We got most of the yard raked and cleaned up, and got the garage mostly cleaned for our draft party on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Honestly now that Rodgers has been traded out of the NFCN if I were GM of the Vikings I would do this draft and if Richardson doesn’t slide I would immediately sign Kirk to a 4 yr deal and lock up the best QB in the division which gives you a HUGE advantage in winning the division every year and making the playoffs. It’s just the odds are in the favor of the best QB getting his team to the division title over the newbs who may end up sucking.
Winning the weakest division in football and getting bounced in the WC round is not the end goal. Think bigger, better Lifer.
We would have gone farther in the playoffs last year if our defense didn’t make Daniel Jones look like prime Mahomes. Kirk is not the issue and how that escapes you makes you look like you don’t know much about the game when I know you do. Whatever your personal dislikes are about Kirk you need to let those go. He hasn’t had a decent defense in 4 yrs in MN…Zim sucked down the stretch as mr defensive guru.
Rodgers made $305 million with the Packers. Plus endorsements he’s likely made over half a billion dollars. That’s fucking ridiculous.

Co-worker and I were discussing this today. I can’t name another team who has had a longer stretch of HOF QB play. The 9ers got somewhat close with Montana & Young, but nowhere near 31 years.
Not consecutive but they also had another QB for 12 years or so , Bart Starr, that won a few SBs and MVP’s. and is in the HOF. Franchise seems to do pretty well at the position.

My sister (a Packers fan) has already texted me about Rodgers being a Viking in 2024. The Vikings better extend Cousins, draft one high this year, or both or I don’t even want to imagine it.
Well for what it’s worth, people who are concerned with Cousins turning 35 and suddenly he won’t be able to throw the ball, think, walk and chew bubble gum, etc are probably going to be shocked when he plays well for another 3-5 years. That said, KAM will bring in a young guy who will maybe get a roster spot this year.
If he plays well for the Vikings for 3 years and the rook sits, I’m fine with that, if they can come up with a contract that stops with the dead hits. Otherwise, its time to move on. He’s closer to retirement than his rookie deal and nobody knows how long he’ll be able to or even want to play. He might just get tired of getting the crap beat out of him and hang em up.

I especially like that the Packers only get one year to see what they have in Love. Unless he is great or absolutely horrible, what do they do with him at the end of the year? What if he is just kind of meh, because you know, it’s his first year starting? Can’t really sign him to a huge deal, although I hope they do but he also won’t want to take a small deal if he is their starter. Could get interesting and they might be in the QB market next year.

I hope he plays 64.9% of the plays by missing time in the middle of the season but the Jets still make the playoffs and contend. I strongly dislike Rodgers, but that seems like the best way to screw the Packers over and I dislike their organization more than a single person.

I think they’ll move on from Kirk regardless of what happens this year. He’s 35 and will decline at some point in the near future, or may be already.
That’s my feeling too. If they are going to rely on analytics and odds, Kirk is more likely to start declining than keep playing at a high level. He may be the exception, but you can’t count on that. There have been lots of questions if Stafford is going to be done and he’s only like 6 months older than Kirkland.
Stafford got the shit kicked out of him for a decade, and Cousins has taken a beating as well. They could both exit stage left at some point in the near future. I wouldn’t blame them, take your millions and spend your days fishing.

Interesting discussions about the draft. Seems quite a few folks like the idea of big picture, forget competative rebuild, and SB or bust. In that vein seems to be strong thinking for go get a QB on rookie deal and then build a team around him. Seems like a solid idea. But who has won a SB doing this?
I want to win now. That’s why they’ll keep Kirk this season and maybe another year.
But signs point towards KOC/KAM wanting to move on from Kirk, so IMO get one now and let him sit a year or 2.
Kirk’s a gamer and if they extended him 3 years I’d be okay with that too. They need to make a decision though and commit to it.

You watch games? How about the eagles – the NFC Champs. KC and JJ played poorly and KOC had a terrible game plan and we lost, pretty big. but go back and watch some. In the second quarter, a perfect pass for an easy TD was dropped by Irv – no Eagle had anything to do with it. In the third, JJ ran the wrong end of route that caused an interception that could have been another TD. Another error on part – not Eagle’s play. We would have lost anyway, but not as bad as it looked
The Buffalo game. They were ranked one or two in the NFL at the time. We hung with them.

Iv watched every second of every Vikings game over the past 11 seasons. You can get off your high horse. You wont see this comment and iv already explained why last year is a giant flash in the pan and is no way a foundation to build around for the next 5 years of the team. Vikes are around an 8 win team at best as it stands now.

Wentz was the consensus MVP that year before getting hurt & was the reason they were in a position to win it, and they won it.
Well I’d say Mahommes was the last piece necessary. The Eagles, seemed like Foles won all the playoff games and especially the SB. But even if I give you the Eagles, this doesn;t seem to be quite as a productive method as many would lead you to believe.

Actually no, the Bills more recently traded from 21 to 7 to select Josh Allen. There was also a trade with Cincy involved but ultimately the Bills turned pick 21, Cordy Glenn, and two second round picks into #7 and drafted Allen. The Chiefs traded #27, a third and another first the next season to get from 27 to 10.
It won’t be difficult if they want to make it happen.
Yeah if the Vikings want to get there they can, we’ll see what happens but at least all this conjecture coming out is something to talk about. If the Vikings stay at #23 (no trade partner for whatever reason), I really don’t care what position they pick as long as it’s a hit and the guy contributes. I’d be fine with it being a QB who fell and has to sit a year, but anyone else needs to be a force in year one.
