- Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something feel free to ask. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here. Just be civil and cool to one another.

Here’s something to laugh at
Good morning, SKOL!
FTP!
Remember three weeks ago when ESPN and half the NFL world was talking about how great Josh Dobbs was?
Seems like a year ago, doesn’t it?
Flamed out quick. Got a rookie sitting ahead of him on the depth chart. The “Passtronaut” returned to earth.
NFL = “Not For Long”
LOL yup, best thing since the invention of sliced bread…
Twitter says Powell only played 2 snaps.
Anyone know what 2 plays we needed his unique abilities on?
Eagles outplaying the SeaHawks so far, and lead 10-0. Seattle needs to get something going soon.
I may not be around much the next two weeks. Just in case I don’t get around to it….
We wish you and yours a Merry Christmas VP and a happy, and prosperous New Year.
Got NFL, Wolves, Wild or Gunsmoke tonight. What should i watch?
Wild, back to .500
Think they are. I’ll channel surf like always.
I guess just like the Vikes, back to .500
LOL, yes, Minny sports.
Enjoy what we have while you can.
In about 4 weeks it’s over.
I know, i’m a realist. Lived in Minny all my life. Used to disappointment.
Kevin O’Connell said the Vikings will open Jordan Hicks’ window to practice starting tomorrow. Hicks is “very excited to get back on the field,” O’Connell said. They’ll monitor him through the week and see if he can return Sunday.
No word on Davenport.
Yeah crazy injury, hope he’s fully recovered
Saw Browning a bit lippy after game. He thinks he’s the 2nd coming of Brady now?
Yep and Pace was lipping off to Mixon after the game. After the Bengals beat them and Mixon ran him over….
Did they get him in concussion protocol? Lol
Detriot Sports Nation reported Mullens playing. Sure he is but has KOC said yet?
Summary:

Hall or Mullens discussion
Floridaskol is still pissed about the 3rd and 4th down tush pushes
Freezey loved the call because Mullens can squat over 800 lbs and Brandon Powell is the biggest player on the team, though Freezey didn’t even see the plays

slo dae
Holy fuck I made the list like 4 times! HAHA! All 100% accurate takes, except… who’s Eggsluser?
Not sure if good or bad to make Bens summary.
F, I fail
HAHAHA
i did ignore you didn’t i, ben. son of a gun i’m an idiot
lol…yeah, my wording could have been better. I thought about saying “progress (as the antonym of regress) toward the mean” but I’ve never heard that phrase before. Anyway, here’s hoping for some positive “regression”.
I had completely forgotten about Chris Farley playing Rudy Giuliani’s son Andrew back in the day on SNL until this morning. Laughed much to hard at it.
A bit unusual – early morning thinking about old SNL shows, Better than watching the news though I guess.
it popped up when I was looking at youtube for media selection
Oh, I watch old Johnny Carson shows with Robin Williams, Rodney Dangerfield, Jonathon Winters……. for laughs.
Classic.
Very funny stuff, LOL!
What about the guys who fit on the black or white side? Like which side would Mike McDaniels coach?
Got it covered
Okay Rashard, how about only black people can be cops? Id rather watch that drama play out than a racist Pro Bowl
What a clown.
Here’s a thought. Teams like to draft a standout college T and make them a G if they don’t have enough beef.
Why don’t we draft a couple decent college WRs and convert them to CBs who know how to time a jump and make a catch?
How about do what seattle did few years back. Draft a certain type Dback – big and strong. When you are bigger, you don’t have to jump as high to bat the ball down. Big and physical also helps in other ways.
Evans is a pretty big CB, like Richard Sherman size the rest are average or small
His “get the ball” skills need work. Still believe the old saying – the one thing better than a good little man is a good big man.
Physicality in football is always good.
He doesn’t have any get the ball skills that I’ve seen
Pretty sure Sherman is a DB converted from WR – at his request.
True, just liked his and Chancellor’s size.
Am I wrong? Absolutely everyone in the NFCN was trying to secure a Vikings’ playoff berth and possibly winning the division outright EXCEPT KOC.
Tush push with Powell?? They’d have had more chance with the punter out there pushing.
You are not wrong.
Wright weighs 245 pounds so it might have worked.
Not missing any meals. He’s under performed this year, not bad Sat.
