  • Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
  • Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
  • Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
  • All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. Am I crazy for not hating this idea? If it’s a one year deal to let a rookie develop and get the roster really how KAM wants it?

“Heading toward a bitter divorce with the Denver Broncos, Russell Wilson will make his next team very happy off the rebound — and it could be the Minnesota Vikings.

According to Spotrac, Wilson, who is expected to be cut by the Broncos ahead of free agency on March 13, has offset language in his contract that would reduce the $39 million in guarantees he is owed when he is cut by however much he earns from a new team in 2024. Denver cutting its losses with Wilson means his next team (unlikely to sign him to a deal north of $39 million) is likely to get a massive discount for the veteran minimum of $1.21 million for next season.

That would benefit the Vikings’ favorably, who have a $28.50 million bill to pay to Cousins whether he is on the roster or not in 2024.”

Had this conversation with NLNVF a few weeks ago.
How is the cap effected by Wilson?
Is it $28.5 from KC plus $39 from Wilson = $67.5 that the Vikings have to deal with?

I understand Cap does not equal real money but we still have to react to the effects.
We both read several articles on the possibility and none of them explained the Cap implications of the move for the Vikings.

Source?
We both looked and couldn’t find anything on it.

We found lots about the trade and implications for Denver, not so much about Cap Effect on Vikings. And much of what we did find contradicted other reports.

Let me summarise:

So if cut Wilson is able to sign wherever he would like.
He would still get paid $39 Large by Denver.

That means his signing would cost less for any new teams since his first $39M will be offset.

If he signs for say $50M, for example, then the new team would be on the hook for $11M for 2024 and any follow up years/guarantee/NTC he would want.

No report if Wilson is willing to sign a 1 year deal or pass on the guarantees or NTC (like he had in his last deal) for any additional years.

Conclusion:

If we could get him on the 1 year deal with a $39M discount I say sure. But that doesn’t seem likely that he would sign that since he is getting long in the tooth and probably had only one more big payday left.

And a trade (which Denver would much prefer) would be even more complicated. *See Brock Osweiler*

Depends on Structure I guess, 1st year cheap to deal with KCs Cap Hit and then additional years closer to market price.

But then it becomes a ‘long term deal’, and he had NTC and guaranteed money in Denver.

I forgot how much driving around you have to do with kids. My granddaughter is only six and she is new to the school district so I don’t have to take her to a job or any birthday parties yet, but it is starting. Last Saturday I had to take her to a play date. Tonight we are taking a 2.5 hour round trip to meet halfway with some of her mom’s family so they can have her for the weekend. On Sunday afternoon we have to make the same 2.5 round trip to pick her back up. Next Saturday one of her cousins on my side that is in her 20s wants to take her to the Children’s museum in Eau Claire, so I will be doing an hour round trip in the morning to drop her off and the same trip in the evening to pick her up. I think I’m going to have to get her a drivers license.

Oh, and VP, are you a tranny??

Handedness preference was assessed in 205 boys with gender identity disorder and 205 clinical control boys referred for other reasons. Boys with gender identity disorder were significantly more likely to be left-handed than the clinical control boys (19.5% vs. 8.3%, respectively). The boys with gender identity disorder, but not the clinical control boys, also had a significantly higher rate of left-handedness compared to three independent, general population studies of nonreferred boys (11.8%; N = 14,253) by Hardyck, Goldman, and Petrinovich (1975), Calnan and Richardson (1976), and Eaton, Chipperfield, Ritchot, and Kostiuk (1996). Left-handedness appears to be a behavioral marker of an underlying neurobiological process associated with gender identity disorder in boys.

It’s that time of the year. 39th annual pool tournament at my parents house. This even is always the weekend before the super bowl and has been happening longer than I have been alive. We kids and my mom weren’t allowed at the house in it’s hay day in the 90s, then when I was old enough to drive I was allowed to be there for a bit and drive into town to get more beer when the two kegs wasn’t enough for a 16 man tournament, to this year dad isn’t even buying a keg since they haven’t finished their kegs the last couple years. Now BYOB haha. In the last 5 years I have one it once and gotten 2nd twice. I always make my famous award winning cheese dip and am off my diet this weekend that’s for damn sure lol. Next year will be the last time I think they do this. I might have to take the reigns after that.

