against killing babies.
Amen Brother.
Me too. But not sure it’s an election winner – at least in the areas that must be won.
While I will never, ever vote for a pro-baby killer, I do think we need to have a more nuanced stance as a party…Although no abortions after 15 weeks except in the cases of rape, incest, or danger to the mother seems pretty nuanced, we can’t even get support for that in the purple states.
“pro baby killer” That’s just as dumb as someone saying I won’t ever vote for a school shooter or classroom killer because they support the 2nd amendment. Literally just as dumb.
What if I say I will not vote for someone who is okay with ending an innocent human life.
Are you pro death penalty in that case?
If you want to call the person ACTUALLY having an abortion a baby killer at least that makes a little more sense. It’s the same thing as calling someone who is pro second amendment a School shooter.
People on death row are not innocent. That’s a really dumb argument. Being complicate and paying for an abortion but not being the doctor is more like hiring somebody to kill your wife. Good luck getting away from any charges by telling the judge, “well I didn’t pull the trigger so I didn’t do anything wrong.” It is nowhere close to supporting the 2nd amendment and being a school shooter. More like opening the door and letting the school shooter in. Nice try.
FACT: People have been put to death by the death penalty there were innocent. You can’t deny that fact… So no, it’s not a dumb argument.
Pro baby killer is indeed the correct term, much much more accurate than ‘Pro-Choice’
Then by your own logic, someone who is pro gun is themselves a school shooter.
Not even close. That’s a ridiculous stretch, even for you.
No it isn’t you are saying a politician that is pro choice is themselves a baby killer. No, in fact they are not. They are just as guilty of killing a baby as the politician who is OK the assault weapons people use in shootings are of actually be a killer themselves. What’s different? I’ll tell you what is different. One is something you believe in and one isn’t that’s the only difference and you can’t see beyond your nose.
Nah, if we’re talking the politicians, being pro 2nd amendment compared to being pro abortion is more like trying to say that if you want to keep scalpels legal then you are pro abortion. Being pro tool does not make you pro every possible use of those tools.
You’re twisting it because it’s on your side. Someone is not guilty of killing a baby unless they kill a baby. Then the definition of baby is a gray area. Again if your definition is it begins at conception then what about the 10-40% of fertilized eggs that do not attach to the wall and are essentially a period? Were those babies? Again we all know the answer is no but you won’t use logic because you are so firm on your stance that no logic will sway you so you’ll say yes those were babies… just silly.
You’re just too dug in to playing devil’s advocate and being the smartest guy in the room no matter what. If I get elected and try to make it legal to shoot up schools, but don’t actually shoot any up myself, I am still a piece of shit school shooting proponent. That is nowhere close to advocating for 2nd amendment rights. On abortion, I think both sides need to pull their heads out of their asses and compromise. Neither extreme whether its on demand up to and including birth or total ban from conception is a winning issue. At least 70% of the country would be willing to accept a partial birth abortion ban or after the first trimester. Personally, I am pro-life and I will not hide that, but I would count getting a 15 week or something federal ban as a win and then leave it up to states if they want to go further.
No, you said calling a politician that is pro choice is a baby killer. No. They. Are. Not. That is so fucking dumb. It’s just as dumb to say someone who supports people having access to the usual weapons of used to shoot up schools is a school shooter themselves.
I agree both sides need to compromise. The 2 party system has to have compromise or it doesn’t work. But you want to help? Quit with the crazy verbiage that is only damning to one side. I’m very pro 2nd amendment. Probably more so than pro choice. I want less restrictions on weapons than compromising on 8 week-ish spot on abortion.
But in Edgecurshers Moral Equivalency World all opinions are equally valid.
Hook line and sinker they got you. Way to use deceptive language. Everyone is against killing babies. This wording is as dumb as the dumb dumb lib memes I see about a kid getting on the bus saying I might not come back mom because we have to choose either guns or getting shot a school. Stop it, it’s dumb. I think we have already hashed this out. It’s something like 10-40% of fertilized eggs are lost to periods just naturally. Are those babies that died? I know you are going to say yes but that’s silly.
Again, I am on both sides of this. I like the Bill Burr stance, I don’t like the government telling me or women what we can do with our bodies… at the same time, if I had a cake cooking in the oven and you came and threw out my cake… I’d go, hey you ruined my cake! haha. It’s so much trickier than you’ve been brain washed to believe in because of hi-jacked religious upbringings. I wish we could just decide a cut off date and move off this topic. 8 weeks, no abortions after 8 weeks unless the pregnancy threatens the life of the mother or in cases of incest or molestation. Done… move on.
Most people have common sense. 8 weeks, that’s it, would satisfy over 80% of Americans. Believe polls shoe it at 83%
‘this is going to be a staggering issue in the 2024 elections.’
Only in Purple states.
In Red states the discussion is where to place the Ban.
In Blue states they allow them to be killed even after birth.
But it is the Purple states that will decide the Presidential election.
Unfortunately, the purple states decide the election.
And there’s some simple demographics in this country – there’s more dems than repubs to begin with.
It is the Middle Moderates that decide the election.
The right and left are already locked in on their votes.
That’s true. In the middle moderates there are more women than men and they have fairly strong opinions on this issue. Not all of course, but most.
Both the pro and anti life sides have strong opinions.
