Sorry for missing this weekend & for this morning’s delay. The weekend was a blur, our A/C decided to take a dump, and it’s in the mid to upper 90s here. We also had Mother’s Day stuff to do, and yard work to complete. It’s been a fun one. Got up this morning, been trying to get quotes from HVAC folks, get numbers put together for a new listing in my hometown for a 1:00 meeting with the seller, I have to meet an inspector in Beulah at 11:30 for a home that we’re selling, AND I have 21 inspections to complete this week that stretch from Williston (NW corner of ND) to Edgeley (SE area of ND). It’s gonna be a wild week. Hey, it’s better than being bored!
Vikings Discussion
Hey, it’s cool to see Vikings players doing football things on a football field once again! I know it’s just rookie minicamp, but it’s still a refreshing break from the stupid rumors & made up BS by the sports media journalists. Also, I am SUPER STOKED to get out to Minneapolis in a couple weeks so kiddo can participate in Justin Jefferson’s youth football camp. I’ll put together a report from the camp, and hopefully kiddo and I can do a podcast afterwards so he can fill you all in on the fun. Also, for those of you who participated in our fantasy league last year, I think my wife said that the prizes & stuff that we had ordered are finally going to be arriving, and we’ll be sending those out the second we get them. Sorry for the delay, life is crazy ’round here. SKOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Watched this over the weekend, I’m glad I don’t live in California anymore. Also might make you reconsider buying things on bookface marketplace.
Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.
- Twitter sized version: Be cool to one another.
I think we all hope something like that occurs, but seriously. He hasn’t set foot on a real NFL field, in a real NFL game, against a real NFL defense yet. The table is completely set for him. Strong defense, completely mature offense, tried and true veteran skill position players, and an offensive line that is looking like potentially the best one we’ve fielded in a decade or more. All McCarthy has to do is not cock it up.
Keyshawn Johnson says Rodgers is signing with the Steelers, 100%, “Do you think that Aaron Rodgers wants to hold them hostage and then leave them standing at the altar? I don’t.”
Johnson doesn’t see Pittsburgh waiting much longer though. He thinks Rodgers will be in the building, and on the practice field the next time the team re-groups.
“I believe he will be at OTAs,” Johnson said.
Organized Team Activities (OTAs) start May 27 and are not mandatory. Several veterans miss them each offseason, especially those dealing with contract negotiations. A 41-year-old quarterback would not be a likely candidate to attend, but Keyshawn thinks Rodgers will be on the field with his new teammates before the end of the month.
Keyshawn has always been an idiot.
The Douche will 100% sign but Pittsburgh won’t wait much longer.
Makes perfect sense.
Speaking of a free press……
Because tariffs are NOT causing rising prices, it’s still bad.
Woke Logic is not Logic.
Free here means the right to be stupid.
i suppose if the vikings HAVE to play back to back overseas games this year…
i’d definitely prefer it be against the Steelers and the Browns.
Yeah, why, though? At least they are both “away” games, from what I saw. But really, NFL? Seems unfair…
Might be the suck up necessary to be allowed into the Superbowl though.
I had to look, KC won the SB (twice) as did the NYG in years they played in international games.
I knew it !!
but…..we have played international games and NOT won the super bowl…..
In the past. That is all BJJ. We are now in the era of AJJ.
The NFL is trying to grow the international brand and they know how good the Vikings are going to be for the next 20 years with JJ McCarthy so they are selling the team to the international audience now to be ahead of it.
I sure hope he’s good, because I have never met someone who went to the University of Michigan who isn’t conceited and essentially insufferable. Perhaps I shouldn’t generalize, but it is a lot of encounters, so it’s hard not to. And even if he is, but he’s good, I won’t care haha.
Watch the video I posted. Kay Adams fell in love with him. Chris Simms said he’s awesome and wishes he could tell his daughter to dump her boyfriend and marry JJ.
why prefer to play those teams? because they suck
No, why 2 games on foreign soil? Has any team ever had to do that before?
It’s complete BS. Where’s the formula for that shit? Buried with compensation rules?
If you recall, I think the Vikings were the first and only team ever to have a TD taken away for a penalty noted on receiving footage for confirmation of touchdown, when they added that in for a season or two. The NFL just loves to make the Vikings new firsts!
