I don’t call it black Friday. As a matter of fact, if you’re out shopping today, you should probably check yourself into an institution of some sort and get some help. No thanks, not for me. I know it’s not as insane as it was years ago, but still. Yuck.
Thanksgiving Day NFL Football
The first game was somewhat of a surprise yesterday, but not really. I don’t care, I was rooting for the Lions, because I hate the Packers and will never root for them to win. If the Packers play the Taliban, I’m rooting for the Taliban. The rest of the games went about as expected. The Cowpies slaughtered the…..Commanders….or whatever they’re called this year, and the 9ers clobbered the Seahawks.
Thanksgivng Day Yummy
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving & were able to spend quality time with family. My in-laws are in town, so we did the usual at our house; I made turkey on the smoker, we watched lots of football, played lots of cards and games, and enjoyed food & deserts. I couldn’t partake in the pies, but I think kiddo & I are gonna throw together a gluten-free french silk or chocolate silk pie tonight.

I finally bought a car last week for my business. I had my eyes out for a Camry or Accord (would also have settled for a Civic or Corolla), and I found a well-maintained 2014 Accord Sport in Dickinson. It has a 6 speed manual, which I LOVE. I obviously need to ditch the ugly rims, that’ll get done this weekend. I’m sure some kid will buy the ugly things that are on there.

Minnesota Vikings Discussion Topic of the Day
With the Lions falling to the Packers, and two head-to-head games remaining, what do you put the Vikings’ chances at winning the NFC North?

Minnesota Vikings News:
SI.com reports that the Vikings are ‘in the running’ for former Colts LB Shaq Leonard. It makes sense, KAM seems to like to target guys who are coming off of injury or who had a down year. I like the strategy, get them on a contract where you can cut bait if needed, and take a chance on a guy.
TwinCities.com says that when Josh Dobbs scrambles, good things happen for the Vikings.
Derek Carr is in line to start on Sunday against the Falcons, per NFL.com.
NFL.com looks at teams who need to upgrade their backfield in their week 12 running back index. You won’t be shocked to see the Vikings on that list.
Vikings.com has the Vikings-Bears week 12 injury report.
Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something feel free to ask. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here. Just be civil and cool to one another.
Cooking up some pheasant right now….delishhhh
Yummy!!
Wine me, dine me……
69 me!!!!!!!!!!
Are the Jets still favorites togo to the Super Bowl this year?
No…I don’t believe they are.
Are you sure? He did say “go” to the Owl, not “win.”
Not really a Jets lover or Hater. But God, watching them play, feel sorry for their fans.
Who throws a Hail Mary at end of half and gives up a 101 yard pic six?
Yeah, I saw that. Just damn the bad luck all around for the Jets this year.
I know right???
It would be so miserable to be a Jets fan.
There offense is totally inept, I don’t know that A-rodge would have made a huge difference…that line stinks.
Not a good team.
Justin Jefferson suffered his hamstring injury on Oct. 8, and the Vikings placed him on injured reserve two days later. Since then, he has missed six games. His 21-day practice window began Nov. 8, and he must be activated by Nov. 29 or he will remain on injured reserve for the rest of the season. But WAIT, the bye week doesn’t count so he can miss the Bears game on the 27th and still be able to come back after the bye and play the rest of the season.
I’m guessing he sits the Bears game out.
Yep, I am actually O.K. with that.
If he’s not 100%, they should not take a chance. Really, if we need him to beat the Bears, we’re in a bad spot.
Well we’re kinda in a bad spot… when the game was on the line last week against Denver, we had a little over a minute on the clock with three timeouts and couldn’t move the ball at all, much less get into field goal range.
We need some guys to come back from IR and play.
True – but we had just won 5 in a row before last week with out him. Think we just didn’t play our best against Broncos.
Great Turkey Day. My son and I made the most awesome garlic mashed potatoes for the meal, I made a batch of German Gluhwein, and I got another deer.
Sounds like a perfect day!
Glad you enjoyed your day. In today’s world, everyone needs a little break from the crazy.
My son got 2 doe, but then was just hunting for his big buck which unfortunately he did not get.
I’m working at home today on my bookstore. However, my wife is home today and our adult daughter is home visiting today.
Too many distractions!
I am at the office, and I am the only one here today…
Blessed Silence….
I’m also working from home, today. The wife keeps pulling me away to help her clean up from yesterday’s big dinner. She also wants Christmas lights hung. Won’t be getting much real work done…
This is the problem with working from home when your spouse is around….
I can work from home and be productive when she is not there….but when she is she just can’t help herself, always requesting household tasks.
And of course the constant requests for more sex….
That sounds like hell…
LOL, I’ll have to try that last line on her…
Are you sure that isn’t from you, not her? Hopefully she doesn’t just laugh at you.
You are indeed a wise man.
Fortunately, with the daughter home, they keep each other entertained, however they are just loud. My wife want me to move all of my hunting stuff so they can put up the Christmas tree, so I’m sure there will be those small requests throughout the day that will disrupt my working.
Good morning Skolos!
On my way to hang with family today, including my middle sister – who I’ve been estranged from for about 15 years….
Lord, beer me strength
Skol!
Good luck reconciling, Mjolnir!
“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”
Hmmm sounds like fascinating day awaits!
15 years is a long time. Maybe she’s learned a life lesson or two. If not, just remember you’re not responsible for her behavior, only for your reaction to it.

