I know my initial reaction to the Vikings losing to the Rams was to pretty much give up on the team.
I have since changed my stance, mostly due to my wife saying, you say that every year. I am actually excited to see what the FO does in free agency, and the limited draft picks we have this year.
I am expecting a spending spree early in free agency, I don’t believe we will be waiting to sign the mid to lower tier players. I think we will be signing some of the best FAs.

I think Minnesota is a place where players are starting to want to come to, to play for our coaches.
Let’s hope so because there are a few other guard needy teams that have a lot of cap space also this year.
They need to pull some moves to restock the draft pick cupboard & build the O line that way, FA O linemen are one of the most expensive positional groups.
Yup, they’ll probably get one comp pick for sure and a trade back or two will net a few more. I think they’ll get 6 picks out of this draft. Problem is, Kwesi not so good at drafting so we’ll see.

I’m getting a lot of Nazi fatigue out there. It seems people are tired of the hyperbole. Being called a Nazi or racist just doesn’t mean much anymore. They played it out.

It also came with a butt plug keychain, and a calendar with poop jokes. I discreetly gave the keychain back to the broker’s daughter so she could sneakily put it on her mom’s keys. I gave the poop joke calendar to my son.

Pick ‘Em League Update
I have been horrendously busy and haven’t been able to keep track of where I am in Pick ‘Em League. Such is the life one leads as a man in demand by ladies everywhere. You’d be surprised how many of them need things reached off high shelves. Everyone is equal until the punch bowl is out of reach…
Surly came in first last week, and he actually did it by a pretty wide margin when you consider there was only four games to pick…and he forgot one! That is kind of impressive.
How are things looking overall as the season winds down into the remaining winter of our discontent?
It’s looking like Little Fishin’, Freezy and Bow are going to be in the cellar. You can’t fully blame their picking acumen, though. They missed a week or two. If we average things out, they should all probably have about 100 more points, which would put them right in the think of the a good chunk of the rest of us.
JacksonVike is likely stuck in position 8. He is simply playing for pride right now. Truly, he is from the Never Quit generation.
Theoretically, things could still change among DE, Surly and Me. We are not that far apart and a 16-point game pick could swing things.
Likewise, I’d rather be fishing and Kirk is NOT still good could also jostle a bit. There are only five points separating them.
Bleeding Purple ‘N Gold would really have to flame out to lose to NoDakRube, but it could happen. It is like at the end of the season when a team could make the playoffs is two teams lose, another two win and a butterfly flaps its wings in South America.
We had one Genuis Pick last week. Jacksonvike was the only one to get Washington over Detroit. We had two Iconoclast Picks. JacksonVike and I’d rather be fishing picked Baltimore over Buffalo.

I really hoped the Rams would beat the Eagles. Those Eagles man…with their running game and Tush Push, they are basically a four-down team. Getting them in a 4th and 2 doesn’t mean much. And then there is the Chiefs. I am tired of them, too. If the Bills can’t take them this year, Josh Allen should just retire and raise giant pumpkins. Football is not for him.

Nah, just took our carry ons at the gate after I paid like 75 bucks per person extra for carry ons. When I asked if I was going to get my money back, their response was “not my problem, get on the plane.” I have never had a good experience with United. I guess on a positive, this was the first time I’ve flown United and didn’t have a flight delayed so there’s that.
If I can travel with just my big back pack thats what I usually do, no checked bags, no extra carry ons. Regardless of airline have not had issues. I will keep pushing it until they make me pay.
They forced us to check anything bigger than my laptop case.
Gonna get one more cup of coffee in me and go on a war path.
The review Uhaul got from me a couple of years ago that led to corporate calling me is going to look like child’s play.

Fort Lauderdale. We checked 2 of our 4 carry ons on the way there but that was by choice and only for the second of our two flights. Luckily our baggage did make it so I had warm clothes to put on to get to my pickup when we got home, but it really pisses me off when I pay for a service and don’t receive it. I will never give United another penny. I’ve got a refund request in, but that doesn’t change what they did. Totally ridiculous. I think I’ve decided that I’ll give them another shot if they give me 4 first class tickets to Alaska. Otherwise I hope they burn.
Small plane with limited overhead space??
Wasn’t that small (40 or so rows 6 wide), but old so the overhead storage didn’t allow for roller bags to be put on their sides. I get that, but that’s not my problem. They offered me the option to pay extra for a carry on bag and I was not provided that luxury. If there isn’t going to be room, they need to figure that out ahead of time and not get you to pay for something they can’t provide. To their credit, this was the first time I’ve ever flown United and not had my flight delayed, so I guess there is that. No TVs on the first of our 2 flights, Wifi costs 10 bucks. Delta’s planes are way nicer, TVs, free wifi and you get what you pay for. Plus, I’ve never had a Delta flight delayed that I can recall.
I will say the few times iv had delays/cancelations etc. it was also United. Delta has been non issue, same with American Airlines…minus them having a bad tire repair when I flew to Nashville but they found me another flight that I got to a few hours later so it worked out.