Jacksonville did it once
By choice
T’wolves play at 9 o’clock tonight, gods time. It will be another 4-5 hours of sleep night for me.
On the Twins, I have watched every game that was televised, so far this year. So far they are undefeated in those games. It’s probably me.
As long as Curry doesn’t play, no worry.
would love to see us win tonight so the pressure is all on the warriors…and my money would be on the wolves
gods time is mountain time. 8 pm.
Wow. Watching the Twins is painful.
Not the last 10 days it hasnt
Checks the standings……
After an 8 game winning streak, they are still in fourth and 5 games out of first.
And only 121 games left.
@You are right, practically mathimaticly eliminated@
All they have to do is win 10 more in a row and they might be battling for the division. Totally realistic.
Actually they just have to win 6 more than the 1st place team over the next 121 games.
Totally realistic.
Ok sure.
Do you think this really happens?
It is the Twins, little chance of it happening.
That is not the same as ‘it can’t happen’.
Exactly the point.
You were not doing a very good job of making that point which is why you were getting some pushback.
And Det, KC and Cle have been tops in the AL and been winning as well which is why they only gained 2 games in the standings. Come on DE…this isnt football. Season is in its infancy. Teams that are in first can end up last and vice versa. I expect them to be a .500 club and maybe get a WC if they can play like this. They just swept a very good Giants club.
Never trust them. On a 6 game road trip and could go 1-5. Will see.
Yeah. I just don’t see the Twins contending for anything other than the basement.
They could just as easily go on a 10 game losing streak.
But they have won 8 in a row and have a winning record now.
#nojinx
And are still in fourth place.
And 120 games left.
But only 1 game away from being a wild card.
They won’t lose again all year !!!!
Book it !!
Another Clinton program of Midnight Basketball.
I might see it first thing in the morning if it goes to OT.
They should be able to shave a half hour off it, wt? In the midwest if part of a western conference anything you miss games. And i’m retired!
Looks like Edan Alexander is back in Israel, and has been reunited with his mother.
@I hope Kilmar Garcia is next to be repatriated@
Yeah… we really need that to happen.
The Biden administration claimed to have added almost 400,000 jobs from July through September of last year, but new data released this week suggest none of those jobs ever existed. Despite constantly gaslighting by the mainstream media, Americans knew the economy was in poor shape and these latest numbers prove it.
Monthly job reports are compiled from a survey of over 600,000 businesses, of which fewer than 200,000 are surveyed each month. But the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) also publishes much more comprehensive quarterly data called Business Employment Dynamics (BED) that come from a census of over 12 million businesses—that’s over 17 times the sample size of the monthly job reports’ survey.
This more accurate dataset was just released by the BLS for the third quarter of last year, which ran from the start of July through the end of September. In stark contrast to the monthly job reports showing an increase of 399,000 jobs during the third quarter, these new numbers show a decline of 1,000 private-sector jobs.
The lengths to which the Democrats will go to lie to the American people are disturbing, galling, and angering. They reported almost 400,000 jobs that never existed were added to the workforce.
It’s a joke. It is extremely rare that the report – original number – doesn’t get revised downward just couple of months later. And then there’s the unemployment rate which is an even bigger joke.
There is no doubt a lot of politics here ,but also a great amount of incompetence. And yet no one does anything about it.
I think when the Dem’s are in charge, inaccurate data that enhances their political position is fine. When a Republican is in office the most minor misreporting is called out loud and clear. Also positive news is quashed, and negative news is overstated, and exaggerated to the max.
The Dem’s and the mainstream media have propagated the greatest misinformation campaign in history over the last 30 years on the American people. We need laws that allow the American people to sue news outlets that lie to them.
Don’t we really want a “free” press to say whatever they will. We just need “smart” people to wade thru what they are hearing and reach their own conclusions.
We want a free press that is held accountable for their commentary.
Who’s going to decide what’s right and what’s wrong and where will this be decided – in our non partial judicial system?
At this point the Electorate has done a better job than the Judiciary.
Lies are self evident, and of course in a court of law, the truth can be adjudicated. Just give the public the ability to use the law.
