Vikings News
Get Ready to Hear Kirk Cousins/Atlanta Buzz if Falcons Hire Belichick, personally I think its BS and if BB goes to ATL, they’ll bring in Jimmy G and a rookie, but who knows.
Ivan Pace and Mekhi Blackmon were named to the PFF All-Rookie team, for whatever that’s worth
Vikings Quarterback Kirk Cousins Hopes Taylor Swift Will Be ‘Around the Game for a Long Time’, yeah, at this point in the year we’re reaching for news
An article about how trading JJ would just be the same thing as trading Moss, which did not work out
Minnesota Vikings Discussion Topic of the DAY
The Vikings have two very good tackles but the interior oline still sucks according to my eyes and PFF, particularly because of pass blocking. PFF grades are Ed Ingram at 59 with 7 penalties (7th most in the NFL at his position) and 5 sacks (9th most in the NFL at his position) which is a combined top 5 worst in combo, and one strip sack of his QB (most in the NFL at his position). Risner had a PFF grade of 57 with 3 penalties (43rd most at his position) 0 sacks (least at his position) and 0 strip sacks of his QB: disclaimer, Risner played roughly 200 less snaps than the other IOL members. Bradbury had a grade of 60 with 5 penalies (13th most at his position), 3 sacks (14th most at his position), and zero strip sacks of his QB. Ingram and Bradbury graded either above average (Bradbury) or average (Ingram) in run blocking, but both had sucking grades in pass blocking. This is one of the few times I agree with PFF. Risner on the other hand graded well in pass blocking but below average run blocking. What would you do with this group considering Risner is a FA, Bradbury can be cut with no ded cap, and Ingram has sucked in pass blocking but is only going into his 3rd year (personal feeling regarding his character aside)?

Suppose i cheer for Bills, Kitties, Texans and Packers?!!!
It’s a free country…
Is it? How you doing NVF? Still freezing nads in minny but light on horizon.
I’m good. Tampa is cool… not cold. Played golf with a guy who pissed me off last Sunday. Started smoking this very stinky weed (he called it his medicine) as soon as we finished the first hole, talked in my backswing, and just overall was a rude, inconsiderate playing partner.
Shot 41 though, and told him I was going home after 9.
LOL. Dickhead.
On the 4th hole, I left my approach shot short, on the front fringe of the green. The pin was tucked way back and I had about 90 feet. Had to go up one rise, then flatten out, then up a second rise, then downhill breaking right to the hole. He walks by, and says almost as I was starting my putting stroke, “good luck with that”. I had picked out my line, but obviously touch from that distance and the two rises, was pretty dodgy. I stroked that baby perfectly over the spot I’d picked out on the green though, and the ball rolled beautifully to the hole. I thought it was going in, but it came to rest about 2 inches from the hole. He goes “hmmmph… short”.
Yeah, dickhead.
Playing partners in golf can be trying. I always said nice shot if it was. Usually the bad ones we all laughed about.
Well, golf is a social event for me, more than playing competitively. I always compliment good shots and to me that’s just how you make a round more enjoyable.
I think this guy was competing with me, and I wasn’t competing with him. He shot 43 with a double on the 9th hole, to my par. He didn’t say “nice round” or “nice playing with you” or anything. Just asked me to drop him at the clubhouse while I took my clubs to the car. I brought the cart back and he got in and drove off.
Don’t play anymore but we had a great foursome. Might be the most important thing in golf for us amateurs.
Yeah when I moved down here from Maryland, I left behind three great friends that I played golf with for almost 10 years. Men of a certain age. We often went to dinner together, and we called ourselves the ROMEO’s. Retired Old Men Eating Out.
LOL. Yes, think playing partners most important in golf. I could never hook up as a single or anyone i never knew.
Not sure why you would cheer for the packers, but ok
They both have lots of success, doubt i cheer for anyone on divisional wrap up. Exciting, close. Agree?
Antonio Pierce confirmed as Raiders HC. Who cares about the Raiders, though.
Guess we’ll see next year what he can do. Why is it the Raiders are so bad, year in and year out?
They weren’t bad year in and out. Gruden had them trending in the right direction before Goodell fired him for calling Goodell a faggot over email when gruden wasn’t even in the NFL. McDaniels was absolute trash, and Pierce took over a 3-5 team that was clearly not responding to its coach and led them to a 5-4 record. He is obviously a good leader, but we’ll see how he handles the other responsibilities of being a HC.
The famous Redskin email scandle with the NFL investigating Snyder and look who got hooked.
yeah, I don’t receiver other people’s emails getting leaked even though they were the target of the investigation
Yeah, very odd.
Wasn’t NFL investigating Snyder for all the employee sexual stuff charges. But Snyder blackmailed them as he had stuff from owners meetings that would make the NFL look like crap.
Gruden then just sort of became a giveaway and Snyder got off (for a while).
Been a while thinking about this though
Yes, the investigation into Snyder was centered around the Cheerleaders claiming he was basically pimping them out to rich friends at parties, and they were always sex objects wherever he had them go. But I also think there was a “hostile work environment” charge too.
I didn’t follow any of it though. The part about Snyder having dirt on the other owners made me chuckle. Billionaires gone wild…
What you Einsteins figure out today? Should be a good divisional weekend, it’s winding down. Conference championships then SB. Guess i should cheer for NFCN but goes against teams i’ve hated for years.
Ravens elevated Dan Chisena to the active roster.
He runs fast
Baltimore – maybe Lexington Market (from below)
Oh yeah… the Farmers Market… duh… hell getting old!