I think if the abortion bans are pushed too far it will cause problems.
Finding a logical place for the ban is the key.
Most all but the radicals believe ‘partial birth abortions’ are wrong.
You and NDR are correct. Most people in this country are for “womens rights (abortion)”, but are also for restrictions and limits. There is a favorable position that is available.
Find and selling that ‘favorable position’ will be the key.
and that is what our side has been piss poor about here to for. We need to get our act together.
I think most of our messagings have been pretty good.
Fake news has not reported it or even worse taken it out of context and twisted into something terri-bad.
Of course they do (will), but just keep pounding a good solid message. Over and over and over etc.
Well, I still contend ballot box stuffing at drop boxes is the real issue.
To some degree true – but don’t think you and I are going to win on that issue – too much water under the damn.
But we can do better on this other thing and any improvement will help
in 2022, exit polls said something like 70% of voters were angry. Yet no sweeping change in power.
I think it’s a much bigger issue than people want to believe.
I personally think it’s crooked as hell= just not sure what can be done about it at this point.
Well, if it’s not going to be fixed, the Repub’s need to play the same game. But it won’t happen.
I still believe that I will never see another Repub president in my lifetime.
You’re correct. We at least need to embrace mail in voting, and get the vote out.
If not, we won’t see one for a long, long time.
An actual conservative will only be elected after the country is so far in the shitter it is not redeemable. Until there is wide spread pain and suffering, and it becomes blatantly, undeniably evident it is from the socialistic policies, people will keep voting for freebies and blaming “rich people”. Even then, at least 30% of the population is too stupid to change their minds.
I have relatives in Europe and I’m “friends” on Facebook with them.
One of my uncles was posting about how he doesn’t know any Democrats…which is funny since his daughter is basically a communist. Anyways, one of the European cousins chimed in with just how rare conservatives in not only Europe, but the world in general.
I hadn’t really thought about it.
Europe is very liberal with a few outliers like Hungry.
Canada? Liberal
Latin and south America have a few places like Brazil where a conservative party pops up, and some countries I think are still run by right wing dictators (Uruguay?).
But overall liberal.
Asia tends to favor socialism.
Basically the US and Russia (in their opinion) have a reliable right wing that is large enough to win elections on a regular basis.
The rest of the world tends more towards socialism.
Something to think about.
The rest of the world sucks, US doesn’t.
Idaho is safe.
Once I get there I can get out the popcorn and watch the rest burn.
Idaho is safe…great retirement destination.
Working on the date for taking back the Idaho house with the Property Manager currently.
Duh.
Thanks. Interesting thoghts.
Abortion I hear, Governor was pushing for ban after 15 weeks.
Curious how the ‘Fans only’ lady does.
She claimed that people reporting that she was doing sex acts online for donations were ‘sex crimes’ and violated her and her families privacy.
It was too close to call last I heard.
I read the cutie only lost but 1000 votes.
Only lost 1000 votes or lost by only 1000 votes?
At least she already has a ‘side job’ lined up.
Lost by 1,000 votes.
It was like 51% – 49% outcome.
It’s abortion.
Last election someone was showing stats on the suburban white mom going hard towards Democrats after voting fairly reliable for Republicans over the last 20ish years.
I don’t remember the demographics exactly, but I believe the suburbs with college educated men and women flipped their vote hard.
Also, Gen Z came out and voted hard.
About 40% more of them voted than millennials or gen x at the same age.
I wonder what their motivation was?
I only view Virginia from afar now. But Yonkin won big in 2021 on the education issue – let parents have a say.
In 2022 with the economy in the tank, the soccer moms et all were suppose to go red big. But, after Supreme Court decision, dems made abortion and Trump the big social issues and won with that.
‘I wonder what their motivation was?’
For Gen Z I suspect it was being promised free stuff like Education.
Easier to vote for people who will give you stuff then actually working.
As the boomers die off, Gen Z (1996-2010) and millennials (1980-1996) take over.
How do you reach them?
Telling them their lazy and want free stuff (even if 💯 accurate) will not help.
What does the Republican party offer a group of young kids that are concerned about the climate, gay rights, abortion and affordable education?
If you look at the polls, those are their interests (to varying degrees).
You need to tell them why they need to vote against their interests or adept.
They will Grow up as us Boomers die off.
‘If you are not Liberal when you are young you have no heart,
If you are not conservative when you are older you have no brain’.
My kids/nieces/nephews have already got more conservative as they get jobs and start families.
For a long time that has been absolutely true. However,
A quick internet search shows millennials are not getting more conservative as the age like previous generations.
There’s a million reasons out their for why that is, but that generation is bucking the trend.
Lots of interesting articles out there, but millennials appear to be “special”.
So true – whether we all want to believe it or not.
Who knows. I’m not an expert on this. I just saw a few interesting articles over the years about millennials basically not behaving as everyone else did.
I’m sure many of them will become more conservative.
Home ownership, kids, a career all tend to favor more conservative approaches.
I moved out is at Paul because I could no longer stand the liberal policies. I’ve changed over the years. In 45 though and gen x.
I have three adult children all with houses, jobs etc. All are self proclaimed conservatives, but view many of the social issues far differently than I do.
Socially Liberal and Financially Conservative is a real thing.