Im fine not watching a .500 roster struggle in a WC loss this year. This feels like 2016 and 2018, id wager they miss out on the play offs. Hopefully can sneak in to the top 10 in April and draft our QBOTF and set this ship sailing where it should be again. Been off course for 5+ years now
I was dumbfounded this weekend to realize the Wilfs are almost 20-year owners at this stage. They promised us a Super Bowl…
How many more years they need? Asking for a friend…
I believe they took over in 2007, if they don’t deliver by 2027 they should be cut
Yeah, I wonder if they will get sick of it? Business is booming, the team is profitable but no more competitive.
I actually want to see this team shock the world by going to the NFC championship game without Kirk. Ala 1987.
Which of the RBs would drop the pass on the last play? I’m guessing Mattison.
C. J.
then the headline the next day reads:
’Ham is goat, Vikes lose’
That would make a lot of folks heads explode. Max chaos could be fun too
Merry mid-morning Monday everyone….
Hectic morning, appreciate the condolences below.
Wife handling well. Saw this coming for a few weeks. She’d been visiting everyday bringing one of the little dogs along as a companion – he loved dogs, in particular the little guys. Goose too excitable, although he understands the tone today and isn’t leaving momma’s side. Good boy.
He was only 68. In the last 5 years he’d had a kidney transplant and heart surgery. Was a bad diabetic and refused to change eating or lifestyle habits. He had a stroke in late June (having already had several mini-strokes 2 years prior) and was moved to the nursing home. Fought off several infections and pneumonia and a bad case of Covid. Hadn’t been out of his room in over a week. Wasn’t eating or drinking – they’d turn him and change him but otherwise he stayed in bed. Quality of life was zero.
We’re sad, but he’s not suffering anymore.
We’re postponing the service until after the holidays. His wishes are to be cremated and ashes spread. It’s about to get hectic around the Hammer House. And we’re still going to have to broach the subject of my mother in law and what her next move is. She’s 70 and herself not in good health. Living in a suddenly too big home that’s about to double in rent.
Lord beer me strength….
there is so much that goes into these things….praying for all the decisions that need to be made, that they are made with wisdom and clarity
Good luck. These things are always difficult.
Condolences to you and the family.
Life drama over the holidays is rough
You and wife hang in there. Don’t mourn entirely. Celebrate life as well. Life is short and fragile.
rewatching some of the game highlights.
4th and goal from the half yard line, the bengals scored…
i can see why Pace Jr went undrafted. While he is fast and has played decent, he met mixon in the backfield and thought just throwing his body into mixon would stop him. HORRIBLE effort by Pace there.
watching plays like that, flores had the exact perfect defense called up, and if Pace makes that play, HUGE momentum changer, instead baby Pace screws up.
At the same time… Pace is an undrafted rookie, he’s not gonna be perfect. I can’t say I see why he went undrafted… if the draft were today knowing how he’s played this year he would be drafted, no doubt.
well he was probably undrafted because of his size….which showed on that exact play.
He was able to stop mixon, but did not wrap him up to finish the job.
I am still a fan of Ivan the terrible.
Sometimes size and momentum win. Need more than one guy there.
Yeah, I don’t know too many MLBs that are going to stop Mixon there 1v1. If Pace is able to add 10-15 lbs in the offseason he may become a stud.
I think Anthony Barr at 6’5″ and 257 lbs would have probably stopped him.
Asamoah – 226 lbs
Dye – 225 lbs
Hicks – 236 lbs
Pace – 231 lbs
We have a plethora of small inside linebackers.
He won’t be able to wipe his own behind, but he’ll be a atud
Yeah. Got to wrap up a strong runner like Mixon. That really sucked.
So many things went wrong.
Mullens actually had the offense cooking again.
But holy shit will he take some really bad risks.
That 2nd int was unbelievably stupid.
Also that second TD pass that was on first down was pretty risky.
But I don’t think it was a coincidence that Addison suddenly had a big game.
I agree with this. Mullens > Dobbs, and it is not even close.
However, Mullens is still a turnover machine and does stupid things too often.
KOC will stick with him for the remainder of the season.
Hope it works out. I expect it will not.
If only we had a 3rd option to try out…
You don’t give up easily.
My 4th grade teacher told me he almost gave me an end of the year the most argumentative award haha. He was like, I wasn’t sure if it’d make your parents mad. I was like, naw they’re aware. lol
Kumbaya Kev needs to figure out how to put teams away with the lead.
Way too many times we let teams back into it over the last two years.
This actually predates KOC.
I remember Zimmer talking about a lack of killer instinct on putting teams away his final year.
