It’s really weird to not be working. I can’t recall very many periods of my life when I wasn’t employed. I’ve always lived by the motto that you don’t quit a job if you don’t have another job lined up. This situation is different, so I have to disobey that motto. This will take some getting used to. I sure do enjoy spending time with kiddo, though, I’m REALLY glad that I did this.

Re-watched the Bears game from week 18 and saw this factoid flash up on the screen: the Vikings allowed the most first quarter points in the league last year.
That, excuse me, goddamn defense was craptastic at best.
Rather watch this Vikings / Bears game…
Yeah, that defer to the second half kick-off crap was a bad plan poorly executed for us last year. We simply let their offense move the ball down the field and score to put us behind. KOC should have put the offense on the field first, as much as possible.
People are quick to forget last year was KOC rookie debut as a HC. He learned a lot and I see him taking a big step forward in game planning and play calling year 2.
Dumb…go to a team with 3 shit QB’s for a two year poverty deal lol…
Well not like any of these guys were pre med or engineering in college.
And remember all the hype a little back, he was only going to a SB team.
Yeah..exactly what he said, a team challenging for a SB with a stable QB. Everything that Tenn is not. It’s what he was being offered, he took the money plain and simple.
Been avoiding this place so I wouldn’t get a spoiler on the genesis open. Just completed on CBS..Rory didn’t choke for a change birdied 17 & 18 in 30 mph winds for the win AND the 18th is the hardest hole of all 900 holes the pga plays every year it is the hardest of them all. The young Scot, McIntyre who came in second also birdied the 18th, both their playing partners doubled. Pretty remarkable they both his the best second shots from 200 yrds in to a 30 mph wind, McIntyres from the rough with a 5 wood, Rory from the fairway with a 2 iron. Both put it within 10 feet. Damn amazing.
Watched 17 and 18. Rory killed it on 2 tough holes. Wasn’t aware of schedule change. Saw rory won when i woke up. WT…?
Rory is definitely my pick to win the Open this week.
Watched some other holes. He usually hits a draw and he was pushing left. He started using a driver iron, whatever that is. Birdie 17 and 18 for win is amazing. When i was younger and golfed in wind i noticed how it affects the club, not just the ball flight. Wonder what weather is the 20th.
Rory McIlroy lifted the Claret Jug the last time The Open was held at Royal Liverpool in 2014. The course will stage the Championship for the 13th time in 2023. Weather is a wild card to hard to predict.
A driving iron is a 2,3,4 iron with a little more metal, heavier head but lower lofted like those irons usually are, 18-23 degrees. You have to have a higher swing speed to generate the club head speed necessary to get the distance the club can produce. Most golfers don’t.
Meant he was going right. I agree, think he will finish high in Open. Looking forward to that and football.
Yeah he wasn’t release the club as he normally does. I have at least 2-3 of those a round. Try to force the release to much, hard pull.
Government science are political lies.
Shocking I know…..
And they tell us that one must never question “science” because “scientists” and “experts” are always right. 😂
only because Political Science is a thing.
They don’t specify that that is the one they are ‘following’.
@I am shocked, shocked I say!@
A very good friend of mine, who worked as a nurse up in Maryland told me that once the Federal Government started sending money to hospitals based on COVID death’s, the hospital staff were instructed to make sure any death in which the deceased tested positive, would be marked as a COVID death. The Federal Government therefore, incentivized hospitals to do this. Also, she saw the hospitals placing people who tested negative for COVID in waiting rooms with patients who had tested positive.
Sad if true.
“hospitals placing people who tested negative for COVID in waiting rooms with patients who had tested positive.”
Hard to believe that Money Grubbing Corps and Swamp Politicians doing this for money.
BTW COVID still exists. Lots of people get it every day. It’s just treated with over the counter flu meds now. In retrospect, COVID was definitely a danger for the elderly, but for normal people it was/is a severe flu.
There was no reason for the world-wide overblown reaction.
Dif strains. Here forever. Life.
Covid was straining people who were not healthy or had medical issues.
Given that we are a less heathy society it hit us hard like it did in 1918.
Caution at the start was warranted I believe, but Political Science overruled Medical Science soon after.
Tip of the iceberg.