This admin has changed it
Speak incoherently, and carry an empty hand.
And don’t fall off the stage.
If you go out today, may God have mercy on your soul.
If you go out today, you are an idiot.
Well my kids are in town and want to go to Epcot this afternoon. The parks will be jammed.
Maybe I’ll run into Ben over there.
The Marcus Davenport off-season pick-up irritates me. KAM plunked down $13M for one season, and he’s played in two games.
Yep, the couch has been a huge disappointment.
But maybe he will be back for the playoffs, well rested, and able to make an impact….you never know….I think he has looked pretty good when he has played.
And maybe my Subaru will run for another 125,000 without incident, it could happen. Be positive.
Well he for sure be well rested.
Between the two, I’m betting on your Subaru.
Ha!
Sophie’s Choice – pick one.
Hmm, well I value the 125,000 miles at about $14,000 dollars…
So would I rather have $14,000 dollars or an impactful D-lineman in the playoffs? If the Couch dramatically increases our chances of winning a super bowl, I will go with Davenport.
I don’t know. A little EV evaluation. 20% chance he plays, and 20% chance he is even impactful. So, 4% overall he helps at all.
Subaru looks pretty good.
The smart money is on the Subaru.
You guys are probably right.
Bold prediction: The Vikings will extend their win streak over their NFC North opponent to six, the second-most consecutive wins they’ve had over the Bears in franchise history (eight from 1972 to 76), with their third one-score victory in their past four games. Joshua Dobbs will lead Minnesota from behind in the final two minutes of the game and hit tight end Josh Oliver for the winning touchdown. — Courtney Cronin
Well now, guess it’s a lock...
One game at a time – just beat the Bears. And then the next game, and so on. Didn’t think we played our best against Broncos and can’t be doing that.
The running game looked better, the passing game not so much.. The defense didn’t have any answers on that last drive.
Dobbs has to play better, terrible ball security – inaccurate passing…I hope he posts a great game Monday night.
Well “if” we run the ball as effectively as we did against Denver, Dobbs just has to be a game manager and deliver some strikes. I think he sees himself as a playmaker though, and maybe he needed to be in the first few games, because he doesn’t know the offense. He needs to use his legs to reset the pocket, and deliver the ball to the playmakers. Certainly take yards where they are available, but just do your job.
And stop folding your arms and posing for the camera when you make a play. You ain’t that great.
Agree. Still think we are a passing team as I don’t have much confidence in our running game. Any good running is sort of a plus.
Work laptop is doing updates… been spinning for about 20 minutes… I fear the worst.
Good morning, SKOL!
Food hangover day….
I’m ready for breakfast!!
With the Seahawks losing, the Vikings have tentatively moved into the 6th seed.
They would face the Lions if the playoffs were held today.
Need to beat da bears Monday!
With the Lions losing, we can still win the division. That was big for us. We definitely need to beat the Bears Monday night!
Winning the division is doable. Lions remaining schedule…
@ Saints
@ Bears
Broncos
@ Vikings
@ Cowboys
Vikings
While the next three teams aren’t very good, on the road and Denver are not automatic wins if you can get spanked by the Packers at home.
If the Vikes avoid turnovers, they can win the division.
If I were a betting man, I’d bet Vikings Lions in the first round of the playoffs. Philly SF will be 1 and 2. Det/Min will be 3 and NFC south will be 4. Dallas 5. Det/Min 6.
Could see Vikings Lions 3 of 4 games at the end of the year.
I try to be positive and then……
Yep, that’s how I see it. Setting up for a dramatic end to the season if the Vikings play well over the next 3 weeks. Hoping we can git’er dun.
Starts with Da Bears – they gave the Lions all they could handle on Sunday, not going to be a push over.
Well if the Vikings are for real, they will find a way to beat the Bears. Pretty much out of rope at this point in the season, and the Lions have opened the door for them.
Yes, and it is time for the Vikings to whoop up on a mediocre to poor team….Can we get an 8+ point victory please????
After watching the Packers game, we should have won 37-7 except our special teams just completely shit the bed and cost us 13 points offensively, and 3 points defensively.
Their defense had absolutely no answers for our offense.
Lions remind me of last year’s Vikings – sort of live at the edge. Hope we can take advantage of that
No, you haven’t been following the narrative…
@This years Lions are a gritty group that thrive in the face of adversity led by their dynamic and charismatic coach, last years Vikings were just a mediocre team that kept getting lucky@
Oh yea – sorry I forgot.
