We’re chug-a-lugging along through this Vikings bye week. These bye weeks are different, it’s a nice break to watch football with little or no vested interest, the games are less upsetting.
Speaking of upsetting, how upset would you be if you were a Browns fan? That organization, man. They have a knack for making destructive decisions where the consequences tend to hang on for years.
Vikings/NFL News and Updates:
Rookie Spencer Rattler will be getting his first NFL start as he will be under center for the *aints on Sunday when they take on the Buccanneers, per NFL.com.
NFL.com also reported that Aaron Rodgers had nothing to do with Robert Saleh’s firing, he says the rumors are patently false.
Vikings.com highlights ‘6 major points’ as the Vikings head into their week 6 bye.
Media Selection:
I thought this was a really good interview. Enjoy!
Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we donโt want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You donโt need to agree with everyone and thatโs fine, you also donโt need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We donโt need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something feel free to ask. We want to have robust discussions, thatโs why weโre here, just be civil.
- Twitter sized version: Be cool to one another
Seattleโs red zone offense is shitty
We have just gotten a report from a friend that there is an alligator swimming up and down our street. Hope someone get a picture.
Just as long as you don’t come home to this.
They’re pretty tasty.
Doesn’t it taste like chicken?
Fishy tasting chicken.
Looks like a new pair of shoes!
and maybe a handbag.
Well they are a protected species here. Why I have no idea – there is certainly no shortage of them.
Big sports night tonight, going to make a huge batch of popcorn and settle in to watch th e links
Cackles accepts a town hall from CNN. Can only imagine the stupid, scripted questions.
They will be scripted, softball questions that she will have ahead of time and she will still manage to mess it up.
Doesn’t matter – no one watches CNN anymore.
Once a great news organization that has been totaled.
Any turd over 6″ in length…….or longer……
But I sleep better last night because Uncle Joe told all of us down in Florida last night he had our backs.
Ok, IT experts. It is my anti virus software that is making it so when I come on here all the unread comments are no longer purple. I don’t know how to stop it from doing that. I use Norton.
Uninstall Norton.
Problem solved.
I love Bitdefender
You dont need Norton. Uninstall it and save some money. Windows Defender built into Windows is going to cover most people on their PCs.
“You are the most dynamic, smartest, experienced, and qualified woman of color we’ve ever seen running for President. How do you feel about that?”
I think I found the check box to uncheck. We will see.
That didnโt work either. I unchecked another box. We will see again. Computers are stupid.
Is this actually a thing? If so, I definitely need to make a trip this winter.
Yep its a thing…last year they did it too, I bought a few bottles with the intention of keeping them….Alas, no willpower and they are now empty.
I will be calling my dad and placing an order. Still waiting to open this one (well, one identical to it anyway)

Nice!
My grandpa bought it to drink when the Vikings won the SB in the 70s. The seal broke but it’s still whiskey. The cork fell apart a couple of years ago so I ran it through coffee filters and put a new cork in it. No idea what happened for the first 20 years of its life. It might make me go blind, but I’ll accept it.
OH man, hopefully you can drink it THIS YEAR!
They make non-alcoholic bourbon now, I’m gonna have to try it.
Is this a good thing?
Hell yes.
Worst ownership in sports, after Glen Taylor
Did the T-Wolves sale ever go through?
Nope. Still arguing.
Maybe Jeter will give up on that and just buy the Twins.
Worst current ownership?
Red McCombs comes to mind.
Glen just sucks at finding the right people, heโs willing to spend though
He sang Rhinestown Cowboy, right?
Its a very good thing
Maybe the Wilfs will buy em and put money into the team like they have with the Vikings.
The Wilfs appear to be very good team owners. One complaint I have is that they took too long to fire Rick. And of course, the public money for a private stadium is quite the scam, but anything involving government is already a massive
If an ownership group is going to tend to be too patient or too quick to pull the trigger, I’d prefer they are overly patient. The most successful NFL teams do not have a lot of turnover, even in bad years.
Id be down for that. I think A-Rod swoops in.
I could see that but I just wonder how that would affect the current fight or how the current fight would affect his ability to buy the Twins. It would be funny to see him become the owner of the Twins (or partial owner) and help build a team that takes the Skankees out.
Story is too good, it writes itself. Make it so!
If everyone on Skoloholics pitched in could we form a LLC and buy them?
I am good for $50.
I have a couple million Skoloholics bucks. Would that help? The exchange rate to dollars in not great however.
Good.
Well survived the storm with minimal damage – just debris and down branches. Worse part was lost power for 10 hours. And these modern houses with electronics controlling everything and each has it’s own clock. First world problem.
But we are safe and thankful and hope the rest of the Florida folks are doing well.
Now, let’s win a SB!
Good to hear
Good news!
SKOL!!
Good deal.
Good to hear that you guys are OK.
Yessir!
Gotta defeat Commiela first, then on to the SB. Could be the greatest fall/winter ever.
Glad you’re good man!
Thanks. If you’re still around what do you think about the Musk interview that GF provided up top.
