Vikings @ Seahawks Discussion
It was another nail-biter win by the Vikings yesterday, as they did JUST enough to get a W against the Seahawks in Seattle for the first time since 2006. Any road win against a (likely) playoff team is a big win, so even though the team had some struggles and found weaknesses to address, they still got the W and the Minnesota Vikings are now 13-2 and control their own destiny in earning the #1 seed in the NFC and a first-round bye. This has been a fun, albeit stressful, season. The Vikings tend to allow opposing teams to stay in games, but in the end, they usually find a way to put them away. If you can survive the heart attack, the eventual win is worth it.
Vikings Defense
The Vikings started strong on both sides of the ball. The offense got a touchdown on the opening drive, then the defense followed that by forcing a 3-and-out. The Seahawks discovered a way to dink and dunk our defense to death for most of the rest of the game, and seemed to move the ball down the field with ease for much of the game. The defense finally found a way to stimy the Seahawks offense on the last couple drives of the game, and eventually forced Geno Smith into a mistake which turned into an interception by Theo Jackson, who was filling in for the injured Harrison Smith. We’re not accustomed to seeing the defense getting run over like they did yesterday, and I didn’t expect Geno Smith and the Seahawks to put up the numbers they put up. However, as we Vikings fans know all too well, stats don’t mean jack, wins mean everything.
Vikings Offense
The offense looked pretty solid in the first half. With a couple minutes remaining in the first half, the Vikings were up 17-7 with a chance to add to the lead and possibly go into the half up 24-7. That didn’t happen. For some reason, we threw three passes, went 3 and out, ran minimal time off the clock, and gave the Seahawks the ball, and they scored a touchdown of their own, and the score at the half was 17-14. The offense then did next to nothing for most of the second half. The Vikings only added one field goal, while the Seahawks continued adding points, and the Seahawks took their first lead toward the end of the 4th quarter. The Vikings offense then decided to wake from their slumber, and a gutsy beauty from Darnold to Justin Jefferson gave them a touchdown to put them up 27-24. That’s all they needed and the Vikings won the game 27-24.
Darnold had a great game, he threw no interceptions even though the Seahawks defense terrorized him most of the day. Justin Jefferson also showed up big yesterday, but he always does, so that’s a given. If the offense hadn’t gone stagnant for most of the second half, their stats would look much more impressive. However, they did go stagnant for most of the second half, and they seem to have long lulls like that fairly often. If they could figure out how to put together four complete quarters of football, they’d be scary.
In the end, the Vikings got a HUGE road win. They’re 13-2 and are in control of winning the NFC North and obtaining the #1 seed in the NFC, along with a first-round bye. This is a fun year, man. There have been many years where we’re discussing the upcoming draft in week 16 and discussing why we should have hope for next year. I’m gonna enjoy this season, this team has as legit of a shot as any team to go all the way.

Should we go for 200 comments today?
Might as well.
Packers in the playoffs, UGH. Can the Vikings please beat these guys again.
After we beat them on Sunday someone else can have a go.
Maybe the Loins or Poopeaters in the playoffs.
Take a look at the box score for the Saints. Barely heard of any of those guys. Packers got to play a C team tonight.
14-0 FTP
Half way thru the 2nd qtr.
Can’t watch it but thought I should check in now and again.
Well the good news is that they *aints suck.
The bad news is that FTP got a free BJ on MNF.
34-0.
FTP
Truer words were never spoken.
Glad I was out of town today, got to miss J-Ro42s trash takes. SKOL TO THE BOWL BABY!
Headed to my 4th Ship in 5 years…
won the previous 3….
Im in the chip in 1 league and will be headed to the chip in two others.
Nice….. this is year 20 of this league. Much like the Vikes I was believed to be in a rebuilding year. Traded Jets for a boatload of picks. Traded Josh Allen for the same & Achane & Hock. Drafted Daniels, Rome & Bowers. Also Jonathan Brooks in the early 2nd round 😭.
I’ve got multiple 1st and 2nds the next 2 years (including a top 3 pick next year)
Including this week’s win I am 101-29 in this league since we went to Dynasty. Back to back to back titles, lost in the 2nd round last year and fighting for the ship this year.
