Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something feel free to ask. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here. Just be civil and cool to one another.
Good morning Americans, it’s Friday.
You are clearly a xenophobic.
How about this for a Mattison replacement?
https://x.com/nflrums/status/1758220254172352571?s=20
The Vikings under KOC in 2022 rushed for fewer yards per game than all but five teams in the league (6th worst). This year they fell to 4th worst after KOC stated somewhat repeatedly in the offseason that they were working hard on making the run game better.
At this point, I think KOC needs to hire someone who knows how to actually build and execute a potent rushing attack. Especially since the Vikings will have nothing special under center this year.
Maybe that’s because Mattison is bad and Cook was washed?
I don’t think Cook was/is washed. I think our interior O-line and scheme sucked.
He sure tore it up for the Jets.
You forget the sarcasm font.
#grin
Jets barely played him, and their run game overall was bad.
Breece Hall was hurt early/ coming back from injury as soon as he was healthy he was very effective, especially in the receiving role. Did you actually watch them play or are you just looking at stats on a piece of paper?
I think he was pricy and we were not going to get our $$s worth out of him due to our crappy line and poor scheme.
No doubt he was pricey. I’m talking about how bad the run game has been under KOC though, not how much a player costs.
Talk about whatever you want.
I was talking about why we moved on from him.
He was pricy and not worth it to us, or to the Jets or even to the Ravens evidently.

You had me at Turd Ferguson
I want to see him come out to the practice field with a jersey that says “Ferguson” on the back.

It appears more and more that the shooting that happened yesterday was gang related and not some grassed Tranny Mass Shooter. Seeing as only two people got shot and the guy that got tackled by fans looked to be like 5’2 and 90 lbs soaking wet, either a kid or a your standard malnourished gang banger.
That’s something we won’t have to worry about in a Vikings SB parade. People will be too busy pinching themselves thinking they are dreaming to think of doing anything violent.
LOL, we don’t have to worry about the Vikings ever having a SB parade, let alone a shooting
It was 22 people ranging in age from 8 to 47
Also, here is a picture of two of the suspects
Were all the injured people shot or were they injured in the stampede after the gang bangers started shooting?
Its in the mythical words up top, but since nobody reads those, it is one dead, 22 shot
https://www.foxnews.com/us/kansas-city-shooting-chiefs-super-bowl-parade-leaves-dead-wounded
I’ve heard reports both ways, but I haven’t looked at any of it much since this morning and I just don’t trust the media. They will spin the hell out of their wording to make things sound better or worse depending on the narrative they are trying to push.
I generally wait until the police confirm things, which they have in this case.
One I just found says that 11 of the 22 people injured were children. Not sure what they mean by “children.” Were they 17 year old gang bangers involved in the dispute? It also says of the 11 “children”, 9 were shot and the other two sustained other injuries.
Seems plausible it is gang related. the non shooting injuries were probably in the melee of everyone fleeing. Either way, it is horrible.
Absolutely horrible. I just hate how the media twists their words to make people think something is worse or better than it really is. Just use clear language and tell us what happened.
Believe children’s hospital spokesman mentioned 9 kids had gunshot wounds.
I’ll try that pic again
Yup…not gang related *rolls eyes* hey at least one was repping his Mahomes Jersey!

Update from my home owners insurance trauma that I brought up yesterday because I know you all care so deeply.
My insurance was going up from 2600 per year to
$3,500.
Buddy of mine recommended an insurance agent. Basically the same coverage they are writing me a policy for $1,788.
You made it seem like your insurance was going up by 3500
Oh, my bad…Sometimes I don’t type good

Would he be able to beat out Cine though?
It appears that just about anyone would be able to beat out Cine.
The only thing Cine can beat is himself…
didn’t need that visual.
Might as well just put 6 safeties on the field
Please make this happen, resign Hunter , Pick up JR our defense just got way better. Still need at least a starting caliber CB but that can be done.
If Hunter just played out his contract, I’d be fine with him.
But he signs a multi year deal, and a year later he is disgruntled.
He cant be disgruntled though, him and his agent are agreeing to the contract lol. He has been underpaid for a long time but again, thats his own fault.
My guess is he is gone on a multi year deal.
I’d be good with a one year deal with the Vikings.
That is really funny!
I took delivery of my Bronco two days ago, traded off my old faithful 2011 F-150. Unbelievable how many more bells and whistles there are on a base 2024 Bronco comparing it to a top of line 2011 F-150 Platinum. The Bronco is definitely at home off road.