Sniffer at it again!
Jill or his handlers should be saying knock this shit off. FFS.
His addled brain probably thought it was a grandchild.
Or he thought his team had already groomed her to think this was ok.
Kid is petrified. Take note sniffer. Ain’t rocket science.
Damn – like watching the Walking Dead show
Updated title and wife’s family just left. Busy weekend but fun.
Won big money on schefflier finishing top 5
Did not think he would finish top 10 but his iron play was something else.
Only played 9 holes this morning as it was quite hot and humid. Just knew I wasn’t going to be able to finish the back 9. Shot 42 with 3 pars and 6 bogies. Parred the first hole somewhat miraculously. 360 yard dogleg left. It was still pretty dark out and I never saw my 3 wood tee shot. The other guys in the group said in went down the right side pretty straight. I was playing a draw, but straight shouldn’t hurt me. Found the ball on the edge of a pond with a big oak tree about 30 yards in front of me 190 yards out. Had my right foot in the mud, and hit a pitching wedge over the tree back into the fairway. Hit another pitching wedge from 95 yards to about 25 feet past the hole. Then sank the putt for par. My playing partner took triple. I just sort of banged the ball around… didn’t hit anything off the tee very well today. Just played smart, laid up, and used my wedges.
Seems like a good round – especially in this heat.
Saw that picture of your cat yesterday and thought it was a Florida Panther.
Fell asleep JR. Slept hard for about 3 and a half hours. My wife saw my wet clothes in the hamper and asked if I got rained on.
She’s making me lunch now. Pigs in a blanket.
It’s pouring here now, but you would have gotten just as wet this mourning simply standing outside for five minutes.
Indeed. Cloudy here now. They were calling for rain around noon today but so far, nada.
Might hit 131 in Death Valley today. I suggest a few rounds out there then come back. You could handle it better.
Yeah wife and I played 18 yesterday morning was soooo humid then I came home and spent 3 hrs in the sun cutting grass and getting the yard in shape. I was gassed last night but still did some house chores and grilled steaks and made dinner.
Relaxing today, have my last week at the balloon factory next week. Can’t wait till it is behind me and I can get on some projects I want to get done. Shopping power washers I found the one I going to buy its a beast.
You and GF starting a business? Washer looks tough, what you need for?
General stuff around the property. Driveways, sidewalks get dark from all the large trees dropping nuts and crap. Need power washed every couple years. Deck and brick on the lower part of the house from the iron in the dirt that causes it to turn red. Windows outside my wife likes to do every couple months. Plenty of uses.
Full time job. Retire. Let wifey work.
Well went to the new Mission Impossible movie and would recommend it. Great stunts, acting but the plot was a little sophisticated for my pea brain. Thought Rogue Nation was better but this is still worth seeing. Tom’s got some new good eye candy too.
We stopped at a church in a tiny village were my great great grandfather lived. A journalist was interviewing a lady that was writing a book about the church. The journalist interviewed us also. I am going to be famous. You all need to learn Swedish so you can read all about me.
Awesome.
I will get my translator to help….
Did you find any interesting family history?
Hej från Sverige. We have seen a lot of great sights, on occasion had a little too much togetherness, and my niece had her purse pickpocketed. Good times. I didn’t run into Greta yet however.
Sköl!
SKOL! Hope you are having fun on your trip.
Yes we are. Lots of memories.
Sounds awesome, enjoy!
@we have been told there is no crime there so we should give up our freedom@
Keep looking…I sent a message that I have a contact in area to deliver a verbal speech to her in person of my undying love and desire to bed her. No pressure.
Breaking news. 400 lbs of cocaine found at west wing at 6:00 eastern. Secret service at 7:00 concluded no evidence and dismissed case.
Many sniffers in that family…
Gonna be one hell of a party, call up them hookers!
Oh god, another small bag of coke was found at the White House. 😱
Like libs don’t you? Dumbest self serving fucks on the planet with shit for brains.
Coke sniffer and child sniffer. Hey, we got word salad as backup. The shit this admin gets away with boggles the fucking mind.
Unfortunately, libs have been getting away with this shit for decades.
People dying at the perfect time for the Clintons.
