Packers Tackle David Bakhtiari on QB Aaron Rodgers: “He’s going to be a Jet”

“The Packers are rebuilding whether you think so or not,” Bakhtiari said. “[People will say] ‘Could they be good, I don’t know.’ More people are going to think they’re [the Packers] going to be more bad than good, right? That’s fair to say. Then, they’ll [the Packers] will say ‘We’re going to suck anyways, we want what we want, and we’re not going to bend to anyone, so we’ll just eat it [Aaron Rodgers’ contract]. Stay unretired, we’ll pay you [Rodgers]. We don’t care because if we’re going to do it our way, it’s going to be on our terms. If not, what we’re going to be Super Bowl contenders anyways? We’ll eat it, you [Rodgers] can hang on the side, pay you [Rodgers] your money, we’ll suck anyways, and get the [high draft] picks.”

Calif gives the family of any inmate who dies in prison about $400k, doesn’t matter how they died, old age, heart attack, illness, inmate assault, suicide, didn’t matter. And with HepC a lot are very sick when the get to prison.
The state figured out that lawyers/lawsuits would cost them more than that on average so they don’t even fight it anymore.

If she tried to put hands on him then push her away and if she tried to hit him then sure knock her out but to just blast her was a bit excessive imo but hey tough guys on here like to see a black woman get punched by a white man. For SF to make that deal, they must believe that they can’t get there with Lance, indicating he would be a downgrade from Cousins for us.

Or they don’t think he can now and don’t want to see their SB window close while waiting for him to get there. What kind of compensation would they have to give up? Similar to the Lions/Rams trade?

KFEY93
Reply to  Northwoods
12 April 2023 3:40 pm

Thats not the point. Lance would be a stop gap starter still on rookie deal. The win would be freeing Cousins and his bogus contracts from our books allowing us flexibility to draft AND hit free agency to get our roster back in to shape. Best case, Lance blossoms and were ready to roll, worst case, he’s here for the remainder of his rookie contract and we draft a replacement during that time. Its a BIG WIN for the Vikings with 0 down side.

That remains to be seen. Whats his ass can play a few games if need be to start the season. 2023 is a moot point so its really not that big a deal if he’s ready or not. We wont have a SB roster ready and we will have a 1st place schedule. Its a stacked deck.

Gives the player some control for sure. Traditionally contracts only work to the advantage of the team. It gives them total control of the player and the team can end the contract any time they want, and do anything with the player they want, and the player has no recourse. That’s a good way to do business, huh?

KFEY93

Thats the price of doing business. Kirk doesn’t HAVE to play in the NFL. Teams should have control over players and choose how to run their roster as they see fit. He’s the 10th richest person to play in the NFL I refuse to feel sorry for him, ever. He strong armed the team into mediocrity. Not a fan of that.

Also agree with this take. They spent a lot of treasure to get Lance and Purdy has a very high risk injury that some QB’s never regain full function and accuracy from so he’s no guarantee. They’d either want to much for Lance or won’t take the risk in having Cousins leave after a year if they don’t want to give him more than a 1 yr deal and be left with Purdy who may not make it.

Well Skolly we know that trade isn’t possible unless for some reason Cousins agreed to it. So my sense here is unless KAM acquiesces to Cousins desires regarding his contract, then Cousins will be a free agent next year and sign with someone else. KAM will be stuck with the dead cap money and nothing in return. No harm no foul. Just move on and see if you can find a QB that is half as good as Cousins has been.

Still learning my way around here. Must admit, come here for football but find some of the political takes fascinating, in a good way. Can’t add much other than after living in DC for over four decades and spending far too much time at political cocktail parties, the person you see on TV is hardly the real person.
Regarding football and the KJ discussion about WR2. I wonder but must admit I’m swayed by one big play. A lot has been written about the fourth and eight play that ended last season, but not much is/was said about the third down play. Watching the play over and over, it appears the ball goes cleanly right thru his hands and hits the chest plate of his shoulder pads – a drop. JJ would have caught the ball hundred out of hundred times. Maybe the coverage was tight and the ball could have been more leading, but still a huge drop.
Can KJ beat single man coverage consistantly from an average level NFL CB?

