Question of the Day
Worst case scenario, Jr. Penis at 11 or Nix at 23?
Media Selection
My favorite vocalist with at raspy/gravely voice is Mike Ness of Social Distortion, who are also the best Cowpunk band in history. They have several songs that are fitting to Vikings and their fans, I can’t decide between “born to lose” and “bad luck”, you tell me which fits best for our fan base.
Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something feel free to ask. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here. Just be civil and cool to one another.

Not bad.
Looks like she has a tape job that can be seen when she throws the covers back.
I wouldn’t kick her out of bed for wearing tape (she would kick me out for being old and poor tho)
Just thinking she may not be in the mood anymore once you rip that tape off of her nipples.
Of course if she liked that then the whole ‘Hot/Crazy’ graph comes into effect.
You are a good man. Thank you.
Apparently, the NFL draft is being sponsored by Bud Light.
Where they get money? Government?
Bud Light and Anheuser-Busch are owned by a huge international corp.
They have been throwing money at the problem since it started.
Only reason Trans Beer is still around.
If you go in to liquor store they have cases piled a mile high.
Even out here their ‘stock’ is normally pretty full.
Don’t know that I have seen anyone carrying or drinking any since it all started.
InBev is too big to fail. They have scores of other beers in their family.
Not to mention a majority of the people that boycotted BL switched to a beer also owned by InBev because they’re not well educated about it
I went to Grainbelt Elite…Not owned by InBev….Miller Lite is also a good alternative.
Miller is owned by… InBev
I predicted that Bud Light would go away, and a “new beer” would come onto the scene.
I guess that hasn’t happened, but I’m sure they are playing wack a mole with consumers.
InBev might be but don’t know if TransBeer is.
If there is one thing you should know about NFL, they prioritize profits over everything else, I’m guessing BL is paying handsomely as they continue attempting to recover from the massive sales and market cap drop.
Well still haven’t drunk a Bud product since the commercial and now won’t watch the draft.
I haven’t had a Bud product either, or bought Nike since the Kaepernick Krap….Yes, I am very good at holding a grudge when it comes to Wokeness.
Agreed, have not been to a Target either.
Many other Woke Corps to avoid, AARP, Chase, the list goes on and on.
OMG, I love Tarjay. I so wish we had one. haha fat chance.
I’m serious btw. For me going to Target is like you city slickers going to Neiman Marcus.
Never been to a ‘Neiman Marcus’.
My ‘high end’ capped at Macys and that was usually only for ‘wedding presents’ and the like.
I or my wife go to target quite often, growing up I was like you and not that close to any. They did have one at the Rapid City mall, it was cool because it had like its own little food court inside. Never seen one anywhere else like that.
The Teacher occasionally uses their website but we have not been in a store.
Her Female Logic drives her to make different Shopping Decisions than the ones I make.
Yeah, by “going to target quite often” I mean my wife orders it and I go pick it up.
Strangely enough we have never done the order on-line and pick up thing.
And with the move to ‘God’s Country’ we probably never will.
I have a personal grudge against the shoppers who are too busy to actually do their own shopping in the store.
Out here you have families that bunch up in the aisle clogging it.
And the little ones are usually distracted and standing in the way of us old folks trying to get by.
Not sure where you live, but here in Florida everyone orders from ?amazon and gets it delivered to door.
One of The Teachers many nicknames is The Amazon Queen.
Seldom does a week go by that they don’t stop by multiple times to pay homage to her by dropping off gifts.
Oh we get out share. and then there’s Price club.
Love Amazon drivers, They’ll put 15 stops on the dash and leave van running to make a delivery.
Our UPS driver actually runs to and from his truck and front doors.
He even made a trip back to his truck for a plastic bag for our package when it was raining.
Whatever they pay that guy it is not enough.
They are paid well, mostly from being over dispatched. Cold, heat and rain add to it.
UPS guy was visiting with me (my younger choco chased him into his truck very very bad dog got a butt smack for that and had to make nice with the driver)…said the worst delivery he had was delivering an Amazon gift card down a 27 mile intermittent mud and scant gravel road west of Baker. And if you know this country you realize it is no exaggeration that you won’t see another car or even house on that entire 27 mile drive; guy could break down (no cell service) and be mummified before they find you.
Those extended areas are tough. I delivered in Eden Prairie. Down side is more stops.
I live in the Twin Cities, mostly she orders groceries and other household products, does the same with Aldi, not sure Amazon delivers perishable goods like steak or veggies.
Oh for meats, veggies and fruit my wife is very particular and will only hand pick them.
No kidding, like I am going to let some 17 year old pimply faced kid pick my produce. No thank you.
Know people that do it.
And when I say my wife must pick, she is very, very particular and that means the most expensive almost every time.
I get The Teacher off brand creamer for her coffee that she admits tastes the same, but when shops she gets the name brand which is $1-1.50 more per.
When I asker why she just says ‘well that is my usual brand’.
Female Logic.
Once you start paying $9 for a jar of Miracle Whip one comes to appreciate the cost savings of target.
Yeah, especially with some of their circle discounts, like Soda at times I can get for under $4 a 12 pack when its usually upwards of $6.99.
