Keep up on injury news from around the league at MSN’s NFL week 16 injury report.

The NFL has asked congress to pay more attention to illegal drones at games, amid recent sightings, according to Sports Illustrated. Ya, congress should worry about the NFL’s games instead of the public’s safety. One of those drones could take illegal video footage & SHARE IT without paying the NFL their $millions/billions, the poor owners may miss out on some precious pennies.

  • Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
  • Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
  • Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
  • All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something feel free to ask. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.

Saw this sentence in an article about the Arizona Cardinals upcoming game.

‘The Cardinals making the playoffs isn’t impossible, but it is a tall ask. They’ll have to win out the season and claim the division to earn a wild-card spot.

I can’t tell if the reporter doesn’t understand sports or if the editor doesn’t understand English.

The Vikings have the sixth best chance of winning the Superbowl according to sports books. They are +1300. The Ravens are 9-5 and are +800. The “experts” still don’t believe in the Vikings. I’ll be curious to see what the odds are if we win the North.

bowbunch

They’ll probably go down. Even if they won the super bowl the narrative/ talk will be about how much better the Lions, Bills, etc actually were and the Vikings just lucked into it. There will be a certain continent here complaining about the play calls and how it’s just not good enough too.

There is always a degree of luck for any team that wins a SB. And if they say we were lucky, so were the Chiefs last year.
Injuries are part of the “luck” thing, and the Lions have a lot of injuries. that’s life in the NFL.

I don’t blame them. They trust former MVP Lamar more than Sam Darnold. It comes down to the QB for many pundits. Looking at the past SB winners, it makes sense.

If the Vikes win the next three, people will have to put the “they haven’t beaten anyone” narrative to rest. It’s up to our players to be clutch and change the narrative.

Did you know for most of Christian history Christmas wasn’t even a huge deal until Coca-Cola made it into a huge deal. The big holiday was Easter, the dying for our sins and resurrection. Sure, Jesus being born was a big deal too but not like Easter. Which makes sense when you really think about it. But Coca-Cola got that all switched up… thanks consumerism.

Now, I’m not saying that is a ton, but what happened to serving in Congress being a service to your country? It’s not supposed to be a career. The left has been pushing these kinds of activities in the name of equality. Unfortunately it’s misguided. Equality occurs when people are selected for their initiative, talent, skill, experience, etc regardless of color, cultural background, ethnicity, gender (or non-gender) etc.

Yeah when people are wrong for the right reasons they really seem to get it twisted. Because the reasoning of I am doing this to promote equality etc… sure feels good but it’s not what’s happening. Happens a lot. The reverse happens too when you are right for the wrong reasons.

Remember when the Browns owner asked a homeless guy about team personnel?

Here is another intriguing NFL owner personnel decision.

Apparently, the Jets owner and family members use the Madden Game Ratings to determine if a player is worthy. Life as an NFL owner.

The latest evidence of dysfunction within the New York Jets comes from TheAthletic.com. Among various juicy nuggets contained in the #longread is a claim that owner Woody Johnson nixed a trade with the Broncos for receiver Jerry Jeudy because Johnson believed Jeudy’s Madden rating was too low.

Darnold has another one (JA) or 2 (Jones) viable options to throw to that Kurt didn’t have. Opportunities spreading thin.

19 December 2024 7:38 am

the reason i think the Vikings are going to stick with JJ and let Darnold go get PAID, is because i think it’s obvious what a good defense does for a team…

the defense won a few games this year and also kept the team in the game until the offense showed up.

Let Darnold get paid, thanks for your service me boy, keep building the defense and offensive line, and get JJ and his miniscule contract in there and roll..

that’s what i think at least

Zero doubt it is the military/government. These drones are apparently the size of cars. Even out here in lightly populated flyover country you can’t hide the setup and takedown of drones of that size from prying eyes, except within the confines of a military installation.

As to the purpose of the drones, who knows? Of course I go to some kind of low level radiation leak, monitoring for isotopes over the NJ area.

What I find odd is the guy who wrote it is the same guy who wrote Silence of the Lambs and those Hannibal Lechter books.

I think players want to be on the Vikings. That is helpful.
I do not think Sam will stay around, unless he somehow gets very little attention as a free agent. I expect him to be around 40 mil per year and a three year deal somewhere.

Meanwhile, we will have JJ and maybe Mullens, Maybe Jones, and be an even better overall team next season (talent wise) and probably win fewer games.

If Darnold wants the most money, he’s gone.
If Darnold wants to be on a good team, he will stay.

I’d be good with $30 million per year for two years.
Vikings currently have $76 million in cap space for 2025 with Jets and Darrisaw locked up.

My WAG is that KAM is emboldened with his style of cheap QB’s and KOC as coach, so there is no need to spend big money on a QB.

So I’d be surprised if KAM gives Darnold $30 million.

Exactly. The bird in the hand……….The way my head maths is he stands to make more money over a longer period of time staying with us at a lower salary.

His choice will be made on how he views himself – is he successful here because he matured and progressed, or because he’s in a great situation?

If he feels he can be good anywhere, he’s gone.

Not sure Darnold has the same “money mentality” and/or hardball contract demands as Kirko does. My guess is he won’t get Kirko paid, but some team will likely offer more than the Vikings.

KOC is no doubt a good coach for any QB to play in, probably one of the best in the league.
But Cousins was a good seasoned QB when KOC got here and he made him better. Sam was a number 3 draft pick that had played in some really poor situations and KOC made him look good.
Believe KOC can help most all, but there must be some appreciable talent to begin with to get high level performance.

JacksonVike
Reply to  JRobert
19 December 2024 7:55 am

That is kind of my point, Kirk was an average QB with Redskins, albeit a crappy organization. He comes to Minnesota and for the first few “Zim” years, he is an average QB at best. KOC comes in, and all of a sudden Kirk looks good to great at QB, depending on how you view him. Kirk than goes to Atlanta and looks like the average to below average QB he was in Washington and when Zimmer was the coach.

Same could be said for Darnold, he was an average to below average QB when he was with Jets and Panthers, didn’t see him play in SF. He comes to Minnesota and KOC has him looking like a good to great QB.

Do other teams think they can continue the good to great QB play from Darnold and pay him. Or do they shy away from him looking at what Kirk has done in Atlanta, lowering his overall price to sign?

If he gets paid to go somewhere else and he turns back into a pumpkin, does that say KOC is a true QB whisperer?

JRobert

Think Kirk and Sam are different. Kirk was older, and injured, but had a solid record of performance. Sam has now had ‘one’ good year preceded by seven rather poor ones.
Sam will have offers, but will one year over ride his previous history? And gotta believe most smart GM’s know we have a stacked offense.
Will be interesting to see how this plays out.