The Conversations here are usually good, sometimes great, occasionally bad. But we are free to express ourselves and get feedback.
KJ may not need to “beat single man coverage ‘consistently’ from an average level NFL CB”. He can run his routes and help JJ by making defenses choose how to defend him and Hock. Play calling can stress the defense and if they make a mistake someone will be open. I believe that is how he got a lot of his receptions last year, D choose to defend JJ/Hock and KJ slipped between the cracks.
Just IMHO of course I am often wrong about complex issues.

Wrenage
Reply to  JRobert

I am not sold on KJ either. He seems more like a #2.75 receiver than a true #2, but I don’t think the split-hair differences matter much for the upcoming season. It is just one to get through and see how things develop.

I just hope we can have our once-a-decade run sometime in the 2020s.

Good point on KJ. I think with seeing so much 2 TE sets I have a hard time thinking we will see a WR in the first round. I think Hock will be the #2 in many situations or even the #1 read in many boots and PA. KJ would be a fine #3 and I think in many instances he really will be.

I’ll be confused if Vikes don’t draft a QB early. If they don’t, then Kirk gets all the leverage again or forces Vikes to draft one in 2024 no matter what.

They don’t have enough picks right now to take a flyer on a mid round QB.

If they pass on QB why didn’t they just try to work something out with Kirk?

Ben, as I rewatched the games over this past few months I noted for the most part all our receivers (including Hockensen) were pretty heavily covered most of the time after the first game of the season. Yes, there were some plays where JJ or KJ broke wide open, but those were more the exception than the rule. KOC’s grand scheme wasn’t all that grand. We were living on spectacular throws and spectacular catches.

Timberwolves should be disbanded. They’ve only had one truly fun season: 03-04. And that got derailed because Sam Cassell hurt himself in the playoffs doing his big-balls dance. That is so Timberwolves.

I basically quit watching them when Kevin Love broke his hand doing knuckle pushups. Yeah, okay, Kevin…

Jealous!!

Back in college I dated a Chinese woman. Unbelievably beautiful, and about 5’8″. I was bartending at a restaurant across from the mall, where her sister worked as a server. Employees weren’t allowed to drink at the restaurant where I bartended, so I would get done with work and meet my girlfriend in the restaurant where her sister worked. Got done a little early one night, went over to wait for my girlfriend. Her sister finished her shift and asked me to walk her out to her car – there was a rash of recent robberies by thieves waiting behind the mall for servers to walk out to the parking lot.

So I walked her out to her car, turned around and walked back in.

My girlfriend got there and asked where her sister was – told her she got done early and asked me to walk her out. Bartended confirmed I was gone about 1 minute. Didn’t matter – my girlfriend broke up with me on the spot.

I think we’d still be together if she didn’t have a sister……..

Asian women be crazy. That’s not sexist or racist because I am just repeating what an Asian woman told me.

Not my wife either. I’ve never asked my wife if Asian women are crazy. I already know the answer because I’m married to her!

The Asian girl that told me Asian women are crazy is probably the smartest person I have ever encountered. It wasn’t just intelligence. She was sharp as a razor blade honed by a laser. Also funny as all get out. I don’t think she was human, honestly.

Trump passes policy that are good for his own pocketbook. It just so happens that some of those policies also benefit other industries. He was good for the economy but I refuse to call a man that has only ever cared about his own bottom line a good president. He is much better than Biden but that is a very low bar. Obama is was way better than Biden, that doesn’t make Obama a good president.

Corona Virus Stimulus Package:

Administration Action: The coronavirus relief bill, which President Trump signed into law, may benefit the president’s businesses in three ways. First, it makes some hotel owners eligible to receive small-business loans to continue paying employees during coronavirus shutdowns, even if they employ hundreds of people. The Small Business Administration, the head of which is a Trump appointee, will have some discretion over allocating these funds. Second, it includes a change to the tax code that lets hotels and restaurants write off money spent on renovations immediately, instead of having to take the deduction over a period of years. Third, it permits real estate investors to use losses to pay less in taxes on profits they earn from other investments.

Trump’s Business Interest: The Trump Organization is a real estate development company that owns and operates hotels and restaurants across the country.