Musk is an evil right wing extremist. Ignore the fact that he’s never voted for a Republican in his life.
hahaha, you sound like edge
Perhaps many if not all of us should spend a little time listening to people that are truly really, really smart.
And I always though Musk was left to moderate.
He is. I was pre-empting.
It seems the air waves are filled with the less than stellar thinkers opining. You don’t learn much listening to dumb people.
Politics aside, this conversation is top shelf.
This is why Musk is called a right wing extremist now
OMG I remember when the far left was screaming for free speech and the Bushes and Chaneys wouldn’t hear it.
And I think that was both Elon and Bill’s point in the interview.
The Bushes and Cheney are scumbags.
I like Elon and Bill, not saying I always agree with either but I do like them both. I do think it’s funny and it’s hard to not have the knee jerk reaction to make fun of the fact that the right’s response to this interview is so laughably predictable. A decade ago, basically anything Bill said would have been written off by pretty much everyone on the right as an idiot and everything he says is a bunch of BS. Bill hasn’t changed, but now because he supports the guy who supports your guy, all the sudden he isn’t just some libtard.
Now, I do agree with Elon and that Harris is a threat to free speech from things she’s said about supporting things that are cancel culture adjacent. But the problem is Trump is a threat to free speech too. He has said reporters he doesn’t like should be thrown in jail… Tell me that’s not an a threat to free speech. This is where I struggle. I don’t believe Harris or Trump actually support free speech. They support speech they like.
Now the point about the left use to be the party that were the free speech advocates but now this stupid cancel culture, woke mind virus issue changed that. Is true, it’s a big problem… but that didn’t mean the right changed their viewpoint. There are still plenty of folks on the right that want moral/religious censorship of free speech. Now if you say those people on the right that want censorship aren’t real conservatives or real Republicans then the opposite is also true.
But the “woke mind virus” is a problem.
I do love the part where they talked about the truth that the Bible and slavery… An ouchy truth there.
It’s so odd I get singled out, I’ve voted for waaaayyyy more Republicans than Elon and yet because I don’t blindly follow the republican agenda around here I am for some reason a liberal?
I was simply interested in your take as I find your thoughts and insights good and make me think.
I like this as I believe in free speech and Elon pointing out that it’s easy when someone is saying something you agree with, but the real test is when it comes from someone you really detest. That’s the real ballgame.
And for sure, both sides will try to destroy a or eliminate speech that harms their agenda.
I know and am sorry, I get defensive and touchy around elections. I have to watch damn near everyone I know go into this extreme state of one sided stupidity. Saw a lib friend post this and said, “It’s Exhausting.” He posts it like it makes a good point. As if it’s actually representative of how most republicans think and act and this kind of stupid logic is just as bad around here but the other way.
Well the government does control the weather and the government/deep state is Democrats.
Dude, chemtrails
Found smart people really respect the opinions of other smart people, even if they differ.
Learned the lesson, actually twice, that we are talking about living in DC.
One time Obama made the decision to work with, whatever you call it, with Iran. I thought that was bad policy – and I was called a racist because I disagreed with the very smart Obama.
Another time, had a close friend (military) tell me this attacking Iran was going to be a total mess. Expressed this to some folks and got back Bush’s line – “you either with us or against us.” So much for free speech and thought.
Either way, either side, don’t want to hear disagreement. And especially if it might be true.
Agreed. And I am always open to what other people have to say especially if I disagree. It’s why I have changed my stance on a lot of things over the years. I don’t have all the answers and the answers I do have are probably wrong haha! With that said, there is so much out there so my way of vetting if I should take their opinion seriously is challenging the principle of what they are saying. This is where people think I am just a contrarian. I heard a Dem say “My body my choice” about abortion around the time of the pandemic and I asked do they really believe that their body is their choice? Then I asked what about the vaccinations they thought everyone should get… and they go, “WELL THAT’S DIFFERENT!!” And to their credit, it is different but the principle of “My body my choice” is not different. So they don’t stand on principled beliefs. So I know not to take what they say seriously. Does that make sense? Many times around here I will apply the principle rationale of something someone said around here but apply that principle against them and see if they stick to their principles or do they squirm and say, “BUT THIS IS DIFFERENT!”
Hey JR, glad you’re OK. Apparently we have a downed tree, the lanai is damaged pretty bad, and the flood waters came up to our doorstep, but never got into the house. Power was out for about 14 hours. There are a lot of roads closed for flooding and debris. We’re remaining in Mobile for another couple days until things are cleaned up a little more.
Safe travel back and hope the damages can be fixed at not to great an expense. Really good flood waters didn’t reach the house.
Good to wait a few days.
Looks like a few folks need to get their picks in for pick ’em league yet before tonight’s game.
Hurry!
I am in the cornfields all day so that is all the reminder I can do…
Is Kristi Noem out there with you??
Better not be. She is not allowed within 100 yards of me with the restraining order. It is always sad when some girls cannot accept I am not interested.
Thanks for saying something! I forgot to get mine in.
Just got an alert on my computer.