It really frustrating watching a lead collapse.
Finish the damn game.
Yep.
Prime example is the Lions scoring late.
You want to destroy the other team.
Vikings Lions game won’t be flexed next week. It will be the only game on Fox at noon (which has the double header) And it will likely be the only game on either channel at noon for much of the nation. CBS has the single game and their 3:05 tilt will get most of the coverage.
Still trying to figure out why we switched up the play calls on D.
Flores looked like Donatel once we got a 14 point lead.
I’d have to see the all 22, but looked like we dropped into some version of a very deep cover 3 zone.
Abd they tore us up. First with little dump passes out in the flats.
Those were open for 7 yards all day. Once our guys moved up to cover those routes, we still had a deep zone which then left the middle wide open.
Anyone who then ran a seem route could sit in an empty zone in the middle of the field.
I couldn’t tell exactly what coverage they were in on the 3-21 conversion.
But I bet it was a deep cover 3 where we just vacated the entire middle of the field for about 25 yards.
Flores then would attempt to tighten up the coverage once they got inside the 30, but by then it was too late.
Donatel ran a similar D whenever we got the lead. It consistently let the other teams back in it.
Makes you wonder what’s going on?
Flores made some questionable calls, but that dumb*ss Evans gave up another game (like he did with LAC and Broncos, I think). He is solely responsible for 2-3 losses this year due to atrociously misplaying jump balls (or letting one bounce of his helmet after going through his hands). That’s not Flores’s fault, other than playing him and he sucks.
The weird thing is, it’s not only Evans. And not only this game.
Browning was just chucking up prayer balls, and our guys couldn’t even figure out how to knock them down.
We’ve seen this happen to Blackmon as well.
Even Bynum and Metullius will do this.
Just knock the ball down.
Frustrating.
Go back to Chiefs game – 3rd and like forever, and Mahomes chucks up a “punt” and our DB gets gets out jumped to the ball.
He is the main culprit, but I see it with others as well, especially Murphy if he ever even has good position to begin with. It’s so frustrating…
Like in this last game, Evans is literally in front of Higgins, backpedals past him while the ball is nearing, then jumps up behind him to try to defend while he’s catching the ball, all while Blackmon watches, rightfully assuming his guy is going to make a play (but not helping, either). Infuriating is more like it.
Just think we have a few guys don’t cover all that well and seem to react to ball poorly. Those jump balls are crazy. We need pressure to be effective. If we rush 5 or 6 and don’t get home, we’re screwed no matter what the defensive call is.
I’m not sure it was poor coverage a lot of the time. Bynum was a mess and looked out of position in a few throws…but a lot of the 4th quarter plays guys were in a zone, where they were supposed to be, and we gave the WRs too much time to find the gaps.
Or Blackmon and Evans were in position with decent coverage, but I once the ball was thrown, completely shit the bed.
I get what Flores was trying to do.
Make them burn clock by going underneath, then tighten the D once they were right around the 30 yard line.
But we couldn’t defend against Browning just randomly chucking it up.
Crazy.
Cincy is well coached and as you know if you give the QB time, WR’s will find holes in the zones. But, there’s giving space and there’s giving space. And you still need to react to the ball well.
Also thought we missed several tackles on the under neath throws that gave up far more yardage than it should have.
Hell, early on, Smith got faked out of his jock and Cincy missed a wide open easy TD.
Yeah. Those underneath throws of 5 yards turned into 10+ on way more times than they should with poor tackling.
How about we just drop 8 and rush 3?
That worries me – we just don’t cover and react to the ball well enough.
Depending on formation, I like rushing 5 (one blitzer) four across tight man with two over the top.
Didn’t watch the game, was shooting ducks on the Flathead Indian Rez. (BTW noticed not much respect for rules or regs on the Rez). Anyhow I realized after reading post on here and Txt’ing my kids. I did indeed watch the game. I watched that game dozens and dozens of times, just didn’t watch Saturday’s version of it.
Rules and Regs as far as hunting goes? Did you have a tribal license?
Yes regarding rules and regs with hunting. Yes, I have Tribal license. Mostly people shooting way early and way late. > 1/2 hr on both ends of the day.
It’s an easy answer… Tribal law enforcement is incredibly lax and lazy (not all I know a few great ones but a lot of their co-workers are incredibly lazy). It’s the way it is with a lot of Tribal Employees. One of the first by-laws in many tribes says no nepotism… shit it’s all nepotism. lol.
