Hey there! Yes, we’re doing well. Youngest grand’s BD is this Sat., and daughter has a cold, is crazy busy, and hasn’t had time to do her usual research, so kind of shooting in the dark. We just picked up a few things, hopefully she doesn’t already have them.
How’s the new crib? Living with sis, right?
Right, we still love the new place. It’s perfect for us, lots of room to have some privacy. Taking a break until at least spring from doing anything else in the house.
Still disappointed we’re stuck with being responsible for the landscaping. Didn’t see that coming. If anyone who ever lived in this unit replaces any of the original landscaping, which did happen here, even the new owners forever have to be responsible for it. We paid someone to replace some of the weather damaged stuff last fall.

We ARE in a community HOA Association, that’s why we didn’t see it coming. They do some things, such as water and cut the grass, and they trim the shrubs. They’re always saying they don’t have any money and finding ways to not have to do the stuff they should be doing.
I’m in a association, they should be legally obligated. Tell them monthly dues will fall short for you to compensate for maintenance.
Yes, and the condos both sis and I were in previously did take care of all the landscaping, but the Board here voted to disqualify anyone who replaced the original landscaping, which passes to anyone else who buys that unit. We had no idea we would be stuck with it forever.
BTW, a neighbor who did still have the original landscaping asked them to replace the weather damaged stuff in their unit. They looked up their unit, and said, yes, you do qualify, so we’ll put you on the list and try to get to you in 3 years.
FYI, this is a really beautiful patio home community, cheapest unit is $400,000 going up to about $700,000, but there aren’t that many units, which is why they don’t have enough money.

If I pass on the QBs at the top of the mock drafts and focus on fixing the Defense I usually end up going Stephan Rittler or Joe Milton at the end of the draft. Maybe a Brock Purdy type situation.
Both have the skills it is more a question of what’s between their ears.
They both suck ass and had to transfer because they were benched, Rattler because he’s an asshole, and Milton because he’s horrible, pass.

this Biden Trump discussion reminds me some of David McCullough’s John Adams book and history.
Until recently Thomas Jefferson was held in. highest regards for the Declaration and his lofty words of freedom and equality for all, etc. Yet, in private life he was very aloof and ran his plantation like royalty.
Adams on the other hand, was prickly, argumentative and could be a bit mean spirited to people who disagreed with him. Yet privately, he was very common, loved by his friends and neighbors, came across extremely thoughtful.

I just learned CPR for about the 25th time if anyone feels a heart attack coming on.
Has it changed much over the years?
It seems like it is different every year. Yet, the pattern of downgrading breaths appears to continue.
This guy said don’t worry about breaths. A person can do 30 compressions to two breaths, if you want, but keeping the chest compressions going is more important. He didn’t even have us practice the breaths. A couple co-workers are EMTs and they said they don’t worry much about breaths either. Supposedly, there is a lot of oxygen in the blood if you keep it moving.
One time I even heard a teacher say they were talking about going to 100 compressions per two breaths.
Perhaps, MT can give a consensus on where the current standard lies.
I can see where the breath’s aren’t that critical.
When you give a breath, it’s CO2, whereas the compressions might be bringing in a little oxygen, as the person brings in air on their own.
the breaths honestly don’t matter, it’s getting that oxygen to the brain when pumping the chest is what keeps someone alive.
unfortunately we have had to perform a few cpr’s on mechanics in my shop and it’s one of the scariest things you ever have been a part of.
If they don’t matter why are they part of the procedure to save one’s life?

Oh wow, that is AMAZING! I can only recall a couple of times people survived asystole, and those were inpatient encounters.
No battery involved.
One thing that gets overlooked, as you continue doing compressions you get more and more exhausted and out of breath yourself, making it more difficult to even do the breaths. Also, I highly recommend you carry a barrier with you, I have a one way valve shield attached to my keychain. This has nothing to do with germs, it is common for a person who requires CPR to involuntarily vomit during the procedure and if its during the breaths you’re going to end up with a mouthful.
Gotta have at least 2 or 3 people and take turns. We have an AED at work as well that will tell you if you aren’t pressing hard enough and gives you a metronome to help keep a sufficient pace.
I don’t need a metronome, for pace you just give compressions to the beat of Another One Bites The Dust.

I was a CPR/1st Aid instructor for several years, I used to learn it once a month. It got so boring, but I can say that I trained someone who had never been trained before and saved a person’s life a few days later using the Heimlich maneuver.

Trump even called out Hillary on the taxes thing and said maybe it should be changed then. He admitted to paying as little in taxes as possible, but within the law. That is not the same as Hunter selling access to Joe and also not paying taxes at all, you know one of the things he’s in court for.

I had several of these types of phone call in the last year.
“Put it in writing and I will have my lawyer look into it” ends the shit.
Story is true – people get scammed all the time. $50 grand is a lot but most all banks can handle fairly easily, although they could delay the transaction for 24 hours.
Interesting about this, a 5o grand cash withdrawl would immediately get reported to FINCEN who would investigate it.
A financial advice columnist can get scammed out of $50 grand? I don’t like it…I’m gonna set my AI to keep me informed on how this story plays out.
Would be like a medical advice columnist admitting they got swindled out of 50 grand on sugar pills masquerading as a cancer cure.
Actually some of the easiest people to scam, from what I have read, is professional type people. Not always, but show them a bunch of numbers that add up correctly (even though the numbers are BS) and they get intrigued and sort of hooked.

Well, at work, we move hundreds of thousands of dollars, so any bank has the $50,000 on hand.
I’m always shocked when someone falls for this stuff.
Back when my daughter was in ICU a year and half ago, I got a call from the local area we were at. Didn’t know who it was but I answered it given the number of doctors we had seen. Turned out it was a “local police” department telling me a warrant was issued to arrest my other daughter, who was sitting right next to me. I asked her did you commit a crime while the “police” was on the line. She said no. Duh.
The “police” were adamant that she needed to be arrested. I told them to come and get her, and hung up. After that, the phone rang non stop for the next 3 hours.
I guess some people just get sucked up into the call and lose common sense.
Seems a little fake to me.
My employer got that call about me…the gal that took the call was pretty shook with the guy saying “Dr. MT needs to call us right away or we will have to come down there and arrest him in full view of everyone”. Of course the caller knew the typical publicly available things about me like where I trained what my board ID is etc. I did call the sheriff’s office and the gal that answered the phone almost gave an audible “smirk” at the notion that such a call would ever come from them. When they called back the call was just routed over to legal.
One of several reasons I don’t answer my phone unless caller ID tells me it’s someone I know.
Even for donations to causes I support, Stopping Child Abuse, Support for Police/Military, etc. I always ask “what percentage of my donation goes to the cause?”.
Legally they have to answer and the answer is usually ‘12% which is industry average”.
Meaning 88c out of every $1 I donate would got to the people making the phone call. I decline saying ‘I will find a more efficient way to donate’.

I never answer unless I know who is calling me.