True. Both of my daughters are prolife. Yet, are dead against the government telling them what to do with their bodies.
‘quick internet search’ does not equal facts.
Sure it does. Internet searches bring all the data. It’s up to you to decide if you believe it or not, but the data is there. That’s a fact.
Just cuz you don’t like it doesn’t mean its not true.
Could the data be wrong? Sure.
But there’s enough data out there to show millennials are different than previous generations.
I certainly wouldn’t discount it just because I don’t like it.
You can find anything you want on the internet.
And Bias Confirmation works both ways.
It seems that a few people in the Republican party have seen the data and found it troubling.
They even had suggestions on how to combat this.
Anyways, probably not true. So they are wasting their time.
Best to ignore it and continue on.
yeah, my gen needs to get used to the fact that you are not special you are just a cog in the machine that is capitalism
You’re close enough in age to Gen x.
I know for a fact that I’m not special and just keep moving.
Yeah I’m definitely not special, well not to anyone but my mom and I’m just fine with that.
Almost like growing government dependency programs may have something to do with it.
I’m not in any way an expert on this.
If you get far enough down the reddit rabbit holes, there’s quite a lot of angst that millennials and gen z will stay liberal and keep pushing.
I don’t think it would be a stretch to say that the country as a whole has gotten more liberal.
Especially with social issues.
So I’m not overly surprised.
Internet or not, just walk around and talk to people – all kinds of people. The country as a whole is more liberal. And not just socially.
Is filing for bankruptcy now considered acceptable? Wasn ‘t 25 years ago
When is the last time you heard of a Republican suggesting a balanced budget?.
First they have to stop Bidenomics run aways spending.
We will be years from ‘balance budget’.
And with Individual Spending Bills there is no longer a ‘Budget’ in the old term sense.
Balanced budget is never happening.
Would just say our side is far from sinless on this issue.
Good points.
I had not seen that before.
Yes, the life cycle of a society.
We are cruising through stage 3 on our way to stage 4
I think we are getting to about sunset of stage 3 if not later.
I’m a millennial, I don’t care about any of that gay climate rights getting abortions garbage. I do care about affordable education and I know the stupid lib idea of cancelling student loans ain’t it, its the cost that needs fixed. Also, gen z and the stupid millennials might “care” about that stuff now but they will change as they age and start making money and paying taxes and shit.
Ben You do not, but most do. And as suggested they may change as they get older – but that’s not today or next year.
You are also from rural South Dakota.
Former military.
White.
Male.
You are literally the poster child for the average conservative.
If I Google ” Suburban white male conservative” your picture will show up.
True, but now I live in a large urban area
Yes, but I only joined to pay for college
True
True
I’m not sure poster child would work in an incredibly liberal discipline or live in one of the 3 bluest states but I could be wrong.
This was the fourth choice when I entered suburban white male conservative.
Interesting thing I did see on the old Internet:
1) Those who started out conservative stayed conservative.
It’s only liberals that change (if they do).
2) Also seems to be a shift towards fiscal conservativism as you age more so then in social issues.
I guess that kinda makes sense.
Anyways, I’ve wasted enough time reading about Ben and lazy ass millennials.
I voted for Al Gore and was probably considered a lib at 18, mostly because I didn’t really give a shit about anything and I though all conservatives were fun haters with sticks up their asses.
Al Gore was pervert – that’s why Tipper dumped his ass.
Leave it to Ben Dum Dum to vote for a pervert….
I hadn’t heard that though.
Yeah, but he invented the internet so it offsets. Oh, and

That makes sense now, he invented the internet so he could get porn more easily.
The question is why so many think that way. My 3 kids range from 25 to 30 and none of them are concerned about the climate, they do not support “gay rights” or abortion and all are past education, so I don’t know if they have an opinion on that.
I blame all the other parents.
GOP lacks infrastructure and basically have no “get out the vote” game, which DNC excels at. Also, Ronna needs to go. She, along with corrupt, establishment RINOs, protect the donor class and idiot establishment consultants, who are wrong about most everything, have terrible messaging, and are clueless about everyday Americans. They also intentionally withhold support/money for any candidates they don’t control.
Beshear had tons of money in KY and Cameron had virtually none (got zero from Ronna), couldn’t compete with all the ads. Beshear family name is well known here (his Dad was two term Governor). Also, even though Trump endorsed Cameron, so did McConnell, and Cameron worked for McConnell at one point, so people didn’t trust that. Beshear has a likeable personality, but is a liar. He took credit for things the KY Republican controlled congress did to improve business climate. General population doesn’t know Beshear vetoed most of those, but congress over-rode his vetoes. Zero GOP messaging about that.
Great point – and that’s why we lose elections.
Kirk cousins is slow in making decisions!?!?
Believe this was from last summer and several Vikings fans jumped all over this. Ponting out Cousins’ W/L record , TD/INT, and QBR against Jordon’s Saints.
It’s from June.
Figured I dust it off
I still think its relevant.
JJ leaning towards being out this week….
Don’t need him. We got Dobbs.
That was expected based on KOCs comments on Monday. We will have him back for Broncos…but if thats not the case then it will probably be post Bye week. We shouldnt need him for the Bears. We could really use him for the Saints
Future HOFer….
must have been a down offensive week
Wins>Stats
I know it doesn’t mean much long term, but I still think this is cool, and that game was FUN. Happy for Dobbs even if it was an outlier.