Legal does not equal Logical.
Add in Bias Judges and it becomes a roller coaster.
A free press must also be an honest press. If a claimant can prove the media lied to the populace then there must be a legal way to remedy it. Trump has already sued ABC and George Stephanopoulos for $15M (and won). The populace should hold the media’s feet to the fire for lying as well.
It is very costly to sue large Corps like news agencies.
Trump can afford it but not ‘normal’ people unless they find a legal group who will work Pro Bono.
Agreed. But, large law firms will line up and take on a case if a large award is on the table.
NLV – either we have a free press or we don’t. And free according to our founders meant free to speak as they wish.
Going back as far as the Adams/Jefferson election where the press said everything except something good about Adams allowing a Jefferson victory, Adams never thought even remotely of holding the press accountable for their numerous hit jobs.
And the trouble with evaluating “lies”, a few things are black and white, but the vast majority are various shades of gray.
I’m not talking about mud slinging, I’m talking about lying on purpose to the American people. You can’t allow a free press, if it’s not an honest press. The price of the privilege of a free press is integrity.
But they will define Integrity as ‘doing whatever they have to in order to fight Hitler’.
Only because the liberals scream free speech, free press, and freedom of expression, while lying to us, and we accept that.
Time to put our foot down.
Just tell me – who is going to decide if it’s 100% lie or just 85% and what percent is big enough?
And even if that threshold is crossed, there is the mater of intent. Is it an honest error? Is that acceptable?
Folks sued McDonald’s for hot coffee JR. Believe me, lawyers can argue complete falsehoods the press puts out.
Well to me this is how free speech should work.
I read the Washington Post for decades. Slightly left leaning (at the time) but had a wonderful group of conservative staff and. editorial writers – good sports writers too.
But then Graham fied and the paper was sold and the editorials started on page 1.
I dropped my subscription as did many others. We held them accountable.
MSNBC is going under, no one will buy them, because of their crappy journalism. That’s the way the system should work.
Well to me, using the First Amendment to allow you to lie to the American public is a violation of the public trust. As such, people who doing so must be prosecuted.
The 1st Amendment purpose is to protect speech, including lying.
Yelling fire in a theater is bad, hate speech is a slippery slope, it all gets messy quickly.
Freedom of speech should never protect lying. That is irrational.
So the Gov/Courts decide what a lie is? That is the question.
They did such a good job on Misinformation/Disinformation.
It is clear you feel that a press that lies to the people is totally acceptable. I have a completely different view.
Totally Acceptable??
No one has pushed that absolute but you.
No lies means we would not even have advertising which pays for 90% of media.
You’re now rationalizing, instead of just dealing with the simple concept that if a we have a free press, they should be held accountable to not lie to us.
Lots of people don’t fact check. With the media today you better. When the BS affects a stupid voting base it can be problematic.
Yep. Stephanopoulos said on air that Trump was found liable for the rape of writer E. Jean Carroll which was a lie. He was never convicted of rape. Then other liberal news shows started referring to Trump as a convicted rapist, knowing full well it was a lie.
Freedom of speech should protect everything, it is up to the people to decipher if it is lying or not.
So you want to turn this issue over to the wonderful trial lawyers association of America.
Not to mention all those brilliant Judges we have in this country.
And you mention McDonald’s. I love very hot coffee. And now because some clumsy person couldn’t drive and hold a cup of coffee, me and everyone else has to drink luke warm coffee. Yea, this system of justice is terrific.
I made my point though. If you can sue and win for hot coffee, you should be able sue and win when a media outlet betrays the public trust and purposely lies.
And we as conservatives think it is ridiculous to be able to sue over hot coffee – don’t people have some damn responsibility over their actions.
And aren’t their honest lies, misjudgements and all of that – where would this end up.
Robert Novak, one of the most conservative journalists in our history, got caught providing more “miss statments” than just about anyone else. He didn’t get sued.
We need less not more law suites. Less lawyers too.
So that makes it right. OK JR, I see it as despicable, and not protected speech that should be punished. You don’t. Good to go.