My league mates hate me.
Especially Todd.
Lol Fuck Todd in particular. Thats funny!
If Jacobs has an average or worse game, I’m headed to the chip in my league as week.
*tears acl*
one of the funniest parts of this video is the seahawks…..ball boy? or like idk, whoever they were, next to the endzone, he’s seen swearing as JJ does his dance, super funny
Current coach is the only Vikings coach to have two 13 win seasons. He is in his third year. That is impressive.
Not sure if it is as impressive of the 12 , 12, 11 win seasons by Bud when there were only 14 games, but either way, guy can coach.
Ziggy need to back up the Brinks truck and give KOC a contract he deserves…which is north of 10 mill a year.
I am perfectly fine with that.
Especially since it is not my money and it won’t effect the salary cap in any way.
12-2 is definitely better than 13-4 or 14-3.
Wilfs and Kwesi need to pay the man.
Vikings-Packers game flexed to 3:25 pm kickoff time.
Wow.
I thought they had to do that a week ahead.
Me to.
But it is posted on the Viking website so it is legit.
Vikings app is what notified me.
They have until Tues AM to change the time
Fans be damned I guess.
You can’t make many plans around a game. You just have to bend over and accept it.
Well they have the financial stake so they (owners and therefore the NFL) so they get to make the call I guess.
Yes fans support them and ultimately provide the money but the money is indirect and some fans might object, but others are fine with it or even want it.
Yep. TV revenue is way more important than the customers that attend games.
Well not ideal but not terrible.
Sam has shown that he can play well and win Sunday afternoons.
Think they have the most flexibility with a Sunday game, like from 1 till 4.
NFL Makes Surprising Move By Flexing Cowboys-Eagles to Less Attractive Time
Some people still think the Cowboys are America’s team…..
Thought that they were South America’s Team.
Hard to keep track.
I just had my yearly physical.
The nurses are still weeping…
Pretty sad results?
Or just the drama of having to look at you? (response I normally get)
Oh, they looked all right…
is weeping better than laughing at you?
Someone down below said Darnold holds the ball forever, which I agree with.
His average time to throw is 3.08 seconds, third worst in the league behind Hurts and Jackson at 3.13.
But hey, it is working for him so don’t mess with it.
He also has the 4th highest air yards per completion, so certainly completing deeper passes which take longer.
Yea, run shorter routes and he doesn’t have to hold it as long. Me, prefer what we are doing and will accept the downside. No free lunch.
Kind of falls under that old Axiom that I learned in the Army.
‘If it is stupid but it works it is not stupid’.
I have complained about that all season. I feel I am nitpicking since he is playing so well. It could also be the route tree on the play call. It just seems like it takes forever sometimes. I am yelling “throw the damned ball” after two second. My internal clock works, @what the hell is wrong with his?@
Have not heard here about FJB commuting all the Federal Death Row Inmate Sentences to Life.
Personally I am Pro Life so I am ok with it. Don’t understand being Pro Life and Pro Death Sentence.
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-commutes-sentences-37-federal-death-row-inmates-final-month-presidency
Heard he wasn’t going to pardon Hunter, any news on that?
That would be almost as bad a pardoning the Cash for Kids Pa Judge that sentenced kids to a ‘detention center’ for kickbacks.
https://www.the-independent.com/news/world/americas/us-politics/biden-clemency-kids-for-cash-judge-pardon-b2664303.html
Not promoting anyone but FJB has to go down as the biggest POS president ever.
‘FJB has to go down as the biggest POS president ever’
No argument from me.
I see for 1st time we are spending on Debt Interest than Defense. Hey Ukraine, need anything? FJB.
And has been a lying mean spirited person his entire adult like as a politician.
I’m Pro Life but also a hypocrite as I make exceptions for those on death row. I’m even OK with the families of their loved ones that were killed being able to kill the criminal in any manner of their choice.
i don’t think it’s hypocritical to agree with the death penalty, while being pro-life.
Me neither, I am Pro-Life and Pro-Justice…and sometimes Justice means the death penalty.
God gives government the sword for a reason in Romans 13.
Sure,
War can be defensive or, in the case of the Slaves in the Civil War or the Jews in WWII, ‘in the defense of others’.