When we lived in Roch a super Target was on the other side of the highway from us, all of a one minute bike ride. Sigh I miss the convenience but not the people.
We get most of our usual groceries from the Base.
The rest come from Costco/Sams Club. We do like Fred Myers in Idaho though.
F Target. Seems like we live in a world where you if you don’t promote LGBTQ merchandise you are behind the times. Glad i’m getting older.
Who wants to see LGBTQ merchandise – really?
Just wonder what the youth of America thinks now. You know, it’s ok to grow up a male, find a wife and maybe have a couple kids.
I can’t afford Nike products so that helps me boycott them.
I’ve always preferred other brands to Nike, Asics probably being my fave but I also like converse
In all seriousness, in order of what I wear (based on my work apparel), I’m at Crocs>Wolverine work boot>Merrell hiker>Tevas>Muck boots>Corcoran jump boots.
We all had Corcorans back in my Army Days.
Found then unwearable working in the prison.
I blame the constant walking on steel and concrete, not even really good insoles helped long term.
I love Corcorans for bird hunting. I’ll put a dozen miles on them and my feet feel great.
8-16 hours of walking the tier seemed to much for my feet in Corcorans.
Even in the Army we wore them more for the shine than the comfort.
I get the concrete floor thing. My feet were dying on my three month interventional radiology rotation, long hours of standing while wearing lead followed by running down long hospital hallways in either cheap running shoes or dress shoes took their toll. One of the techs took pity on me and put down a rubber mat to stand on, which was heaven until the attending berated me for weakness and made them take it away. I ended up wearing cowboy boots which they made fun of but at least I wasn’t in constant pain.
We had to visit each cell every 30m which meant you had to start walking every 15m.
The tiers (stairs and upper floors) were metal so half the trip was on metal half on concrete.
No Oofos?
Never really thought much of Nike products – golf clubs and running shoes are both sub standard. So I boycott them without even trying.
I haven’t had a bud product since I found out they make beer that tastes good
You like Yuegling?
Yuengling I mesn
Yes, I finally got to try one here a while back, it was tasty.
NOYST
What did i miss today?
Twins suck. Team batting average under .200
Unwatchable.
Rocco did say that ‘they have to do better’ so that should fix it.
Hated Baldy since day1.
Need better pitching then – more shutouts.
Forgot, pitching sucks.
The usual, Chief.
No idea about Baseball, but that is known.
My super toilet has ruined pooping at work. I now hate having to use TP.
No one is forcing you to use TP.
I don’t understand, after a bidet how do you get yourself dry?
How Do You Dry After Using A Bidet? (5 Easy Method) (bidet101.com)
My super toilet has a warm air dryer that pops out to do the job.
Can anybody identify or relate to Joe and his uncle who was eaten by cannibals in WWII?
I guess if someone eats the last slice of pizza at my house, I get a little irritated.
To bad the Military says that the plane was lost at sea and one guy even survived and made it back.
But then Joe would never let the facts get in the way of one of his stories. ‘I graduated at the top of my class’ aka 76th of 85.
I think the “fact” checkers are only used on repubs or anti vaxers.
Therefore, Bidens facts are facts.
That was fixed a little bit once Musk took over Twitter/X.
What a great story. I have a few patients on the memory ward that have similar humdingers. Wasn’t his uncle piloting the Enola Gay or something?
My 90 year old mom has a few humdingers lately as well. Not quite as impressive as sniffer though.
I also think Biden’s uncle was with the Wright brothers to make all of this flying possible to begin with. He has a long rich history to share with the nation.
‘Enola Gay’
Why you have to kink shame Enola like that??
His memory of real life is so bad he’d get crushed in a debate. Why handlers won’t allow. In the mean time he just buys votes.
Hey MT, didn’t know if you commented on this when the earth shattering news broke that the Golden Bachelor and his lust partner are divorcing.
Thats right we never got a response from any ‘interested parties’.
Are you frickin’ serious?
Man, after all the rave reviews about it I even watched a portion of a couple of episodes. Back to my boycott of the Bachelor series.
Divorce after 100 days! Jeez, it seems like when my wife is pissed with me she can give me the silent treatment for 100 days (or at least it seems like it). What a pair of weenies.
So are you implying that you had not heard the news?
I would have thought that you had signed up for ‘alerts’ on your phone.
Yeah man.
I can’t believe after all of his love and admiration for the show, that he wouldn’t even follow up on the real life aspect of all these nonsense dating shows.
Sheesh.
Haha…no. After Chris Harrison got DEI’d and cancelled I quit the show.
I do like “Farmer Wants a Wife”. More conservative lean.
But they lasted all of 3 months between marriage and divorce announcement..
How long did the series last again?
LOL….
Probably 6 months.
Two TV ratings periods.
So the marriage last 1/2 as long as the series that led to the marriage?
Stupid effing show. The tears, OMG…
Likely…
I guess I was wro…incorrect.
It aired for two months.
Not sure how long the actual filming was from start to finish.
Grandson and daughter-in-law will be in Wisc on the 28thish via medivac (hopefully). Son’s leave doesn’t start until the 3rd and he will then be driving from Seattle to Wisc so they will have a car here during this time. Grandson checks in the hospital on the 6th and bone marrow procedure on the 16th. That’s the plan anyway. His immune system is still struggling to recover. My wife took the granddaughter to the dentist today and she needs about $6k of work done. Grandkids are expensive.