Country is so fucked up i can’t believe my eyes. Perfect time to retire and age.
I’m almost there.
Hopefully the government death panels will consult with my family when needed.
OK… that’s funny… I don’t care who you are.
Just dismiss hey Lifer? Funny how this shit is overlooked.
Can’t figure Rory, hits perfect drives for a approach and just chokes.
Sounds like a Viking kicker.
PXG fitting today (For Lifer and anyone else that may be curious).
Fitting was fun. More fun than Golf Galaxy since they are cranking decent music, offered me coffee or water(no beer, unfortunately), and the vibe is more upscale.
I was looking at last years(Gen5) 311XP irons.
I hit a few 7 irons with my current club, and the trackman was dialed in exactly the same as yesterday for distance. Switched to the PXG with a graphite shaft. 1/2″ longer than standard. The new thing was he had me hit 15+ shots with that shaft, then swapped out. I ended up hitting 4 different graphite shafts and the different results were pretty amazing (to me). The dispersion was far and away the best with one particular shaft. RECDART-75F3-R. Then he worked on the club head. Weakened the loft 2 degrees and added 1 to the lie. Hit a bunch more. Almost exactly the same feel as hitting the Taylor Made/Ping/Callaway yesterday. The clubs feel really good. I think I was getting a bit more loft/flight apex with the PXG and Ping.
Price for these is right in line with the Stealth irons.
If I were in the military or a first responder, the extra $40 per club would make this a no brainer and I would have purchased a complete set on the spot.
As it is, I will play the few Rogue irons I purchased and most likely complete the set next month. I would be fine with gear from any of the 4 I hit. All excellent upgrades.
Anyone that does club fittings. Man, there is a lot to this.
If you are getting new irons, go get the fitting to make sure you are not fighting with your gear. The game is hard enough without that.
Happy Saturday!
SKOL
This sounds like a first class fitting. Glad you enjoyed it and seems the fitter really knew his stuff.
For what it’s worth, I have PXG’s and Pings. Both great. but since I hardly ever practice anymore, always play with the Pings
Yeah sounds like a good fitter…had the extra heads with loft changes which is nice. Giving you 2 degrees less loft gives you more distance with a shorter club in your hand is a good thing. No idea what that shaft is never heard of it but F3 is regular flex and the 75 indicates 75 grams so that’s a little heavier than I usually recommend but gives you some weight in your hands to feel the swing which is a good thing.
I think you’ll be happy with the rogues, all the customers I’ve sold them to love them. I think the Pings also fit you well from what you’ve described here. Glad you’re upgrading, I’ll have to make a trip up or you a trip down to NC and we’ll play some rounds.
According to an article I saw, as of today (15 July) the Vikings have just over $18M in cap space (8th best in the NFL). They have some cash if they need it, or feel they have to make a move and bring a player in. Of course they could stand pat for the season and roll that into next year to help offset the dead money they are likely to have on the books going into 2024.
Think they roll the dice with what they have.
Use some for Hunter?
He wants money, garranteed. His health is a issue. I say he’s gone.
Anyone good enough to fill the gap if we trade or release him?
That’s one option. I believe they have to get the OK from Park Ave to do it and it can only be 10% of the cap.
The other is to front load a contract to JJ or Hunter.
Nice start for Rory.
Morning gents…..Played a round at 6:45 this morning. Quit keeping score after shooting a 51 on the front side. Started off 1 over through 4 but the course was packed even that early, foursome in front, foursome behind me and the wife in the middle. Sounds like a bad porn set up. Wife played really well had her longest drive to date, 210 yrds also she had a birdie look on a hole, missed it but made par. We quit with two holes to go, just way to humid the foursome in front of us was slow as death and the foursome behind us had to wait because we had to wait. Blah but fun none the less. We went last night to Mission Impossible dead reckoning part 1 and it was very good. I recommend.
Your wife can outdrive me…
I gave her my Sim Max with a 45 gram Airspeeder regular flex shaft. She absolutely crushes it when she makes solid contact and she doesn’t swing hard. She’s 5’10” 160 in shape lift 3x a week at the gym so once she gets her tempo and contact consistency I have no chance outdriving her when she’s hitting from the ladies tees. Here she is at Kiawah a few weeks ago. Little too much knee bend but I’ve been told to keep my mouth shut and let her figure it out for herself.