We had 424 yards offense but red zone failures and that prevent defense boggle my mind. Still can’t erase from my mind that INT do a D lineman.
That was without question the stupidest thing Mullens did.
He had some very bad throws, but that was completely stupid and ignored the situation. Even taking a Kirk-Like sack leaves you in easy FG range for any non-Vikings kicker.
In the past 7 seasons, since the Bank was opened in 2016, the Vikings had a home record of 5-3 or better in all but 1 season, which was 2020 when they went 3-5. And an overall winning % of .680 which is among the best home field advantages during that period.
So, I’d like to be excited about the fact the Vikings have 2 straight home games coming up but, this season, they’re 2-4 at the Bank which gives me a sad. Hopefully, they’ll regress toward the mean, finish 4-4 at home and make the week 18 matchup at the Lions a game for the ages (with the way the Cowboys are playing at home this season, I’m not giving the Lions much of a chance to win in Dallas).
A crazy thought.
We’re in a good spot. Win two out of three games and we’re in playoffs. Two are at home and both teams are beatable.
KOC was brought here to pick up the offense, McVay lite. Ok – time to shine and get the most of our offensive talent.
Flores – defensive genius. Time to get them guys playing their asses off.
All the turnovers, bad plays, screwups from earlier don’t matter now.
HC get your team ready to play.
It’s money time and it’s all in our hands.
That all would be nice. However, both the Packers and Lions are looking at the Vikings and saying, “They are beatable.”
Secure draft position.
Disagree. Try to win, unless you’re ruled out of playoffs. Anything can happen. Trying to lose at this point is a terrible take.
Maybe that’s what KOC and Flores are actually doing. How better to keep the league from thinking you would tank a little than to sue them and claim your old boss tried to get you to tank?
It is certainly plausible for the Vikings to get in going 1 and 2 down the stretch, 2 and 1 and they are practically a shoe in.
GET READY FOR SOME PLAYOFF FOOTBALL!!!
That is not true, they go 1-2 down the stretch they’re very likely not making the playoffs, especially with some of the schedules of those other teams at .500
Ben Dum Dum, I didn’t say probable, I said plausible
You’re the dum dum
plau·si·ble
/ˈplôzəb(ə)l/
adjective
Plausible vs Possible vs Probable
Possible = It is not impossible. There is no proof to suggest that it could not be achieved or that it couldn’t occur.
Plausible = This doesn’t sound impossible. As with “possible”, there does not seem to be any proof to suggest that it could not be achieved, but it is not definitively possible – it just sounds like it is.
Probable = There is a good chance of this happening. Not 100%, but better than 50%.
again
plau·si·ble
/ˈplôzəb(ə)l/
adjective
See above….
Wanna bet they miss out on the play offs? Ill bet you right now.
I wouldn’t bet on them missing the playoffs right now because nobody else in the NFC is showing that they want to make the playoffs anymore than the Vikings right now. They might get in by default.
It’a a crazy season. Few weeks back Eagles were unstoppable and now look. At about that time, Niners looked like crap and lost three in a row. Cowboys haven’t beaten anyone and got their asses handed to them yesterday.
It’s going to get interesting.
Why does KOC hide his face when calling plays? Everyone knows what he’s going to do. O, i’ll leave him alone rest of day.
Question at top. – thought Mullens played well enough. He made a couple of mistakes but he hadn’t been on the field for a while. Overall, the offense looked productive, hell of a lot better than we did last several games.
Actually better than well enough – pretty good overall.
Agreed, Mullens played well enough to win…He is a much better option than Dobby, and likely better than Hall at this point.
Mullens did what he does best, drive the ball down the field, on passes over 10 air yards downfield he was 8/10. The first pick looked like he misread the defense and didn’t see the guy, which happens to all QBs at times and I kind of expected at some point his first start in a long time. The second one is inexcusable for a player with as much experience as him, at best that ends with intentional grounding and well, the worst is what happened when you randomly throw the ball in panic while getting sacked. He was uneven but not the biggest reason they lost.
Compared to what our offense has looked like the last several weeks, I’ll take it.
Also, while experienced he hasn’t played in quite a while – so I give him a little break for some mistakes.
The flex deadline on the New Year’s Eve game on SNF is this Tuesday I believe.
If the Vikings/Pukers don’t get flexed by Tuesday, it stays on SNF.
Miami/Baltimore, Cincy/KC and NO/TB are possible choices to flex to SNF that week.