Holy cow, what in the world costs 6 large at the dentist?
She has been needing dental work for awhile. Still, I agree with your sentiment.
how old is she?
6
crazy she needs that much work done, unless there are issues with her palate?
“Need a new trolling motor on my boat”*
*some dentist in Wisconsin
Exactly.
I’m not sure. My wife just briefly talked to me about it after the appt. She was not happy with the number.
thankfully, if it’s teeth related, THEY WILL ALL FALL OUT EVENTUALLY before she is a teen
Apparently she has 2 permanent molars that they want to seal before they go bad also.
also, teeth can genetically be bad. my coworker gets cavities ALL the time and he takes really good care of his teeth and never eats sugar, which is annoying
Sounds like gouging.
And we are going to start using a timer. We send her to brush her teeth and she is back in like 5 seconds.
One of the funniest things that happened with my oldest granddaughter who always fought brushing her teeth was going to the dentist…when she came out the receptionist who was one of those vivacious types said clean bill of health, J? – no I have three cavities. Full dentist waiting room.
The receptionist loudly exclaimed OH MY GOODNESS NO IT CAN’T BE!
J was so mortified she immediately became a dedicated brusher and flosser.
yep, we had to implement a timer for my kids. same thing was happening.
also, might have to just spend the 2 minutes doing it for her for a little bit.
At my house we brush our teeth together so we all brush for an appropriate amount of time
My 5 y/o does a pretty god job, we check her teeth for “sugar bugs” when she is done.
Hope things go well with the grandson.
Teeth are spendy. Easy to drop $2000 on one.
My coworker has $13000 worth of work that needs to be done. It’s crazy.
It is crazy. The dental place is going to see if they can get Tri-Care to pay for it. That sounds like it may be a crap shoot.
WOW! That’s crazy. Safe travels to everyone and hope everyone gets all the help they need!
Hoping for the best for you and family. God Bless!
perhaps i’m wrong, but i have heard bone marrow procedures can be quite painful. is this the case for what he will be doing?
praying for the little man
I’ve heard the same. The little dude has gone through a lot lately. Of course, the hardest I heard him cry was when mom took his tablet away from him. 3 year olds have a different perspective.
Don’t see how muscling an 8 gauge Jamshidi needle into the iliac crest would be painful.
These days (doubly likely at a pediatric hospital), the patient is typically nicely sedated and they often use a drill to enter the bone, making it quicker and less traumatic.
the first part was pure gibberish to me..
the second part makes more sense though
ooof, looks very painful.
what do you think, Mark Cuban?
Nah, I just treat them to a MT style anecdote while placing the Jamshidi and they fall right to sleep.
Prayers for you and the grandkids.
You are a good man/father/grandfather.
So I was just wondering what the plan is/was.
Grandson is now being treated in Wisconsin for good or just getting a treatment while visiting you?
Hope it goes as smoothly as possible for all of you.
He will be getting the bone marrow transplant in Madison. He will be there for probably at least 4 months.
Yikes.
Hopefully you can find a little time for fun with him.
I can’t imagine all the stress you all are going through.
Thinking of you VP
Praying for the little guy and your family….what a tough road.
well… that sucks, hopefully it goes as intended
Hope everything will go well for your grandson and the family, thinking of you guys.
Massive ouch on the dentist estimate.
The young Penis mock
More impressed with the trades that got you 5 top 60 draft picks.
Met Hilary Swank at one of Freezy’s Lakehouse Parties last night. What an absolute delight! I can’t imagine a single person disliking her. She is basically puppies in human form. 10/10
I think she had some pretty nice ‘puppies’.
I actually thought she was Cindy Crawford at first. When I told her that, she laughed and laughed. Really, the only minor issue that developed was when she found out I was married and then threatened to murder all those I hold dear because she couldn’t have me. But that is not unheard of for me, so…
Glad to see you living such a rich fantasy life.
I take every word on here as gospel.
you do realize everytime he talks about his rich lavish life, it’s having just been hanging around me
LOL! Well played.
Burn the witch!
Hilary forgives you for this…
Which one are you in the picture?
I am on the left. It is hard to tell, admittedly, because I am currently off-cycle. Won’t get my pump back until when I start training again next month.
Born in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Then won an Oscar for playing a transgender person who was also from Lincoln, Nebraska.
I think the current term of skank was derived from swank.
Is she hot?
yessssssssssssssssssssss
i was trying to find gifs but thank you for adding this
I too first tried to find the gif lol.
RIP

Hercules Mata’afa is retiring from football at 28.
He was an intriguing prospect, unfortunately he didn’t work out. At least we didn’t use a draft pick on him.
https://thevikingage.com/posts/former-minnesota-vikings-hercules-mataafa-retires
Yeah, 250 lb DTs don’t typically make it in today’s NFL
Unless they’re John Randle…
NFL was much different back then, Randle did put on weight over his years, I he was eventually up to 280.
I know. Just wanted to pay respects to my all time favorite player…..
I wonder if he would’ve played much IDL in today’s game. Lightning quick first step, non-stop motor and country strong but undersized.
