Kiddo and I will be on the road early this morning heading out to the wilds of Montana to begin a two-day hiking excursion. We’re hitting Makoshika State Park in Glendive this morning, then we’re heading over to Medora to relax a bit & play some mini golf, then staying there overnight and doing more hiking in Teddy Roosevelt State Park tomorrow morning. Hopefully we’ll have pics of cool scenery to share. Oh, and if you’re a burglar who plans to break into my home while I’m gone, don’t. My wife is home, has access to all my firearms (the ones I don’t have with me), and she knows how to use them. Best to just stay away.

Over at Vikings.com, Justin Jefferson was rated as the top player under 25 years old by the Athletic, Josh Metellus is turning heads again this year, and they introduce the Tennesota Vikings, whatever that is. I really liked Metellus last year, and I’m not shocked that he’s lighting it up in camp again this year (settle down, Mjolnir, it’s not THAT kind of lighting it up).
The Vikings worked out RB Mike Davis, according to SI.com. Wow, that’s cool, I graduated with Mike Davis. Nice to see he’s kept himself in shape. Funny, I remember him being caucasian, but 1992 was a long time ago.
CBS Sports has a 2023 preseason injury tracker. Also, they list one thing they learned about each team in the season opener.
The Colts have named QB Richardson as the starter for 2023, according to NFL.com. Might be a bit premature to name a rookie as the starter for the entire year, he might suck. Remember Johnny Manziel? Remember Jamarcus Russel? Remember………..

My round 48 then 43. Has a blow up hole early but stay composed. Left so many putts short which I never do and rattled me a bit through 9 and a few early on back 9
The game really is about putting…I’ve got the rest pretty much where I want to be decent but my issue is leaving 10 shots minimally on the putting green. That video below is so informative and rings true. Get a solid routine. Stick to it. Don’t hover over putts, set up, get the putter face aligned to the target, look at the hole and target. Look back to the putter and let it go. First instincts are the best on putts. Look too long things go wrong.
I put new carpet in the Riviera on Saturday and I’m still sore on Wednesday. I must be getting old.

OK so I have a real world conundrum. What would you choose?
Got a call from my “handler”. She and I have a great working relationship. The “western” and “Wyoming” rads petitioned physician comp committee for some concessions related to our regional work for our employer. To wit: “we have no control over how much work regional sites do so should not be penalized if there is not enough work”. Physician comp offered them a one year deal: Guaranteed comp at the 90th%-ile for one year, with possibility of reconcile above that level based on production. No clawback ie money is guaranteed if they produce less they don’t have to pay it back. In one year’s time best as we can tell the contract will revert to one similar to mine. I myself set my base comp at the 75th%-ile and have quarterly reconciliation. If you look at a graph of my production vs the standard Sullivan Cotter production lines for the average rad I am always bouncing above the 90% line sometimes taking the top spot (this is an averaging of about 8500 rads). Physician comp offered me the choice:
Basically all things staying the same my gross biweekly pay would be higher but my quarterly reconcile would drop. My total comp in both scenarios would be the same unless the amount of work I do drops, in which case a guarantee is a guarantee.

You’re not missing anything, I don’t think there is a right or wrong answer. When I told my wife, she immediately went with your response. I don’t want to reveal my answer but it would be hard to say more without doing so. But if I produce 100 widgets and make $10 per widget I make 1000 bucks. I choose to make a base salary annualized at $750. The organization is offering me $900 even if the widget market tanks.

Please….no business playing for money ha! The difference in a 90 shooter and a low 80’s player is not as much as you think. I play with guys that shoot high 70’s low 80’s and hang right with them as they hit balls in to the woods and miss putts just like the rest of us.
I’ve played $100 rounds max bets. You talk a big game I hear a lot of embellishment which sounds like bullshit to me. Heard many a guy talk like that and get them on the course they’re no better than I am. Tend to take liberties, move a ball here, take a drop there, gimme putts, hit bad shots make excuses, oh look I shot 83! Sounds like you. I’m honest about my game that is clear here.

oh yeah…I did just that with the spider and it is fantastic…have been going to the range weekly, playing a couple times a week and putting is better, not where it was but way better. My point above was figuring out why were there those days of just uber confidence and making 3 or 4 long putts in a round and draining everything inside 10 feet. Well listening to the above tutorial spelled it out plain as day. Looking back those were the exact reasons I putted well. I’ve since gotten to technical and have way too many thoughts going through my head. I plan to get back to exactly what Dr. Bob is teaching above.
Believe he also has other videos that involve all scoring shots and overall full swing thoughts that you may like.