Since I’m going to the game, I hope it gets flexed out. Staying up until 11pm is too late for this old man.
This from the NFL website
They have until next Monday close of business to flex the game.
LOL.
Nevermind…..
DE dum dum
Haha, I kind of feel the same way BUT I also hope it stays the same so I can go to Volstead House in Eagan before the game. Whisky Wass is half off on Sundays and I never get there in time for their ribs.
I like their burgers and steak bites over their ribs.
All the food is pretty good there.
Their Brisket Nachos is an absolute favorite. I just have seen their ribs are like a ginger type glaze, a different flavor profile than usual ribs so I really want to try them. But not all that great huh? Always sold out whenever I am there in the evenings.
Oh, they are decent. I just perfected ribs (for my taste) by smoking ribs 6 weekends in a row a few years ago.
So I rarely will eat them in a restaurant.
Chicken wings I have down pat as well, but I like trying different sauces so D spot will happen again soon.
You should consider becoming KCBS certified. It’s so great. Becoming certified and your yearly dues aren’t free but you get to try all kinds of amazing competition BBQ and judge it. I do 1 event every year in SD but many of the people there are retired folks who travel the country in their RV, and stop by these summer events that have these competitions and get to judge for free.
110 bucks per year and I get to eat lots of ribs and tell people they are doing it wrong?
I may have to do this.
Yup, it’s pretty neat. They do 4 meats. Ribs, Brisket, Chicken, and Pork. Then some places also do turkey and steak among other things but those 4 are the staples.
Going to Austin this week. Found a place that mixes Mediterranean flavors with Texas bbq… I am stoked for that and many other places. It’s called KG BBQ, check it out on YouTube sometime. Looks SO GOOD! That and Leroy and Lewis.
Had some very good food in Austin the one time I visited.
But what sticks out the most, is that Rudy’s had really good “fast casual” BBQ that makes me sad since there are none around here.
For fast food, it was so good.
Oh cool.
Hey Edge,
I saw your buddy on the Packers get his balls crushed when he tried to jump over a defender. That looked like it hurt?
Haha, I had a good laugh at that one. Was texting his step dad during the game, they were at it. He’s a little biased but was pissed because Tuck is open A LOT and Love doesn’t even look to his side. So excited for him though. He’s showing why he shouldn’t be overlooked.
I agree, he has played well.
😂
LOL
That play made me chuckle.
Football sucked this weekend. Got some enjoyment watching pukes lose but about it.
Also enjoyed Cowboys getting pounded.
True. Cowboy fans were thinking how great they are.
Oh, there’s a lot of crying today.
You watched Brokeback Mountain?
Or was he watching security footage from the halls of Congress?
LOL
I have not watched Brokeback Mountain, and never will, I guess I am a homophobe
Same for me.
Homophobe is just a spin word. Just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean you are afraid of it. I don’t like the Packers but that doesn’t make me a Packeraphobe.
Whatever packerphobe
Sounds like something a Packerphobe would say…
I have never watched it because I have zero desire to see that kind of love story.
Do what you want, that is not something I want to see.
Now, if the leads were two hot women?
a fair amount of discussion of the two QB sneaks – appropriate.
But where was our defense the second half?
weren’t we up like 17-3, Chase went out, and what the hell happened.
yeah, defense folded in the second half
but why. i didn’t see it. so tell me why the defense folded ben, do it. do it now.
Cam Bynum really sucked, gave up 8 catches on 8 targets for 90 yards and a TD, that’s a start, they also allowed a 3rd & 21 to be converted to Chase with Pace in coverage as the nearest defender, didn’t get much pressure on Browning in the 2nd half, Blackmon and Evans suck and both were in position to make INTs but don’t have any ball skills and ended up giving up receptions. TL;DR, they sucked.
The Bengals floated a RB out to the flat whenever the Vikes applied pressure, which gave Browning an easy outlet when the pressure came. That process beat our pressure on several occasions in the 2nd half.
But, those damn long passes (for 50-50 jump balls), which we lost every time, killed us, too.
Yep. 50/50 balls all year, and when our pressure from blitzes doesn’t get there, our defense is hurting.
Agreed.
Not even 50-50, they are like 90-10 and we are losing them. Stupid play by one particular player (Evans) but Murphy sucks too.
So GF had a good post in one of the weekend threads.
He said he thought KOC told Flores to play prevent defense.
Makes some sense, but I feel like Flores would ignore him.
