Hey everyone, business is taking off and I haven’t had a ton of time to get on here. Hopefully that’ll change soon, but for now, it’s a** holes and elbows. I’m doing all the work myself right now. Working and sweating is therapeutic right now after 10 years in a corporate job. I’ll keep doing it myself until it isn’t therapeutic anymore, then we’ll hire someone.
Minnesota Vikings Discussion Topic of the Day
This is an easy one, should the Minnesota Vikings pursue Trey Lance?
If not, why shouldn’t they?
If so, what is the most that the Vikings should give up? What is Lance’s role, compete with someone for the starting role in 2024?

Minnesota Vikings News:
SI.com has a wrap-up of the Vikings:Cardinals joint practice, a light day to finish training camp.
MSN wonders if Trey Lance may be on the Vikings’ final 53-man roster.
Aaron Rodgers is expected to play in the Jets’ preseason finale, according to SI.com.
Jordan Addison pleaded guilty to a lesser charge and will lose his license, per ESPN. Meh, I did dumber things when I was his age. I hope he lights up the league this year.
Here’s a training camp recap of yesterday’s practice from Vikings.com.
Yahoo Sports looks at six teams who may have interest in Trey Lance. The Vikes are at the top of the list. Make it happen.
Some psychopath at Sports Illustrated is doing 2024 mock drafts already, FFS.

Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something feel free to ask. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here. Just be civil and cool to one another.
Football at noon tomorrow. That’s when football is supposed to be played right? Should be fun even if it is preseason.
Egg on a burger is good.
How about Teddy, playing for the Lions?
Well Thielen can still score TD’s….
It was a nice catch/move.
Damn, looks like Thielen just got a concussion. They haven’t said anything yet, but that’s what it looked like.
Nevermind, not a concussion, hit him in the back.
Love the 49ers GM. He lays down his pride and admits he made a huge mistake and tries to recover as much as possible.
Hopefully KAM learned some things from him. Bc he may need to cut bait with Cine and Booth sooner rather than later
Lol…if KAM was the GM in this same situation, you’d be firing up a lynch mob. Your full of shit.
*You’re
Haha got you clown. You’ve officially replaced kfey
I’ll take clown every day and twice on Sunday compared to whatever the fuck you are. Enjoy sucking Lynch cock.
BTW..:don’t you remember all your self-righteous, hypocritical lectures? Name calling isn’t allowed here. Do everyone a favor and take one for the team…ban yourself. This place will be better for it. Mick, Rob and Brad can take it from here. And you can focus on getting yourself together. Win-win.
Glad we can end the trey lance discussion
Cowboys ready to launch Dak if he keeps throwing ints.
I wish we would do a splash transaction occasionally. I think Kwesi is trying to bore us into submission.
So Trey Lance to the Cowboys for a 4th….we will rue the day.
I said we should give a 3…we shall see…
I am seldom wrong….
So I checked back in on Russian’s version of Twitter.
Wagner is fucked. They no longer have an artillery, armored vehicles or just about any weapons beyond small arms.
They could cause a bunch of trouble, but can’t resupply if they did.
Putin spent the last two months isolating them into groups all over russia, Belarus, Syria and Africa.
So now they are scattered and dependent on the Russian military for weapons and re-supply.
A lot of them have just gone home….not sure this is a good thing for Russia in the long term.
Also funny was Ukraine must have launched a big ass offensive. Some Russians were cut off and asking for air support through their version of Twitter.
I can’t wait to shit all over Cine after Saturdays game.

So why do fans go to the Vikings preseason games? KOC shows no interest in trying win them, whatsoever. The Cardinals aren’t the cream of the crop as it were, but do we even beat them tomorrow?
Free tickets
I went to the San Fran one. Wanted to see Booth, Cine, Mond, Trey lance and the other rookies play.
If you are going to see them win, then you will be disappointed.
I thought Cine looked really good against San Fran for the most part.
Guy was fast and got to the play quickly. He broke up a pass along the 10 yard line that was a really nice play.
Trey lance did not play.
Mond threw 2 ints and threw a lot of 5 yard passes. Looked like shit.
I don’t remember Booth doing much good or bad.