I think if he beefed up like he did in his early years he could still be an every down player in the league as a DT, I think at a minimum if he was still around 250 he could be an interior pass rusher on passing downs
He would have thrived today too, just probably as a DE, or maybe even a 3 tech. Look at the guys he played against… wasn’t like they weren’t way bigger than him back then too.
The discussion of the KDS and the conversations it starts reminded me of a situation in prison.
Two inmates, one white and one black, were arguing and using the most foul racist language at each other from different cells.
Finally I went to the black inmates cell and asked if he was ok, if he wanted to move to a different section and to reassure him that just because we couldn’t stop it from a guy locked in his own cell didn’t mean that we agreed with it.
The Black Inmate just smiled and said ‘No problem it helps to pass the time’. Not the response I expected.
Good Morning All.
I see you guys are on top of your snarky comment game, congrats.
I even made the Summery 2 times, yeah me.
Had excellent meeting with Movers and Realtor yesterday.
The Daily KC discussion is way at the bottom of the tread where it can be ignored easily.
It’s shaping up to be an excellent day. I better be ready to ‘duck and cover’ due to reality.
Yeah, KDS is a thing both ways, I honestly don’t know why people can’t just move on
I only get involved when someone attacks a poster and his right to his opinion.
Everyone is entitled to their option no matter how stupid it is.
Like it states in the Guidelines up top “Attack the argument not the poster.”
Agreed, I just don’t understand why people want to have the same discussion everyday for 6 years only to continue even after he’s gone
KC is living rent free in some peoples heads and KDS causes people to demand to be right.
I think both sides have some valid points but neither are going to convince the other side.
Now it is a trigger to some, any post that can be taken as an attack or defense has to be replied to, and then it’s ‘off we go’.
And personally if they want to go down that rabbit hole together they are welcome to it.
I won’t be joining them, I don’t see the reason to attack the poster.
Agreed. The second he signed with Atlanta I stopped caring about Kirk Cousins. And I liked Kirk and wanted him to succeed here. He didn’t. For a myriad of reasons.
Aside from when they play NFC North foes or FT*, I won’t be rooting for Cousins in Atlanta. Because I’m not a Falcons fan. I have a close friend who is and like all good friends, I have a desire to see him wallow in fandom misery.
NFC South is pretty weak imo and I suspect ATL with KC will be just like Minnesota with KC: Good enough for a wildcard spot and an early exit from the playoffs.
Time to move on.
‘I’m not a Falcons fan. I have a close friend who is and like all good friends, I have a desire to see him wallow in fandom misery.’
Truth.
I must be a terrible fan and after reading posts from yesterday, was going to ask where to go get the playbook for “How to be a Proper Fan.’
No, I’ve been rooting for teams from all sports for about 65 years and I must be doing it wrong.
As a kid, and even today, a huge Cub fan. Yet on my wall had a big picture of Billy Willams (Cub), surrounded by Sandy Koufax and Mickey Mantle -I was a pitcher and center fielder in Little League. Seems I developed an ability to root for a team and others too.
Even last year, would go to Panthers site too see how AT was doing – rooting for him. Used to check on Cook with the Jets. Been rooting for these guys so I still wanted them to do well. Didn’t affect us.
And what I’ve done with the NBA and college sports is even more crazy. I once rooted for Celtics and Lakers at the same time so Magic and Bird would be in finals against each other.
Well, guess I’ve got a lot to learn.
You can be a fan of teams and players.
Heck Teddy brought us Kathy which I consider a good thing.
I was being a bit tongue in check. The mere statement or suggestion that one fan is better or worse than another is pure HS and is used to demean another poster because you disagree with their comments. You know you must be a ‘bad American if you don’t agree with. this or that.’
I think chanting ‘Death to American’ makes you a Bad American’ but disagreeing on policy doesn’t.
I would agree….chanting “Death to America” would make you a bad American…..
Where is Edge to tell me Republicans and conservatives do that too??
Please don’t get Edge into a Political Discussion as he usually goes Full Lifer.
I find that much more difficult to ignore than the KC debates. Although I am getting better at it.
Death to America is just crap to me. If they want us to ‘die’, leave now.
You sure it wasn’t a bunch of Avon Ladies with speech impediments and they were shouting ‘Death to Mary Kay’’ ?
I’m sure.
Nice visual though, could be a SNL skit.
It would.
I knew it was a real thing. Bill Maher condemned it on his show last Friday. As he should. Pretty gross.
I don’t think there’s a playbook on how to be a proper fan. Think it depends on the person.
You’re absolutely allowed to ‘fan’ any way you like. Whether it’s hardcore rooting for one and only one team, or admiring a bunch of players, teams, organizations. You do you.
There’s obviously players from all sports outside my favorite teams that I like or root for and certainly ones that I hate. I grew up a Twins fan – loved Kirby Puckett – but my favorite baseball player of all time is Ken Griffey Jr.
In the NBA I rooted for the Bulls – because of Michael Jordan. And I hated all of Chicago’s rivals at that time – Cleveland, Detroit, New York. Hated them. But I still admired Joe Dumars and John Starks. Weird. Complicated. But true.