Right up there with Kwanzaa.
Are you fucking kidding? The reason Hip Hop is powerful and has appeal is the underground nature it has, that’s the appeal. It’s the same rebel appeal rock has to some people as well. Government sponsored rap is NEVER going to work. This is as stupid as the fucking wall. Money going to shit that won’t work…
Yeah and did you see the Chicago mayor single handedly canceled their contract with the company that has microphones all over the city to alert police to gun shots? You’ll never believe the reason. The microphones are racist.
That’s logical – if potholes are racists so must be microphones.
I agree with everything you say except the wall. I support completing the southern border wall.
BUILD THE WALL! BUILD THE WALL!
Edge said the ‘fucking wall’ not the Southern Border one. Believe he’s talking about the one in Naples where all the young couples go.
Ha!
Oh that makes more sense.
Wait what? I don’t know this reference.
In Naples Italy multi-generational families live in very small apartments. The right age family members get in the car and drive to an area along this road over looking the bay. Every night there’s about a mile long row of streamed up window cars. A little privacy.
damn, that’s crazy… good for those kids lol.
Then you agree with frivolous spending of tax dollars on shit that doesn’t work.
False, walls work as part of a strategy. It is not the only piece to the puzzle but it is a crucial part.
Yeah a part that doesn’t work. Sweet. Roughly half the illegal immigrants came into the country legally and overstayed their welcome… good, let’s spend BILLIONS and BILLIONS on a wall that even if was 100% effective is really only 50% effective but we all know every iteration of the wall is easily defeated by unless you man the wall… so skip the wall and man/patrol the border. I would rather pay ex military the money to man and patrol the wall at a much higher rate than a wall that doesn’t work. Even if the patrolling the wall isn’t any more effective than the wall at least we are employing people and ex-military to help them out. And I think it would be more effective. Not perfect but more effective than a stupid wall.
If walls don’t deter people and keep them out, then how come they are crossing where there isn’t walls instead of going through the walls? I say build the wall, hook 480 up to it and put about 100 yards of landmines along it. Put signs up in as many languages as you want and then if you decide to cross, then that’s your choice.
To get those stats, they count all the people that crossed illegally and then fraudulently claimed asylum as coming into the country legally.
Yeah the numbers I am sure are skewed but we all know there are a LOT of people overstaying their welcome. And to answer your other question is there are absolutely spots there they are going through the wall… do you not listen to any data that goes against your stance? What? But the are going to spots where the wall isn’t duh. But just because people go to a bridge to cross a river doesn’t mean that river’s cannot be crossed without a bridge. They are taking the easiest route but they have proved over and over they would find a way through, over, under, or around. It’s a waste of money.
You can say that about damn near everything the government does.
So you don’t give them an easy spot and it would take some pretty simple and cheap sensors to detect somebody cutting or climbing the wall remotely and then allow law enforcement to respond should they make it past the mines.
So your rebuttal is “shoulds” that probably won’t happen and should that definitely isn’t happening?
Huh? Build the wall, not that hard. Much of the material was already purchased. Assuming CBP would then have sensors on said wall is not a big leap since they use lots of high tech and that would be a relatively low tech addition. Just because somebody may figure out a way through the wall is not a reason to give them a paved path. Disincentivize people from crossing by making it too hard and more likely to fail than be successful and then people just stop trying. Will the cartels quit? Nope, but if you’re not dealing with thousands of other people every day you can focus your efforts on those cartels and drug runners. Funnel people that have nothing to hide to the customs stations where they belong crossing. Along with that, anybody caught crossing the border outside of an official US checkpoint is banned from entering the country for life. If you want to claim asylum, great, go to a checkpoint. Once there, you will stay there, on the Mexican side of the border, until your case is heard. If Mexico doesn’t like it, then maybe they should do something about their southern border.
Seems like since Texas started putting up barbed wire on their own and plugging their own holes on the border wall that much of the illegal immigration has moved to Arizaona and California……but I am sure its just a coincidence.
Nothing to see here. Move along and stop being a racist.
Again, yes, they are going to go where it’s easier but if you put a wall across the whole thing then they will just defeat that as they always have.
There has never been an enforced wall across the whole border, buttressed with drones and motion sensors.
Are you one of them open border fellows?.