Good times. I grew up wanting a pool table. The week after I left home my parents bought one and put it in the basement. They were smart – got me to come back home virtually every weekend to play. Usually a pile of wood to split or some other chore my parents didn’t want to do before I could play. I’d happily do it and then spend hours playing pool. Getting even remotely good on a nice table can make you feel/look like a world class player on a bar table.

Back when I drank, I was a pretty good pool player. Played in league & all that, played in the state tournament, etc.

Weird thing with pool. You get better as you drink more, until you hit that certain point where you’ve drank too much, then you get really bad for a while, until you get REALLY drunk, then you get better again.

Same with darts. Playing league when I was stationed in Korea, we played against a team that was pretty good. To determine who throws first you “diddle for the middle” – 1 person from each team throws a single dart – whoever is closest to the center goes first.

We were hammered, but 3 games in a row the other team put one in the single bull, and I wobbled up and sunk the double bull.

What’s funny is I was terrible at pool because I took it for granted. When you grow up with shit you just kind of assume it’s something everyone has. When I was on the Rez my next door neighbor had a pool table and we’d play like at least every other Friday. Good good times! His house rules were odd. Slop was 100% OK, didn’t have to call anything but the 8 ball.

You don’t have to call things but obviously banks and combos and shit you should but I have been in the tourney and made a shot that looked like it could have been my plan and wasn’t and said, nope that wasn’t my plan.

Yeah if nothing else Costco has pork butts for $1.99 / lb right now and that should be a pretty decent fat ratio for sausage. Thinking I’ll do about 15 lbs of breakfast sausage and 15 lbs of brats to be ready for the summer. Might try to make some sausage links to. Normally I just bag breakfast sausage for browning when I make biscuits and gravy. While I’m at it I’m contemplating trying to make some bacon. A ten lb pork belly is like 3 bucks a lb at Costco. Split it in half and make 5 lbs peppered bacon, 5 lbs maple and then probably an apple smoke.

Absolutely. Getting fresh meat from local farmers is the best. Our local shop is charging $2.69 per lb for the pork and $4.29 per lb for the beef. Of course anything extra such as brats instead of sausage is more. I won’t have the total cost until they get it all done because it will depend on the weight of the pig or cow that they butcher. It is typically about $325 to $375 for a half hog with this sale and about $780 to $975 for a quarter beef. It is totally worth it. It is a 1,000 times better than Walmart “meat”.

My sister and her hubby raise a few beef cattle each year. We’ve bought a half from them the past 2 years – this year it was $1088 for the half a cow, and $400 for cutting/wrapping. (so right in line with what GF paid)

Looking forward to seeing what they have to offer once we complete the move.

If you get a whole cow, you better have a big freezer. We get a quarter and it last us a whole year. Of course we also get a half hog and we get venison during hunting season. I was a little concerned this year that we hadn’t cleaned out the freezer enough for our new purchase, however, when I checked the other day, I realized that some of the stuff in the freezer was just junk, like a big bag of ice that I can get rid of. Also we had a box of meat that our son brought that was supposed to go to grandma and grandpa. After that cleanup, it’s looking a bit sparse, so it is good timing for the new purchase.

You know of anyone who wants to buy a place in Fessenden? I can get you a smokin’ deal on a property that’ll need some work. It has a detached 2-stall, really nice-sized garage. The roof on the house is shot, led to interior damage, mold in the basement. I’ll do the mold remdiation & remove any damage, but it’ll be sold as-is with no repairs done.

If it were closer to Bismarck, I’d buy it & either fix it & sell it, or keep it as a rental. I’m not sure what the rental demand is in Fessenden.

House was forelosed upon by the state. It’s currently owned by the state. It’s not listed yet, but it will be, and we’ll be the ones listing it.

It’s in shit shape. The roof is shot, and the sheeting underneath it will need to be replaced. This was leaking for a year or two, so there’s lots of damage.

That said, a guy could probably buy it for maybe $10k or $20k, I’m not sure on that, as the state has to give us the list price, but that’s where we’ll advise them to list it & they’ve listened to us every time so far.

I’m just guessing, but I’d think there are maybe 1,300 sq. ft. on the main, with another 500 or so upstairs (2 bedrooms) and another 1,000 or so in the basement.

Just a pure guesstimate on repair costs would be $30k – $45k. After repairs, you may be sitting on a $75k or $100k property. There’s definitely a margin there.

If it were closer to Bismarck, I’d do it.