Exactly. The death penalty is punishment. Usually it’s because life was taken (murder). The death penalty thus helps uphold the sanctity of life.
I get the logic of it.
And I do not have any kind of sympathy for the A-Holes.
But there are limited reasons for killing someone I was taught, revenge, deterrence, ‘justice’ is not among them.
More of a moral dilemma for me. I respect the opinion of people who disagree, heck I mostly agree with them.
Disagree, Justice is certainly one reason.
But this America and we are each entitled to our own wrong opinions.
‘Justice’ is too nebulas a concept.
A lot like ‘disinformation’ is.
FJB Admin decides on what ‘Justice’ is for Trump.
Don’t think people know how much scum is walking our streets.
Isn’t the death penalty sort of revenge and deterrence.
It has elements of those sure.
That is why I said that those are not among reasons I was taught (by the Catholic Church) to kill someone.
I was ‘taught’ too and like forgiving, I at times have my problems with living up to what I was taught.
Don’t even get me started on these mass murderer types.
Agreed,
I struggle with this often.
It is a moral thing, I can’t stand the pieces of shit, just don’t believe that makes it ok to kill them, as much as I would like to.
This is probably complete rationalization – might be better to kill them than lock them up for life.
Better for whom?
Cheaper is even debatable given the cost of constant motions and lawsuits filed by inmates.
Kinda harsh statement about FTP fans….
I have met some decent humans that are FTP fans.
Just like i have met decent humans that vote democrat.
I just figure that their logic is broken.
i am with you SoCal. i am torn, and I see both sides
We do the best with what we know.
The most we can ask of ourselves I believe.
There are rational arguments that allow one to hold a pro life stand while simultaneously believing the death penalty to be licit. I am not saying they are strong arguments.
I vacillate between no DP and seeing DP as acceptable, certainly not pro DP
As a practical matter I see (and agree) with most DP arguments.
It is not perfect and not applied equally.
Plus it does not align with my moral compass.
Therefore as a Moral matter I cannot support it.
THAT is a valid position to have….not that you need my persmission.
That you believe it is a valid position does not give me permission.
It tells me that I have articulated my position well enough that reasonable people can understand it.
They might not agree with it (which is fine) but they can understand it.
Zactly
My problem with my position is, as a practicing Christian (although poorly), I do not think Jesus would be in favor of the Death penalty….
If he was the one deciding who deserved it I would probably agree with you.
There are some serious hideous, bad people in this world. Is there a heaven/hell? What happens to the soul? Do you go in front of a panel of judges? I go and they say, sorry Chief but you said to many effenheimer’s. Your out.
“All have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God”
There is not a one of us who deserves a trip to paradise.
Jesus is God and he is the Word. Lots of death penalty in the OT laws God gave to Israel. Again, the death penalty upholds the sanctity of life by punishing severely those who have little to no regard for it.
‘Lots of death penalty in the OT laws ‘
Yup.
And they used it for such things as Adultery.
Doesn’t make it right, we have evolved since the OT.
Sacking and raping of cities used to be the norm as well, not anymore.
Raping wasn’t a law God gave. It’s evil.
Sacking cities in Canaan was to give the land promised to the people through whom the Savior of the world would come. By giving the Israelites that command, God was essentially judging the pagan Canaanites ahead of the “usual time” (after death). Even still, he offered mercy to those who believed in him (see: Rahab).
I disagree that we have evolved. I think mankind is getting dumber and the world more sinful. Always been bad though.
Well, shit, I was going to be horde that was going to Sack and rape Winnipeg…
“For the Horde!”
Pro Life is being against ending the life of someone innocent before they are born.
Death sentence is to remove the dregs of humanity that do not deserve a chance at rehabilitation because the crime they committed is that terrible.
While I am pro life and generally do not approve of a death sentence, there are circumstances for both abortion and the death penalty that I would readily approve of. Thankfully, I do not need to make any of those decisions.
Now I need to flag myself for Politics and Religion.
‘Now I need to flag myself for Politics and Religion’
We are discussing current events.
Plus the only rule is ‘Be Cool To Each Other’.
The rest are guidelines.