Evans was all of the place. Made a lot of plays. Also was out of position on a couple of plays. He looked promising though.
Blake lynch looked good too.
Don’t remember much else.
I guess getting tired of baseball and any football is better than nothing. Usually can get tickets at good prices.
For evaluating talent, I don’t know Your 2nd stringer may look good against 3rd stringer, but be horrible against a starter. Maybe the keen eye can figure it out.
I enjoy watching the battle for roster spots. The battles for the backup positions are fun to watch.
So we have Morikawa showing the way, Scheffler one back and now Rahm closing in a few shots back. Rory out in no mans land floating 4 shots back. Rickie is done I believe, just doesn’t have the fire power +4 today.
OH BOY!!!!!!
The Vikings on Friday announced the signing of cornerback Jameson Houston one day ahead of concluding the 2023 preseason by hosting the Cardinals.
In order to make room for Houston on the roster, the Vikings waived tackle Chim Okorafor.
Houston appeared in two games for the XFL’s San Antonio Brahmas this spring.
The Texas native played college football at Baylor, where he appeared in 48 games for the Bears from 2016-19. Houston totaled 86 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, an interception, 17 passes defensed, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. Houston was named First-Team Academic All-Big 12 and received an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention as a senior.
Kewsi runs the team like a corp ceo who’s cutting payroll getting ready to sell the company.
I think KAM consciously searches for the most obscure possible players on the planet to pursue.
Are there absolutely no interior lineman out there?
Risner but there has to be something seriously wrong with him to not be signed by now. We’ll have to look for upgrades next offseason. Doubt we find a diamond in the rough from cuts. I’d let Lowe play LG some possibly.
If the season goes south because of our IOL blocking – that’s just criminal given out skill set talent.
If the IOL could speak
Got a tee time for Sunday at 0700. Gonna be interesting, because sunrise is at 0706.
Gonna be playing in the dark the first two holes. Both have heavy woods on the left, and water that runs down the right side. Better not hook or slice! Might hit a 6 iron off the first tee to make sure I can find my ball. I hit my 6 iron about 135 to 140 yards.
BTW, the first hole is a 360 yard dogleg left. Two 6 irons and a pitching wedge onto the green, one putt or two putt.
That is optimal time to tee off. Sun coming up first groups on the course it does not get better.
Yep. I like being the first group out. I’m a fast player, and hate standing around waiting on the group in front of me to hit.
Grip it, and rip it… er… knock it forward.
That’s our tee time in the morning, 6:50am. It’s still pretty light out here but light is shifting noticeably.
The Mrs and I play with a good pace, she will pick up if she is struggling or we are being pushed and she feels rushed. I like playing fast ready golf. Sometimes though you just have some slower reads and situations so it can be fluid how you play but we’re usually good pace. 3:45-4 hrs a round. I played 18 in 3 hrs by myself Tuesday.
I am an early golfer as well. Will be plenty light by that time. Hit em well!
So what, if anything, are we looking for in the Cardinals game?
Honestly, I can’t think of 1 reason to watch the game. I doubt Pace plays much or at all, and he was kind of why I was watching the 1st two.
The best I can come up with is lets give Hall a good long look….but I have seen enough to know he isn’t the 2nd coming of Mahomes.
I haven’t watch any preseason…don’t feel like I’ve missed anything.
You are CORRECT, sir!
I guess we can watch an see if Udoh embarrasses himself again.
That’s a good one!
Spoiler.. he will
More than one TD?
Special teamers
No injuries.
IOL play that doesn’t resemble a wet paper towel.
No fumbles.
Good special teams play.
Rickie is hugely off today. Missing shots by wide margins. Did he catch Rory’s back issues?
Rickie finished with two bogies on the front, and is two over par for the round. Just hit his second shot on number 10 to 3 feet 9 inches though.
In his first four seasons with the Bucs, Center Ryan Jensen played on 700 or more pass protection snaps each year according to Pro Football Focus.
Only two other centers achieved that level of availability even twice in the same stretch, Jason Kelce of the Philadelphia Eagles and Alex Mack of the Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers.
In those four years Jensen allowed just one sack in 2018, only 15 total pressures in 2019, was second to just Kelce in total pressures in 2020, and ranked third in total pressures in 2021.
