We finished the second episode of ‘Quarterback’ last night. I’ll be honest, the more I watch this, the more I like Kirk Cousins. It’s hard not to like the dude, especially when you see how great of a father and husband he is, and how hard he works on his game. Mariota also comes off as very likeable and seems to be a genuinely good dude. Mahomes doesn’t quite come across the same. He’s a great damn player, there’s no doubt about that. He’s the best player of the 3 guys on the show. I’d say the best person award would definitely go to Cousins with Mariota in second.

On the subject of Quarterback, do you think they followed all 32 starting QBs to weed it down to the 3 they wanted for the show? The success, the almost-success, and the failure?
I don’t think so, and I don’t know how they picked the three they followed.
I’m sure they have a spreadsheet that spits out the best combination for marketing purposes.
Mahomes appeals to the bandwagoners.
Mariota appeals to the Asian and Europeans due to being a Samoan/German.
Cousins appeals to all those who like toast.
They definitely knew who they were following beforehand based on the season-long access they had. With the way the Mariota storyline fell off mid-season, I’m guessing they would have picked another “Darkhorse QB” candidate. I’m guessing Kirk made the list due to his polarizing media/fan coverage over the years and Mahomes made it because…well…he’s Mahomes. They probably also figured his nut case wife would make for some good drama but may have gotten more than they bargained for with his brother, which is probably why he was only in a few brief clips throughout the show.
Every clip with her in it made me that much more happy I will never ever have anything to do with her.
Mahomes and his wife come off as completely self-absorbed, IMO.
They likely had some QB’s saying no.

I did a bit more research on it. It looks like authors get paid per page read at a half cent rate. So if you read like all 220 pages, I will make $1.10.
Does it track actual pages read or just pages in the book purchased?
I have been known to buy and return favorites several times as it doesn’t cost me anything extra and helps the author (I assume).
It looks like it is actual pages read. Here is the graph on my control page. We will have to see what it does as you start reading. It looks like it tracks all 8 of my books simultaneously, so it doesn’t care about individual titles…just pages readers are scrolling through…

I saw it about a week after it opened. It’s not as graphic as I was afraid it would be, but seeing the little kids sad faces and pedos walk up to them was plenty sad enough. There’s nothing political about it, tells the true story of a guy who rescues kids while pointing out how prolific the trafficking of kids is.

You should definitely see it. If he can give up everything and risk his life, and especially since the Dems are trying hard to suppress/discount it, we can at least support at box office.

I hadn’t been to a theater since Covid, but made it a point to go support this one.
Should add there is some violence, mostly between the bad guys and the guys trying to rescue the kids, but there is a scene or two where a kid gets hit, and the conditions some of the kids live in are horrendous, especially the jungle scenes.
i don’t think the makers of the movie made this movie to “clean-up”
i hope they use the money they make to further the protection of children from the pedos….
but i also view it as hopefully a sign that people are waking up to the disgusting things that are happening “behind closed doors” but more in our faces than we realize.
They may not have made it to clean up, but sure didn’t make it with the intent of losing money. But to your point, the hundreds of millions in profits they will end up with will go a long way in the studio producing more films and allow them better control on when they are released, this movie was filmed five years ago but Disney owned the rights and refused to release it.

We saw it this weekend and it will certainly stick with you. To have the courage to “leave it all behind” and do what needs to be done is amazing. I am so sad that the US is where MANY of these trafficked little ones wind up.