Sat there eating fresh oysters from the bay and drinking beer. Neat place as I remember.
Using the same data set I compiled in my long post on yesterday’s thread (I had to add the Buccaneers, Packers and Texans because they weren’t a Top 10 team based on RS record), here is my take on most to least likely upsets in this weekend’s games:
Chiefs – Bills is the most likely upset, to the extent you can consider a Chiefs win an upset (the Bills are only favored by 2.5 points which for a home team means they’d be a slight underdog on a neutral field). This is the most even statistical matchup of all the games, although the Bills 6th ranked offense trumps the Chiefs 15th place finish. That said, the defenses are both solid with KC getting a slight edge (2nd for KC versus 4th for Bills). The Bills have home field but the cold weather won’t phase KC, and their playoff experience over the past 5 season helps. That said, Mahomes is the real equilizer and the biggest reason
I think Buccaneers over the Lions is the next most likely upset. The Bucs have been on a roll the last 5-6 weeks but, more importantly, this is another fairly even statistical matchup. The Lions have the offensive edge, finishing the season 5th in points scored whereas the Bucs finished 20th. But the Bucs have the edge on defense, finishing 7th in points allowed compared to the Lions at 23rd. The biggest edge the Lions have is their 2nd ranked passing game against the Bucs 29th ranked passing defense, but despite the Bucs giving up a lot of air yards, they don’t give up a lot of points. The Lions have home field, and it will no doubt be rocking but, given their history, that comes with a lot of pressure that could affect both the team and result in some “Diaper Dan” play calls.
Next we have the Texans at Ravens. The Ravens beat the Texans on every statistical measure, other than offensive passing yards and rushing defense. That said, this is a “strength against strength, (relative) weakness against weakness” matchup. The Ravens have the #1 rushing offense but the #21 passing offense against the Texans #6 rushing defense and #23 passing defense. The Texans have the #7 pass offense and #22 rushing offense against the Ravens #6 passing defense and #14 rushing defense. The Texans also finished the season as one of the hottest teams in the league over the past 8 weeks, and Lamar Jackson has a “meh” playoff record. So, this could be a more competitive game than a lot of people are expecting.
The least likely upset, IMO, would be the Packers over the 49ers simply because San Fran is statistically, the most consistently, highly ranked team across all categories. They have the #1 QB in terms of both RS QBR and QB rating and the #3 offense and defense. Their offense attack is very balanced (#4 in passing, #3 in rushing), as is their defense, although a little less so (#14 against the pass, #3 against the rush). That said, Jordon Love has had a hot hand over the past several weeks and the Packers have a “top third” passing attack. Their best plan may be to attack the 49ers relative weak pass defense and hope that Shanahan abandons the run too early in the game, as he’s been known to do when pressed, especially in high pressure games (the Patriots vs Falcons Super Bowl, for example). On paper, the 49ers look like a team of destiny but I do believe the Packers have a punchers chance in this game.
Very solid take. Couple of thoughts.
Bucs offense can be very up and down – against Atlanta a couple of weeks ago was terrible. Against Packers, was great.
A thought on Packers. If Niners shut down Packers running game, will be interesting to see where Love is at as a QB.
Great analysis, looking forward to see how this plays out.
Sounds right.
Id go with all home teams win this weekend.
KC/Buff is a coin flip to me.
I hope SF crushes the puke.
For NDR and too much niceness. and a bit of learning for me
What exactly is a “team friendly” deal?
Do you mean “What’s the definition of a team friendly deal”?
Or do you mean “What would a team friendly deal look like for say Kirk Cousins”?
I am guessing you are asking the later?
I guess the later. Folks are always talking about him taking a team friendly deal.
I’m not sure what that means. If his market is 40 mil and he takes 35 is that team friendly?
that kind of stuff.
Yes…at 35 Million per year is exactly what I would consider a team friendly deal to be…I think he will likely get offers for north of 40.
Black Kirk got 60 mil a year, though he is quite a bit younger, I’m guessing Kirk will get offers of 50 mil.
I have seen sources quoting around 45 million for his market value…seems about right.
If he gets offers its because the Vikings didn’t come to an agreement. If the Vikings re-sign him, he will get no offers.
thanks. Also don’t understand the guaranteed money and trade causes etc.
Those are apparently things Kirk wants and Keiwsi won’t give. Not all contracts are guaranteed…so I sign a 3 year contract for 20 mill a year to play tackle for the vikes…if the contract is not guaranteed, they can cut me after year 1, not have to pay the remaining 40 mill, and not have it count against the cap.
Seems strange though – bit of a game.
Didn’t Hurts sign like a $250 mil contract (not sure if guaranteed). he got paid this year and had a down year, He’s going to get paid next year and even if it is down, he’ll still get paid again for next. they aren’t going to cut him I mean.
Looks like its not fully guaranteed, only 180 million is…so no, not cutting him anytime soon.
180 mil is series money to me
And I’m not sold on Hurts…
Me either.
I sure am when you need one yard, otherwise I’m not either
He got paid a ton up front, but his contract is structured so that his cap hits for the duration of his contract are rightly 13.5 mil next season, then 22 mil, 32,46, and 54 mil cap hits, which are incredibly low as the cap rises, now after his contract expires there’s a 35 mil cap hit in void years.
Thanks. Don’t really understand this (money is money to me), but maybe we should use a little more restructuring.
Heard DAK is getting like 60 mil next year but no big deal as they will. simply restructure.