How far can she drive?
She had a 210 today with no down hill roll aid just dead straight. Of course she sent some in to the woods and some worm burners from lifting her head. She’s only been playing for about 2 months.
Just don’t get in her way… grin. Seriously, my dad’s second wife loved playing golf with him because he only cared about his game. He could give a shit what she did. After he passed she remarried some years later and her husband wanted to coach her on every shot. It drove her crazy and she quit the game.
Good advice I need to heed. I’m a helper so I want to teach her constantly and it doesn’t help it’s too much info for her to process. I’m pretty convinced she’s a feel player more than a technical player so I need to let her figure it out for herself.
If she is hitting it 210 and finding fairways often, she is correct. 😁
Man, slow golf is unfun. Glad you got out though
Sorry Lifer – slow play just sucks. Nice to hear your wife is becoming a beast off the T.
Seeing Mission Impossible in a couple of hours.
Same refrain for the last several years this season. Can the O-line protect the QB? Can the defense stop… ANYBODY? Can our kicker stop leading the league in missed extra points? Can our RB pick up a 3rd and one?
Really that’s all the season comes down too. Protect the elite QB, pressure the opposing QB, tackle and cover well. We do those four things we have a chance to go deep in the playoffs if we stay healthy. Still a lot to ask.
Yep… I have hope… but not confidence at this point. At least Cousins won’t be investing hundreds of hours trying to learn the offense and calling it. That should mean better results this year.
That part excites me the most about this year. I’m this close to buying his jersey just as a fuck you to all the other nfl fans including our own who’ve criticized him.
Mostly looking forward to a Flores D. It might suck too but i can’t watch what i saw last year. If O-line gets better and KC stays healthy he can hit 4500+. Addison, Chandler i’m curious about.
Curious about Addison too. Reagor cost us three interceptions last year by not doing what he was supposed to do on routes. No idea what Addison will do in KOC’s “adaptive” offense. WR’s have to read the defense while running their routes, and adjust them mid flight. I guess if everything works as advertised the offense should be very hard to stop. But if the QB doesn’t actually know where you’re going post snap (and neither do you) I think it’s risky business.
Reagor’s as dumb as a box of rocks. KOC was about to cut him on the spot when he cost Kirk two ints in that game last yr.
What did Kirk do, he went to Reagor and supported him and told him I still trust you keep working on it and patted him on the shoulder. That is a leader.
Yeah, and he never said anything about it in his presser either. “What happened on that interception Kirk?” “I just missed him…”.
Lots of folks don’t consider Cousins a “great” leader because he doesn’t run around screaming his head off. I think guys who take responsibility for the faults of others and place everything on their shoulders are the guys you want in the huddle though. Just my opinion.
I remember the one by EZ where he quit, KC just put his hands on top of helmet like WT….?
And you know those guys watch the film and see the beating he is taking, keeps on ticking and never throws a teammate under the bus. You know that’s huge in the clubhouse.
Only two things I ask of Flores this season, have some creative blitz packages that can get home to the QB, get them tackling well. We do that with a little decent coverage schemes (we have good safeties on the back end) we’ll be better.
And I’d add start flying to the ball, and when you get to the ballcarrier – hit him and hit him hard. We can lose, but at least let the other team know they’ve been in a game.
Would love better o line ply but believe Kirk has demonstrated he can perform at a high level even with pretty crappy line play.
The D – at minimum hop Flores aggressiveness rubes off on a few of those guys.
The kicker – there’s no friggin excuse for those missed PAT.s
Missed two questions.
Will Kirk have more freedom to go off script when the O Line does not protect him?
Is Kirk able to play at his best when the shit hits the fan?
If we get a yes to those, this will be a fun year.
If not, it is more of the same, with the defense collapsing late season.
I guess my comment on Cousins is he does the best with what he has. He scrambled for a 17 yard TD against the Cardinals last year, so it’s a misnomer to say he can’t do anything off script. Also, Mahomes was able to generate a whopping 9 points in the Super Bowl when his O-line was bad. Every single QB in the league needs a good O-line to succeed.