What I am hearing here is that in WWII (or a future WWIII), the US could not have stopped or could not stop an invading army from sauntering across the border one platoon at a time until they amassed a couple of divisions. After all they could just book a few cruise ships into Tijuana and then they could always find a way through, over, under, or around.
Well shoot we can sure save a lot of money on defense spending. There is no point in a military.
And even if you stop some of them, your strategy is obviously crap if any get through so better not use that piece. The only piece to use is the single piece that is 100% effective on its own. Since that does not exist, there is no point in trying. Maybe Pelosi had it right and they just need to mow the grass along the border.
That may have been true at one point in time, but it is not anymore
Yeah dude sorry but not way $2 million + MIGRANTS thats what they are they did not go through immigration, came here legally in the past 4 years lol.
Nah, it’s not tax dollars, it’s deficit spending. National debt of 34.2 trillion, current interest on the debt at 3.15%, a few billion to the border wall comes from loans. No problem.
How about the Biden admin selling the supplies that are already purchased and sitting at the border for pennies on the dollar? Great use of funds.
This reads as, “I agree with everything except the one part that my side has indoctrinated me with”…
Reminds me of this classic Gem Bahahhaha
Happy birthday Farley, RIP.
QoD:
I actually prefer the offseason banter on this board to the in season banter.
I love the seasons, do a lot outside during spring and summer. This year I am setting up to plant a three belt shelter belt with drip irrigation, have some 340 tiny little treelets on order that will be delivered some time in May. About the time the Vikings win back to back SB’s the tree belt will be mature.
I love getting out on the river and fishing, farting around.
I like shed hunting in the spring.
I like mountain biking and just recreational biking.
I really enjoy dreaming during the offseason that the Vikings will finally gel into a SB winning organization.
My coworker once spent a season as a tree planter. He said it was terrible work. He was always wet and cold and got paid for each tree he planted. Can’t remember the exact rate. It was like a couple of cents per tree.
Small world, I worked as a tree planter for TSUGA, mainly north of Chetwynd, BC, summer between first and second year of college. Long days and in the summer you had a lot of daylight. That was some tough work, yes you get paid per tree with different rates for unscarified and scarified land. Had some good times with the other planters, saw a few bears that the overseer kept an eye on through the rifle scope. Made pretty good money all things considered, definitely got used to sleeping in a tent in some pretty crappy conditions.
There was a girl in our crew, to date she is still the raunchiest woman I have ever met, would just blurt out the most obscene things like “my vajajay is itching something terrible, I think my bf f’d the skin right off”.
I have learned that I hate planting things. I would not have liked that job.
The weirdest planting experience I ever had was planting strawberries. I had to sit on the back of a strawberry planter and feed the plants by hand into a rotating wheel that grabbed the plant as it turned.
No way that was an OSHA approved set up.
It was a super cold spring day, and I had a lap full of wet strawberry plants. I had to wear rubber gloves, and my hands ached like crazy from the cold.
The weirdest harvest experience was potatoes. That was the opposite. There were tons of weeds in the potatoes, so they welded a seat next to the conveyor belt and I was to try to pull the weeds out of the potatoes before they spilled into the wagon. That day was super hot, and I had to pull huge piles of dry, scratchy weeds across my body all day long while in a dust cloud from the harvester.
Yet, it was all glorious in its own stupid way, as those kind of jobs were.
Haha we are of similar upbringing. I think back on some of the shit I did helping out on the farm – riding on the back of a stuker of square bales, helping direct the bales into the appropriate spot and then releasing a stuke by yanking on a lever that was supposed to be triggered by the 6th bale but never worked, while balanced on the fender and inhaling dust and straw all day long and with the operator of the tractor having no idea if you slipped and went under the stuker – stacking square bales twelve feet high and then riding on the top of the pile while the pickup bounced back to the yard so the pile wouldn’t topple – shoveling oats into an auger feeding into a roller that separated the chaff while inhaling clouds of chaff – chopping ice with an axe and frozen fingers from the water stations. Good times, all with no mask or protective gear. If someone asked me to do that today I’d look at ’em like they were crazy.
QoD: was reading Skolly’s takes on what the Vikings are going to do all off season. Now I just sit all alone with nothing to read.
Skolly’s takes – Pay Kirk $50 mil a year, resign Hunter and Hicks, they’re a legit SB contender now with Flores on D, bring back everyone, KOC is elite!
Where do you read his takes?
zerooooooooo places….
The bathroom walls on the south side of Chicago where all the druggies hang out.
Ha!