Adding void years and restructuring contracts has become the norm when it comes to cap management in the NFL. KAM added two more void years to Cousins contract to navigate a one year extension.
Sooner or later you have to pay the Piper though.
I think KAM dumps Cousins, Hunter, and the Hitman this year. Smith is like a $15M cap savings if he’s a post 1 June release. That money will offset Hunters $14.9M cap hit, leaving Cousins $28.5M hit the only real issue. Of course Davenport will also be a $6.8M cap hit next year.
I swim with all these numbers. But maybe KAM should go down and see how Jerry does it – they somehow always seem to make it work.
The Vikings have “done it” just fine themselves. By cutting ties with Cousins, Hunter, Smith, and Davenport this year, they’ll be in fantastic cap shape in 2025. They’ll be fine in 2024 as well, if not the top of the heap.
Well – if I cut my leg off I’ll lose a lot of weight.
I like to keep my best contributors – probably not Davenport though.
KAM is in full reset mode I think. Remember, a step back isn’t all that bad according to him.
We’ve discussed before – feel the same. Always form over function.
And as Patton said, I don’t like paying for the same real estate twice.
No backwards stuff.
And if he is serious about winning a super bowl…he should play for 20 million.
Pocket change to an NFL QB nowadays.
I know, but if you want to win and you have more money than you could ever spend, let your team have more money to build up a team around you….10 million a year can get you a damn good Oline guy.
To much business clouds my thinking. Never once had anyone give me back an employment contract and say they wanted less money unless they wanted major concessions somewhere else.
But he is not under contract.
Don’t understand? Aren’t we talking about the next contract ?Both sides come to some agreement and draw up a contract.
What am I missing?
He is under contract till March 2024.
Much too much niceness, agreeability, and somewhat intelligent discussions of football…
You guys are off your game today.
FUCK YOU I DISAGREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thats the Spirit!!
NO IT ISN’T!
BUT IT COULD BE!
What can I argue with Ben Dum Dum about?
I guess I think Kirk is going to Atlanta, Ben doesn’t….therefore Ben is stupid.
Ben smart – no dumdum. who’d want to live in Atlanta if didn’t have to.
Isn’t that where you live???
Hell no – Atlanta sucks. I’m just outside of Orlando.
Probably pretty close to NLV – like hour drive maybe.
I used to have conferences at St. Pete’s Beach. I would usually stay an extra day and go golfing, I bet I have played 6 or 7 courses down there.
We were all federal contractors, the Feds decided that was bad optics, now we have to go to Baltimore for conferences which is much more expensive for everyone…but hey it looks better.
Gov’t optics is crazy.
St Pete is like 50 miles away. Interestingly, you can drive 60 miles the other way and be on the Atlantic.
Florida has a ton of great golf courses.
Oh, and Baltimore is also nothing to write home about either.
Baltimore is OK…I have probably been to a dozen conferences in Baltimore. The inner harbor isn’t bad. So far one lady from our group has had her purse stolen and there was an attempted mugging of 1 guy in our group.
Inner harbor is pretty good. Beyond that, things can get rough quickly.
forget the name, but there is a great big market real close to the harbor area.
Wouldn’t want to live in Baltimore though, and hate the politics there.
You’re probably thinking of the Fells Point area…
Been a while, but there was this market about the size of a city block. You could buy seafood, veggies, fruit, you name it. And several kind of bistro type eating places. Pretty neat place.
Yep… they have a lot more restaurants built up around that area now.
Yes, I have been to Fell’s point and eaten at the restaurants there.
Just clicked on the purple bubble to go to the top of comments and it took me to yesterdays thread. Tried it again and it worked, like normal.
she’s hot
Definately a MAGA radical girl!
No doubt about that. Guess who’s hotter?
Have a nice weekend, mate 😊
Soda slut and it’s not even hump day!
but she’s not on fire…
Hey DE, I answered your dang question about Drake Maye. TL:DR he is way more like Justin Herbert than Turdbisky.
But Maye and Trubisky both went to UNC so they must be just as alike in every other way.
Correct, if you are a QB from UNC you will be drafted by the Bears and suck
LOL. Thank you. I was joking.
I’ve read his prospect stuff.
I haven’t seen him play at all.
I like Maye over Williams.
Yeah I saw a random game of his two years ago and was like, who the fook is this guy? Then I saw a couple more and a few this year. Unlike most fans, when I actually look into a player I don’t watch any highlights, I try to find film of entire games so I see all the sucky plays they make too. I guess you could say I’m more interested in seeing the times they suck.
It’s kind of like looking at reviews of a product. I look to see the percent of people that give it a 1 and then check out those reviews. It is easy to see how many of they 1s are just morans that don’t know the difference between the Post Office and the actual product, but it can also give you some insights into potential problems.
my favorite 1 star reviews to read are when it’s about how a product was broken or ruined in shipping, or how the box it was shipped in was damaged etc….
NOTHING to do with the actual product.
Yeah, those are exceptionally helpful when I try to learn something about a product I’m interested in.
I give you a 1-star review because I don’t like what I imagine the cut of your jib looks like.
Yeah, I do that too, I look for reviews with trends of a similar problem
I know you can’t believe much coming out of teams in the offseason.
Pick #4 available??
Or they’ll trade up to get Harrison Jr.
That would be interesting.
We would have to come up with a catchy name for JJ, Addison and Jr.
I meant Arizona. If they want to give Murray weapons, that would be the way to do it. They might have to go to #1 though.
Never thought about it that way.
