Another MT tangent…I have been tediously gluing down pennies to create a floor in the guest shower. On Sunday I had the game on my tablet, propped up in the corner, with the overhead light on (which also turned on the fan). I could smell whiffs of sewer gas. I’d been at it about six hours and my wife walked over from the studio part of the shouse and said my god it stinks horribly back here (I was acclimated). Far as I can tell the gas was being sucked by the fan back through one of the non capped sewer fixtures in the addition. I realized I had a whopper of a headache when I stood up plus my old hips and knees were angry at crouching down for six hours.
I tracked the main smell to where the tub will be, dug down to find the drain pipe but after 18 inches of digging decided there was no drain down there.
My wife ever my protector went full Stalin and called the plumber multiple times leaving vile threats that we had sewer gas and it was making MT sick and he better get his ass there first thing on Monday morning to cap the fixtures, followed by calling the GC and threatening to call the national guard if he didn’t drag the plumber over or I was gonna charge them for my time digging and capping the fixtures at not plumber but MT rates.
Needless to say they showed up at 7 am. Damned if that (open) tub drain was all of three inches deeper than I dug.

I am super goal oriented, I get into a trance like zone where I don’t notice headaches or aching joints. It can happen with procedures, my techs know to interrupt me and ask if I need to change my position as my head is going beet red from awkwardly holding the same position with a biopsy gun and coax needle for minutes on end.
Don’t use Viagra, if you get one of those 4 hour erections you won’t have sense enough to stop.

Years ago, I worked for a painting company and we did a job in Kansas. We were spraying oil based paint on equipment in a grain elevator. Somehow the plastic we laid out on the floor moved and left a large area of the floor exposed. We got overspray all over it. I had to clean it off using MEK, and I started without a respirator. Part way through the job, I realized I was only seeing a small circle in front of me. I think to myself, I should get a respirator on before I die.
I go up to the van to get the respirator, next thing I know I am halfway through town, driving the van. Apparently when I hit the fresh air I blacked out. It took me a couple of minutes to figure out where I was and what I was doing.

I read a quote once upon a time. Something about how people were very worried about their privacy…and the counterpoint was would you install a device in a central point in your home that would allow the government to ring a bell in your home at any time they wanted, day or night? Also, I remember the big ol’ phone books and they would not only publish your number but your address and first name (thus allowing you to tell if the head of household was male or female).
I’ve basically given up hope of privacy with cameras on every corner and public building, and a little super computer we carry on our hip broadcasting our exact location down to a tenth of a meter twelve million times a day.
Pretty sure anyone with half a brain could back track and find out exactly who anyone that posts on here is…I guarantee the NSA can.
I have carefully protected my identity and can not be discovered. Multiple VPNs, fake living place, never mentioned what my job is. Not even the FBI could find me. You can just call be BowBourne if you would like.

Yeah, couple years ago Flores filed a class-action lawsuit against the NFL, the New York Giants, the Denver Broncos, and the Dolphins claiming racial discrimination in the league’s hiring process for coaches and executives.
Flores accused Dolphins owner Stephen Ross of offering him $100,000 for every loss in an effort to tank for the No. 1 draft pick during the 2019 NFL season. He provided texts he alleged were from Bill Belichick demonstrating that the Giants conducted an interview with him while knowing that they intended to hire Brian Daboll as head coach.
No idea what is going on with the lawsuit though.

Personally, I think if they decided Daboll was their man already I would tell candidates, even those not interviewed yet, that the position has been filled and best of luck to you. However, in this situation the Giants needed to comply with the Rooney Rule so they still needed to interview Flores. Now I don’t believe they discriminated against Flores because he’s black, they felt like they found their guy, but that doesn’t make what they did right.
The Rooney Rule is dumb. One could argue that at least the interview experience is good for someone, but in a case like that, how thorough or real of an interview experience was it? Arbitrarily forcing teams to interview minorities does not benefit the minority. If a team is interviewing somebody only to meet the Rooney Rule they are not going to take it seriously. It’s like interviewing an employees kid for a job you know they aren’t qualified for but you do it anyway just to keep your employee happy. It is not good for anybody and is a waste of time.