Temperatures are going to rise today !!!
Totally shocking that temperatures rise during the day.
The climate fear mongering is going to be very harshly criticized someday. Hope I’m around to see it.
I’m glad to have seen the food pyramid scam get totally dismantled.
Right. I have the impression that people are increasingly recognizing this scam for what it is, another fake crisis meant to usher in even more government control and regulations. Oh, and Al Gore can suck a fat one. Greta too.
Hey freezey, if you are around today you may need to find a Daniel to interpret this dream. I dreamed last night that you lived and worked in a small rural town close to me. We were meeting one day in a library and you told me that your company transferred you to work in the office in the big city that was over an hour away. The company thought it would be a benefit to you and you disagreed. The company set up transportation for you and the other people in the office, but if you missed it, you would have to drive yourself and that of course would take longer due to traffic and parking. You told me that you thought that you would be without a job soon because the day before you had missed the transportation and instead of driving to work, you just went home and didn’t call and tell them you weren’t coming.
It seems dire, but maybe there’s a hidden meaning.
Of course later in the dream I was walking through some water, but that just meant that I needed to wake up and go to the bathroom.
Dreams are weird.
It means the Vikings are going to lose the NFCCG
#nojinx
It means Freezey is a disagreeable and irresponsible fellow who likes to read books. It is likely a shockingly accurate dream.
The irony of the timing of this dream of yours is quite interesting…
I went in and talked to my boss yesterday about trying to get raises for everyone. The company I work for, he owner is very generous but has failed to ever give a raise if someone hasn’t asked for one.
We get bonuses based on total sales and gross margin of said sales. Some months are really good. Some months are bad. When we have a bad month, most of the employees can barely make that month work based on just their base pay.
So i brought up how inflation has nearly doubled pretty much EVERYTHING that is a necessity for families to live their lives.
I know ALOT of companies have given our raises to help their employees with the rise of inflation so i asked if he would consider that for our employees as well.
While good months mean good bonuses, it’s difficult to rely on big sales months when the lsst 2 years has fluctuated immensely per sales months..
So it’s funny you had a dream about my job or A JOB, of mine after I met with my boss and asked for a raise…
The final icing on this dream cake, I’m home sick today so I indeed did not go into work.
Thanks for sharing the dream and mlre importantly, for dreaming of me
Somebody has to dream about you.
Kamala does a live phoner on the Weather Channel acting like she knows weather.

FGW…..
You still haven’t gotten over George Washington chopping down that cherry tree?
Gregg Williams, of course! haha
LOL….
I couldn’t figure out who you meant.
Makes sense now.
LOL, thanks for asking, couldn’t figure out what Pete meant as well. Should have known it has to be Gregg.
soon FGW will be nearly universally understood around here.
maybe.
or maybe not, I don’t actually care all that much.
QotD: What is everyone doing during the bye week, watching football, fall yardwork, or maybe just resting?
I’m emptying out the storage room in my basement, throwing some stuff away, sending some stuff to Goodwill, and putting the rest back in a more organized manner.
Also leaves. There aren’t too many yet, but if I delay too long the job turns into a nightmare.
That’s my plan, get as many of the leaves raked up as possible.
Wife and I will drive up to the Poconos, see the foliage, hit a few of our favorite breweries, and be home in time to watch her beloved Giants
Yard work on Sat.
Sunday: church in the AM and moving our daughter to her new apartment in the PM.
My wife is going to be gone Sat and most of Sun, so I plan on having a easy weekend. I have a few small projects I want to get done like watering my new trees, putting some gravel in some spots on my driveway and moving some book inventory around, but I will do all of that on Sat. On Sunday after church I will probably fall asleep watching football.
My wife is out of town this week (Tue-Fri) and man, I tell ya. The older I get, the more I miss her when she’s not around.
For me it depends. If my anxiety is cranked up, then just her presence helps me. If my anxiety is not cranked up, then a weekend away for her is my time to relax. I’m thinking of making goulash that I can eat on all weekend. She doesn’t like it so I don’t make it when she is home.
I get this weekend off with no wife. I bought a chuck roast I will throw in the smoker. She does not really care for beef, so whenever she is away, I cook a roast or brisket and enjoy life a bit more.
This weekend I will read more, play some video games, watch some martial arts movies she would hate, eat bacon and beef, and take naps.
I’ll still miss her, but I also will enjoy the 3 days of relative freedom.
Little of both. Fall yard work Saturday, bartend Saturday night. Then some of the bar co workers and I are getting together for some day drinking and pumpkin carving, scary movies etc. Should be fun.
Tropicana Field got destroyed in the hurricane, in case you want some visual, and understanding of the power of the storm.
I know we lost power at my house last night around 9 p.m. 3.2M people without power in Fl now.
Glad you got out and are safe, hoping to hear from all of our Florida residents today.
Has anyone heard from JRobert?
http://FTP….forever. (<— not sure why this is showing as a URL, but I like it.)
Did not expect that main image today. What’s the story behind that?
I think GF saw that in an outhouse when they were out hiking.