Conflict: Though the coronavirus relief legislation is explicit that the president’s businesses should not receive bailouts from the $500 billion fund for distressed businesses, two other provisions in the bill may benefit hotels and restaurants owned by the president. For example, President Trump’s Washington, DC hotel is believed to qualify for a small-business loan made available in the relief bill. A third part of it may lower his taxes, if he has continued to claim real estate losses on his returns. President Trump has claimed significant losses on his tax return in the past. The new policy rolls back limits on how much in real estate losses could be used to offset other income imposed by the 2017 tax bill.

Coronavirus Immigration Order (so like this one falls under yes he limited immigration, everyone applauds him for but once again, he made sure it doesn’t affect his bottom line).

Administration Action: President Trump signed an order limiting immigration to the United States during the coronavirus pandemic that did not apply to a type of work visa that several of his properties utilize to hire temporary workers at a lower cost. Though President Trump first said he was “suspend[ing] immigration into the United States,” the proclamation that was issued did not apply to immigrants traveling into the country on H-2A and H-2B visas.
Trump’s Business Interest: President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club as well as golf resorts he owns in Florida and New York have applied for and been granted H-2B visas by the Trump administration. The Trump winery in Virginia, from which the President also draws income, has applied for H-2A visas.

Conflict: Excluding H-2A and H-2B visas from the immigration rule protects the President’s businesses’ interest in their ability to continue to use the visas to hire temporary seasonal workers at an inexpensive cost. The Trump winery in particular has reportedly struggled to find American workers.

Oil Drilling Order
Administration Action: In September President Trump signed an executive order extending a ban on oil drilling in the eastern Gulf of Mexico until 2032. The order also imposed a moratorium against drilling off the coasts of Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. This was a sudden reversal for Trump, who had previously supported offshore drilling.

Trump’s business interest: Trump profits from several properties along the Atlantic Coast of Florida, including the Trump-branded Trump Tower Sunny Isles and Mar-a-Lago, his exclusive club and personal residence.

Shall I continue?

Ummm these were Congressional Bills signed by Trump written to benefit businesses in a very stressful period. Trump neither wrote them nor sponsored them, he simply signed them. In fact the bills themselves had provisions written into them to prevent the President from receiving any benefit. I have never seen a bill with any such language before. He could have not signed them, and hurt businesses. Also folks would have said he didn’t sign them because of the clauses I just mentioned, as a political attack on him.

I think this is a VERY skewed twisted view of how legislation works. These were not Trump “policies” which he created for his own benefit. They were Congressional bills he signed for the benefit of the country. The extrapolation here is just political posturing. My opinion.

He did a good job raising oil prices and therefore the stock price of the oil companies I owned stock in. The things that are touted as victories are not things I would agree are great victories. The inflation reduction act for example does exactly the opposite.

His EPA is absolutely ridiculous and does nothing but put unnecessary regulations and burdens on industry, like trying to force companies to spend millions of dollars to reduce haze in wilderness areas an imperceptible amount while ignoring the fact that most visible haze is from wildfires. Wildfires that are getting worse because the forests have been managed to prevent all fires, therefore increasing dead timber and undergrowth. Sorry, that went down a bit of a tangent.

He got troops out of the Middle East, but the way that was bungled and the amount of equipment left behind, I would call that a loss as well.

The Democrat party is so anti corporation and industry it is sickening. Anti police policies have worked out great though. Female sports should get more interesting to watch now that they will be turning into sports for the males that aren’t good enough to compete against other males, basically women’s sports will become the minor league. I really don’t have anything good to say about the Democrat Party or their platforms but that is not due to indoctrination. It is because everything they state they believe in is contrary to my beliefs and what I think is best for me and my family.

Edgecrusher71

I mean, you make some good points but it doesn’t take away from the fact they do do things that are bipartisan good. The fact you can’t bring yourself to say anything positive is the exact same reason Libs can’t find anything good to say about Trump. The Democratic party isn’t anti-industry or corporation, come on you’re better than that. If they were, they’d have no big time financial backers. They are two wings of the same bird. The Dems pretend and chirp to be anti corporation and then take millions and millions from corporate interests? Yeah OK. That checks out.

Also, check the things your family actually believes and see if the Conservatives actually support those things or do they just say those things? For the most part just like Dems they say things to appease to get voted in. They don’t actually care, and if you think they actually represent your values that’s like thinking wrestling is real or buying snake oil.