We got heem!
That was…..predictable.
Figured him or the USFL guy we had for a week or so.
Makes me worried that it means Mannion will be on the 53 this weekend.
Mannion will be on the 53
I would honestly rather see Tanner Morgan than I would Mannion
It would probably be more entertaining but just as painful.
Doesn’t really matter – our running game will carry the day.
I prefer SLOTERGOAT to mannion or morgan
I think it also means Mullens will not return this week. Mannion will be the backup Sunday, just hope Dobbs doesn’t also get hurt.
If Hall clears protocol by Sunday he can be the back up and push Mannion to ’emergency QB’.
Purdy managed to make back in time for the Cincinnati game.
Purdy wasn’t knocked out cold, in fact he didn’t show any symptoms until after the game, zero chance hall clears
Purdy was also injured on a Monday vs a Sunday, extra days matter.
Plus Purdy started and we just need Hall to be a back up.
It’s my hope and I can keep it if I want to, keep it if I want to.
So if Dobbs gets hurt, we are playing Mannion or Tanner fucking Morgan?
Dumb. Beyond Dumb.
Hope for Hall to Heal.
I’d be shocked if he is cleared this week.
I can still hope for it regardless of the effect it has on you.
Inmates often told me ‘the thing I hate the most about you guys is that you can go home at the end of your shift’.
What choice do they have?
You would think there is a free agent QB with actual NFL experience out there????
Like Colt McCoy maybe.
Yep.
Reading the tea leaves…I assume Mullens or Hall will be available.
No.
Yes
Don’t you be crushing my fragile hope.
#meany
I don’t have Amazon Prime, but a Co-worker does. He has his credentials installed on an office TV in the conference room so I can come up and watch Thursday night football if I want to (he is not a FB fan)…..
I think tomorrow’s game of Carolina vs Chicago will NOT warrant a trip to the office to watch.
think I’ll watch an old Clint Eastwood movie!
Exactly the movie I had in mind. Believe harry missed the political correctness classes for a policeman
Most of us at the prison ‘took a bathroom or smoke break’ when they tried to shove that stuff at us.
I remember when they told us we had to hand out Condoms to Inmates even when they admitted that using said Condoms in Prison was Illegal.
The Briefer even stated “we hate this policy as much as you guys, but we were told to implement it or be fired.’
Smoke break just lingo?
Montana prisons are” tobacco free”
They were suppose to ‘take it out the gate’ but no enforced the rule, outside the building was usually good.
We are about “half screwed” at this point in time in this country. Sad.
It was suppose to be ‘1 for 1’ but when we asked ‘do we get it back brown side out or white side out’ they changed it to ‘just give them away until they are all gone and then it will be a supply issue’.
Used to do physicals on kids that came to the Job Corp (training for troubled youtes) it is co-ed and no sex policy for the facility. Had large bowels of condoms all over campus.
Yup.
The logic is ‘you can’t stop it so just try to mitigate the damage’.
Why were there condoms in their bowels and what caused them to be so large?
Well for Prisoners the ‘large bowels’ make sense after someone used the condom on them.
*bowls
Sounds like some of the prisoners are fully screwed.
I might make a draft kings line up and watch the shit show unfold. A very moveable object meats a broken down force. Who will win?
Yeah, kind like watching a train wreck…
And now provided cleaning drinking water to people is racist. This world is screwed.
We clearly live in a racist world…
Dumbasses.
Well if potholes are racist why wouldn’t water.
I suspect air is next.
That’s funny, I guarantee you 100% of the people that now have water don’t give a shit what some virtue signaling attention whore thinks.
‘Virtue Signaling is better/easier/cheaper than being Virtuous’
Tweets aren’t showing up, someone should do something about that.
I’ll email them
They may be under the hood doing some work. That will cause a temporary kerfuffle sometimes.
Makes sense
Ha so true!
LOL, this jus lame
Real smart – of all the coaches in the NFL, get yourself in Tomlin’s doghouse.
IDK what the deal is with drama queen Pit WRs, Antonio Brown, Chase Claypool, now this guy.
Vikings have the 6th best OL in the entire NFL. WOW.
They have been playing well…That TD throw to win the game last week, nice clean pocket.
Wish we could run the ball though.
If they use a sort of average pass/run to get the 6th grade, the the pass grade must be off the scale.
How much of the lack of rushing attack is the Oline and how much is Mattison running with his eyes closed?
This… we have a major lack of talent at RB which goes against everyone’s assumption they just grow on trees and have value.
For sure some on the RB’s. But on most all of our running plays we allow penetration at or near the point of attack. Regardless of the back, this will absolutely kill a running play..
I think part of the problem is the line is built for outside zone, not inside zone or power gap schemes. We need a back that excels at that concept… so not Mattison lol.
Agree with this. People will hate this, but maybe Cook was a better fit.
Maybe the Jets will cut him and the Vikings can sign him on the cheap.
Doubt his ego would allow him to come back for small money.
He’s getting paid by the Jets and the season is half over. A “$10 million deal” would only cost the Vikings like 5.
If he is ‘cut’ is that contract still in effect?
I know it is if he is traded for but on a ‘cut/pick up’?
