Vikings Conversation & Random Thoughts
Man, this time of year sucks if you like to stay up to date on your favorite football team. I defy you to find one story that is not 100% based on speculation, pulled straight out of the writer’s rectum, or somebody else’s. You will not find anything based on credible information. If you do find something, you’ve found a unicorn. The click-baity headlines on Youtube are the worst. Only 3 more weeks until free agency starts, and the real action for the 2025 season will begin.
Some folks are speculating that the Packers may release Jaire Alexander. There are some Vikings fans who think we should pursue the star cornerback if that should happen. I’m not sure I would go after him if I were KAM. I could be convinced otherwise, but the reasons I’m leaning away from pursuing Alexander is 1) his injury history, I think I read somewhere that he’s only played in 35 of the Packers’ last 69 games, and 2) he seems to be a bit of a head case and I’m not sure he’s the type of person that the Vikings are seeking for the team. I also have no clue what he’s going to want in terms of salary. He’s coming off of a four year, $84 million deal, and he’s only 28, so he may want something in that range. I dunno, you can talk me into it but it’s gonna take some convincing to get me there.

Is anyone excited about the combine this week??
I don’t plan to. Got a call from a friend who asked me to play in a two day golf tournament. He asked me if I could still hit the ball straight, and I laughed and said yes. He said “good… always need a guy who can keep it in play.”
Hope I can help the team.
I had to break into a property last week so I could change lock and secure the place. I found this doll on the nightstand.
Ewwww!!!
What in the hell is wrong with people??!!!
Hey, are you packing heat when you go to these slums to break into houses?? I hope so.
Apple announced they be investing $500B in manufacturing in the U.S. over the next ten years.
In a statement announcing the investment, Apple said the company and its partners will open a new manufacturing facility in Houston that will produce servers that had previously been manufactured outside the U.S. Thousands of jobs will be created when the facility opens in 2026.
Additionally, Apple said it will double its U.S. Advanced Manufacturing Fund and create the Apple Manufacturing Academy in Michigan where the next generation of manufacturers will train. Significant R&D investments in the U.S. will also be made to support AI, silicon engineering, software development, and machine learning.
Trump is reducing the deficit, and increasing revenue. Nice job!
It’s almost as if he planned all of this and promised to do it during the campaign.
Scandalous!
Politicians with the “power of the purse” are attacking Trump for cutting the Government, and suing him in court to overturn his executive orders. They insist they are in charge of the money, and not him. Personally, those guys put us in over 36 trillion dollars of debt. They have done a very lousy job of managing their power of the purse.
I know it has been mentioned, but not very loudly, I would not be against trading AVG. As much as I like him, his value is at its highest right now. If the coaches think Turner is ready and if we are able to bring Pat Jones II back as a backup. I would be okay with the trade.
There is a proposal from an unnamed team to ban the Tush Push, Troy Vincent said. “We’ll see where it goes”.
I guess the Eagles perfected a play to the point it’s virtually unstoppable, and now a team wants to ban it.
I hate the tush push and think they should bring back the rule where a player cannot assist another player to gain yards.
I don’t mind when the Vikings manage to get more yards due to assist.
Not so much when their opponents do it.
I am kind of a fan that way.
i would like to see a rule where a QB cannot slide once the cross the line of scrimmage. Or see the QB penalized of they fake a slide.
probably won’t happen though
I’d be good with that.
I’m fine with them sliding since any player can give themselves up and then not be blasted, but I am not fine with faking a slide. If they fake, their protection should be taken away and the defense should be able to then light them up.
I think if the QB even pump takes once they have crossed the line of scrimmage, it should be a penalty.
So, now the Pohlad’s may not want to sell the Twins. It looks like the frontrunner backed out and now the rest of the field don’t want to pay the full amount that the Pohlad’s are asking.
Oh boy, more of the same for the foreseeable future.
Unfortunately, this may open it up for Glenn Taylor to buy them once the Timberwolves sale is finalized.
First Joy(less) Reid is cancelled.
Now the Forehead is out.