Context?
I think it means Bradbury sucks, but I’m not sure.
Yeah, Bradbury or Jennings… think if Brady was playing behind Bradbury instead of Jennings.
Brady’s Mama didn’t raise no fool. Ain’t no way Tom is playing behind a crappy center.
I wish we had that guy…
Interesting, he was listed as a Tackle in the draft. He was still on the board when we selected G Jeff Baca.
And Baca was selected a round AFTER we nabbed P Jeff Locke
Rickie appears to be struggling badly today, making long putts for par pretty much every hole. Driving the ball well right on the par 4’s and the par 5.
Well at least he is keeping it even. He’s waiting for a streak of good swings which he can do.
Has an 8 and a half footer for par on #7
As Trevino used to say – there’s two things that don’t last very long. dogs chasing cars and pros putting for pars.
Unfortunately he missed the par putt too…
Lot of bad putters. If Scottie and Rory could put, they would win every week.
Followed up that 84 with an 88 today…I will take it….
Great rounds there NDR!
You’re in the groove….just keep playing and try and catch another low round.
Congratulations. two rounds in the eighties. DE shot a 79 yesterday and NLV is in the high 70’s and Lifer is getting closer and closer to constant 80’s.
This place is getting to be a Golfwrx Lite site.
I’m bringing up the rear until I shoot 85 or better. I’m all around it just need a streak of good holes. I’m going to play a little more conservative tomorrow. Use 3 wood a bit more off the tee and play position even more.
The only thing I might recommend is if you’re standing over a shot with a club in your hand, and you know you can only pull that shot off maybe 3 out of 10 tries, hit a different shot.
Great advice!
NLNV is part of the NO FUN LEAUGE!
You are right…”Lets see, I am in the rough but if I can get my 7 iron high enough I can shoot that gap in the top of the trees and advance it 140 down the fairway…or I could just punch out through that huge gap and advance it 50 down the fairway.”
I tend to choose the former.
The good news is, you’re not alone. Almost all amateur golfers try to hit shots they can’t pull off one in a dozen or more tries.
I’m playing position golf for sure which is exactly that. Pull off the shots I know I can make and keep the ball in play. My chipping and putting has been solid, only had one 3 putt Tuesday and it was a lip out. I’m looking forward to my round tomorrow going in confident.
You and I know you can hit the ball. and you can putt. At this point it’s 90% mental. Eliminate hero shots, and just trust your game and don’t over think it. Let it happen.
bringing up the rear….did you see my score yesterday?
This is the current lay of the land for NFL TE contracts, per average annual value:
Hockenson isn’t worth more than $17M a year in my book. Maybe $10M but not much more.
He’s not as good as the top 3, maybe in the Goedert area.
I would actually put him 6th on this list.
I would go Kittle, Kelce, Andrews, Waller, Hock/Goedert
It’s probably be back loaded in anticipation of cap going up I would assume.
Well he’s going to get $14 or more. Less than that he walks. Again he’s tied to Kirk imo. You lose your top QB why the hell are you paying top TE money if you have a developmental prospect? You could but seem like adding in another gamble. You have Kirk having Hockenson makes a lot more sense.
I don’t know who will be throwing the ball to the Vikings receivers next year (it won’t be Cousins). Hopefully the line and the skill position players will be so good, whoever we have back there will be able to get the job done though.
A lot of folks think a good TE is a QB’s best friend – especially for a developmental QB. Now following your logic though, why have a $30 million WR for a developmental QB?
Does KAM trade JJ for a bunch of draft picks, and depend on Addison to be the star of the future?
If our offense is like top 5 this year, he keeps both Kirk and JJ.
Now, this Hock stuff, I like him but at a reasonable price. He hasn’t exactly had a historic career yet.
Completely asinine for a player to tie his future to somebody else.
I think who your QB will be weighs heavily of roster building and what and when you’re going to spend on skill positions. We haven’t even discussed JJ yet lol…..if they pay all these guys then go get a scrub rookie and it implodes KAM deserves to be run out of the state.
With highest paid WR and TE, and 1st round draft pick WR2 but then not be able to get them the ball – be like buying a Ferrari with a transmission stuck in 3rd gear.