Aints vs pukes. How do you cheer for that?
I am on Team Meteor.
saints all day
I almost had to cheer for the Packers for my fantasy team but luckily I already won and don’t have to throw up and cheer for Love and the Packers defense tonight. Load off my mind. This game doesn’t matter ultimately as long as the Vikings keep taking care of business.
something i do not like to see:
Darnold has been sacked 45 times in comparison to Josh Allen (14) and Jordan Love (11)(i understand he missed a couple games, but 11 sacks in 12 games is still a good number)
i believe and trust this issue will be handled in the offseason…NEED BETTER IOL and nasty ones too
45? That bad?
it’s not worst in the league…
it’s 3rd worst.
How many years has the IOL been a problem? So ‘now’ we plan on fixing it.
i think now that they will have the money to fix it….they will…
at least i’m HOPING
How many years now have we been asking for this?
I think that is only one part of the problem.
Darnold hangs on to the ball way too long.
He thinks he has 5 seconds to throw it.
you are not wrong…
he also does that weird spin out that doesn’t work WELL everytime.
we just need a better oline please and thank you
Likes to roll out left, Bugs me.
And then he tries to escape backwards instead of moving into the pocket where he might have another half second or at least not turn a 7 yard sack into a 12 yard sack.
45?
Yikes…
Plus, he has probably dodged that many as well with his mobility.
Yes, we’ve only needed better IOL for about 12 years…. Maybe this year we’ll get it? Haha.
Wild
Wolves
Suck.
Van Ginkel has 10 sacks on the year. A LINEBACKER!
NFCS is pathetic. The idea we may have to travel there boggles my mind.
Yeah, it’s kinda messed up, but I agree that you have to reward a division winner. So…let’s just win out and stay home!
Reward them with a playoff spot sure.
Not sure why they needed to be ‘rewarded’ a higher seed/home game over a team with a better record.
Merry Monday Skolbros!
13-2.
WOW.
A few thoughts:
Run game looked good early and they inexplicably went away from it. Not sure why.
Sammy’s pocket mobility and awareness is fun to watch. Several close-calls in the pocket yesterday that would’ve been sacks in recent years. His ability to throw on the run is underrated IMO.
He’s also tough – I mean TUFF. Got that ankle rolled up and fired the game-winner to Jets on a beautiful toss.
I think it’s time to stop being surprised by Sam Darnold and to start being impressed with Sam Darnold. We’re seeing what made him a top 5 pick.
Dallas Turner starting to come along….. I feel like he’ll make a real impact come playoff time.
Greenard’s motor is relentless. Glad he’s on our team.
VAN GINK! SAAAAAAAACK!
KOC is a GD quarterback-whispering genius to do what he’s done with Sam Darnold. Be hard pressed to find a better value than the $10 milly we dropped on Sam for the year.
Meanwhile ATL has paid a former Vikes QB $90 million for 14 starts. Yikes.
Bullet dodged.
WE CONTROL OUR OWN DESTINY
SKOL!!!
⚒️🔨⚒️🔨
And yet some will be OK with letting Sam go after the season.
If he can stay on something that’s team friendly I’m all for it.
But I also want to see what we have in our Rookie.
It’s not an easy call.
Not shocked if some team offers him a 3 year, 40 mil contract. New York teams stand out.
Well, they let a high priced QB walk last year and it turned out perfectly.
When you defy odds, how often does that work out? And even when you have odds in your favor, it doesn’t work out.
Count me as one of those people
This GM/Coach combo has proven they can win.
Got the best out of Kirko EVER.
Got the same win % last year with scrubs after Kirko was on IR.
Takes yet another cast off this year, and look at the result.
I am reminded of Denny Green saying no to Sean Salsbury when that idiot wanted a ton of money. Denny felt he could get decent play out of recycled vets, and did for years.
I am not saying Sam is not worth the $, since paying him what we have paid Kirko over the years would be a better value than what the team did by throwing away 6 seasons. I just feel the team will be ok no matter what, and I do want to see JJ lead this team.
part of this equation is QB talent, and Sam has that more than Kirko, by a mile.
Part of this is the entire team dynamic. Coach knows what he has in JJ, and Sam. If they can work out a deal to keep both, I am good with that.