Corporate racism I suppose.
I think he decided to step down from the Nightly News anchor job, but is still going to be working on air for NBC.
Yep.
Dateline.
That show that lied about ford pintos back in the day.
Still, why step down from such a high profile TV job?
Maybe he just got tired of the anchor gig. Dunno.
Got a new theft deterrence device yesterday.

Beautiful. Well done!
No I just have to put some accessories on it and maybe get one of the 20 round drum mags for it. Can’t go wrong for 350 bucks though. I almost had to buy 2.
I’m sure you can accessorize it but love the paint scheme, and yes, $350 is a deal!
The all black version was only 280. We’ll see how bad it kicks. Hopefully this weekend.
.223 or …?
12 gauge
Thought bore had flash suppressor but I see the girth of the barrel now. Bad to the bone.
i’m just poor and don’t have anything anyone would want to steal, that’s good theft deterrent right there
What about the lake house?
oh that ol thing?
Very nice
I watched a little bit of the Atlanta race, this weekend. I am not a fan of the restrictor plate races so I will tune in this weekend again.
Underwear olympics starts Thursday.
And the pundits will hype the shit out of guys like they did Caleb Williams.
They fall in love with the physicality numbers because they can be quantified.
What is between the ears in more important but harder to identify.
Finding a nexus between the two is the Holy Grail of drafting, IMHO.
True. The difference between the college game and the NFL is speed and complexity. Measuring an athlete’s ability to actually perform at that next level isn’t easy.
Stafford apparently is looking for $50M a year. Rams want to keep him I think, but they don’t want to pay that kind of money for him.
‘want to keep him I think, but they don’t want to pay that kind of money for him’
Such is life for many of todays free agents.
Yes, but Stafford is a proven product. He is a top shelf NFL QB. I think there are going to be suitors for his services.
‘are going to be suitors for his services’
Good for him.
I hope it is not us since the most we need is a one year mentor/insurance policy.
Oh KAM will never pay a QB that kind of money (comparatively) again. If the cap gets to $450M he might consider it, but beyond that, he’ll go with rookies on their first deals.
I’m so glad KAM decided NOT to pay QB’s big money.
Paying big money for a QB who leads the league in TD’s and yards, is worthwhile, but there is another way to win. Zimmerball. Play great defense, and have the QB hand the ball off a lot.
I don’t know, after JJ (QB) wins his first couple of SBs KAM might have to go that high on his 2nd contract.
KAM has shown his cards. Like Bruce Allen, he will only put team friendly deals on the table. He will only sign players to big money contracts, if he can dump the player or trade them and not lose money. It’s a good business strategy. Good for the Vikings fiscal situation.
Bye the time JJ (QB) gets to his 2nd contract $50M will be a bargain for QBs.
And he will expect $100M
‘Stafford apparently is looking for $50M a year’
Holy Moving Goalposts Batman!
Well, the contract to Justin Jefferson says otherwise.
He doesn’t have a no trade clause. KAM can get rid of him any time he wants.
So $110 million guaranteed is team friendly?
It’s actually $88M and in a trade, the trade partner will pick up his contract. Justin’s cap hit this year is just over $15M, but next year it goes up to $38M. I would bet KAM will be looking to move him after this year.
The new team would not take on the signing bonus cap hit though which was $37 mill.
True, but that’s been paid already… right?
Physically paid yes. Cap wise no, it is spread over the length of the contract.
Yeah, I’m not a cap expert, but I think once his contract is transferred to another team, all the cap hits go with him for the most part.
Not the signing bonus, so if we were to trade Jets this year, mid season (hypothetical), the remainder of the signing bonus would go against our cap for 2026. So let’s say $10 million of his signing bonus will be paid up to this year, the remaining $27 million would hit next years Cap.
I think we’ll trade him in the offseason, not mid season.
Either way the remaining of the signing bonus would hit the following year, all at once instead of over the years of the contract.
So Any player who can be traded is considered team friendly?