Instead of making up numbers, I looked it up. Best I can tell is he is guaranteed $262,222 per week unless suspended. He also has a base salary of $1.08 million that would have been paid already. I think if the Jets cut him there is likely offset language to get some of that $5.8 back. There is also a weekly active roster salary of $70,588 that doesn’t appear to be guaranteed.
If the Jets cut him, they would save $635,292 by him not being on the active roster. He is still guaranteed another $2.36 million that they may be able to get back towards next years cap from cutting him or possible offset language should he sign with another team. His base salary hit is around $500k for the remainder of the year which is more likely to have the offset language.
Basically, I don’t think the Jets take more than about a 500k cap hit if they cut him and could recoup that. Sign him for 1 or 2 mill if he’s cut and that would be in line with what he is still due to make from the Jets, plus he gets to come back to MN and play for a team with a little hope and maybe even get a chance to run the ball a little.
Costing the Vikings $1 or 2m is much better than $5m given our cap (which I last heard was just over $8m).
Appreciate the research.
OK by me. by this time of year, something is just plain wrong if you can’t run the ball.
Cook was a better fit, but he is washed.
At this point – a has been is better than a never was.
Maybe should see what Chandler/Kene have to offer first?
OK try it. If they are a better fit, great. Still, the blocking has to get a lot better too.
I would just play Chandler
Well again, many colleges run outside zone run schemes… the narrative that backs grow on trees is a farce.
If ‘many colleges run outside zone run schemes’ wouldn’t there be many backs that experience in those schemes??
Correct but not many at the caliber needed to be a RB in the NFL that’s my point. They don’t just grow on trees. I have heard that on so many threads so often. Around here as well.
I don’t think the narrative is, that they grow on trees. But, more that it isn’t worth paying a RB like teams have in the past. Their careers are short and their peek window is slim as well.
I don’t think RB’s grow on trees – not my thing. And I firmly believe our issue is more a blocking issue than a RB one – even if we don’t have a perfect “Fitted” back.
For example. O’Neil seemed to be two yards in the backfield on about every running play last week. That just won’t work.
Our interior OL is soft on the run blocking, absolutely true BUT they are more built for outside zone mixed with Mattison wouldn’t start basically anywhere else in the NFL lol.
Believe our OL is greatly improved. But run blocking?
Seems like our Running attempts are just to keep the defense honest.
Slow the pass rush down a second or so and who knows we might even break off a decent run someday.
So tired of putting our offense in a 2nd and long situation all the time. It is difficult to overcome no matter who is playing QB.
You would think that with all the failed first down runs it should open up a play action big gain.
@maybe they are setting up for an important moment to try that.@
At least they didn’t draft a RB in the top 10 to use as a decoy.
That coach is an idiot…
I have a nephew who is a Falcons fan (bad parenting by his dad)…He is so pissed off about that situation.
If it was one time would be one thing, but they have done it all year with Bijan and Pitts and then the coach tries to justify it by saying Bijan opens things up by being away from the play? The play they had last week (I think) was pretty impressive too. Have your 2nd string TE throw a pass to your 3rd string TE while Pitts lead blocks. F-ing genius.
He is a class one dufus…He is lucky their defense is pretty decent.
Partially.
But Mattison isn’t doing himself any favors running up his lineman’s butts.
I said on the game thread that Mattison needs to line up deeper, like AP did to allow the blocks to develop and he can see the holes better.
Kirk isn’t playing.
@you don’t need the excuse this year@
Have to be able to run the ball to be consider a good OL IMHO
One would think so.
Unless the running back stinks……
I wonder if the evaluators may judge a running play well blocked by OL but RB chose wrong hole, angle, didn’t wait to set up block etc…?
IDK.
But that would be a heck of a lot of detail to be able to figure that into the rankings…..
What if 4 of the lineman make great blocks, but just one does an ole block – how does that grade out.
Nobody knows. It’s all top secret and made up to push narratives handed down by the NFL.
For you and SCMF – then the grading is of marginal value. We could have a great OL graded, and can’t run the ball worth crap.
They round up, or down depending on the Narrative.
All the Vikings RBs suck apparently, Akers averages 2.8 ypc, Mattison 3.6 Chandler for whatever reason doesn’t even play.
Should see Chandler going forward since Akers is done for the season.
Can we bring McBride up for goal line stuff? Could it hurt?
That’s the conclusion I’m leaning towards….
I am eagerly anticipating the Injury Report this week.
Hall, Osborn probably still in protocol. CD, Couch, JJ, Mullins, Reed, all of interest.
Am I missing anybody??
Hock
He was a bit banged up but I thought he finished the game.
Kind of typical for him it seems.
I think Lowry will be on it
All of 4 tackles this year, not sure how big a piece he plays.
Rotational D Lineman?
He’s listed as the starter on the depth chart, he’s missed several games already this season and hasn’t been impressive when he does play
Couch looked good, once.
Maybe he can rejoin the rotation and help out.
He’s a few weeks away from playing again.
Maybe the last few weeks and into the playoffs.
But I doubt he lasts longer than 3 weeks.
He loves the couch.
Yeah could be ugly… thank goodness for the late bye this year.