But I have two thoughts. First, I actually think the Vikings would be a better overall team next year if Kirk and JJ didn’t have quite as big a year numbers wise if we could getter more consistent production out of our running game.
And I think and nothing new here, if we played just a little better overall defense, we would overall have a better team.
Now, as t all the stats, Noticed Jimmy G way up there. Made me wonder how low (bad) could the 49ers roll with and get it done?
And then there’ Dallas. With their OL and defense, what could they roll with?
People that are able to accept the pros AND cons of Kirk instead of only acknowledge the superficial pros.
I would as well, we are not a balanced offense, having an average running game that is not boom or bust would help a lot. This is why I dont care about Kirks overall stats, you lose the forest through the trees when thats all you look at.
Obviously if any group on a team played better than the year before, the team would be better, that goes with out saying. We found that out about the 49ers last year, Shanny got to the NFCCG, so not sure what your point is. Dallas is basically Vikings south at this point, hype, done early in the play offs. Dak is basically Kirk in my eyes. They wont get to a bowl with him either.
Here’s how I see it after half a decade.
Kirk
Pros: Iron Man, game prep, arm strength, accuracy, system knowledge and play design, off field life.
Cons: Greedy (him and or his agent), taking up too much cap%, age, mental fortitude when things go off script or outside of the play design, game plan etc, ability to take over offense and read defenses and make calls on his own after being in the league for a decade +, brain farts, robotic superficial leadership, needing hand holding and people to hold him up.
The Pros get you a good regular season QB that can win you 8-10 games season, occasional play off appearances, season in and out depending on roster construction and coaching.
The Cons are things that are not going to change, and are what are going to ultimately hold him back from winning a SB. For any team, not just the Vikes. The intangibles, the things that dont show up in the stat sheet. Iv been saying this since the end of 2019 and its getting quite old repeating myself. Shit, half the crusaders wont even bother reading this because they are too stubborn. Thats okay. Ill be right in the long run.

No. Thats not important, none of those stats directly impacted the offense, or outcome of the game. Its a team game, no one player can change the outcome a significant ammount

Since posting meaningless personal stats to quietly prove a point to the haters ( which I have been labeled even thought I dont hate ANY of our players) is all the rage these days. Id like to post a stat that I feel is more important than trivial personal stats and ultimately how you judge an aging QBs value at the end of their career.
Here is the list of most play off appearances and play off wins of current active QBs. This list is a little wonky because it counts all QBs who played a snap in a play off game, even though they did not start the game. However, that does not affect the stat of who is at the bottom of this list, and why you really need to reconsider personal achievements over team achievements.
Yep, for sure, Marcus Mariota is a top 10 QB….I don’t understand why he got benched. Same with Minshew, @I will take him over Cousins any day@
You’re missing the point completely. I said the list is a little wonky with its format. Should Kirk be at the bottom? No, he has better stats than Keenum and Hoyer and Sudfield. But if you go off of play off appearances and wins hes 100% outside the top 10 more so in the 12-16 range (where he belongs). With Mayfield and Jones.

Every player on the field has impact on the outcome. That is my whole point, and you have somehow validated it now.
The QB has a bigger impact than any other player on the team. That’s why they are paid the most and should be held to higher standard.

Perhaps we’re looking at this bass-ackwards. Everyone keeps saying that a great QB will elevate the play of the team when they play other great teams.
Maybe Cousins is actually doing just that, only during the regular season. Defense is so bad that he is able to take the team on his back and win during the regular season, but post-season teams are so good that it takes a good defense in addition to a good QB to win in the post season.
Yep, Vikings will have some fun times in the regular season, but once everything gets whittled down to the big-boy teams, we simply don’t have the talent to compete. Same for a lot of teams, though. The pretenders are quickly gone once playoffs start.

Gonna re-watch the Vikes/Cowboys game from Moss’s rookie year. I’ve literally seen this game in its entirety well over 100 times – and it never gets old. Last night the wife and I watched the Vikes/49ers playoff game from 1987 – when Montana was benched and AC went off. It’s fun teaching/showing her about great teams and players from the past. I’m incredibly thankful to have her for all the reasons – but her willingness to be a student of the game and her excitement for it is awesome.

Kim never knew exactly what he was dealing with, with Trump. In terms of foreign policy, Trump was extremely adept at keeping other world leaders off balance.
When Trump is overtly complimenting or criticizing someone, he’s usually setting them up.

Real down to earth conversations.