Somewhere Kwesi is reading this and madly scribbling down notes…
No real favorite part of the offseason.
I’m filing tax returns for the next 2 months, so I’m not missing anything.
I do like the start of Golf season though.
He’s not wrong, same in WY and SD.
Not sure what this means, sort of funny – reminds me of something you would hear on “yellowstone” series.
Supposedly this was actually said in a Yellowstone County (Billings) courthouse.
I think about sometimes I heard on the news when I was younger that two very old men got in a argument at the clubhouse at a golf course. One struck the other one, from reports not even that hard but he fell and had a heart attack… now the “attacker” got murder or man slaughter or was at least was prosecuted that way. I don’t remember the outcome, but damn.
I reviewed Madame Web.
That’s how slow things are…I actually went to a theater and watched Madame Web…
Thanks for this.
I had already decided I would wait for this to be on a streaming service I already pay for.
Not sure what will get me back to a theater other than Dune 2
Dune 2 could be a good theater experience.
I never watched the first one, but a couple of guys at LMO really liked it.
Do you intentionally watch movies you already know are going to be shitty?
Sometimes, yes.
I had no interest in Madame Web, but some posters at LMO were asking if someone would review it, so I took one for the team.
I go down a rabbit hole every time you post one of these (and sometimes on my own), this is an interesting site.
Watched Father Stu last night for the first time. While I still don’t like all the Hollywood deviations in movies, especially when they make a good person look like a bad person, I thought it was a very good movie and a pretty powerful story. If it makes a few people look into his real life then it is a success.
QofD; Perhaps a strange answer. I’m a bit of a political junkie and the football season is a bit of a relief for me – not that I don’t love football.
Not in to all the mock stuff. Like majors in golf, March Madness and certain baseball games with the right pitchers.
since I’m used to working a lot of hours, and am now retired, I do need to find some things to fill the void. Listening to politics all day will drive you crazy.
I stay completely away from politics.
News is so triggering that I no longer watch the TV news.
‘Listening to politics all day will drive you crazy….’
Can confirm. And it’s hard to avoid. I read my local paper and the online news every morning. I start local and make my way to FOX, CNN, MSNBC and Reuters.
I don’t watch news all day but I make a point to watch ‘Real Time’ every week. As well as ‘Meet the Press’ and ‘Face the Nation’ on Sunday mornings (or late Sunday night during football season) My wife enjoys ‘Last Week Tonight’ and we’ll frequently watch that together.
This has been my routine for almost a decade and even in the limited amount of news I consume I’ve come to one singular conclusion:
Everybody done lost their minds….
that’s a pretty good amount of news. I like the WSJ as their editorials are business driven and will take shots at both sides. Now, I have my biases and MSNBC is really hard for me to watch – I do like their business network though.
Unfortunately, or not, my wife is a bigger political junkie than I am.
Think it’s time to get another dog!
MSNBC is tough to watch – or read even. Pretty slanted. They all are in some way. That’s why I read from multiple sources. Also a WSJ fan. Also a big fan of George Will – I just like his writing.
George Will is a great writer political and otherwise. I’m also a Cub fan (used to losing) and Will wrote a great book on what it’a like to be Cub Fan. He grew up in a small town in central Illinois.
Everybody done lost their minds….
QotD:
I hate the start of the offseason – the month of February in particular is rough. As a Vikings fan I’ve had a disappointing taste in my mouth every February.
By March the mourning is over. I follow March Madness and get into it – I think it’s the single greatest sporting event ever. Also Mock szn ramps up and MLB opening day is right around the corner. And for a few days in March NFL FA takes center stage and allows us a small taste of what next year might look like.
April-June: Baseball is in full swing, the weather is changing for the better, more and more mock drafts until the real one (and likely disappointed in who Minny takes)
July 1st – Training camp begins soon, I start getting notifications from Yahoo/Sleeper to renew FF leagues and Husker fans start taking their first sips of Kool-Aid and around town faintly you’ll hear ‘this could be a big year…’ or ‘we’re a sleeping giant’
August: The season is near. Last minute FA’s sign, devastating camp injuries that change everything, talk of potential holdouts and trades, somebody gets arrested and hype, hype, hype for UDFA and late round rooks that have ‘really impressed coaches’
Throughout all this I’m constantly watching or reading about football. Lots of NFL channel on Pluto (constant game replays and NFL Top Ten shows) lots of YouTube highlights – I’m partial to funkydunkleman. I also tend to play a lot of Madden in the summer when I get to hang with my nephew – one of my favorite things ever, he’s young and loves the game and is a willing student. Using Madden to teach him the ins & outs of the game is so incredibly fun and he’s a fast learner.