Why would you change the way the defense plays in the 4th quarter.
I just don’t get it. Why change something that has worked.
Were the end of the Bears or Broncos games any different.
He does the same thing at the end of the half. And we give up points there too
Zim junior it appears.
I just broke it all down above. . Really shitty 2 minute drill.
I’m sure its a discussion they have toward the end of of all games and knowing how “collaborative” the coaches and FO are I’m sure they come to a consensus.
Flores D also gives up way too many points at the half.
Basically if a team has more than 30 seconds, they’ll score unless it’s the falcons and Raiders.
Tampa: 0:16 left. 1 run for 5 yards.
Eagles: 0:34 left. 37 yards 3 points
Chargers: 2:08 left. 75 yards. 7 points
Panthers: 34 secs 18 yards 3 points
Chiefs: 1:39. 53 yards 3 points
Bears: 0:12. Kneeled
49ers: 0:07. Kneeled
Gb: 5 minute drive. FG with 0:00 left.
Falcons: 0:46. Punted!
Saints 0:16. 13 yards.
Broncos: 1:11. 46 yards. 3 points.
Bears: Vikings had ball final 2 mins.
Raiders: 1:02. 26 yards. Punt.
Bengals: 0:25 left. Lucky they dropped a deep ball.
7 teams got the ball with over 30 seconds left and a max of 2:08.
5 scored.
That’s shitty defense in a critical point.
Nice analysis
Why don’t the Vikings ever have the ball to end the half?
Because when they should be scoring to end the half they turn it over.
Long post to just say…
Vikings suck at winning
So the odds of winning for the Vikings was posted on the screen as 75% in the 4th quarter and KOC & company choked that away.
I would say the odds of making the playoffs are now 25%.
If Seattle loses tonight, the Vikes are still the 6th seed.
After Thursday’s game, the Vikes will be the 7th seed.
They are going to have to win 2 of 3 to get into the tournament.
KOC’s penchant for lame calls later in the game and the Defenses penchant for giving up big plays in the 4th quarter, i’m not sure we can beat the lions and the packers will be tough
Yep. Not very likely.
LOL, Packers just got curb stomped by TB in GB, they suck, but this Vikings team is capable of finding inexplicable ways to lose.
I predicted we’d lose out after the Raiders game.
#forKodiak
kodiak would be proud
Obviously nobody has kept the rum stocked.
I liked Kodiak. The trick was to just talk to him about something other than the Vikings! He had lots of good stories to tell. I really liked hearing about his outdoor adventures and getting his thoughts on missing hunter stories, etc.
oh yes, i’m a huge fan of kodiak and five
Will lifer ever come back, maybe in the offseason.
What happened with Lifer?
What happened to Skolly?
Picked up his toys and left.
Sounded like he was getting stressed out.
I wonder if he still golfs?
That is not a sport to play if you rage easily.
I would assume he does.
Golf addiction is pretty hard to give up.
I really enjoyed Sept/Oct golf this year. Once I realized I would not break 90 this year, I just stopped keeping score altogether and really had fun.
Hit the ball much better, and bad shots did not upset me.
Picked up his toys and stomped out.
I assume it was mostly due to getting crushed in our fantasy league.
I sent him an email, said he was enjoying a break and will be back.
He still gonna pay his $50 for FF?
IDK, I did not ask him that question
I enjoyed 5 haha.
Probably correct and we have no one to blame for giving away too many winnable games.
Most prediction models have the Vikings at 50-60% to make the playoffs still, most I saw after yesterdays games had Vikings and Rams filling out the last 2 WC teams. Rams have tough last game @SF, but I’d expect SF will have the #1 seed in the bag and should absolutely not play any key guys, if that happens I think the Rams win out, they’re playing well and only loss in like 2 months was OT in Balt. Atlanta and GB are dead. Seattle has a decent shot to make it, especially if Hurts doesn’t play tonight and they win. I don’t think anyone in the NFC south makes it as a WC, looks like TB will win the division maybe. Really though, if the Vikings just win the rest of their games, they’re in, my guess is they go into week 18 in a must win situation against a Det. with nothing at all to play for, and still find a way to lose.
I know right, you just know they’re gonna do something stupid and ruin it, like go out and beat Det in convincing fashion Sunday, then turn around and shit the bed at home against GB, then beat Det again but still miss the playoffs.
They’ll split with Detroit but lose to GB. They may make the playoffs still though since most of the NFC is terrible.