I guess I’m assuming some team trades up for the right to Caleb Williams.
Likely, which would mean the Cardinals don’t have to go as high depending on who trades up to where. I really hope the Vikings are the ones trying to do that. I’m not sold on Williams and that’s too big of a jump. Move up to around 5 for a guy, maybe. I don’t know enough about any of the guys coming out yet and don’t watch much college football. I did like JJ though from what little I saw.
we wouldn’t need to trade to 5 for JJ
Even better then. If you can trade back a few and get him, super.
Even better would be to pick somebody at 11 and then trade back in to the first round at pick 31 or 32 so you get the 5th year option.
Pats, Cards and Washington are in places to trade down with other teams, people think im crazy for thinking that they wouldnt want to pick a QB that high or at all. Those 3 are teams that would trade with the Vikes imo.
I think the Pats are a wild card with Bill gone. I think they’ll pick a QB and are a possibility for a move to #1.
Trading down should always be an option.
I’m not convinced Kwesi would trade up.
Yeah, with that contract they are kind of stuck with him. Also, while he wasn’t worth that contract he’s not a terrible player. I miss Lifer rn because he’d come tell me that Murray is a midget clown who sucks.
don’t know about Lifer, but quite a few analysts point out his size is a bit of a limiting factor when trying to throw from the pocket.
Maybe true, but I think its more that he just isn’t adept at sitting in the pocket and throwing accurately downfield, Brees was about the same height but he could do it.
Murray is 5’8″ and unless he starts drinking a lot of milk he ain’t getting any taller.
And not even close to Brees – reads or throws.
I got 5’10” for Murray and 6.0″ for Brees
Who knows what their real height is.
Combine measurables are the most accurate
He’s measured 5’10 at the combine so he must have shrunk. But you are right, he is nothing like Brees.
With his cleats on maybe. Look at him out there. Hate to use Lifer’s term – but look at it.
Brees looks like a giant compared to him
They don’t measure in cleats at the combine, he’s 5’10.
Find a picture with him standing next to Russell Wilson who is 5’11’.
Maybe elevators in his socks.
Regardless, NFL lineman ain’t getting any shorter.
Wilson’s short too, not as short as Murray I don’t think though.
lol
I laughed so hard at this, I don’t know what the equivalent of racist is in terms of midgets, but I am that
Sizeist
Is it racist, sizeist, whatever ist if I laugh at all people equally?
Now would be a good time for that meme from “Elf”, where the midget says “Call me an elf, one more time…”
Much better! LOL!
Chuckie to the Aints sounds possible…
I’d be a little surprised that the NFL would want this.
LOL, no fucking way Jon Gruden is taking an OC job.
If he wants back into the NFL, he might have to take an OC job.
Zero chance that happens, though if I were an owner I’d hire him in an instant just to spite Goodell. Though I would not give him roster control.
‘I love you, but you are not serious people….’
Day 8 of the outlaws in town. Day 8 of 11. The entire point of staying so long was to help my MIL clean out her house – she and my FIL are/were hoarders and there’s a lot to do. A LOT. Furniture, albums, clothes, piles of newspapers and magazines, tools, CD’s, etc….
18 totes of Survival-style MRE’s and protein powder for the upcoming apocalypse.
So far I’ve went every day to pick up my MIL and bring her to my house to play with her granddaughter – then I go back – alone, and clean/move trash, move snow and ice the walkways. I’d estimate I’ve spent about 35 hours over there the last week or so, with many more hours ahead of me.
Day 8 and my in-laws have spent 0 hours there – remember it’s their ‘top priority’ (heard that phrase constantly since they’ve been here) So far they’ve: Went to dinner with friends, 2 different museums, the movies, numerous shopping trips, trashed my house, let their kid tear up an ENTIRE ECONOMY PACK OF TOILET PAPER (laughing maniacally at the mess and NOT cleaning it up – I did), broke my favorite coffee cup and somehow lost a Roku remote that I cannot find anywhere.
Skol
Happy Friday!
Next trip to the movies, change your locks and hide the key amid the mess at your MIL’s house. Leave a note, ransom style and then go fishing with the pup.
I can have a talk with your in-laws, if you want…
Parents that take their kids to someone else’s house and then let them act like barbarians should be taken out behind the barn.
Sucks that you have to go through that.
You and wifey hang in there….
So 3 more days of this? Hang in there, light up occasionally, and be as strong as 300.
Yeah, like after day three this would be me
Also, my in laws (especially the MIL) annoy the absolute shit out of me, but whenever I or my wife need helps, they are there immediately willing to do anything.
Lol
It’s greedy to take paid sponsorships? Fucking OK… People are dumb. And maybe he sees he can make up for the discount he will take with the team with local based businesses like Target and such to make up that difference. Like if someone came up to BOOM BOOM SKOL and said we’ll give you $100,000 to be in our commercial… like ol’ Boom Boom would turn that down.
You must of missed where Kirk publically said, “It’s not about money. I have made enough.”
In a discussion about what’s important from a contract standpoint. Not sure what that has to do with this.
I mean yes.
But if you have made enough, why do sponsorships?
I’m not saying he is greedy. Just saying he will take the money, so to say he has made enough and doesn’t need more, is disingenuous IMO.
Contract money and sponsor money are two different things. I’ll give kwerk a pass on this. Demanding $50 mill fully guaranteed for 3 years in a contract is a different story.
I’m fine with whatever he wants to do.
It’s just his public statements on having enough and his actions are a little at odds.
Well, he’s had way more time to do endorsements lately, so there’s also that
True.