Funny aside on the economics of scale…
For years I had my annual physical with a great internist at BC. Was getting harder and harder to get to see him, I would call to make an appointment three months before (how far he was booked out) the date of my exam the year before (have to wait 365 days for insurance to cover), only to be told oh we don’t have his schedule out that far yet, just call back when the schedule opens up – oh when is that – we don’t know should be in a couple of weeks – I call back two weeks later – sorry he is booked out now through the end of that month. Inevitably my annual exam date crept out a month or two every year.
He became director of the IM residency so at that point his practice effectively closed. I asked who he would recommend, newly graduated IM resident so I thought great he’s 25 years younger he’ll be my doc for life. Left the clinic two months after our visit.
Well I’m just gonna establish with the old timer IM doc in GDV.
Call the appointment desk, say I need to see him after January 16 – oh wow that is way out – you can have any time on the 17th 18th or 19th.
I just swung by my doc’s officer after breakfast. Asked if I could get in sometime this week because I might’ve screwed up my hand. He got me in, I’m currently getting x-rays. My doc is also my 3rd or 4th cousin. Didn’t realize that until we met the first time. I was over at St. Alexius (now Essentia), but they suck so I cut them & `changed hospitals.
That is awesome! Both the prompt service, and putting food on the table of your friendly neighborhood radiologist. I know most of the rads at Sanford Bismarck pretty well…as you know I considered taking a job there before the GDV (God’s Divine Valley) plan solidified.
This was a younger fella, I’m already done & back to work.
This is what I was doing during the 2nd half last week haha. Damn missed a good one! I had my phone streaming the game but then my phone takes the best recordings so we had to use it. One of the songs we’ve been working on.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1STKVjo-3qNQmiwjUeLXPkp24VCaAg9V_/view?usp=sharing
Nice track! You guys take the concept of garage band to the next level.
Honest question, how are the four of you not deaf AF? The drummer alone would be deafening from four feet away let alone the monster speakers at ear level.
Ha! Well it’s actually our drummer’s basement. I wear ear plugs. Have since like senior year of high school. Even when I go to concerts, always, I have VERY good hearing and I don’t want to lose that. The other guys… I don’t know. The drummer is pushing 50 and has been doing this since the late 80s… So I don’t know. Haha.
I started wearing hearing aids a couple of years ago – I love them – I avoid any loud noises like the plague. For example I wear muffs when I am pounding fence posts or cutting metal with a cutoff saw. Watching that video I got a little anxious thinking of my ears ringing.
I had this same blanket at one point.
Don’t know what happened to it though.
https://skoloholics.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/img-3383-768×1024.webp
I think we all have that same blanket. I use it to cover my eyes when the Vikings call a seven step drop and the edge breaks through right at the snap.
I hide my eyes with mine any time Joseph takes the field.
So I guess that meant almost every pass play with Cousins as the QB?
When did Kodiak hijack DE’s account?
He has been especially salty today.
I think he is constipated.
My mother in law made this one. I think she bought the fabric from the Yarn Barn here in Bis.
If you are looking to get me a Christmas present, tell her I will take one.
Saints are doomed! No team can stand before the Dobbs onslaught!
We’ll see……
You most love Dobbs since he has zero hair issues….
On the one hand, yes.
On the other hand, there is that nagging compelling desire to bully him for looking different. I’m a small man that way…
Embrace the alopecia
Bald Bomber
Hairless Heaver
That would not be the worst thing in the world to have, I wouldn’t have to shave my (scantily haired) head every week.
Ditto
Think of all the money you’d save on haircuts.
I know a guy who has alopecia, started in high school. He was a stud athlete, drafted by the Twins, but had blotchy hair in high school. They were playing a neighboring school in baseball, and their dugout kept making comments about his hair, he was pitching I believe. So he threw a pitch and the catcher acted like he was throwing down to first base, and threw the ball right into the dugout.
Raiders, Saints, tomato potato
Think KOC is a pretty good QB coach. Heard a wonderful story from Mark Sanchez a couple of days ago.
Koc was OC for Redskins. Smith goes down, McCoy becomes starter and they bring in Sanchez as backup. McCoy goes down and Sanchez has to go in.
Sanchez says he didn’t know anything, including players names, but would announce the plays KOC gave him. He went on to say after the play call, KOC would tell him so and so is the primary read on the top and so and so is the under read on the play.
With KOC’s background, believe he is a huge asset in the QB room right now.
Always has been.
The hate on this board about KOC being a bad coach was such a horrible take.
I really enjoyed listening to Wes Phillips presser. He says some pretty cool things about KOC around the 2-3 minute point. The whole interview is worth a listen…he’s got a pretty funny, deadpan delivery on some comments that made me laugh.
Good video.
He confirms Chandler/Kene next RBs up.
Who said he’s a bad coach? Only thing I ever saw was that some people think he’s a bad playcaller.
Remember the “turnovers are a coaching problem” arguments???
They certainly can be, but I don’t think that’s the case for KOC
You’ve been pretty critical of him over his tenure.
as a playcaller, I’ve never been a big fan of the HC calling plays, whether it was zim or KOC, I’d rather the OC just call plays and the HC do HC things. I think KOC is a better HC than he is playcaller.
Yep.
When they were 1-4, he was a bad coach.
I took a fish head to the movies, didn’t have to pay to get him in
Is that the new Kitty on the pic up top?