I am okay with whatever decision these guys make, since the Competitive Rebuild is working.
Let him walk – ok?
Then we’ll see how it works out.
But, you’re thought ‘team will bo ok no matter what’ – not sure about that.
Sign Sam, let him walk. Whatever Kwesi decides, I am fine with.
I was replying to your FIRST OK thought, not the later one.
same answer from me. I trust this front office and coaching staff to do what they will to make this team stay competitive.
“Got the same win % last year with scrubs after Kirko was on IR”
QB play was abysmal after the Rocket man magic for 2 games. Let’s be honest here.
And if Sam has more QB talent that Kirk, why exactly is his win percentage not better? QB WINZ, after all. No excuses for being on bad teams, like none afforded to Kirk for having one of the worst O-lines in the NFL for several seasons.
Not an IF. He is more mobile, and just as accurate, and younger.
I am not making excuses for shit record or terrible teams/franchises he played for. The JETS and Panthers are both awful. Do not care. Kirk is 10 years older and you know what you get. Kirk’s ceiling is there for all to see.
Sam is still improving. Compare Sam to other Cast-offs that have found things better elsewhere. Goff, Mayfield, Geno Smith. Even Russel Wilson, whom I despise, is having a resurgence in Pitt after the Broncos failure.
Sam is playing better this season than Kirko ever has during his time playing with teams not named the Vikings.
Kirk had a decent stat line as a Viking for his 6 seasons here. 2022 was pretty good. He started on 2023 super strong as a stat king, but the team, like Kirk was average.
My issue with Kirko has always been the contracts, and holding teams hostage.
Kirko got GM’s and Coaches fired from two different franchises, and if Penix does not bail out ATL, they will be the third team to fire a GM coach thanks to Kirk and his average play and HoF agent.
So happy he has seen his last NFL start.
TL:DR – Kirk sucks
“He started on 2023 super strong as a stat king, but the team, like Kirk was average.” I don’t know if you watched the games, but he was putting up MVP-like numbers before injury. Also, the reason they lost many early games was because everyone else had fumble-itis (again, if you recall).
Aside from several subjectively false statements and exaggerations in your comments, I agree that we are much better off with Darnold, particularly this year and maybe even the future (see what happens with contract).
Just out of curiosity as I lived in DC at the time. what coaches/GM did he get fired there?
I’m no Kirko hater – I think he’s more accurate than Sam (or was) and has a better ‘between the ears’ game as well. He also doesn’t look healthy to me at all.
I think Sam has better arm strength and mobility. Better pocket awareness. 2 long TD throws to Jets this year were from him moving around with great footwork, protecting the ball with his shoulders square and firing ropes for scores. The 2nd Jets TD against ATL and the 2nd Jets TD against Seattle are the two I’m thinking of.
Sam absolutely has better mobility, but he holds the ball way too long in a lot of cases. People used to freak out about “Beaker”, but Kirk delivered some great throws while getting hit hard and often, and at least he had some internal clock.
I just have a problem with saying Darnold has “miles better” talent than Kirk. Objectively and subjectively that’s just wrong, IMO.
Talent is really interesting as I think Sam has a lot of pure talent. Heck. I think he has more talent than Manning and even Brady.
Lot more to the QB equation than natural talent.
Its not about the ability its about the $$$ which affects roster construction. Only way he should get a bag by the Vikes is if we go to the bowl. Do you want to do the same song and dace we just did with Kwerk for half a decade of .500?
I agree. He wins an Owl and give him keys to the stadium…..
I won’t care because we’ll be SB Champs!
Also, I’ll be so stoned for so long I’ll likely forget what a football is…..
As usual you jump in with an opinion while nice is not about what we were talking about. This discussion was about ‘talent,’ Mobility and arm strength.
If you must parachute in at least be on point.
SKOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Liked it when I heard yesterday ‘Sam has gotten a software update from this coaching staff’.
Sounds about right.
You can see his confidence and swagger growing. His facial expressions, body language. All of it. We’re seeing a watershed moment in his career. Couldn’t be happier for him or us….
I thought it was a great analogy too.