I’m a diehard Nebraska football fan (emphasis on death lately) Absolutely love the Huskers and many, many people down here follow former Huskers to the NFL and immediately become fans of those teams, buying jerseys and stickers and license plate covers.
I’m not this way. Unless a former Husker also ends up a Viking (Like Broderick ‘The Sandman’ Thomas) they are dead to me. There has been only 2 exceptions to this: Brook Berringer (RIP) and Mike Brown (robbed by injury or we’d be talking about him in the same category as Ed Reed and Ronnie Lott)
Every game is different and I always find someone or something to root for. Or against.
I still remember Dan Reeves and Jamal Anderson doing the ‘dirty bird’ in the dome and it stings.
So no. I won’t be rooting for ATL or Cousins (with the exception of them playing FT* or NFC North Foes. Or Denver)
Guess players/teams get intertwined to me – the team is the players and the players are the team. So I find it easy to root for players that leave, provided it doesn’t hurt us, want them to do well and still want us to win every game.
“You do you”
So much this. I tell my kids and Nieces/Nephews that it is their live they get to choose how to live it. I am here for advice (if asked) and help (if it is required) but am not going to tell them how to live their lives, tell them who to root for.
I believe that your way of fandom is probably fairly standard no matter what some say.
Thanks. I’m guessing I have a little more experience at being a fan than many.
Generally I am a fan of a team and don’t follow players once they leave.
I was heartbroken as a teen when Allen Page went to Da Bears late in his career but re-embraced him once he retired. He remains my favorite Viking of all time.
Correct on all fronts.
The bigger picture, everywhere he goes, he keeps the team competitive by being in the playoff hunt. That’s it.
I wouldn’t expect it to change. We have 10 years of history.
Time for the Vikings to make new history.
Let’s effinngg GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DRAFT a QB Kwesi !
The stars might align for the Falcons next season, who knows. We’ll find out, I guess.
That’s been said about him for 6 years now.
Glad some other team is in on him.
Amen. I did the same thing when they traded Gretzky.
What’s KDS? Kirk Deficiency Syndrome?
Kirk Doinking Syndrome.
Similar to Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Maybe don’t post the KC picture a top.
I did that for Freezey
Just thinking – if you want to forget your EX, don’t look at her picture everyday.
i’m wondering where my trophy is for making the summary the most.
goodness i’m cool and have the wittiest things to say
I am easily amused.
cuz I know you are a dingo guy…I’m renting a Toro trencher on Monday to trench a straight 150 foot trench for 2″ black poly water line and trench a straight 100 foot trench to drop a drainage culvert style corrugated plastic pipe into to carry water from the shouse downspout.
My wife this morning sez you should also hook up both the downspouts on the south side of the shop to the shouse downspout so all that water gets carried over the hill. I’m trying to explain the difficulty of creating and placing hard plastic pipe in a curved trench, how I’m going to somehow mate the three drainage pipes together in a downhill slope, how the gravel drive would be torn up to smithereens, etc plus I only rented the trencher (which is like a dingo) for a half day…”if you don’t want to do it just say so but it will be a muddy mess out there next time it rains”. Women and their ways of implying that any task a man does is pure simplicity and the only reason they don’t want to do it is pure laziness.
Female Logic is often frustrating, amusing and occasionally helpful.
Sometimes I get fed up with that and say something intelligent like “If you think its so easy why don’t you take care of it?”
This hardly ever ends well.
‘This hardly ever ends well’
Agreed, a difficult lesson learned.
i am a dingo guy and i am thinking of renting one again this summer for some projects along side my garage…
although i wish i had the property and projects you had.
Whatevs mista lakeside acreage and private dock.
I stay away from dingos
Not sure if this is a credible source, would seem a fairly mundane player to post fake newss about, but you heard it here first
https://x.com/CtespnN/status/1780956671571059050
It’s on the internet, it has to be true.
IDK…
Well, maybe the independent fact checkers have not had a chance to properly vet it yet.
They are too busy trying to track down that last one from Biden about is uncle being eaten by cannibals.
Nothing on his Twitter account about it.
The N in ESPN already stands for Network. Lol
Think it would be a good thing therefore it probably isn’t.
Quality depth is a positive IMHO.
Best case scenario you trade both first round picks for a Mr. Kirk Cousins to keep shit interesting around here… Triggered reactions in….
Why would the Vikings trade two first round picks when they could have just re-signed him?
Because I’m being totally serious here that’s why!
Gooooose Morning Purple Pushers!
QotD:
I’m inclined to take BPA @ 1.11 (with an eye on IDL) and QBOTF @ 1.23. (Nix/Penix)
However….
I think an early run on QB’s could force Minny’s hand to take QBOTF at 1.11 – if they don’t trade up themselves.
Hearing talk of the Giants, Broncos and Raiders all looking to move up to draft a QB. Rams have been mocked a few times by the NFL.com pundits to also be in the market for Stafford’s replacement.
If picks 1-3 all go QB, and McCarthy also goes top 10, what are the chances that either Penix or Nix are there at 1.23 with those aforementioned teams all in the need for a QB? I think it could be pretty low and Minny might have to snag whoever they prefer between Penix/Nix at 1.11 and address another need at 1.23.