They are all full of shit but it comes down to supporting the party/candidates that pretend to care about similar things as me or support the ones that admit to the exact opposite. There are some decent dems, but the party as a whole is crap. Bipartisan accomplishments are not dem accomplishments. The core, stated beliefs and goals of the Democratic Party are exactly contrary to what I believe is good for myself, my family, my job and the country. Higher taxes, bad. Higher government spending, bad. Unions, bad. Unlimited abortions all the way to past birth, bad. More regulation, bad. Gun control/bans, bad. Reducing domestic energy production, bad. Forcing economically unfit green energy down the throats of everybody, bad.

I mean Bow, you need a reality check a bit and I am not trying to be mean. The Golden Boy Ronald McReagan raised taxes many times, both Bushes did as well, Trump’s taxes raised taxes for nearly everyone. You are lying to yourself about the number 1 core belief you are sticking to. Higher government spending? Are you kidding? Are you going to try and tell me the deficit didn’t go up during Trumps administration? (I am sure there are excuses as to why but the same type of excuses aren’t true for Obama or Biden?). Unions ARE NOT BAD, anyone who believes that is indoctrinated. Unions have WAAAAYYYYY TOO much power, anyone who doesn’t understand that is just as indoctrinated from the other side. But in and of themselves is not bad. Why can’t we have balance? Why does it have to be all or nothing? Agreed on the abortions, agreed on the gun control, Trump apposed off shore drilling in the areas he owned property on the coast… gee I wonder why. You are lying to yourself about the situation man.

I never said Trump was 100% great, but he did lower taxes, I saw it in my paychecks. The tax reforms did not raise taxes on everybody, that’s just false. Businesses were doing well, wage growth was very high and companies were actually coming back to the US. I don’t care who is the one raising taxes or the deficit be it Democrat, Republican, or a flying monkey. Just because a Republican does it doesn’t mean I agree with it any more.

Unions had their place but as you say have way too much power now. They force employees to pay them dues whether you want to or not then negotiate contracts that don’t really help the employee. In the open economy we have now, open competition for employees would get you a lot further than the unions do. Take Billings for example. We have 3 oil refineries here with union employees. They all negotiate a contract and its pretty much the same from location to location. The companies only have to meet the contract now and shitty employees are protected by the union. Take out the union and the contract and there would be competition between the companies for the best of the employees. The company willing to pay the best and offer the best benefits would get the best employees. Some of the stories I’ve heard from friends about how work “gets done” at the refineries because of union rules is absolutely ridiculous. A job that should take 20 minutes will take 5-6 hours. I am all for the safety of employees and whatnot but the procedures they go through to keep the unions happy are insane.

Trump’s tax policy were very short sighted for the positives for most. The policies stretched into the future would have raised for everyone quite a lot.

Again I think issue you and I are talking about is a big issue. Unions are no inherently bad. Unions having way too much damn power is bad. They were started to balance out the workers having no power. I have the same issue trying to talk sensibly to either side about climate change. Republicans go IT’S A HOAX, IT’S ALL FAKE! It’s like, no it’s not. Same thing with evolution, “IT’S NOT REAL!” And it’s like, no, we have proof things do evolve. Climate is changing but the reason why is what is up for debate. But it’s been so hijacked to be all or nothing. Same thing goes for evolution and the same thing goes for Unions and many other topics. We have been conditioned that the left believes this, the right believes that and you have to choose your side 100% there can be no middle ground or thinking for yourself.

I agree that unions had a purpose, 60 years ago. The time has passed and they do more harm than good. This is not an indoctrinated opinion I got from my TV that I don’t watch, except for hunting, Vikings, and Wild.. This is an opinion based on knowledge from friends and having to deal with unions professionally.

The rest I pretty much agree with. Climate change is so twisted its ridiculous. Everything is because of climate change now. Take the flooding in California for example. I’ve already seen it blamed on climate change but the truth is that the area that is flooding is a freaking lake bed that was artificially drained to make room for more farms. I already explained fires, but every year the wildfires are blamed on climate change, not the past 100 years of mismanagement of the forests. Fires are good for forests if allowed to burn naturally. The problem now is that you can’t just let them burn because of houses and even without the houses the amount of overgrowth is to the point that when a fire does burn through it nukes everything. Instead of opening serotonous pine cones, the fire just melts them and you are left with nothing but invasive weeds.