Yeah it is, Rick had 16 years and never got the QB position right, some bad luck, like who knows how Teddy would have developed had his knee not exploded, some horrendous picks like Ponder and Mond, a bad trade for a guy with a bum knee. Then he kept paying Kirk tons despite the team not making the playoffs very often.
Rick brought Cousins in. He “got the QB position right”. Only 3 QB’s in the league have thrown more TD’s than Cousins since he became a Viking. Three. If you can’t win with a guy like that under center, you have issues elsewhere.
He brought in Kirk and then got fired.
He didn’t get fired for bringing in Cousins, he got fired for drafting a ton of CB’s that never panned out, and drafting/bringing in FA O-linemen that never worked out.
He did bring in Cousins as the “final piece” to a superbowl, after getting to an NFC championship game in 2017.
And that led to an 8-8-1 record and no playoffs.
But Cousins was one of the best QB’s in the league that year. Nice try.

It is not unreasonable, nor irrational to think they would have, because of the expertise and production he has exhibited his entire time here. This year in particular, he was leading the league in passing TD’s and second in passing yards. So yes, it’s rational to believe the team would have won a lot more games with him under center, vice the other three guys.

good friend of mine just diagnosed with cancer. doctors are optimistic and think they can get rid of it with chemo and radiation, but really tough news. he lost his brother to cancer as well so it’s a hard thing to see him diagnosed now.

Doing a colonoscopy Feb 14. Can’t wait for the prep. You age and reality slaps you in the face. I thought i’d live forever when i was 30.
I really didn’t mind the prep. If it is the polyethylene glycol (GoLytely) just keep it in the fridge and drink it on ice. I did the majority of my prep during a Vikings game on the telly so I hardly tasted the prep over the adrenaline of yelling at the TV.
I did two (variations of) BE’s (barium enema) Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday pt the tech was nervous recounting horror stories it went very well great pt etc. Wednesday a different tech, my nicest and most capable tech…the exam was a PITA and we struggled but got it done. As always I pulled out the tip (“olé!”) and left the room while she shot the overheads. Shortly thereafter I heard a stat page for housekeeping to radiology room 2 and boys we had a code brown. Heh heh I said I’m not responsible for what happens after I leave the room, that thar is redacted content.
I’ve had 4 or 5, a bit over due. Took a lady friend for one recently and they said stay with her for 8 hours after. Maybe it’s new druggy stuff. I didn’t understand much of that you mentioned.

Having experienced it first hand and sedative free, I can tell you it is no worse than a post Chipotle burrito with lots of Tabasco clean out.
I was completed out for my 2 colonoscopies.
That’s the only way I would do it.

He is doing as well as expected. They are seeing progress with the treatments, however, it is not responding fast enough, so they have been changing up the treatment. Just this week he got a cold, which isn’t good with his lowered immune system, so they are pumping him full of antibiotics again. They are surprised however that even though he is going through so much, he is keeping in good spirits.

I’m starting to get a Singletary vibe from Flores. He’s very tough and prepared and all that, but his results fell off a cliff in the latter part of the season.
In Flores defense, we have about as many studs on defense as an igloo has in its walls. We need a new defense at all levels.
Yeah its almost like the defense doesn’t have much high end talent, only one truly impact player and toward the end of the season he was playing his 4th/5th string pass rushers and practice squad CBs due to injury. Singletary sucked as a coach and was never even a defensive coordinator, he did pull his pants down during a halftime locker room speech though and was the HC of the 49ers when Favre threw that dart to Greg Lewis to miraculously win that game in 2009. Some may not remember but he was also an assistant in MN when Frazier was HC, and the defense sucked.
I always remember Singletary on the sidelines in his turtleneck and glasses — the scholar badass. Yet, one could tell his teams eventually got sick of the schtick.
That said, as far as I know, I liked Singletary as a player and person. When Payton was dying, Singletary was beside him a lot on his deathbed.