Nix was underwhelming at Auburn, played well at Oregon, has lots of starting experience (most starts by a college QB?), good mobility and accuracy and decent arm strength.
Penix was also underwhelming at Indiana, played very well at Washington. Cannon arm strength and great athleticism/mobility but allegedly no intermediate game (so much so that Michigan schemed to take away the deep ball in the National Championship as they believed he couldn’t throw intermediate and underneath routes)
Penix also has a terrible knee injury history that scares the hell out of me.
So I think the best move for Minny (if they don’t trade up) is to grab QBOTF @ 1.11 and address Defense @ 1.23 (IDL? DeJean?) My preference at 1.23 would be DeJean. I’ve been pounding the table for IDL and I think it’s necessary to address it, but I also think there are more than a few formidable IDL prospects to be had from round 4 on. I think DeJean is an immediate impact player at both PR/DB.
TL;DR – just don’t ’Ponder’ or ‘Underwood’ this up….
Skol!
All the bluster about all these QBs going top 5 is driven by their agents, and teams that want to rip someone off in a trade. I think Maye will be there at 5 and the Vikings trade up to draft him, but I’m just an eediot on a Vikings website.
Completely agree. Agents and teams can drive conversations and spin narratives regarding who goes where, who likes who, who’s rising, who’s falling.
Denver and Vegas both need a QB. And the Rams have to be at least thinking about drafting Stafford’s replacement.
It wouldn’t surprise me to see Maye fall to 5. Feels like his stock is falling a bit. I blame the Trubisky effect.
The whole idea of “falling” or “rising” is preposterous to begin with, teams have their draft boards pretty much set and don’t move players around unless they see you in a gas mask bong or a guy does something stupid like a criminal act. Its really a matter of all the pundits changing their boards to reflect what they are hearing from agents and people around FOs, which almost all subterfuge.
I agree with taking whoever is available at QB at the 1.11 pick. Sweat seems to have fallen off of a cliff since his DUI. In all of the mocks I have done he usually goes late 2nd round. So, we could get QB at 11 and trade back at 23 to get an early 2nd and a late 2nd/early 3rd.
You are speaking sense today.
It is possible all 6 QBs are gone by #23, saw a mock that had Vikings trading up from 23 to #18 to take a QB (Penix I think, Nix was gone 13 or 14).
Agree that teams big boards are set and they are now looking at different situations that may be there when they are on the clock. KAM said as much in his presser on the draft a few days ago.

I SPEAK SENSE ALL DAYS!
Congrats on the move to Tater Territory.
Sorry for yelling.
Met with Movers and Realtor yesterday, feel much better about where we are currently.
Getting out quickly/cleanly/easily might cost a bit more than the full Remodel/list/open house/staging thing but we could be done and gone the day after the movers load our stuff.
When we did the move from Rochester to Billings (paid for by my employer), we had already dismantled most of the stuff and organized piles ready for boxing. I had the experience of going to work one morning, returning in the evening to our entire house minus an air mattress boxed up, going to work the next day and returning to an empty house.
When we did the move from Billings to Glendive (paid for by my employer), because of the chaos of the rapidity of relocation, we hadn’t had time to start pulling stuff apart, organizing stuff for packing, etc…and my wife was very very stressed each time we went to Billings for a day that we needed to get everything preboxed or boxed. The foreman of the moving team came over and said, nah, we (the movers) can take apart the bed and all that stuff and we will box stuff by the room it is in, you don’t need to do all that work for us. At that, my wife relaxed.
Funny thing is it cost the exact same amount for the move – obviously a little further drive the first time but more work for the packers the second time.
TL;DR just let the pros do their job. Give ’em each a couple of hundred bucks on the other end.
I have been moved by the army a dozen times. They come in like a tornado and take everything.
These movers will pack and brake down furniture and unpack and set up furniture in Idaho.
Realtor/Brokers will remove anything left behind and make any repair/remodels they feel is needed before reselling.
Read a funny Tweet yesterday:
The haters said I couldn’t do it. They were correct. Honestly, good call by the haters…
I don’t know why exactly, but that tickles my funny bone to no end.
Same, I find this quite funny as well.
Reminds me of a quote from the 30 for 30 ‘Pony Express’ about SMU.
Can’t remember the player, but it was one of the walk-ons that attempted to play after the NCAA death penalty that wiped out all their scholarships.
That player when talking about the athletic ability of a team made up entirely of walk-ons:
’We weren’t big, but we were also slow…’
Reminds me of this saying… It might not be very big around… but it sure is short!
My daughter also likes the T wolves and twins, so she has set herself up for permanent disappointment.
My Son realized that sports does not affect his life or income, so really just stopped paying attention to sports overall. He is way smarter than I am.
So…
daughter dumb like dad
son smart like mom
is this right?
Was hoping you were going to end it with, “He is way more smarter than I is.”
Well done.
Thanks for the summary Ben! Now I feel all warm and fuzzy inside knowing I am loved.
you are indeed loved, ya pansy
Speaking of being a pansy, I sniffled 6 times during that movie I went to last night….I truly am a pansy.
That Barbie movie is touching.
“Ordinary Angels” was the movie….