Not on Tuesdays though. Tuesdays are basically Cousins Sabbath.
LOL….
Since October 29th every day is sabbath for Kirk.
The only Sabbath that matters…

On the doomier, stoner, rock vibe. Some buddies of mine band. Good shit, you might dig em. From South Dakota
This is some good shit indeed, thanks for sharing 🤘
I’ve been listening to The Atlas Moth a lot for some time now, you know them?
I have not heard this, for sure check it out!
Keep the doomier suggestions coming. That band Rifflord I have known those guys forever. The main guy is married to the girl who played they keyboard, I went to high school with her. Their original 2nd guitarist that started the band with I also knew my whole life and played shows with his other bands. Now where I currently moved a buddy I’ve been jamming with for years is the new 2nd guitarist but he hasn’t listened to a lot of doom stuff. I mean he knows the classics right? But some of this stuff I will float his way as they are writing a new album and he’s looking for inspiration.
I’ll try to dig up some gems. Cool story btw, sure your buddy will get the hang of it soon enough.
Here’s some older shit I still like to listen to, enjoy.
Loving this man! Good shit!
Noice, enjoy!
It seems the libs propaganda is working – screw capitalism!
Exactly, I am with you Edge, someone pays you a couple of million to hold a bag of chips….somehow that makes you greedy??
Stupid BS
Well, Kirk did say it’s not about the money. He has made enough.
If he takes Gronk’s approach then he should do all the commercials. Gronk never cared about what his contract was worth. He publicly said a couple of times that he didn’t touch a dime of the money he got from his NFL contracts and only used what he got in sponsor deals.
That’s fine and smart.
Did Gronk publically say that it’s not about the money?
In reference to his contracts, just like Kirk, I believe so. Taking money from corporations and saying your contract is not about the money are two different things and taking money from corporations could actually make him comfortable taking less from the Vikings. If he leaves MN, is he going to have the same opportunities as he does now? Kohls, maybe. Pizza Ranch? Probably not. I have no idea what commercials he is actually doing because I don’t live in Commiesota but I doubt he would have the same opportunities going to a new city.
In general, when some rich person says it’s not about the money, I don’t believe them.
It’s about money for everybody, as it should be.
Just be honest.
So, had he said I would rather get a contract for 2 years at less per year, than a contract for one year at more per year, would it end this argument?
No because

It’s not about hate. At all.
He NEVER should have made public statements about money. Keep your money talk to yourself. If he truly didn’t care about money, there is no point in discussing it.
He didn’t make a statement, he answered a question.
“I’m not discussing money…..” was an option.
Had he said nothing about money, and just answered the question; “all I care about is a maximum length contract”. would that have helped?
Interviewer: Kirk, how much is money a consideration in terms of signing a new deal with the Vikings?
Kirk: I’ve been blessed beyond my wildest dreams and at this point in my career, money isn’t the most important thing. In fact, I’m going on record to say I’m never going to make any money doing anything ever again. I will play for free, do free promotions for any brand that wants me and I will not take another dime in my lifetime. I’m also changing my name to Theresa, but you can call me Mother.
Is that what you heard? Because I don’t recall the part in bold/italics.
I don’t remember that part either. My video feed must have cut out.
I don’t believe people when they publicly say it’s not about the money. It is always about money. For all of us.
Dude, I am far from a Kirk apologist but you are so far off on this one you need to just let it go. He obviously was talking about signing a new contract. Do I expect he’ll play for $20 mill? Nope. Money may not be the most important part of a new contract, but he isn’t going to want to get disrespected either. Sponsorships are not at all connected to that statement. Of course he’s going to take the commercial gigs when they’re offered to him. That in no way shape or form has anything to do with what he will pursue in a new contract. If anything it incentivizes him to take less from the Vikings to keep those sponsorships.
Well well stated. My God, sometimes this stuff is just crazy. Maybe we’ll all start calling each other Comrades.
perhaps the reason he has taken so many commercials lately is he is planning on taking a MAJOR pay decrease for the next two years…..
Maybe.
Of course we will have to define what ‘major’ is when Kirk is either re-signed or signs somewhere else.
and i’m being facetious…..i’m FAIRLY confident he could have played for free everyone minute he has been in the NFL and never had to work a day in his life after he retires
LOL.
He is a humanitarian for sure.
i just wish i was his friend so i could ask to borrow a milly and never pay him back
I’m 100% he kicks 10% of his gross earnings to the big guy upstairs in addition to whatever charitable giving he does.
i bet he gives even more than 10%
I’m guessing he gives 10% strait to tithing and then gives above that to additional faith based organizations like IJM.
I agree he probably does.
After of course the 40% to the Lords in DC.
Don’t know about Minnesota, expect they want a cut too.
Yep.
If you live in a high tax state like Minny, you are paying 50% in taxes total.
Highest fed rate is 37%.
If you look at from the amount taken by taxes, pro sports athletes are getting about 50% of what the contract is.
Freaking robbery by our governments.
Not sure, but isn’t the 37 going back to 39.5 as it had a limited life.
And fear it’s only going to get worse.
I believe it’s 2025 when the tax rates expire and go back to pre Trump levels.
Not if Trump extends em.
“it” has to refer to something. What was the “it” he was talking about. It was clearly contractual situations. This isn’t rocket surgery.
You are forgetting to

Ok. I guess I’m an idiot for not believing someone when they say “it’s not about the money”.