This guy

Did anyone see a decent angle on the fake FG play to convince themselves the spot was legit?
Nope. Seemed sketchy to me as well.
first of all it was a fake punt…
secondly, i told my daughter “watch for the fake punt here” and she thought i was a GENIUS when they ran it
thirdly, the spot was VERY generous
I also called the fake punt. My dog was also impressed.
Most of the time fake punts are attempted around midfield, yards to gain being 7 or less.
I’m always aware of this when our opponents are looking to punt near midfield.
To be fair, I think they were aware of it, they just couldn’t stop it. Many times, they look unaware. This time, they just either didn’t stop it or did but Seattle got a generous spot.
Initially I thought it was stopped.
On replay I thought it was close but a generous spot.
I’m certain you’re right. Vikes D line coach was furious on the sidelines after the play.
Watched the game with 3 of my (adult) daughters. We all called the fake but I called it first and my 16 month grandson was very impressed. I could tell because he asked for another bite of banana.
Also we all felt for certain vikes would lose in the 4th. Different mojo this year.
I feel pretty good about our chances in a close game late, not great but good.
I missed the Lambs game and so Loins was the one I saw that didn’t work out for us this year.
I expect this to come back and bite us a some point but until then I will enjoy the ride.
Thought the spot was generous as well. I did not think it was a coincidence that they didn’t show the better angle again.
Looks like the puker game on Sunday will not be flexed to the late game.
I think they have to change the time before week 16 starts.
Noon it is for FTP.
my bleak moment
3 and out 2 min in half punt to 1 returned to 12. Surely we got this. Geno goes 5 for 5 and JSN humps the leg of our backfield at will to make the game 17-14. Good heavens that was weak as my quads.
Vikings, Lions, and Packers… wow. This Division is the talk of the town. I expect the Packers to win tonight, and get to 11-4. Then they have us and the Bears. We have the Packers and the Lions to finish the season. Lions have the 49ers, and us to finish the season. This is a fight to the finish! To be the best, you have to beat the best. Love it!!!
Amen.
At this point think Packers are better than Lions. If Love doesn’t turn the ball over, they are tough. Lions defense is lacking. Play well, and we can beat both.
Let’s go Saints !!
FTP!!
Yeah, Kinda hate both teams.
I will still watch.
I’ll definitely watch, but I think ftp win this one easily. Great win yesterday, skol!
Yeah. That’s the likely outcome.
Would love to see the packers lose…..
hate the saints, but hate the packers more.
Same.
Amen to that!
FTP!!
the way KOC hugs Sam Darnold in the locker room speech video…..
I have a hard time thinking Darnold won’t be back next year.
KOC LOVES sam darnold
You would love him as well, after coaching Kirko/Dobbs/Mullens/Mond last season.
aint that the truth hahaha
He talks him up because he knows QB confidence is key, as is his leadership of a locker room.
I have never seen/heard KOC not talk up a QB.
Heck he was talking up The CryBaby after we defeated the Bares.
Never know when he will trying to coach them up as a retread ala Danny Jones.
low key play of the game was when Darnold slid for a sack on our last offensive possession instead of throwing the ball away
also, the td throw to jefferson at the end of the game, kirk could NEVER have made, because he would have been sacked…
Kirk has proven that the 2022 season not only was an outlier, but it was due to the talent around him and the coaching staff.
Guy is a career average QB with a great agent. Nobody buying his shit anymore. He can either accept being a clipboard holder backup or retire. Either way, dude is rich, and has his health. Good for him.
Better for us that he is gone.
I no longer care if ATL wins the division, since Kirk is not their starting QB any longer, and I actually think Penix will be decent for them.
Kirk is laughing to the bank.
”Julie, I’m getting paid big to hold a clipboard and I’m still off on Tuesdays.
I snookered another team.”
Is that the play where Robinson held AND jammed his hand under the face guard? Grin.
Probably. Seattle’s OLine was holding all game. Greenard in particular was held several times coming off the edge. Blatant holds, blatant no calls. If they missed a call on Robinson I’m fine with it.
I agree, as long as it goes both ways. I’m just steeling myself for an upcoming game with a team that <ahem> seems to curry favor with the refs.