Yep, he’s doing much better. Eats A LOT.
He probably has a lot of catching up to do..poor little fellow.
Yeah, he was pretty scrawny.
Tweets don’t seem to be posting properly this morning.
They are being shitty.
You should probably play around with the plugins, I’ve heard the developers love that.
Saw a trailer for the new season of Reacher.
Favorite streaming series in a while for me. December 15 launch of season 2.
That plus a new Shogun (fantasic book) series coming soon.
i am looking forward to both Reacher and Shogun. I haven’t read the books, worth the read??
The Jack reacher books are awesome, I’ve never seen the series but the books are awesome. Lee Childs is a great author.
Shogun > the first reacher novel (The Killing fields) imo.
Both started slow, both worth reading.
I have not read any other reacher novels yet, but I will probably do that.
Agreed.
Loved Shoguy (the book).
Tried Reacher and couldn’t get into it.
Same on the Reacher (first book).
But they are so popular I want to give them another shot.
You like Show Guys?

I blame ‘Auto Correct’ for not doing its job.
(prove me wrong)
Doesn’t auto correct learn from your patterns? That just further shows that you search for show guys on your phone a lot.
Evidence does not equal proof.
Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.
I thought it was, “where there’s smoke, there’s Mjolnir”?
and gummys.
Circumstantial Evidence only.
It would never hold up in a court of law.
(well maybe in NY if trump was involved)
I saw it was the FINAL season of Letterkenny coming out over Christmas…
A buddy turned me on to Letterkenny a few years ago. Hilarious. Really enjoy that show.
Rob got me started on that show. Agreed, it’s funny. I started it last winter, but my TV watching pretty much disappears in the summer. I’ll pick it up again here when the snow flies.
Reading is for

Hey NoDak, I didn’t get back to yesterday’s thread until late last night. In answer to your question, I do have a lot of religious books in my inventory, but I also have a lot of other types of books for sale in my store. It mostly depends on where I get my inventory. Earlier this year I got a couple of lots that were heavy on science fiction and horror, plus some life science. I got a few books earlier this year that were old westerns and local history. I got a big lot of antique Christian books last fall from a church that was closing. A few years ago I got a large lot from the estate of a conservative radio talk show host. My inventory is all over the board.
Does your bookstore have a website? It would be fun to look at.
I own a site name but don’t have a website right now. I sell as a third party seller on various sites.
I love reading real books vs my Kindle. Still buy digital for convenience, but every now and again it feels great to read a real print book.
Most of the time these days I don’t read anything, just listen to books on
tapeaudio download while I am busy doing other things, I got no time to sit and read, paperback, hardcover, kindle or otherwise. Last book I read was Wrenage’s Dogss of war, but that was a year ago when my youngest was still an infant who would just snooze away as I read. Someday I will have time again, when thing one and thing two get old enough to entertain themselves.I start reading more when I go to winter hours. May through October, I work 6-4:30 four days a week, so I am zonked out by 9 p.m. Rest of the months, I don’t have to be at work until 7 and I’m done at 3:30, so then I have more time to get chores done after work and don’t have to go to bed as early. I usually read for 30 minutes or so before bed.
So far read First Blood and now on Jim Thompson’s The Killer Inside Me.
I would accept a remake of First Blood more faithful to the novel. Rambo is a lot more interesting of a character in the book. He’s not a out-and-out hero. He is a killer.
In a remake, I picture a ratty, stressed, skinny Andrew Garfield as Rambo and a fat Russell Crowe could be Teasle.
Maybe Mel Gibson as Trautman.
It could work.
I think fat crowe and gibson would work really well. I have no idea who andrew garfield is though
I also didn’t know First Blood was a book
Pretty good book, too! David Morrell does a nice job with it. It’s pulpy adventure with just enough depth to make it respectable.
Granted, it’s no DogSS of War…but close!
This is Garfield. He was Spider-Man briefly.
Oh, I do know him, he played the guy who joined the army but wouldn’t carry a weapon because he’s jehova witness or whatever in that movie Hacksaw Ridge
Was that any good?
Hacksaw Ridge was decent…What say you Ben?
I liked this one.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that confuses the ridges of Heartbreak and Hacksaw. Heh Eastwood ripping out his earring (would merit a reduction in rank these days we love our LGBTQ+) and beating up that big Swede were great moments in cinematic history.
Its decent, fairly accurate historically.
Seventh Day Adventist.
That is why I can’t watch Hacksaw Ridge. I work with a Seventh Day Adventist and have had to listen to him tell me how unhealthy meat is for the last 15 years, so I am conditioned to turn away from anything even tangentially related to Seventh Day Adventism in distaste.
It’s a Pavlonian response at this point.
Yeah, I couldn’t remember exactly, but they’re weirdos, they also believe saturday is the sabbath
To meat or SDA’s?
Great book.
when my kids were younger, only time I could read was after they were in bed. Finding a good book caused issues, since I would stay up too late reading….
do you have an actual store?
i was telling mrs freeze (MAJOR READER), while on our way to door county, that we were sort of passing you and that if we ever get time, we would want to stop and visit your store/you as she loves perusing book stores.