Although I would likely cry at the Barbie movie too.
I just don’t like Hilary Swank.
You don’t like her acting her acting? Her Looks? Her Politics? Her personality? Her life story?
FYI I neither like nor dislike her.
All of the above.
TL;DR Yes
What is this, amateur hour?

QOTD – not sure why this is ‘worst case.’ Several postings here and elsewhere, aside from Williams, have the other five ranked all over the place. Pick your favorite flavor of ice cream.
Regardless, pick the guy with the most accurate arm. In the long run, accuracy is a really big deal.
Worst case scenario because the better prospects would be off the board.
That implies other prospects are better than Nix and Penis which there seems to be quite a bit of disagreement about. I personally don’t know any of them.
There isn’t any disagreement, there’s the top 4 then Jr. Penis and Nix, that’s not to say they won’t be good, in ’83 the sixth QB drafted in the 1st round was Marino, who for whatever reason was passed over for the likes of O’Brien, Eason, and Blacklege. That QB class had 3 HOF players, and 3 guys who were ok for a while or flat out busts. Maybe this class turns out like that, who knows.
No disagreement. Just read here last week post (w/incl) pointing out little differences and praising Nix. Also read here a quote – that any GM that takes JJ in first round will get fired.
and listen to national analysts that are all over the place. So. at least I see quite a bit of disagreement.
Praise Nix? For what, throwing perfect bubble screens 70% of the time? LOL.
Do you read the blog that you are managing?
Not much last week
Nice evaluation from SCVF from a guy he says is really good – does a lot of film work and fair with no ax.
thought it was as good id not better than. most I have seen or heard.
If you are referring to the Brett Kollmann evaluation then yes to all the above.
Believe that was the guy – good stuff.
We just had several years of accuracy, we need accuracy and something more than a fabulous wardrobe from JCPenny.
that wasn’t the point – accuracy for an NFL QB is table stakes.
Oh, love the JC Penny thing. Maybe guys like Lance and Fields in their Armani’s that couldn’t hit the side of a barn with a football.
We had 6 years of a QB that is very good and very accurate who was paid as a top 5 QB. (And while I think he is overpaid, a lot, I am told I am wrong )
That salary plus poor decisions by the front office let us watch the team deteriorate over time.
I really think the team will do better this season with Darnold and the people signed on defense. The team, overall, will be better.
I too think Kirk was overpaid, but I don’t really blame him for that. A lot of QBs are overpaid because an elite few skew the market.
Its really ridiculous, there is really no scale. Basically if you are a sure fire starting QB not on a rookie scale you’re getting 40-45 mil a year and there isn’t anything that distinguished the elite from the meh, like Mayfield signed for around 40 mil per year and Mahomes is 45 mil a year, isn’t there a much more significant gap in performance than 6 mil per year between those two? Mahomes and Kirk definitely should not be at the same rate of 45 mil per year.
Don’t you thinking timing matters. If Mahomes hit the market tomorrow, he could command 60?
Somewhat, guarantees also matter, but there still isn’t any significant separation like there should be.
Don’t forget about Dak. His contract is stupid.
Yeah, him too
My thoughts/feelings about Kirk as it relates to what he was paid and whether I “blame” him vary over the course of his career. I’ll be the first to admit a big part of my “evaluation” is based on what I believe in and what I would have done if I was in his situation.
I’ll be the first to acknowledge that, based on the QB market, Kirk probably wasn’t overpaid or, if so, not by a lot. This is also what I believe to be the sticking point between those that do and those that don’t think Kirk was overpaid. The “he’s never been overpaid” crew only views this situation through the “market lens”. Fine…but people and the world aren’t that simple, IMO. At least, they don’t have to be that simple.
When Kirk was early in his career, specifically his time at Washington, and when he signed his first contract with the Vikings, I didn’t have an issue with how he handled things and what he got paid. His Vikings contract was the first opportunity of his career to cash in, and he earned it. Good for him.
Where my take begins to diverge is when he signed his first and later extensions on that initial contract with the Vikings. By this point, he had already banked well over $100MM in his career and he was starting to make comments about how he hoped to retire a Viking. There was also additional data available during this time regarding what it takes to build a championship team, to include how much is too much in terms of resource allocation for a QB.
There are only two QBs in NFL history who’s team have won a Super Bowl with the QB getting paid more than 12% of the salary cap in their championship season: Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady. Kirk, while a good QB, isn’t that good. Really, he’s not even very close. And anyone who thinks he is or can be is dumb. Really, really dumb.
Meanwhile, during Kirk’s tenure, he averaged around 14% of the salary cap (and overall had the highest cap hit of any QB during the 6-year period he was with the Vikings). His only season under 12% was 2023, the same season that KAM had to burn a ton of dead cap to address Spielman’s left over, highly-paid, past their prime, veteran contracts…in other words, it was too little, too late to help the Vikings.
So, my point is that Kirk’s demands on his extensions, while perhaps consistent with the QB market, aren’t consistent with a guy that wants to retire a Viking and/or help his team win a Super Bowl. He’s far more concerned about his legacy and image when it comes to what he’s been paid (e.g. “it’s not about the money, but what the money represents”) than he is about what his teams accomplish.
