  • Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
  • Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
  • Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
  • All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something feel free to ask. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here. Just be civil and cool to one another.

Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell told reporters at a Monday press conference that Justin Jefferson did not report for the first day of the first phase of the team’s voluntary work. Jefferson is set to make $19.743 million in the fifth and final year of his rookie deal.

O’Connell said it “remains to be seen” what Jefferson will do over the rest of the offseason and that the team wants “him here as much as we can have him.”

I thought I saw that Scrabble released a game version with no scoring points….cause ya know….can’t have winners and losers!

DE Viking
Reply to  NoDakRube
15 April 2024 3:00 pm

Yep.

In the new version, a double-sided board offers the traditional game on one side and Together mode on the other. Instead of competing to see who can score the most points and show off their knowledge of obscure two-letter words, Scrabble Together encourages working with friends to conquer predetermined challenges. Players win Scrabble Together when they complete 20 challenges. If players have used up all the helper cards and cannot complete a goal, they must concede.
The idea behind Together mode was to make the game more interactive and inclusive, said Ray Adler, vice president and global head of games at Mattel. Research conducted by the company revealed that competition was not as important to younger players as having a way to connect with others and have fun. The new version prioritizes teamwork in order to adapt to those changing values.
“Scrabble has truly stood the test of time as one of the most popular board games in history, and we want to ensure the game continues to be inclusive for all players,” Mr. Adler said in a statement. “For anyone who’s ever thought ‘word games aren’t for me’ or felt a little intimidated by the classic game, Scrabble Together mode is an ideal option.”

For those so bored they choose to read a MT post.

Sunday was moving day. With any luck this will be the last moving day that I have any control over, and the next move will be to a nursing home when I am a drooling demented vegetable. The good news is that the addition is for all intents and purposes complete. The bad news is that I’m sore AF (of course I refuse ibuprofen). The good news is I had my son-in-laws able help and my tractor with pallet forks to make the short transport from the shipping container to the shouse. The bad news is everything smells like stale shipping container and musty cardboard.

Hey, at least nothing broke!

Thinking of you today with your upcoming move. We have a few restoration hardware pieces whose appearance belies their true weight. Even with those forearm straps you just can’t avoid some awkward transfers and my back doesn’t recover as quickly as it did when I was 18 and laughed at such things as using my back to lift instead of my knees.

I did get my shelter belt tilled out on Saturday. That’ll be another week of back exercises as I still need to run water from my shallow well to the irrigation pipes, lay out the drip irrigation system in three rows, and plant 340 little treelets. Oh, and mustn’t forget another three strand fence to keep the cows from munching on the treelets and scarifying the ground with their hooves.

KAM has stated that he plans to judge any ‘trade up’ considering that the player taken has to be worth more than all the players those picks would have gotten.
It doesn’t sound like a missive trade up is planned. He might make a ‘modest trade up’ if they are enamored with a certain player.
What I like most about what he said was “we love certain players, we love certain players if we can get them for the right price”.

I agree. I think KAM is so far much better than Wryck, although the low bar was set very low.

KAM seems willing to let talent leave if the value is not there (Thielen, Kirko) and also willing to move up or down if he thinks the value is there.

He just needs to make sure the scouts have properly valued the players they are looking at. (Cine).

And Cine was injured game 4… seems like a pretty good comparison… I am NOT saying he would be good but you can’t say how good he could have possibly been without that injury though. You can’t. It’s literally impossible. This isn’t rocket surgery. You guys get so damn absolutist and it has to be black and white. This is a gray area. It’s very possible he could have been at least serviceable without the injury by the end of the year or year 2.

I also wonder if he still has lingering effects from the injury.

Diggs basically had no one in front of him as a WR1. JJ had an aging Thielen in front of him.

Cine had Harry and Bynum, which are two pretty good safeties. I believe the original plan was to have Cine sit behind Harry for the season.