I use Quickbooks for my bookstore since I want just a basic accounting software. They are really pushing the cloud version. I’m sure one reason is that they can charge you every year. In the past I have just bought the software and then upgrade when I absolutely have to, which last time was about 9 years.

they changed that on the desktop version as well, and you now need to update each year.
Maybe that is only if you have payroll assist (and I did).

Tried to convert to the cloud version, and about 1/4 of the way through realized that since the database schema’s are completely different, I would need to manually re enter everything.
Rolled back the conversion, and stuck with desktop for 6 more years.

The Raiders had an excellent game plan…mostly run right at Alan Page.
Page was a dude, but his game was quickness and speed, but he was undersized….The Raiders figured the best way to neutralize him was to run right at him, which they did over and over and over again.

They averaged 5.1 yards per carry…it was never really a game.

To be perfectly honest, while I really want the Vikings to win a Super Bowl, I’m afraid the 2 weeks that lead up to the game will be absolute misery because I will be just terrified that they will embarrass themselves for a 5th time.

90 million for 2 years does seem like market value…don’t think they want to pay that though…

If only I could get my market value up to 2 years 90 million. Unfortunately my market value is about 1 week, 50 cents. I am really going to have to work on that.

Kirk at market value doesn’t get the job done in MN. It may be Kirk, may be on the coaches, may be on some hamster on a piano… whatever it is… it hasn’t worked. 1 Playoff win. 1. Time to try something else. If that’s Kirk at team friendly deal then hell yeah.

The Vikings and Kirk are stuck in 2018.

The Vikings are no longer a team on the cusp, and Kirk is no longer the QB who just didn’t have the right situation.

It’s over. Bring out Grizabella to sing “Memory…”

bitching and complaining.

I saw Walgreens was closing a store in a Boston neighborhood due to rampant theft that no one will do anything about.

Instead of addressing the problem of crime, the Squad hells racism…dumbacrats are just soooo dumb – hence the name.

Wouldn’t that be glorious? I might go on a two day bender AFTER the Superbowl. I will be in a great mood.

I learned from a Bears friend of mine. The last time the Bears were in the super bowl he got so drunk he didn’t even remember watching the game…of course he recorded it and watched it later, but its not quite the same.

Ben. I don’t really know how to do this but perhaps you can – regarding the 2 year 45 million stuff from Pioneer Press you mention above.
There was a an article over at SI for last couple of days that debunks ascertations of the original article.
Perhaps you can post that so as to let everyone get a picture of what was actually said and the real truth.

You’re the boss – usually think it’ better to let people read both sides and make up their own minds.
don’t know much about the Pioneer Press – never read it – but the journalism there reminds me some of the editorials of the WashPost. “Buzz” has a familiar ring as ‘anonymous source.’

Well, you or NLNVF could just ask Kirk what he wants and let us know.

Either way, that seems like Market Value. Vikings will do what they do.
Find a way to mess it up again.

Believe NLV knows what Kwesi will do. As to me, there are folks here I would share things with, but on the other hand there are some – well I don’t quite know what the word to use – here wouldn’t care or believe if St Peter came here and passed something along.
So, screw it, let folks believe what fills their narrative.

I understand.
I complain a ton, but Kirk is a great guy by all accounts, and the best QB on the roster by far.
I still feel it is time to move on.
whatever they do, I am sure it will not end well in 2024.

Already looking past that.

I will argue anything you want on most any subject but not football as that seems to simply collapse into just one subject. Couldn’t believe what happened yesterday following up on Ben’s question on paying JJ 32.5 million. Got one answer- thank you NDV – and the rest was the usual shit show about one player.

Most of the guys (and Kathy) on here are good people, but even good people can have their triggers that turn them into a massive pile of bad smelling stuff. I’ve been down the dark path a time or two. This Kirk trigger however, is getting very old.

Well, I think an extension for Darrisaw will soon be needed…
He is widely acknowledged as one of the top tackles in the league.

His appropriate salary number will be hard to calculate because…….
Did Kirk make Darrisaw or did Darrisaw make Kirk???

I’m looking at a few new areas to try for elk this year. I’ve kind of zeroed in on one but I’ve never even camped there so I have zero knowledge of the place. Kind of exciting and I’m looking forward to exploring some new country. Can’t get any worse than the last couple of years I’ve had hunting.