Need both home games.
I think the NFC will end up with 2 or 3 teams that go 9-8, it’ll come down to tiebreakers
As soon as they showed that graphic I was pissed, and expected the worst.
Just like they touted 160+ minutes since the Vikings defense gave up a TD.
STOP HEXING US
I chuckled hard, out loud.
Those “% of winning” next gen stats are just made up BS.
ESPN does it all the time.
They just change the odds as the game changes.
Totally useless stat.
Good morning Skolo’s

My Condolences….take care of the wife…
RIP, sorry to hear that, all the best to her and the fam.
Condolences.
having not seen much of the game at all.
I get we are pissed that the 4th and inches failed…
but looking back at the play by play, did we not qb sneak like 5 other times, “succesfully”?
i guess i’m not against doing it again. I would prefer KOC be realistic about how when this team needs a yard when it matters most, we fail 99% of the time if we run/qb sneak, so maybe shouldn’t have there BUT we were successful the entire game with it
True.
But should we be trying that “tush push” with an 181 pound receiver?
Perhaps Ham would have been a better choice.
i would imagine we could have come up with a better person to help the cheek sneak, yes.
The issue is when it didn’t work the first time and they come back and run the same damn play with the same motion, with the same tiny little man pushing him. Like even putting Ham back there instead gives the defense a little bit different look. But what they did was literally the same thing as having a car stuck on ice/snow and spinning wheels and instead of trying something else just hammering on the gas more. So dumb.
i honestly have no idea why they have that play call with powell back there. i’m unsure of what KOC is thinking having powell back there is making the other team think/worry about.
I almost think the first time was the element of surprise, like, no way do they do the tush push with Tiny Tim back there… But the 2nd time… literally no excuse. SAME. EXACT. MOTION… UGH!
Correct.
Doing the exact same play after the first one failed is plain stupid.
It didn’t fail because of lack of execution, it failed because our center is baby poop soft, our QB isn’t a great athlete, and we had Tiny Tim pushing the tush.
If they were going to go for it on 4th, they should have tried taking a shot on 3rd. At least a mid range slant from a heavy set and catch em off guard.
Correct, or even the vice versa I am OK with. Do the Tush Push, it fails, then do the same exact motion again, play action hit something aggressive, at least we would have went down swinging FFS!
Exactly. The could have put Tiny Tim in motion like he was going to tush push and then had him motion back out at the last second and tossed him the ball. He is tiny, but very fast..
You can probably guess the thought process was, “No one will think we will run the same exact play with the same exact motion again.” Which is kind of true, BUT it doesn’t matter, the defense wasn’t reading anything they were literally in formation to stop that one play.
I still say the first one worked. Mullens fumbled the snap on the second or they would have gotten the foot or so needed.
Would love to see a detailed replay of the 1st one.
I watched it several times with the replay. The official on the far side had him marked past the line by a half yard. The official on the near side had him inches short. Of course they give the ball to that guy to spot it.
Using technology would fix that. Of course, as soon as the do start using tech, the Vikings will be on the wrong side of critical calls.
They say, they did an “immediate review” and he was short…what did your eyes tell you? When I was watching it live I thought he made it, I haven’t seen any replays and the NFL network sucks so they didn’t show any.
I could not see the ball, since Mullens was facing the ref on the far side, I figure that ref had the correct spot and it was a first down.
Probably would have missed the FG anyways…..

Bradbury on those two attempted sneaks.
Oof.
Yeah, the tush push works better with a center that doesn’t suck, a bigger QB than Mullens who can squat 800 lbs, and someone over 180 lbs doing the push
It’s so fucking dumb. Like so dumb. We know who Bradbury is… does KOC not? We know Mullens isn’t Hurts… I just don’t get it. I can understand trying it once. Especially if you know it’s 4 down territory. But twice is inexcusable when you know our OL isn’t built to bully. It’d be like running a read option offense with Kirk. We can’t get mad at Kirk for being terrible at that, that’s all on the play caller.
this 100%, we are gutless
Didn’t they have two DT in a gaps and their ends were head up on our tackles. We had a center and two guards to take on the two DT’s. Lot of blame to go around.
Bradbury historically gets pushed back by big DTs and a bull rush. Add in Risner, who is damn near elite in pass pro, but historically below average to outright bad in run blocking.
Then add Mullens. Who does not look like he’s got a ton of lower body strength.
You get this mess.
I figured we would sneak it twice there.