I was ready to burn the plane down yesterday. I’m sure I can get some sort of credit from them which is totally worthless because I will never set foot on a United Airplane again. I would rather ride a pedal bike across the midwest in January than give them another penny. I’ve never had a good experience with them and yesterday was the final straw.

That’s what makes it worse. We flew Delta on the way to Florida and it made it even more glaring how inept United is when we had to fly United on the way home. I posted it below, but they made us check all of our bags after forcing me to pay extra for the luxury of having a carry on. There’s 300 or more dollars I don’t get back. Paid for a service and then was told, too bad so sad. I’d rather fly Gremlin Air.

I remember the 9ers and Pastries dynasties coming with their not-so-serious division opponents. Every season those guys had their playoff tickets punched and a home playoff game guaranteed (not to mention 6 cupcake regular season games) because their division foes were jokes. Go ahead and guarantee the playoffs to a division winner but a home field game is a bridge too far for me. If a division winner wants a home game in the playoffs…win more regular season games.
This is America, everyone is entitled to their own wrong opinion.
One could say the Pukers and us would have won (or at least be more competitive in our case) if the games were at Lameblow and the Bank, respectively.

Lots of snow. About 6 inches in my area. The whole Gulf Coast is shut down. I’ve lived here for 34 years, this is by far the most snow I have ever seen in this area (Northwest Florida Panhandle). The old timers say they had a similar event back in 1973. The kids are loving it. Snow Days from school. Sledding down the hills and streets. It is pretty cool.
Enjoy, pretty cool… live in SW MT and my 3 oldest kids over 16 yrs never had a snow day. Admittingly, there were a dozen or so days that I thought somebody was trying to prove they had big sack, or they didn’t want to make the day up in June.
Not many snow days up here. Pretty much have to be buried for them to shut things down.
Just talked to my Daughter about snow days.
She has lived in Houston and now South Carolina for almost 15 years now.
She said she could not take those -80 degree days walking to school in Bismarck any more.
LOL, and that’s about how it is. I lived in a town of 900 people. The only people who got out of school on the really bad days where the farm kids who had to ride the bus. The rest of us all walked right back to school, so we didn’t get out of anything.
My son, who is still there, said the Principal said ‘If I can get to school, you can get to school’.
He said that Principal has a big 4X4 pickup.

Childress was the only coach tenure we got right, IMO, for the timeframe. Team steadily improved under him. Got to the conference championship. He showed warts. Gone.

My counter to that is the teams that have historically been good and went to Super Bowls were patient and didn’t pull the plug quickly.
I can see that and don’t think it is wrong.
I kind of want to take a hammer to some paradigms in the NFL just for fun and see what would happen.
For example, offenses and defenses have become so specialized, that I am not even sure a head coach is needed anymore.
Rather, GM should be people who are traditionally head coaches and build the team from above.
Offensive and defensive coaches are the ones who make all the on-the-field decisions on game day.
Somebody has to be in charge of the in game decisions though. Clock management, etc.
Half the coaches can’t manage the clock anyway!
Well, yeah. That’s why you need to do a good job hiring. I think there are times when a coach should have a short leash, but simply saying you have to win a playoff game and be in the championship game or you’re done is excessive. Look at the Vikings. Did you really expect anything from them with the QB situation the last couple years? I’d say that KOC has exceeded expectations.
Yeah, there is always a gray area. QB situation definitely makes things tricky for KOC.

This is why I voted against the legalization of Pot. It really affects your judgement and logic.

I actually think Kirk did not hurt the team as much as his contracts did. Was he worth what he got paid, probably not. If you are going to hamstring a team with your contract, you need to be able to put the team on your shoulders.
This is what pretty much all the sane detractors have been saying. His play didnt hurt the team but it didnt help it elevate it either so thats a net natural. His contract did however hurt the team and made roster building a giant pain in the ass, on top of the no trade clauses preventing the Vikings from getting picks from him while he still had “value” so thats a net negative. Its that simple. Yet people play devils advocate and try and pluck it apart and justify it and its just a murky worthless argument.
That has been my main point since the end of the 2018 season.
Kirk is an above average QB(sometimes a very good QB), and paying him top 3 to top 10 money never made sense. Kept the team from building a better roster. His agent, I will hate forever.
Exactly. You have to be good enough to overcome the limitations. Your contract will create. He just wasn’t good enough. Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen are good enough to do that, and that’s about it.