Yes… if you can get rid of a player any time you want, that’s team friendly. Also, when you backload a contract, so your cap hit is light for a couple years, that’s team friendly.
Well then it’s not just Bruce Allen and KAM who do this. Don’t just equate these two.
98% of all contracts can be traded.
Very few no trade clauses in the NFL.
Don’t know what you’re arguing about. Bruce Allen was famous for writing worthless contracts, and I see KAM following this model. He is a fiscal manager, and that’s what Allen was. Although Allen was a lawyer and actually wrote contracts, and KAM was an investment banker. Big difference there. Still KAM has said repeatedly that he wants flexibility in contracts.
I believe his argument is that pretty much every GM is the same. You do tend to compare him to Dan Snyder, but I don’t think he is anything like Snyder. Players hated Snyder, I think the Vikings players like KAM.
No I compare him to Bruce Allen, and I think KAM’s method of management closely follows Allen’s lead.
Sorry I meant Bruce, I don’t remember any player having anything nice to say about him.
Me too!
Me Three!
That’s the goal.
Apparently a touchback goes to the 35 yard line.
More onside options.
If these proposals happen, that means we will be back to the old rules for kickoffs.
But at least all of these changes are more safe.
I guess I feel like, in sports, safety isn’t fully achievable. Injuries come with the territory, and as the NFL waters down the game to make it more safe, I find it less, and less appealing. Just my opinion.
Of course it’s not achievable.
But that doesn’t stop them from using it as a PR excuse to eff up the game.
By that you really mean a way to help the popular teams win. 😁
It is not so much about safety for the NFL.
It is about reducing the payoffs for lawsuits that are brought because they are not addressing safety.
Follow the money, always.
Any lawsuits are bogus in my opinion. Players choose to play the game. They are responsible for their own choices in life.
The Law and Logic hardly know each other.
True, but what laws are broken by a league full of volunteers?
Quit using logic.
I saw a story about an Air BnB being sued when a drunk fell out their window.
They said ‘they were not warned that could happen’ and ‘the window was not designed well enough to prevent people from falling out’ and don’t forget ‘The owner did not do enough to prevent it from happening’.
Yeah, and personal injury lawyers make billions of dollars a year bringing these kinds of cases to the courts.
If I could just get Freezy to invite me to (one of) his lake homes and then I could accidentaly fall out of one of his windows ( I’m clumsy like that)!
But now that you have admitted to your diabolical plan Freezy will use that against you in court.
But he said it on Skoloholics. No one believes anything said on here. And only a handful of people know it exists.
‘only a handful of people know it exists’
Freezy does so he will have his lawyers bring it into evidence.
And facts are not nearly as important as being about to show the ‘victim card’.
Keep the current rules but move the touchback placement to the 15 yard line, thereby incentivizing returns.
But that goes against “player safety”.
Maybe they could just wear flags for kickoffs and play flag football for kickoffs only. That way, the league can start the gradual transition from tackle football to flag football in real games.
I think it is more about the blockers and ‘wedge busters’.
I used to love watching guys throw their bodies into a wedge of blockers so that other defenders could get to the ball carrier.
Laughing
Looks like she (?) lands pretty hard on Tuesday.
I see Kluwe was on CNN. I am now 100 percent convinced he saw his moment to get back in the limelight and is taking advantage.
Look for a View appearance next.
I prefer this view. I have never watched The View.
I don’t know why any (real) man would ever watch the View.
I have enjoyed clips of them saying extremely stupid things and there are a lot of those.
This is what they want for a “man”.
Remember when the Dem’s were telling us he was a new male sex symbol?
Pre surgery trans male.
SoCal, I saw the video clip you posted on the previous thread, regarding Levin’s opening commentary on his show last night. I wish every American could watch it. He very accurately captured what has been going on in our country, and how the Dem’s seek to destroy the Constitution and our way of life through the Judiciary. Very powerful, and as I said, something all Americans need to see.
NoDakRube gets the credit/blame for pointing it out.
All I did was find and post it.
Thank you, people need to watch this.
It is a bit long, almost 15m, but well worth the time.