IT is referring to contractual negotiations. This is like someone being quoted when asked why are they wearing a jacket today and they say, “It’s cold out” and then you come along and find a picture of them next week on vacation in the Bahamas in shorts and going, “what a liar! I guess I believed him when he said it’s cold out.” They are different situations.
It’s like they are trying to open a whole Pandora’s box of worms about this greed stuff.
Hahaha!
He’s a troll but I laughed.
Ive see more silly DadKirk
commercials this year than in years past.
@Nah. Can’t be about the money. He has enough@
Kirk Cousins wouldn’t ‘turn down’ chance to play for Bill Belichick, explains what makes him a ‘great coach’ – CBSSports.com
Here is some more of that Atlanta/Cousins/Belichick steam that BenDumDum doesn’t believe.
I could post it today because it is news and not just a rehash of 4th and 8 or how his stats show he was the best QB over the last 3 years..
Given recent record nd all the chatter, wonder if Belichek is over the hill or not?
And even if he is some, is he still a lot better than the rest.
Yeah, no QB in the NFL is going to turn down BB, doesn’t mean BB wants Kurt as his QB.
I dont think he wants a Rookie. Falcons will draft one but I bet it will be later in the draft, and they throw $$$ at Krik. Thats my dream anyway.
I do believe your dream will come true KFEY
Skolifier thanks for the analysis yesterday…it was well done and mostly serves to corroborate what we intrinsically knew….having a “good” QB matters, offense is more important than defense, but hard to win if either suck, and really hard to win championships and Super Bowls without a good QB.
I am enjoying the RG3/Jay Gruden drama.
Nice post by Gruden to RG3
“You weren’t good enough. Kirk was better.
Cleveland didn’t want you, Baltimore didn’t either.
Quit blaming me.”
Gruden is absolutely right and RGIII is a little bitch. The end.
Yep. That is why I am enjoying it so much.
i don’t know anything at all of what’s happening, but goodness i love it
Love it !!
Me looking at this mock draft…
I have no idea whom the Vikings should draft.
I am looking forward to buying in on the hype after the draft, getting super excited by end of August, and then have my purple dreams crushed by week 4 of the season.
If Drake Maye is there at 11 just go ahead and celebrate.
Of course. That is normal.
FTMP I only know about Big Ten players, also I think 90% of college QBs coming out suck and I’m usually right.
I am honestly surprised that CJ Stroud is doing so well. I did not expect that.
Neither did I. I figured he’d be at best a decent QB, mostly because the history of Ohio QBs is that they suck.
Same
I don’t get the Drake Maye love.
He feels like Mitch Trubisky 2.0.
Enlighten me.
agreed, I’m scarred
What was the injury?
I’m not going to. You can look into it more, but he isn’t a crybaby fingernail painting pansy, so there’s that.
I feel disrespected.
I think you did freezey’s work for him yesterday.
LOL i just said this
Ok, he has every physical trait you want, he’s somewhere around 6’5 and 230, ideal size. The other QBs highly ranked do not, Williams is like 6’1 215, Daniels Daniels has height at around 6’4 but is a stick at around 200, the other couple maybe first rounders are average. He also has great athleticism, not elite overall but elite for his size, rushed for over 1100 yards and 16 TDs in his two years as a starter, will probably run in the 4.5-4.6 range, which for a QB his size is pretty impressive and right about where sCam Newton ran. He can make off schedule plays and off platform throws when things break down from what I saw of him, AND also throw accurately from the pocket. Arm talent? He has a very strong arm and is accurate.
Howeva, from what I saw of him in like 6 games I watched between his two years starting is that while all those physical attributes are accurate, at times he’d hold the ball waiting for his first read to get open and not move on to other progressions, which is something you could probably say about every draft prospect but its is still a concern. It also looked to me like he depends too much on his arm talent and took risks he shouldn’t have based on that, like a couple of the picks I saw were where he tried to make a throw that no matter how strong and accurate your arm is its still not gonna happen. He’s still probably the best physical fit for KOCs offense in addition to being one of, if not the best overall QB prospect in the draft. Physically he’s a lot closer to Justin Herbert than Mitchell Trubisky. Also, he isn’t a one year wonder like Turdbiscuit was in college, in addition to the rushing stats I mentioned, he’s thrown for over 8k yards with 63 TDs and 16 picks in two seasons. Also, he played under a completely different offensive system and coaching staff than Trubisky, but I get it, they went to the same school so they are the same player, kind of why I didn’t think Stroud would be great.
My favorite thing about Maye though is in addition to being an elite physical draft prospect at the QB position with all the physical attributes you want, is he’s not a little crybaby bitch who will go cry on his momma’s lap when he loses a game with painted fingernails. As with any highly drafted QB though, its about what’s between the ears that will make the difference, this kid has every physical trait you’d want though.
I’m sure someone will point out that the only QB I really like in this draft is white and that is why I like him.
Yes, you are a racist.
To be a racist, it doesn’t matter what the color of his skin is, it matters what the color of your skin is.
I identify as orange.
Then you are definitely a racist.
But, did his teammates attend his 21st birthday?

The problem with a JJ trade isn’t the JJ trade itself. It’s whether or not we can trust Kwesi with whatever draft picks such a trade would net.
If Kwesi had nailed the last two drafts, I’d be all like, “Heck yeah! Trade JJ! Let’s Hershel Walker some team!”
Kwesi really, really has to not suck this offseason.
This is the crux of this matter. Queasy has not shown the ability to draft well – or even average – so far.
