Today we get to watch one of the best QBs in the game, play against a team that has the best overall defense (Eagles) and one of the best running games this past season. I am picking the Chiefs, since having Mahomes at QB is the opposite of having Ponder/Keenum/Cousins/Darnold when it is playoff time. Sad but true. I know that wins are supposedly not a QB stat, but the real answer for me is, sometimes the QB is THE reason a team wins. Average is not good enough. Yes, there are outliers like Brad Johnson, Flacco, Trent Dilfer, Rich Gannon where a QB did enough to not mess things up. I guess that was the hope the Vikings had with the QB decisions since almost forever. I am ready for JJ next season.
Go Chiefs.
I am sure many will be upset about the shots of Taylor Swift, or the halftime show, or just angry that the Eagles are in yet another Championship game with the ugliest fans known to mankind. Meh. I am watching. Hurts can be fun to watch. Saquon Barkley is fun to watch. Mahomes is fun to watch. And, my wife is a Swiftie so every time she is on screen the missus is happy.

I genuinely dislike this matchup, I’m sick of KC, Philly has the worst fan base in sports, kelce is a douche, everyone is sick of Swift, mahomes and his family are weird or criminals, sirianni is a classless asshole, though do I like butker, good dude, I like hurts, he handles himself with class and I do like Andy Reid. I hope somehow the game ends in a tie.

I remember the days when it was all about the NFC. My how the turntables. And Vikes still can’t capitalize. So shameful.
Since Brady beat Mahomes in Super Bowl, the GOAT debate will never be settled unless Mahomes wins at least one more than Brady.
Also interesting that the 49ers and Eagles seem to be the only teams the NFC can muster to put against Mahomes.
Wonder when the power pendulum will swing back to the NFC. I am just going to cheer for the Eagles, I guess. Show some spine, NFC!

But I don’t think it goes far enough. First, he is not just one of the best in the game, but probably the most talented ever. Second, he doesn’t just take down average or good QB’s . He takes down the Allens and the Jacksons – the elites of the game.
His losses were to Tom Brady, not too bad a QB himself.
Except we’re mistating reality here. QB’s play against the other teams defense, not each other. Brady didn’t beat Mahomes, the Bucs defense did. They held the Chiefs to 9 points.
I know. I was merely (poorly) responding to the idea that average/good QB’s aren’t good enough. Yes, and sometimes elite aren’t good enough either – ala Josh Allen.
That is true. Sometimes elite is not enough. However, Josh Allen was completely responsible for lifting his team a few times this season. yes, it took all the players on the team to win, but excellent play by him is the main reason for some of those victories.
That is the type of play I am hoping to see from JJ.
I do not know if we will, and clinging to hope as a Vikings fan seems silly.
Still, hope is all we got right now.
For sure the Bills are all Josh Allen.
Now. I believe we have a fair amount of talent, and after the draft and FA, we will have even more.
As such, I don’t believe JJ has to play at the Allen level for us to get there.
Hurts and the Eagles may win today, and I don’t put Hurts at the elite level. But that team has a lot of talent on both sides of the ball.