In short, I have no problem with his early career approach but the past 4 seasons his greed (and hypocritical comments to the contrary) changed my view about him. In his position, I would have taken less the last several years to give my team the best chance possible to compete for a championship. At the end of the day, I’d still be ridiculously wealthy and I’d sleep better at night, knowing I did everything I could, within reason, to win. Because, to me, who gives a shit at that point about “what the money represents”, unless of course you’re Kirk who sees money as the main measure of himself as a QB and a man, apparently.
I agree and very well stated.
BTW how are mom and dad, they haven’t been on here for a long time.
idk…I haven’t been around much lately. Burned out on certain commenters (really only one). I’ve found it’s easier for me to stay away than ignore condescending BS.
Why can’t I learn this?
Hammer dum dum
Thoughtful. Do you think his offer at 37 mil guaranteed for three years at the beginning of last year was over the top?
Well, according to his logic it would be about 14.4 percent of this years salary cap – above the magical 12 percent – so yes, over the top.
are those numbers right? 37 seems pretty cheap in today’s and next year’s QB market.
You’re hung up on the market, which has always been the problem between the overpaid/underpaid crowds. The market isn’t just based on what a team is willing to pay but also on what a player is willing to get paid. Kirk had a chance to adjust “his market” to give his team, the one he supposedly wanted to retire with, a chance to win meaningful games, and he didn’t. Instead, his ego was more concerned about how he’s viewed in the broader NFL QB market. His choice. But I don’t have to agree with it or him. Personally, I think he’s FOS.
Yes, I do. The salary cap from 2023 – 2025 (projected) was $225MM, $255MM and $273MM, respectively. So the 3-year average is around $251MM. I would have offered him around $25MM/year, or 10% of the salary cap, to stay but probably wouldn’t have gone higher.
$37MM would have put him at almost 15% of the available salary cap for those 3 years, unless they agreed to add void years. And even with void years, he’d likely have been above 12% of the cap. He hasn’t proven he’s worth that but, again, neither has any other QB in NFL history other than Brady and Mahomes. So, that’s not a slam on him, just a realistic measure of his worth to the team.
Again, this is me, obviously not him, but he had already banked over $150MM heading into last season. If the Vikings are willing to give me a 3-year, $75MM contract at roughly 10% of the cap, I’m willing to take it for the chance to actually win something meaningful. It’s still more money than I can spend in my lifetime and I really wouldn’t give a shit about “what it represents”…I care more about “what I represent”.
I’m no cap expert – just hear about QB’s salaries in general. And just to me, 37 seems reasonable for his level of play in the NFL nowadays.
I am on your side JRobert…37 Million doesn’t seem unreasonable for top 12ish QB – I would argue top 8 but not interested in rehashing that all day long.
Again, you’re stuck on a one-dimensional view that only considers the broader QB market, and if that’s the only perspective you’re willing to consider, then yes, $37MM is a fair price.
But the reality of markets is that they’re established at every level of an economy. Yes, there’s an aggregate market price to consider but additional markets can also be created for a given commodity.
Think about buying a car. You and I may be looking the same, exact vehicle and there’s a fair market price for that vehicle. But you may be more cost conscious or a better negotiator than me, and pay $5K less for the car than I do. In this analogy, you and I have a different “market price”.
There was a time I liked Cousins but, at the end of the day, I’ll always care more about the Vikings than a single player. As a Vikings fan, I didn’t want the Vikings to pay him more than around 10% of the cap but certainly less than 12% because, history shows, as good as Kirk may be, we wouldn’t have a chance at a championship if we paid him any more than that…unless of course you’re going to argue he can be as good as Brady and Mahomes (don’t forget, being an elite QB isn’t just about stats), in which case, I can’t help you.
Well I do very much believe in markets and market pricing (just from business). buying a car is slightly different than compensatiion but that’s another matter.
I don’t think I ever said KC was in Mahomes or Brady’s class – just a very good QB. so I need no help on that.
Now, to compensation, there are people who think Jamie Diamond shouldn’t make 35 mil a year. that’s too much to pay anyone. That’s lame, it’s not a charity business and Jp Morgan’s entire comp structure starts from top down, etc.
Now, you may say the market should only pay 10% of comp. but if the market says, that player is worth like 37- there’s going to be a gap. But overall, the market will find the appropriate comp.
And I think I’m aware things/people are more than stats/numbers. but thanks for the reminder.
Well stated, I can get behind this analysis. Rec.
Well said.
This made me laugh. Out loud.
Fuckin nailed it.

penoit jr at 11 would not be ideal. at least it would mean we have another 1st round pick though.
nix the first at 23 would not be ideal. at least we would have drafted a stud at 11 though.

Nix is the name of the evil guy in Lord of Illusions.
Penix is the name of, you know, basically.
These facts make neither ideal.
top…7 gifs of all time, imo
QotD.
I am fine with Nix or Penix if that is who the team wants.
Either of them on a rookie deal is better than the last 6 seasons, and gives the team salary flexibility to build a better team.
I would take either one at 23. Not sure they are worth an 11. In fact, you could probably trade back to the late 20s and still get either one.
You certainly can in most Mocks, I suspect that at least one will fall that far.
But I have been wrong before.