Then the season starts and I blink and 5 months are gone, the Vikings aren’t any closer to an owl and sucky February is back again.
Skol
So I kind of get the logic behind this idea of banning cold beer: to stop people from buying it and immediately cracking open a cold one in their car and then driving, but it also punishes people who can actually wait until they get home to drink a beer, though I suppose its not a big deal to wait a couple hours till they are chilled either but there are days, especially in the summer where I get home early, the wife is picking up the kids that day and I have about an hour to myself and I like to crack a beer right when I get home and have a cigar before the evening begins, it would suck if I had to stop to buy warm beer on those days.
In my youth we’d put beer under a cold running faucet to chill it down. Usually cold enough to drink in about 7-10 minutes.
Interesting, I remember someone once telling me you can get a wet cloth or paper towels, wrap beer in that and put it in the freezer for a couple minutes. I’ve never had a reason to try it though.
Nanny state can fuck off. Make your choices and reap the consequences. Also the big breweries will throw enough money at this to shut it down. Worst part is who this really hurts the businesses that off sale alcohol.
WTH – all the problems in the world and they’re worried about the sale of cold beer.
I’ve always been told that to buy a cold beer, let it warm up on the way home, and then cool it back down prior to drinking spoils the beer. So if I pick up beer from the refrigerator at a store I have to put it in a cooler, which officially keeps it out of reach for any temptation such as helping myself to a cold one on the way home.
Probably the greatest reason of all I would never drink and drive is I would have to report that every time I renew my credentials at the 35 hospitals I am credentialed at, plus on my state licenses in MT, ND, and WY. That would be a major PITA.
The only beer that spoils that way is shitty swill beer. And do you really even notice it then? Good, well crafted beer is hearty.
At least today when I googled vikings news it was something other than just more Kirk BS and mocks, I’m getting pretty sick of those articles.
Well then write an article mocking Kirk!
LOL, there’s enough of that daily on here!
Football related, my favorite is the draft, and any crazy things that happen between the start of the League year in March, and the end of the draft.
After that I am football bored until pre season.
Non football related, I love march madness even though I watch zero college basketball. I think that tournament is fun.
The Masters can be fun, but I normally fall asleep while watching golf.
Happy Thorsday everyone.
The only thing more boring than golf… is more golf.
Take a driver, 7 iron, PW and putter out and try to play nine in Par. Might be a lot of things, but won’t be boring.
I grew up taking golf lessons in the summer because my dad LOVES golf. I still golf with him a few times a year. I tried… I always said I’m not old enough to enjoy golf yet but I will admit every year I golf a few times with ol dad… I enjoy it a little more every year. That doesn’t mean golf is actually fun it means I am getting older, slower and more boring!
I got back into golf after a 20 year+ layoff. It is more fun than ever, but I play a lot and took lessons and got fit for clubs that match my swing and size.
It was my wife’s choice(command) to get back into golf. Something we can do together, and we are hoping to continue to golf well into our 70s.
That’s great. Easier to play golf at 70 than football.
Nice! Enjoy!
I Fricking LOVE Golf. I just wish I were a little better at it.
“The ball is just sitting there, Jerry, and I can’t hit it”
Never watched any kind of car thing except demolition derby’s at county fairs.
NASCAR had a show I believe on Hulu last year that was pretty good and they just came out with a new one on Netflix. I haven’t seen the new one yet since we canceled our Netflix like a week before it was released. Those shows are cool because you see more behind the scenes of what it takes and get to see more of what the guys are like as people. Joey Logano is one that I couldn’t stand for a long time but then he started going on NASCAR Radio on XM once a week and I caught myself thinking “man, this guy seems pretty cool” a lot more than thinking he was the douche I used to. That being said, I’m still a Chevy guy.
I stopped watching NASCAR when they went to the race to the chase. Now I see they have segmented the races and divers get points depending on where they are at that point of the race.
Yeah, the stage racing has limited the major lulls in the middle of the race. They have also shortened some of the races from 500 to 400 miles. They did away with the Chase a couple of years ago too. They have a 16 driver playoff now. After 3 races, 4 drivers are eliminated. The tenth race you have 4 guys left and whoever finishes the best wins.