If a GM is going to pay 2 to 3 players top of the league money, that GM better draft well. Very little cap space left to sign needed holes via free agency.
This is true.
Meh….its one or two plays in a kid who’s developing. This Shanahan look alike (actually thought that someone cut and copied Kyle’s head to a body) is overly critical, it’s one play, in the preseason with half baked plays and a bunch of backups in.
Lance is learning he’s going to make mistakes. Every QB does.
No shortage of QB’s critics in the world.
Remember when we had a Back Page. Maybe we need to revive that and use it for all the golf….xldjaperiaj;t[=a…..talk.
Sorry, I fell asleep just typing it.
And maybe throw in a little Lifer and DE “current day news” and you might have quite a forum going.
Agreed!
Here’s some golf news
anything golf related
Yeah… officially a complete non-story
Back in high school, I woke up one morning after a heavy night of drinking, and there was 30 feet of barbed wire fence hanging from the back of my car. 3 strands of wire, posts, and everything. No clue how it got there, don’t remember any of it.
Tight field in fedex, in hotlanta.
Morning Skolholes. Hock come up with a new malady? Anyone attending game tomorrow?
Earache turned into backache, keeps moving South.
I would guess groin, then the knee…..
LOVE that movie
Lower back this time
Well…get your Clifford jokes ready….they’ve found their 3rd in a row HOF QB. It’s always the backup.
Nice homer take…..
Problem is…..GB or Chi also win since they play week1.
Very well said.
Not sure it has to be that choice. If you can get him in cheap, treat it as a development project. Try to resign Cousins and let Lance sit and learn for a while with no pressure that he has to live up to thriple first round draft pick on a SB ready team.
He has one year left on his deal pretty much… you’d have to resign him. Zero chance whoever trades for him is picking up his expensive 5th year option leaving only one year left after this season.
Who has one year left pretty much? Lance has two years and could be 3 with 5th year option.
One year after this season. Nobody is picking up his 5th year option especially if he’s QB3 which he would be traded here. Therefore, 2024 would be his last season so you’d have to extend him.
They should do what they did for Love if they did trade for him. Less than 5th year option by resign for 2 years to et some years.
If the Vikings traded for him he wouldn’t be QB3, they’d cut or maybe trade Mullens.
Disagree. Mullens stays 100% for sure. Hall to PS. Lance QB3 and have to keep on roster.
No point in keeping Mullens at that point.
Lance cant play right now. Zero chance they sign him and make him QB2. Maybe as the season progresses but not immediately. They’d have to eliminate a spot somewhere else.
Regardless, I dont see KAM trading for him so won’t matter anyways
I agree
Correct. And I’d bet even money the niners aren’t going to let him go minus a hell of an offer.
They really can’t considering all the draft capital they invested. Shanahan was enamored with Lance, so much so that he implied that had he had more collegiate starts that he wouldn’t have been available at 3 – Kyle Brandt on GMFB did a segment covering all that. Crazy they can give up that much, completely whiff on the pick and still be a legit SB contender.
I think the talent is in him as Shanahan saw it.
Simply because he hasn’t flashed doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist, doesn’t mean it can’t be developed. Not every QB’s path is day one being a stud, that’s what everyone wants but it doesn’t always work that way.
He’s shown the flashes, he just needs the right teacher who connects with him, invests in him to make him smarter so as to be more confident to execute.
Could you think of a better person than this guy? I can’t. Would be the perfect situation to re-sign Kirk, teach the future how to play the position and be a pro. Kirk is so good at being a mentor.
You seem particularly insightful today.
As I recall (as best I can) didn’t we have preseason training sessions with the niners last year and everyone was all gaga over Lance’s play and talent.
Yeah that was just new shine. Once that wore off then he didn’t get a lot of reps behind the starter then got hurt early after starting and the parade was over.
We he went down injured I knew his time in San Fran might be over. When a team spends the treasure to get you in the top 3 picks….you better flash. Well he crashed. I think it was just a bad run of timing, expectation and development. He wasn’t ready for that situation and Shanahan knew it and took the risk. He blew it imo.
Human nature as we are all swayed by recentness bias. Not so sure the 49ers have given up on him just yet.