A different take on Cine selection. Believe there are certain key positions – offense, QB,WR left tackle and on defense rusher and CB. Not saying other positions aren’t important, but these are key.
I just don’t see using a first round pick for a safety – especially if you have other holes. Now, there are exceptions – if Ronnie Lott is out there, go get him.

It’s tough isn’t it because we use to have presidents with some moderation to them, and/or actually willing to work with the other side. I mean even Clinton by European standards or classical definitions would have been a Classic moderate conservative.

Met a great couple, and the guy had 40+ years in the Navy. now retired, and loves being on the water, so they cruise all the time. spend less than one week at home per month.

He was in Nam, on the ground during the tet offensive. Man, that was eye opening for sure. Not all people are asshats. He and his wife are great people, and I am better for having met them.

We are still in the silly rumor period of the NFL calendar, so take this with a grain of salt.

I heard a rumor from someone who supposedly knows someone who knows stuff that the Vikings have an agreement in place to trade up and get the #3 pick.

Assuming that is true (probably isn’t) then the question would become why haven’t they made that trade already?

The answer could be they are indeed waiting to see what happens with the Falcons tampering issue.

Auto Rec! Great movie! We had an Office Space party at my parent’s house in high school. My mom loved that movie. She had an employee who’s girlfriend worked a bank and the bank was upgraded their computers so were just throwing out a bunch of old computers and monitors. So they got a bunch for the Office Space party to destroy after the movie played. It was a lot of fun. We had to try and sync up it playing on 3 different screens. One in the kitchen, on in the living room and one in the basement. We pressed play at the same time and then saw which one was lagging behind the other and by how much. Took a little bit but we got all 3 on basically the exact same spot haha. I have a red swingline stapler for a reason lol.

BTW, I think the Biden administration secretly signed an emissions standard regulation recently, that will basically “outlaw” any fossil fuel vehicle beginning in 2027. I read an article about this, and it’s irritating how an administration can enact a regulation like this that affects most of the vehicles (and their owners) in the country. There is no proof of “Man-made climate change” and to have liberals doing this kind of crap behind the scenes is gonna cause a lot of problems. For instance, there isn’t enough electricity available to charge all the vehicles. Read an article where Virginia says they need ten new nuclear power plants now, to keep up with demand.

WASHINGTON – Today, March 20, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced final national pollution standards for passenger cars, light-duty trucks, and medium-duty vehicles for model years 2027 through 2032 and beyond. These standards will avoid more than 7 billion tons of carbon emissions and provide nearly $100 billion of annual net benefits to society, including $13 billion of annual public health benefits due to improved air quality, and $62 billion in reduced annual fuel costs, and maintenance and repair costs for drivers. The final standards deliver on the significant pollution reductions outlined in the proposed rule, while accelerating the adoption of cleaner vehicle technologies. EPA is finalizing this rule as sales of clean vehicles, including plug-in hybrid and fully electric vehicles, hit record highs last year.
EPA projects an increase in U.S. auto manufacturing employment in response to these final standards, consistent with the broader Biden-Harris Administration commitment to create good-paying, union jobs leading the clean vehicle future. Strong standards have historically contributed to the U.S. leading the world in the supply of clean technologies, with corresponding benefits for American global competitiveness and domestic employment. Since President Biden took office, companies have announced more than $160 billion in investment in U.S. clean vehicle manufacturing and the U.S. auto manufacturing sector has added more than 100,000 jobs.

These standards will provide greater certainty for the auto industry, catalyzing private investment, creating good-paying union jobs, and invigorating and strengthening the U.S. auto industry. Over the next decade, the standards, paired with President Biden’s historic Investing in America agenda and investments in U.S. manufacturing, will set the U.S. auto sector on a trajectory for sustained growth. Additionally, the final standards will lower costs for consumers. Once fully phased in, the standards will save the average American driver an estimated $6,000 in reduced fuel and maintenance over the life of a vehicle.
