Moss has Bile Duct cancer.
Brutal.
Hopefully he can get back to normal.

Cancer involving the pancreas is usually not good.

There is a duct between the pancreas and the liver that delivers bile.
The procedure removes the duct and gall bladder to hopefully stop the spread of Cancer.

I got to meet him once at a snowmobile thing on Mille Lacs when I was a kid. He was pretty nice to us from what I remember. Also met Bob Lurtsema.

Hope you two are back for good, you were missed.
I’m hoping to get some ice fishing in Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully my back holds up for both days. It’s a workout this time of year, having to drag the house out by hand. I don’t think I will be able to hit my hot spot from last year yet. That lake just froze over about a week ago. Will have to try some smaller lakes in the area. Luckily, there is a lot of them to try.
Was there any ice fishing at all last year? I don’t remember seeing much of any.
What are some of the good lakes?

my brother in law pulled his jetski out on christmas day and buzzed around the lake. on CHRISTMAS DAY.

I went running in a T-shirt in January.
Apparently, 81 was pretty good, too. I don’t remember it, but mom said it got up to 65 in January. I looked back at weather data, and by golly, she was 100-percent right.
Hit 65 on January 24 here in 1981.

I think it was 93 or 94 it was cold, but no snow. People I knew were hauling their snowmobiles to northern Canada to go riding.
I was able to get out 3-4 times. The ice was terrible, and could not drive on it. I was dragging my sled about a mile out to get to my hot spot.
I usually go to the Iowa Great Lakes, but loon and pearl can be nice. I also like to go to SoDak
Dragging an ‘Ice House’ out on the lake by hand with a bad back sounds sub-optimal.
Maybe slightly better than entering a deadlifting weight competition.
I’m thinking of trying to do a 5K tomorrow in my crutches.

Not necessarily a bad back, but a weak back. I have abused it working hard for the majority of my life. Not to mention working on a cement floor in steel toed boots for 20-30 years.
Now I sit at a desk most of the day, so it does not get the workout it used to.
I have similar issues only with my knees.
HS wrestling, Army adventures, Marathon, prison walking on concrete and metal tiers, etc.
Now I have to put on a Patella brace whenever I do anything too strenuous.
HS wrestling also did a number on my knees.
Paying for it now.
my dad used to take me ice fishing when I was you. I had to shovel snow then use the manual auger to get a few holes cut and sit on a camp stool in the frigging wing. Frozen my a$$ off. i hate ice fishing. it was also my job to get fresh minnows out of the minnow box. Too much discomfort for a few crappies

Yeah, it’s not fun if you start getting cold. These days there is so much nice stuff that you can buy so ice fishing is enjoyable. Of course some of it is expensive but it’s must have stuff if you’re really into ice fishing.
I have a nice insulated pop up fish house with a Mr. Buddy heater. Sometimes I am just in a t-shirt, while fishing.
Although, I have drilled an 8″ hole through 30″ of ice manually. That is a tough work out.
Yup, a warm shack is nice. You’re almost there JV, just need that power auger.
I have upgraded to a battery striker last year.
Gotta get a snow dog, those things are awesome. We got one to pull our pop out and gear sleds out
For that kind of money I will eventually get a used 4 wheeler. Usually I only have to drag it out in the 1st couple and last couple of weeks. The ice usually gets thick enough to drive my truck on.