Trading the face of the franchise in such a situation might be a big mistake. Queasy really needs to nail this draft, I’d rather he does that with the picks he currently has to work with instead of getting rid of our best player.
I agree with this.
1.Sign JJ,
2.maybe sign Hunter,
3.let Kirk chase a super bowl and cash somewhere else
4.draft a QB in round 1 or 2.
5.draft a DL in round 1 or 2.
Drafting a specific position is what leads to Treadwell type picks. Take BPA.
And Ponder
Correct, and Bradbury
Probably true.
But if it’s a WR, do you take BPA there?
Yes because “BPA” is weighted towards needs to some extent. If there is a WR sitting there at say 25 they have ranked as the 5th best player then you take the player and figure it out from there. As long as you don’t reach ridiculously like Ponder then having targeted positions can still work. Just don’t pigeon hole yourself into having to take one specific position no matter what.
Yeah, but what about at #11?
I assume the only WR worthy or considered BPA is MHjr.
Which if he is there, I guess you have to take him.
That’s what I mean. If Harrison is there, take him. You could do a Titans type trade then as well and trade JJ mid draft.
Brian Thomas Jr is a stud and will surprise a lot of people.
Will be one of the top guys from this class in a couple years.
He’s mid and will be meh.
Yeah, they said it about JJ too.
Yeah, or trade back if possible, good teams draft thinking a year or two ahead.
KAM has been uneven so far. He seems to like trading with Detroit. First trade during the draft was awful. The second trade with them for Hock was good for the Vikings and actually good for Detroit too. His first draft sucked. His second draft is pretty good so far, Addison was one of the best rookies last year, Blackmon was up and down but for a 3rd rounder pretty good. After day two you gotta wait a couple years to see how developmental players pan out. In FA its been a mixed bag as well. Phillips and Hicks have been solid players but not impactful. Murphy was good, not great, before getting injured. Dean Lowry was absolute ass before getting injured. The Couch was actually a major disruptor but played all of 2 games due to injury, complete waste of cap space and a roster spot. Technically a FA, Pace has been a pleasant surprise. Though not flashy, he is a very good player, especially for an undrafted guy. Overall I’d give KAM a D+ at this point, mostly because of that absolute shitbox of an embarrassment that was his first draft.
I don’t car who the coach is, who the QB is, whatever – you ain’t doing squat with D* drafting.
Drafts take a bit to evaluate, but yeah, so far not great. The most significant shitburger he offered up was the first round in 2022. He passed over a player who is already an all pro to trade back for horrible value only to take a player at the same position who sucks and probably will be cut in the offseason. Outside of that, its not terrible. Kind of a take out the long runs and he sucks, except opposite kinda thing.
Don’t know jack about GM stuff. But given our many needs, do feel with confidence good drafting will getting us there faster than not. Good picks move the ball, bad picks are losses..
JJ has 5 years of prime left and probably 5 more high output good years after that left… That is not the Hershel we got lol.
Thing is is you cant factor that in, when the time to strike is now, you do it, you cant change who is making the picks when the time comes around, they are there for a reason.
My concern is the “diva” angle. JJ as a WR is prone to the diva syndrome. If the team is loathsome and he’s not getting catches and TD’s and W’s etc, in other words he gets frustrated = locker room problems and press room highlights. He plays hard and makes awkward catches = chance of significant injury. If the purpose of the team is selling #18 jerseys and keeping fans hopeful they will build around a superstar WR go for it, but best chance to build a complete team is trade valuable pieces at prime and start in the trenches and at QB. I think the team will have a terrible season next year so see the whole “well we will REALLY suck without JJ” as fools gold.
This is pure conjecture with no support behind it. He has shown to be a great teammate even when things aren’t going great.
I wouldn’t want a player on the team that was ok with this
Only a total fucking loser would be ok with the team being loathsome and a QB that couldn’t get him the ball. Which is the total opposite of Diggs, who was on a good team and he was getting a fair amount of targets.
On Skolifer’s post yesterday, I found it very interesting, but I would like to see a comparison of QB rating and its correlation to the bottom ten teams as well.
The data set took me several hours to compile and I don’t have time to put together a “bottom 10” analysis. You can find all the data on PFR if you’re inclined to fulfill your own fancy.
That said, per my post yesterday, if 70% of the Top 10 teams have a QB with a Top 10 QBR, then you can infer that, on average, 7 of the Top 10 teams have a “Top 10 QB” which leaves only 3 other QBs that are spread somewhere among the remaining 22 teams that didn’t finish in the Top 10.
Same goes for QB rating, which had a 60% correlation, leaving 4 Top 10 QB rating QBs among the remaining 22 teams. But as I said yesterday, QBR seems to be a better indicator than QB rating in terms of correlating QB stats with team wins.
I appreciate the effort put into your post and I wasn’t asking for you to do the homework. I just thought it would be interesting to see how many top 10-15 QBs are on teams that have bad to mediocre records.
My opinion on the IOL is draft or sign FAs to replace all three. Have a “true” starting position competition throughout the offseason and start the best players at their respective positions.
IOL is kinda ugly in the draft this year.
No its not, its about the same as every year.
Nah, more than a handfil
of guys went back for NIL money vs being a day 3 pick.
Who?
I could make up 10 names and you wouldn’t know the difference lol.
players with eligibility are returning vs. Bring day 3 picks. NIL money and the transfer portal making it possible
You’d have to make up ten names because you don’t know what you’re talking about.