That is accurate and probably a much more fair assessment that I give him.
There are a handful of QBs that are so good an improvising. I still want to see that more out of the Vikings QB.
Not trying to be argumentative, but may disagree with the “off script” concept. Personally, when Cousins stands in a pretty “dirty” pocket, Holds the ball letting JJ beat double coverage, then delivers an accurate on target throw. To me that’s not on script and not the way they draw up the play. Also, a great many QB’s start chucking and ducking and later start heaving the ball early. I think all these plays he makes are more off script than folks give him credit for, and I think he is one of the best in the league doing this.
Given our line play, I think we are pretty lucky he can do this.
Now when the pocket is absolute crap, he doesn’t do well, but there aren’t to many, if any, that do.
Just a thought.
Nice thing about links golf it doesn’t screw up balance of day.
Goooooood morning skolobrolos!
Happy weekend to all!
To my softball types: Hit the ball, run fast, turn left
To the duffer dudes: Just grip it and rip it
To my fishin’ friends: 2 methods to try…
I’m dominating my yard. Salad for lunch. Yard ball with the mutt. Then off to my Palestinian friend’s place – grilling burgers and dogs and since there’ll be a quorum, we’ll be making scoring and roster decisions for the upcoming fantasy season (where I’m returning back-to-back-to-back champion) that’ll certainly piss off the rest of the league, which is half the fun.
I’ve also been handed another Madden challenge – but this guy is legit.
More to follow, stay right there on the edge of your seats.
Skol!
Just looked at Rickie’s scorecard thus far. Yesterday he hit 4 fairways all day and shot 3 under. Today he’s only hit 2 fairways through 15 holes. He’s 1 under for the round but he’s making it hard on himself.
Rory has the lead at 14 under right now in the Scottish open. Rickie is 7 under, and missed a 3 foot birdie putt. Story of his day I think.
Oh and first!
Rory’s usually a good front runner. Enjoy your round today.
Playing tomorrow morning early. No idea what the course will be like. Looks like water on most holes, so my plan is to just stay out of trouble. I haven’t swung a club since early June, so just gonna hit it solid and play safe.
Always a smart way to play – hit it solid and stay out of trouble.
Pretty hot here. About 96 and heat index at 105. Oh well, it’s Florida.
I live in Trinity Fl near Tarpon Springs and New Port Richey, so we’re having the same temp’s. Gonna spend some time in the pool.
Going to see the new Mission Impossible the afternoon then to the Pit for some pulled pork and ribs – couple of beers too.
Nice. My wife is at the Yoga studio. When she gets back we’ll be out to a nice lunch somewhere and shopping. Might have to think about going to see the Mission Impossible movie.
Live on a course NVF?
I do. I live on the 5th hole of the Fox Hollow golf course. Par 3 over a lake to a pretty much island green. Like to get a cup of coffee and watch the golfers dunk their balls in the lake in the morning.
LOL. I’m jealous.
I’m blessed… and I know it. Very thankful I have survived long enough to enjoy the fruits of my labor, and have a loving and wonderful partner to share it with me.
NOT the cat… grin.
Funny ain’t it. When you dunk one you want to break your club. When someone else does it brings a wry smile.
SO true!!! We get some great (free) entertainment every morning to start our day. Also see how many terrible golf swings there are in the world.
Cat eats better than you.
Laughing… yes, we got him from a kill shelter on his last scheduled day on earth. They had him on the euthanasia list for that day. He was captured on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and he was a mess. He was malnourished, and really no fur on his underside and tail. My wife and he were like meant for each other. She nursed him back to health, and then some. He ended up being 29 lbs. The vet told her it was time to put him on a diet, and she knew the vet was right. It’s hard, but over the last 3 or 4 months he’s lost 2 lbs.
What town on the Eastern shore?
Likely an half hour drive from me.
Somewhere near Chestertown…
A Ravens floor mat?
LOL. Didn’t pick up on that. Are we to trust what NVF says?
Lol!
At least he is using it for the cat…
Yeah, my wife is a Ravens fan (after living 15 minutes from Baltimore for 13 years). The cat loves laying in front of that sliding glass door. It’s his spot, and yes, that’s his blanket.
