Looks like OTA’s are running smoothly. Nobody arrested yet (Don’t drive in Louisville), and no major injuries reported. Darnold and Mullens are taking all the reps with the first team offense, while Hall and JJ are working with the second team. Not surprising. I am hoping Darnold plays well enough that we are not clamoring for JJ before he is ready. Still crickets on the Justin Jefferson contract.

Good morning and SKOL! Really going to be dull till the end of July unless a trade or something happens. Couple more days of OTA’s I guess. The Vikings will need to be a defensive juggernaut, with a strong running game, to be successful this year. Can Flores pull it off and Jones be great?

Definitely don’t believe. JJ is minimum #2. You don’t draft a QB and realistically have him 3rd. All for show and to keep him humble.

If he’s not ready to start at the beginning of the year, I’d have Mullens as the backup and JJ 3. If he’s not ready to start, he’s not ready to get shoved into a game without proper preparation.

True, but again, you think the fanbase or coaches are going to put him behind Mullens realistically when there is a clock on their jobs and everyone wants to see what we have? A decade ago, I agree, but this day and age, everyone is all about instant gratification. So officially, he’s #3, but realistically, I think he’s #2 behind closed doors. Quite frankly, it doesn’t matter if he’s not starting and everyone is healthy, and in that case we’ll never know anyway.
Now my assumptions are that he’s “ready” via certain standards that nobody knows.
I don’t think he’s behind Mullens now, but I wouldn’t be afraid to flat out say he’s the future and we’re not risking that if he isn’t the starter. I guess it’s a difference between what you think skill set and what the depth chart says. I would have no problem saying JJ is the future and we’re not going to risk anything by putting him out there ill prepared. Mullens has played in this scheme and is not the future of the franchise. You’re not going to hurt Mullens mentally by throwing him on the field should Darnold go down and if he gets hurt, at the end of the day big deal and hopefully he was able to finish the game and give JJ a full week of prep. Shoot, I could see having Sam as the starter and Mullens the backup and should Sam go down for an extended period, then JJ is the starter. Having JJ as #3 in what I’m saying here is more game day than overall.

You’d think Darnold will be starter, but he may not be able to beat our Mullens (given our offense).
Don’t know all that much about Hall – but he’s probably not a dummie. Yet he looked lost in that Packer game. JJ, as a rookie, is liable to have very similar problems.
This could turn out a lot of different ways.
Yes, very complex at this point. It will be interesting to follow, that’s for sure. And entertainment is all we can ask for, right? Well, that and some W’s.
I’m into W’s most of all.
And I’m old school. – put the QB on the field that’s playing the best and has ‘earned’ it. I don’t care when you are drafted or how much money you’re making. It’s all about performance.
And that’s why I think that JJ will be playing. I think he’ll put the work in and pick up the system fast enough to be close enough to Darnold and JJ is more physically talented.
If he comes out best – start him.
I think I would like to know what the “benchmarks” are, but since I don’t I will expect him to start when he starts, and not worry about the rest. If Mahomes can sit and learn for a year, I won’t be upset if JJM does also.

Not sure about that, Darnold went #3 overall due to his physical talent.
I am praying that JJ as more processing power between the ears (AKA faster CPU).
Preseason usually bores me, this one should be funner.

Or unless they fully intend to let him sit a full year and let him develop. Its up to his development speed as to when he plays. If Darnold gets hurt in week 4 for example, JJ is NOT starting. I would put money on that.
I could see that perspective. But I also see the point of “you drafted a QB, why are we playing Mullens when JJ could get some experience and we can see what we have”. So maybe before that, you’re right, but if it’s after week 6 or 7, likely JJ. That’s all assuming JJ doesn’t start week 1, which I think is very highly unlikely, but still possible if he looks good in preseason or Darnold gets a “tweak”.
At this point, the staff have about an 80% idea of what they have.
I can see JJ being #3 this early in things.

Preseason games don’t matter.
At one time Monde was the long term solution… and so was Ponder… and so was Teddy. I want to see how JJ absorbs the offense. He has all the physical traits needed. That’s just the bottom rung of the ladder though. Remember when the fans went nuts for Dobbs? Yeah. JJ might could be all that. We are all praying that will be the case. I’m just always leery of all the hype before any player sets foot on a real NFL field, in a real NFL game.

Seems like that there are two types around today.
The Woke, who only see what they want to see and damn anyone who sees it differently.
And the Aware, who get that there are good and bad things going on but the good far outweighs the bad.

I am so thankful and proud of those people who fought for our country. But it’s getting harder and harder to see the good anymore. And a lot of people who fought for this country would be severely disappointed in the world and politics of today’s age, IMO. Doubt as many of them would have fought for the crap we have to deal with now.

That’s exactly what I was thinking of when I typed that. Promotions given on gender/race and not merit, conservatives being rooted out, terrible strategy and direction (see proxy wars, Afghan. withdrawal, etc). Just a a very poor direction we are headed.

Was thinking this morning, given the holiday, I have spent more time in Arlington National Cemetery than a great many folks.
You probably know this from your career, The Pentagon is located only about a quarter mile from Arlington.

We were trained to ‘notify family’ and then assist in Stuttgart when the troops deployed to Iraq. Not something I wanted to do but was willing if it had to be done.
Will just say helping the bereaved families of service members is rewarding but it does take a toll.

Very ugly. They enlisted or drafted. You watch footage of that war and you see landscape and weather issues you can’t believe. WW2 in large part had defined lines and you could rotate troops. Not Nam, on edge constantly. How they were treated is disgusting.
The entire thinking about Nam was screwed up.
One thing the WWll guys new – they weren’t coming home until they won.

When I was younger all job applications asked if you were a veteran and if so a veteran got some preference.
Now, I don’t even think it’s asked any more and preferences are given for a totally different reason.
Its still asked and given preference for any government job and for grants or loans.

Guess Darnold should play like crap in the offseason – then we will all feel better.
To date Darnold, much like Wentz, has shown talent, but in the end, not much consistent production. Every team he has been on thought he could be a solid starter (OK, maybe not the 49ers) but he hasn’t played very well. I hope, somehow he does get his act together.
So the question becomes, how long does KOC allow Darnold to play while bothered?
From the words up top, highly unlikely based on his career performance, he’s a less accurate version of Mullens.

I reviewed Furiosa at The Last Movie Outpost. It is mostly good.
I appreciate these. Never planned on seeing that in the theater, but I will stream it eventually.
Also, you are correct, Road Warrior is the best of all those movies.
I liked the originals in the series, but I could not get through Fury Road. It was over the top fake to me. Furiosa, watching the trailers looked like it was the “woke” version of Road Warrior. With the lead being a female instead of male.