Just sucks we couldn’t get it.
All three are rather poor. but think 3 guys should be able to two or at least hold their own. Also, Hall could have jumped one gap over and done a lot better – lack of experience.
3rd and inches – fail.
4th and inches – fail.
Still pisses me off.
i love the play call…
you have a qb that can squat well over 800lbs…..and the player behind him was the biggest player on the team…
couldn’t have expected that outcome…
Honestly, any old regular QB sneak should have easily gotten 12 inches. We suck.
it’s because we are gutless when it matters most.
I think it’s a minnesota sports thing to be honest….
We don’t suck but that play call with our undersized center sucks.
Eagles O Line, specifically their center, is miles better than what the VIkings have for that kind of play.
Add in that Mullens fumbled the snap on 4th down… Meh.
I think the spot was shit on 3rd, but how do you challenge that?
with the technology we have today, how on earth are we leaving the spot on the field on every single play up to some old guys who are literally ON the field of play as well….
you are telling me there is ZERO way to have a sensor on the ball and the entire field have sensors so wherever the ball crosses there is an EXACT spot? horsepoop.
i didn’t see any of the game besides the first quarter so i’m not even arguing the spotting of the ball in the vikes game. I’m saying it in general.
My favorite is when a punt goes out of bounds, it’s 100% guessing where it actually went out.
Yep. One small line of a sensor about as thick as a thread, could be inside each football along the stitching, and you could have exact measurements.
Harder to fix the game is probably what they are afraid of. But that is easy to overcome. Software can always cheat.
I was thinking about this the other day and wondered if one would still run into a problem of knowing at what point the players knee or whatever was down in conjunction with the sensor-location of the ball.
But it probably shouldn’t be an issue. You’d have a timestamp on the video, so you would just compare the video time stamp to the location time stamp.
I think we made it on the 3rd down, they claim they did an immediate booth review and confirmed the spot…I would love to see the angle shots on that.
Huh?
Brandon Powell is like the third lightest player on the team at 180 pounds.
Freezy dum dum
But overall, I put this on the defense for giving up 24 points in the 4th quarter/OT. Just like blaming the defense against the Giants.
DEdumdum for thinking i was being serious…
i also don’t think mullens can squat well over 800lbs
hello dum dum, i’m dum dum

Poll question. Mullens was “Meh”.
Probably gives the team the best chance to win, but inspires little confidence.
I still would like to find out if Hall is a possible long term solution.
Kwesi will re sign Kirk to a two year deal, Mullens will back him up, they will draft some shitty QB in the 4th round again, and the next two years will be more of the same bullshit we have experienced since 2018.
Just above average, and once in awhile look like a very good team.
Good morning, SKOL!
FTP!
Give Hall a chance…
i think when we are out of the playoff picture, we will…
i honestly believe Mullens is our best chance at winning games, but once we are out, Hall will get a chance. i think. hope.
Who gives a shit if we are out of the playoff picture. I want to see what the kid has when something is on the line. Garbage time performances don’t show much.
Perhaps the rest of the fanbase, the coaches, players, want the coach to play the player who gives the team the best chance of winning at this point.
I get that. I am saying Hall playing with nothing on the line is a nothing burger. The thing is Mullens might be seen as the best option but we don’t know he’s the best option unless we give Hall a chance. If I felt like we had a snowball’s chance in hell to actually make a run in the playoffs I’d say sure, go with Mullens but at this juncture let’s see what we got in Hall.
I understand the nothing burger.
I still feel – if we stop giving away games – we can play well enough for a fair shot at playoffs.
Hall will get his chance.
Zactly.
They do when he sucks and makes obvious he is not a QBOTF
Kirk is the QBOTF. I expect Vikings management to be as delusional as some (NLNVF/Skolly) and think this is a SB team with Kirk at the helm. They will extend Kirk and draft defense in the 1st. Guessing DT if there is one there or DE if they let Hunter walk.
The thought of two more years of Kirk really annoys me.
But since I do not go to games nor spend money on this team, they can continue to be average if that is what ownership wants.
I always have books to read or video games to play if the games are not entertaining.
Not my preferred outcome, but I think that is the most likely outcome. No matter what Kirk’s uncle, I mean NLNVF says. I will have a hard time getting too excited about this team until they make some moves to be a truly competitive team and not just one that might make the playoffs.
I review Steele Justice. It’s bad but in a fun way. Perfect movie for Vikings fans!
that looks like a fun one to watch.