Or you could look it up and see what I’m talking about.
listing potential day 3 picks who have eligibility and you’ve never seen play to tell me they suck anyways doesn’t seem like a great use of my time
I’m messing with you mickdumdum. Though I will say, the Vikings don’t need anymore developmental day 3 picks on IOL, they need at least one guy who can step in and play as a rookie, so more day 2 guy.
Depends IMO on what they do at QB. If you’re bringing back Cousins I’d re-sign Risner because he can actually pass block, which is important with a QB that has average at best pocket presence and no significant ability to scramble, outside of Risner I’d look for better or cheaper options than Bradbury and better options than Ingram. If you’re not going with Cousins who cares, replace all of them.
All three are weak. But before Kirk got hurt, line seemed to gel some and pass blocking became OK. Now, run blocking is another matter. We have to improve on this and I’m not sure if it’s the RB, scheme,, blocking or some combination.
do think a big strong center will help both the guards.
Pass blocking from Bradbury and Ingram sucked all season. Risner is actually quite good at that but sucks in the run game, basically the opposite of the other two. Also, size doesn’t mean shit at Center.
sucking is relative – it can still suck but if it’s.adequate enough to execute the play, it’s not good but livable (for now).
Still, run blocking sucks and has for a while. Need to be able to move the pile on some 3rd and 1’s.
The running is a two headed monster. Because we can’t say Mattison can’t see the open holes and then say there were no holes. I say it’s a combo of both. Obviously need to upgrade at OL and RB.
If they go the rookie route at QB there is probably some value in keeping Bradbury to make checks at the line. If you replace Bradbury and have an inexperienced QB then Bradbury’s replacement needs to be a solid vet. Are there any available that are actually that much of an improvement on Bradbury?
Bradbury sucks. The End.
If you keep Risner, or bring in IOL that are not good at run blocking, we need to pick up a bruiser RB that can blow up a lineman on 3rd and short.
Think Derek Henry might be available this offseason?
Bring Leroy Hoard out of retirement
if you need 2 yards I’ll get you 2 yards, if you need 5 yards I’ll get you 2 yards.
Yeah, I think both lineman that can pass block in addition to run blocking, and a RB who can actually fall forward for a yard would be good.
What Edge are you taking at 11 and why?
The best there is, because we really need one. Should win “most insightful answer” with this post… 😉
I’m not the Vikings GM so I’m not taking anyone let alone “edge”.
This guy?
11. Minnesota Vikings: Laiatu Latu, DE, UCLA
Minnesota has made due on the defensive line, but Danielle Hunter’s age and pending free agency makes edge rusher a need. Latu has established himself as one of the top edge rushers in the class after recording 23.5 sacks over the last two seasons.
No.
I’d take Newton from Illinois, then Taylor from the Hurricanes.
Newton is probably a top ten pick, so do you take a QB or Newton at 11?
Leonard Taylor III, Miami
His pass-rush win rate is one of the highest at his position, making him one of the best — perhaps the best — pass-rushing defensive tackles in the class.
If Taylor is the pick, Kwesi will likely have to move up to get him in the second round.
Depends on which QB is available. If it isn’t Maye or Williams probably pass and take Newton, then trade back into the first round for McCarthy or one of the next tier QBs.
That’s kind of what I was thinking as well.
Take the best DL first, find your QB late round 1 or round 2.
Newton doesn’t rwally
fit Flores scheme.
need a big NT like Vea not a 3T
So by that logic Hunter doesn’t fit Flores scheme either, which is absolute bullshit, Flores “scheme” is to put whatever the best players are out there, its why he plays 3 safeties like 90% of the time Mickdumdum.
Yeah that didn’t bite em in the ass did it?
the Vikings DL had the worse pass rush win rate in the league in 2023.
Harrison Phillips wasn’t a NT, even though he tried.
Vikings trying to make square pegs fit in round holes
having a real 0-tech vs trying to have a smaller DT like Newton, who’s too small to be a NT as wel as not having the length to play a 5T is setting him up for failure.
Worked out great as far as what a NT is supposed to do, which is stuff the run. The Vikings were 8th in the NFL in run defense so I’m not sure exactly what nonsense you’re talking about. They need interior pass rushers because none of the current ones can do shit rushing the QB, they ranked dead last in rushing the passer from the interior. The Vikings need a John Randle, not a Pat Williams. Period. The End.
Why are we taking Edge somewhere at 11? Am I missing something. Did he make you angry and so you are doing some mafia stuff to him?
Poor Edge… wonder what he did to be taken somewhere at 11.
Lunch date.
Lunch date or sleep with the fishes?
Bye Kirk
But he wants to “retire a Viking”, give a team discount because “it’s not about the money”, and “win a super bowl”.
How can Kwesi say no to this?
Depends on the discount. If it’s truly a great deal then by all means let’s have Kirk back and pay him 25 million…
The Vikings are going to re-sign him. Guaranteed.
Of course they are. this all offseason internet jabber.
I do honestly think they’ll come to some kind of compromise. I do think Kirk is genuine that he’d rather stay here and the Vikings would prefer he is the QB next year, we’ll see though.
I agree with this. I cannot fault Kirk or his agent for wanting all the money they can get, and I cannot fault the Vikings for wanted flexibility.
Should be an entertaining off season.
Yeah, I’ll never be mad at Kirk for getting everything he can, I can however, shit on Rick for giving him terrible deals.
Is it bye Kirk or buy Kirk?
Bye buy Kirk?
Bye Kirk buy?
Buy Kirk’s bye?
Regarding the iOline.
Replace two of the three, and Risner can at least pass protect. But I would be happier if all three could be replaced.