That’s fair. I just hate when talking to smart, pretty open minded Libs or Conservatives, I just want to push them over the edge to open their eyes on that their side is just as shitty so we can get some common ground and get some shit done lol.

I bought into the Obama shit his first run. Partly because I liked McCain and he turned into a tool for the party once he got the nomination and that pissed me off haha I was a young kid in college who grew up in an area that I rejected everything about living in the country with horses. I still to this day don’t know how to saddle a horse even though we had them my whole life growing up, I skate boarded, played in metal bands, wore baggy clothes with crazy bands on them from Hot Topic lol etc… So naturally I rejected the thoughts and party that represented what I thought of at the time as just dumb hicks (some are lol). But… I have come a long way since then. I had to open my eyes to the fact the Democratic party was a putrid pile of horse shit… just like the Republican party lol.

Yes, one party wants to take all our rights and freedoms away from us and enslave the population to them… the other does not… more or less (I think there are RHINO’s and career politicians who are cheering the Dem’s on).

Conservatives want small Government that represents us not rules us. Liberals want Socialism where we are under the total control of the Government.

Conservatives want small Government. Yes. Less taxes, less Government.

True Conservatives do. That doesn’t mean politicians are truthful about it. You can be a Conservative and not a grifting politician.

Then why do you keep voting for guys that consistently make the government bigger and raise taxes? The proof is in the pudding.

There’s no candidates that don’t. Can’t vote for something that doesn’t exist.

Well Trump is quite a dummy himself. The reason he doesn’t workout is he thinks we are like batteries or like life bars from Mortal Kombat and when you workout you expend that energy pushing you closer to death. Makes total sense.

You can be a terrible person and still a very smart person who is also a great leader. The thing is I think you can make the argument he is making and have it not sound terrible. Problem is the things I think Trump really loves about those leaders is the fact that they get to be dictators while Trump isn’t even a dick-tater more of a spud-dick lol. He is so jealous he doesn’t get to do whatever he wants to make his bank account thrive without being apposed.

Or you can be like Biden and be a terrible person, an idiot and a horrible leader.

Trump is also a terrible person, an idiot and honestly a better leader than Biden but anyone who has any critical thinking skills wouldn’t be lead by Trump. He is a terrible leader but a good entertainer. You’d have to be complete moron or a complete tool for your political identity to be lead by either.

But if Trump called those leaders really stupid, you would point out how terrible a leader Trump is for not having “diplomacy skills”.

They all lived including the pilot in the other plane that exploded and the wing fell off. He had a chute on lol….

Holy shit! That’s crazy. I did that once (skydiving) back when I was young and dumb.

When I did it we had to climb out the window (small plane), stand on a step welded to the side of the plane, hold on to the wing strut and then jump.
Jump master wrote that I started ‘swimming’ to catch back up to the plane when i saw it leaving me behind.
Once in a lifetime experience, glad I did it and can cross it off my bucket list.

Exactly the same for me. I was the biggest/tallest so I was first to go. Jumpmaster said that the plane could not safely land with all of us on board so I was going out one way or the other. Not sure if that was true but at the time I definitely expected him to whip out a hammer or something if I refused to go out the door. I remember the feeling of dread as I put my right arm way out on the strut like it was yesterday.

I had just convinced myself that I wasn’t going to jump and climb back into the plane when the Jump master gave me the jump signal. Next thing I knew I was watching the plane leave me behind.
Kind of surreal looking back on it.

I refuse to Bungie Jump, mostly because I don’t trust a ‘Carny’ to not screw it up.

The Vikings Miss The Pick

(Dave doesn’t typically publish a new comic MWF during draft season) here’s something from the past

From the sound of things, Baltimore didn’t commit to the trade in time, and when the Vikings realized the trade wasn’t official, it was too late and they didn’t have a backup plan to pick somebody.

I find it hard to believe that with only 6 players selected at that time, the Vikings couldn’t have dashed to the podium and picked ANY of the 4 remaining top 10 ranked players and come out just fine.