Not really. It’s an imperfect world. I see it as a slippery slope, maybe even lesser of evils. I guess I’ll take some miss statements in the name of a free press, rather than having their every statement decided in a court room – trial lawyers and liberal judges. Flat out guarantee you if it should go that way, we as conservatives will lose.
The same with Lincoln.
You had the Republican/Lincoln/Union press and the Demorcud/South/Slave press.
You knew what you were going to get even before you started reading.
Correct. The press has always been what it is.
His helmet looks too small.
NFL season opener…..
Cowgirls & Poopeaters.
NFL going with division rival openers this year???????
I guess the NFL has gotten tired of the Vikings making the Packers 0-1.
FTP!
Always.
Division winners usually open the next season at home.
OK, so they JJ is going to start his NFL career with a MNF victory in Detroit. Nowhere did I say anything about where it would be.
Settle down, I was just advising you. Don’t get your knickers in a twist.
McCarthy might not have the opening night we’d like though. Last year we lost 31-9 at their place. The Lions had the #1 scoring offense in the league last year, and so we will really need the defense to play their hearts out if we’re going to have a chance.
Would rather start with the Jaguars or Patriots or someone like that.
At least if we open with a loss to the Lions it’s not going to induce panic.
Gonna be even greater when JJ leads the Vikings to a 20 point victory over the Lions on Monday night and the NFL is introduced to the new greatest QB in the NFL.
Hopefully ex-Wolverine Aidan Hutchinson doesn’t “sweep the leg” (I always thought the sensai said “sweep the lick” in Karate Kid) on his mini meniscus.
Dow up big today (knock on wood)
That damn Trump, ruining the economy!
42,219.85+970.47 (2.35%)today
Obviously he doesn’t know what he’s doing. We’re headed for a recession!!!!
I thought it was runaway inflation??????
Yeah DE, everything the Dem’s say is a lie… I just now figured that out though…
He’s only trying to help his rich friends while pooping on the little people.
Obviously
Well all us little people with 401k’s will kindly take a little pooping.
Only rich people are affected by the stock market.
Too big to fail.
The train robberies thing is pretty sickening. Gotta have a major crackdown with big penalties if we want society to get back to decency.
I’m always leery of new-in-box things being sold on Facebook.
We had a visiting minister speak at our church one time and he was telling the story about when he had started a new church. One of the new members that had joined was from a very shady background, however, he was trying to get his life on track and was very enthusiastic about joining the church and got involved in any way that he could. The pastor decided one day that they should do a fund raiser for the church and asked everyone to bring things in for a garage sale. The day of the garage sale this new member pulls up with the back of his truck full of new in the box tvs. The pastor had to very diplomatically tell him that they couldn’t sell those at the garage sale.
I see that as a win win. Gets to unload some stolen TVs and the church gets a nice bump for the fund raiser.
That’s some good patient teaching from your pastor.
The top is updated, I gotta run, busy f***ing day & week for me.
Busy is better than Boring IMHO.
I like something right in the middle. Not too busy, but busy enough not to be bored.
I see it as Hectic, Busy, Boring.
That puts Busy in the middle.
Then GF is in the Hectic box this week.
Sounds l like it.
I’m doing colonoscopy prep so just shitting around looking at computer 🙂
Nice… shitting around. Good luck with the exam.
I did my prep on a Sunday when the Vikings were playing, worked out well to sip the GoLytely on ice during the action and then head to the bathroom during breaks. Continued prep at work on Monday, by that time it was just liquid so no biggy.
The Teacher went thru that a few weeks ago.
I went through it the ‘Army Way’ which was way worse.
Not to mention the 3hr Korean train ride to the exam and back afterwards.
What’s the Army Way?
Much more complicated/intense that what The Teacher just went thru, it involved multiple enemas.
Keep your friends close and your enemas closer.
“They say that in the Army, the chow is mighty fine…
you devour it in the morning, and end up riding pine.”
Life is fun when your sports teams are at least competitive and winning. If the Twins can be a .500 ball club through the summer and get the team sold thats a W in my book. Wolves making WCF would help too. It will be August before we know it and Football will be back on the menu boys. SKOL TWINS SKOL WOLVES #HockeyisLame
FIRST! Happy Monday to all. Go Wolves.