Jersey Mike’s is great…. If you like your sub doused by a fire hose… When it comes to subs, I make it a point to find mom & pop joints. There’s was a place in Lincoln called Danny’s Downtown Deli that was amazing. If you gotta go chain sub, go Jimmy John’s.

Weird, today I watched one of the cows kinda rear up on her back legs (not like standing on them but a little elevation boost) and pull down a branch off a cottonwood, sat there munching leaves and eyeballing me.
Very sad……the one video I watched, there were birds dive-bombing a young buck as he fed on grass, and I was thinking those birds deserved what they’re gonna get……..as I looked closer, turns out he wasn’t eating grass, he was slowly advancing on a baby bird that had fallen out of the nest and couldn’t get away and the parents were trying to protect it.

Chatty group today…I have been telepathically receiving requests for updates on last night’s big pickleball match. The wife and I lost 4 games to 0 to the son and girlfriend. But it was a lot of fun, I will for sure play much more pickleball, even the cranky hip held up just fine.
You can use that as motivation to get better. That is what I do with all the senior citizens who pass me in 5Ks. I think to myself…you just wait, old man, next year, I’m going to run you down and then take your wife out for Metamucil cocktails…

Not ease of use. Web site performance in general. It gets over loaded if you try to post or edit a comment more than once in a few seconds. Functionality for sure, unable to view other users and your own comment history and search by date. A lot could be improved.

Cine may or may not pan out but all the “bust” talk right now is laughably premature. For a safety, two main factors for success are getting yourself into position to make the play and then, of course, make the play (i.e. tackle).
If you go back and watch the first preseason game, Cine flashes on a lot of plays on the former but, yes, he needs to work on the latter. That said, of the two, making the play is a hell of a lot easier to fix. He’s used to blowing guys up in college. In the NFL, he needs to lower his pads and wrap his guy up. I think he’ll figure this out.

Not if you’re a first round pick. A round most safety’s NEVER go in. If they do, they should be day one starter impact players, and he’s not. Had he been taken later in the draft, I would hold off on bust. But for where he was drafted he’s 100% a bust. No more excuses. You have a lot of patience for mediocrity, that is becoming apparent.

For sure bad tackling technique. But late reaction put him in a position to chase never allowing him to get his feet under him for a solid tackle.
He reacted as soon as he could be certain it was a run play. It wasn’t a late reaction…he meets the running back about 6 yards past the line of scrimmage from roughly 15 yards deep when he breaks on the play.
Don’t think so. Stop tape at 3 seconds – ball is handed off. At that point he needs to break. And if he did so, he would get there sooner, allowing him to get in a better position for tackle.
No doubt he breaks quickly when he does move which is good. But you can’t move so quickly that you can’t keep your feet under you.
Now, I’m not saying I’m giving up on him. But this was not a good play.

Seems the normal path to making it in the NFL from a defensive standpoint is learning that tackling and hitting someone are two very different things. May be that the normal ball carrier from what he is used to in college and in practice would go down with that HIT?
Could be. And when the NFL ball carrier destroys him up high like that… maybe he’ll reconsider his tackling.

Long day today. I have a big project at work, then after I get home I have to zip up to church to teach Bible study. The pastor is out of town for a wedding and whoever was supposed to speak couldn’t. He gave me just a week and a couple of days to come up with a lesson. Plus on top of all that, I picked up a bug on my various vacation treks, so I’ve been dragging some since last week.

my go to if someone throws the old “hey do you mind teaching in 2 days” is taking a Charles Spurgeon message or morning and evening devotional and expounding on it.
Typically they are fairly short. I’m usually the one who yaps the longest. It starts at 7 and I’m usually done by 7:45 or 7:50.