Lol…. I expect the 1st quarter of the Lions game to be a flag-fest…… and not in our favor.
i don’t think i like what you are trying to do here. stop it. stop it right now.
Heh heh.
I actually noticed that too. It’s the 1 time out of every 25 that we benefit from a missed or bad call.
If we get our DBs more catching practice, that game is not as close. Though some of those were tough.
to be fair, both Griffin and Gilmore’s attempts were sprawled out diving attempts, MANY wide receivers don’t make that catch, so i won’t hold those drops against them…
And Cashman’s….i’ll cut him some slack, it was tipped at the line of scrimmage which obviously changed the trajectory JUST ENOUGh…
that being said, you’re paid millions to intercept the ball, INTERCEPT!!!
Hit Cashman in the hands near mid body/hip…. no excuse there. Also, he was 20 yards downfield. That “tip” doesn’t change the trajectory that far away. That was a game-changer.
I’m just saying, no slack is warranted! 😉
Murphy is an absolute liability, and always has been. Sure, he makes a play every once in a while, but overall, he gives up big plays a lot and doesn’t get his head around to knock down passes or intercept balls.
Totally agree. We get in a playoff game and he’s in coverage against a quality receiver, we’re in trouble. Will never forget the sure interception turned into a TD in the Charger game last year.
I think that was Akayleb Evans. But Murphy misplays a lot of balls in the air and should be much better than he is when he is in position.
That was Akayleb Evans…..
Yea thanks, guess was trying to not remember the guy.
Thank goodness Seattle DBs have been attending the same practice.
I feel like a game between the Vikings, Seahawks, Bucs, Rams, Commanders and Packers could go any way on any given Sunday.
I would not feel confident playing any of those teams in the playoffs. On the plus side, they would not feel confident to play us either.
So yesterday’s game was about what I expected. I’m glad Geno is an interception machine, although Metcalf left him out to dry a bit on that last one.
I still don’t like how our defense can get absolutely gashed at times, and OL is always a concern. Packers will be another good test. NFC North is rolling.
Lions still a notch above. Eagles maybe half a notch above Vikings, Seahawks, Bucs, Rams, Commanders and Packer.
Lions probably 70/30 on beating any NFC playoff team.
Eagles maybe 60/40.
Everyone else 50/50.
Yeah, it’s so close. The Lions’ offensive play calling really is next level. I think their defense will eventually be a liability for them though.
I maintain that the Packers are good but still the luckiest team in the NFL. Their running game is scary though, and it could carry them in the playoffs.
If the Lions weren’t so injury-bitten, this would be their year, I think. The fact that they are still rolling is impressive.
I can see them running out of luck in the one-and-done playoffs, though. For now, they remain the team to beat.
“Luckiest” aka NFL loves helping them. Also, they always seem to play teams when down critical players or play good teams in Lambeau.
Exactly. That and the ball seems to bounce their way. It always seems that a fumble in the Vikings’ games goes to the other team while fumbles seem to end up in the Packers’ hands far more often. Just a feel I get.
True – some actual luck in addition to a ton of “man-made luck”.
That was too tense. This is going to kill me.

What a win! You are correct about surviving the heart-attack.
It is concerning that the defense misses Smith and Pace as much as they do, but they did still manage two huge stops to save the win. Fun game, but really, please, I am ready for a blowout easy victory. Although I do not see one like that the next two weeks, it would be nice.

I was so nervous I forgot about the beer
For sure. Would love a relaxing victory, but I guess it’s the NFL.
It’d be great if our defense didn’t always allow the other team to drive to within our 30 yard line every drive. It’s ok to have a good full-field defense and not just red zone defense. 🙂
And KOC needs to look up some game-icing plays to get a first down or two.
Yeah, that last series you knew it was going to be run, run, maybe screen pass or playaction, then punt and give Seattle another minute to get a FG. Gotta go for the kill there. You need one first down to win the game – just play normal football.
I think they tried.
Seattle had two timeouts.
I could’ve seen throwing a pass on second down, but if it’s incomplete, Seattle still has a timeout left.
I think third down was a pass but the first receiver was covered, so Sam wisely just took a sack to keep the clock moving.