You should get your wife this, I’m thinking of getting it for mine
GREAT idea…
also, ever since i finally said “hey…your sloppy joes suck, can we try something new” they have been fantastic…
sometimes it pays to just be honest
were they just bland or?…
dude, idk how to describe it. they just were NOT GOOD. bland. and filled with….diced up bell peppers which…do not add ANY flavor and just weird.
best part of this though, i had mentioned how bad they were on here one time and ben was making fun of me and my wife and saying how peppers don’t belong in sloppy joes and how much of a dummy i was etc…..then his wife made, probably the same sloppy joes, peppers and all and he was like WTF
I’m not sure I called you a dummy, but I do remember you saying its how she learned to make them out in MT and I was like yeah, that makes sense.
you probably called me worse things.
i don’t swear like you, foul mouthed heathen
Its my one vice
Yeah! Don’t swear you fucker!
LOL
I’m strictly online.
You have an OnlyFans page??????
What is that or am I missing a joke?
Pay subscription site run by the ‘talent’.
Lots of teachers are using it to pay off their student loans.
Of course you have to give them something worth paying for.
Like that Virginia Candidate that was doing sex acts with her husband for campaign contributions.
Thanks for getting back to me…Sounds like a cool store.
I used to read a lot but have tapered off considerably over the last decade or so, getting lazy I guess. My favorite was/is biographies and historical fiction, but loved the Lord of the Rings stuff, Harry Potter, Stephen King, the Pelican Brief..etc. I guess I have fairly broad tastes.
Do you have skin books behind the counter?
He does, but none of pregnant women you sick bastard.
@Those are hard to come by, only a discerning collector would have copies@
Bet those wouldn’t get thrown out like vintage comic books.
I promised not to say anything else about the comic books, so thanks for having my back and mentioning it.
I have run across a few buried in a box I’ve purchased.
Wordle had the coolest solution I’ve ever seen it have today.
It took me to the last guess, she was a stealthy one today that wordle
I wasn’t quick with it either. I got it in 5.
You guys are losers….I got it in one, right after I scrolled through skoloholics this morning.
’sup Norse nerdz…..
New pup?
Nope. That’s the OG – Marley. Wife had him a few years before we met. He’s 8lbs but has the attitude of a Rottweiler. He’s my favorite.
I see Duluth elected a new mayor, lol the incumbent conceded like an hour after counting ballots started.
She got whooped
is this a good or bad mayor for you guys (not that it really matters, we’re all doomed anyways)
From what I’ve read it would seem better for the citizens who want infrastructure improved, something done about homelessness, and those that don’t think a city of 80k people should be spending money and time on climate control.
oof that would be a sucky winter spot for homeless people.
Seems to me from what I’ve gleaned that the current mayor is trying to make Duluth into Minneapolis.
sounds like i will spend my time NOT in duluth
LOL, I like it up there, I wouldn’t live there though
i do too. but i don’t usually spend too much time in the actual city.
usually go up there for the lake, prefer two harbors area to be honest, goosberry etc
I like two harbors as well, we stayed there last year when we went to the Julebyen.
WE camped in Two Harbors a few years back, got to see the tall ships come into Duluth.
I’m not there anymore.
F Duluth.
How is your newborn?
She is fantastic. LIfe is good.
wait, where are you now? what? when did you move?
who am i supposed to not say hi to whenever i visit there now
South of town out of the city. Into the woods where I belong.
sounds perfect to me.
glad you are in a spot you like
From the words up to
It’s also because the average age of QBs is historically young
Gone Fishin, gone crazy. Josh McDaniels coached the Raiders not the Taints.
Someone knows.
Apparently I can’t post tweets.
Well a few of us have been saying this even before his injury…..
I watched the game highlights.
My takeaway: Dobbs has the escape skills of Mahomes, but his throws are a bit erratic. Receivers had to jump a lot to haul in his passes.
Dobbs will get a receiver killed and throw some interceptions. It is inevitable.
Still, I like him better in the QB spot than Cousins. Dobbs offers some entertainment value, at least. Team feels less constipated.
Yeaaashhh
Dobbs and Hall for next season, plus whomever they draft.
Throw the money at JJ and Hunter(I guess) and draft O Line and interior Defense and QB in whatever order works. I guess we will eventually need a safety also since the Hit Man is going to need a walker soon
I Cine a guy that was supposed to replace Harry…
we know that is not gonna work out though.
Bust
While I agree with what you say… it’s tough to watch last game and really get any sense of who he is other than the basics. He does have escapability and such but to use last game as a reference of his ability to throw accurately… he was flying by the seat of his pants. I would hope that part would get better with more understanding of the offense.
I am hoping Dobbs improves a lot this week. He gave us one of the most exciting finishes ever, but the turnovers really hurt. I would be all over Kirk if he turned the ball then had a great comeback drive. You know, like the Colts game last year. Play less shitty in the beginning and there is no need for heroics.
Still super fun to watch, and I would rather watch Dobbs play vs Kirk.
I am rooting for Hall to get back in there, unless Dobbs takes us on a Keenum/Purdy like run.
I am fine if that happens.
I think I’m also just happy to watch someone other than Cousins. Been there, bought the T-shirt. If the roster isn’t Super Bowl quality, then I like to see the team flip regularly and see how new blood does.
we’re playing with house money the rest of the way out..
might as well enjoy it all!
Vikings make the playoffs as a wildcard and win one then are done.