I’m all for acquiring him for pennies on the dollar. I just don’t see SF admitting failure to the point that they sell him cheap.
You can’t let him sit as the 3rd string QB considering the draft capital they invested.
If Mullens has to start we lose. So take a young guy that might actually develop.
Kirk goes down… doesn’t matter who the QB is where doomed
@QB’s don’t matter for wins@
That’s my point. So why have a guy who has no upside to develop.
2023 Cap Hit $9.3 million
2024 Cap Hit $10.8 million
FA 2025 or 5th year option.
Trade for him, let him sit this year and see what he looks like in practice and go from there. If he looks like poop in practice re-sign Kirk or find a QB in the draft. If he isn’t poop bring someone in to compete or draft someone and keep him as well. His biggest problem is since 2020 he has missed two entire seasons of playing and practicing due to his last college season being cancelled and injury in 2022.
Lance was selected 3rd overall by the Niners in the 2021 draft. He’s been on the field with Kyle Shanahan for two seasons. I’m thinking this is a case of, like Zim said, “I see him every day”. After two years of being around him, Kyle sees him as a 3rd string, and completely expendable player. I think that says it all.
Correct.
Wait for the Niners to cut him.
Or pouch him from the PS.
There have never been instances of players changing teams and doing better…
If Shanahan and the Niners can’t make Lance work, why should the Vikings give up picks? The Vikings need to acquire picks to move up in the draft IMO
Yep
Maybe because 49 ers are in a very different position. He was drafted and played some RPo’s near the goal line his first year, but basically played behind Jimmy G. Then the niners said he was ready and junked Jimmy. He played one game in the rain and then broke his leg the first quarter of the next.
Now Purdy comes in and plays well so is now the chosen one. But because of QB injuries, the bring in Darnold. Now he as played for the Jets and Panthers but was a first round pick and has some talent. And I’d guess at this point, he can play in their system better than Lance. They are playing for a SB and if Purdy gets hurt, next guy up can’t be a development project. For all we know, Darnold may be better than any of our backups too.
No doubt he’s not ready to play. But I wouldn’t put him in the trash bin just yet because of the niner situation.
100% correct. Niners had a loaded offense too and he sucked. Not like he was on Texans or AZ or something.
Just curious. They do and have had a loaded offense. So why did they trash Jimmy and pick Lance as the starter last year?
This is the million dollar question…
Rookie contract. Jimmy still was getting 20 mil or something like that. They need to pay their stars, Bosa, CM, Deebo, Kittle etc.
Don’t you also think they thought, starting Lance last year was their best move to get to the SB.
Move up for what?? Another young QB that’s a crap shoot to develop? Yes that’s what it would be. Now that said I like the 24 class, Williams, Maye, Hartman, but no idea if they’re any better or worse and as it stands today we need line help more that anything. I’d rather re-sign Cousins and move up for the best guard or DT prospect that go after a QB and basically a rebuild if you let Cousins walk. My preference is keep Cousins for 3-4 more yrs, either get Lance for a 3rd day pick or take one of these qb’s that might slip to mid first rd. I’d rather take Lance, re-sign Cousins and draft the best lineman we can get with our first pick.
If the Vikings want a QB of the future, they need draft capital.
Whether it’s 2024 or beyond.
I think you have a reasonable take here. Sooner or later, got to build up the trenches.
Why would you want to create another hole to fill by letting a top 5 QB walk? Makes no sense. Use that talent and experience to teach and develop a young guy. I don’t know why that is so hard to understand.
Better odds doing that than a shot in the dark with a 1st rd qb and then end up with another Ponder. Invest in the lines, have faith you’ll find your QB of the future to steer the ship. Keep you top 5 QB and to teach and play and compete.
You’ll have your lines in better shape in 3 yrs and be a better team only needing a QB if your young guy doesn’t work out. You can sign the top FA if your team is one player away.
Way better option than throwing draft picks at one of the lowest success positions in sports.
So, just rewatched Jordan Ta’amu’s XFL highlight reel.
Observations:
More of a passer than Lance, but not afraid to run it. Decent speed and some elusiveness.
Very quick and decisive in the Red Zone – many TDs happen with the WR/TE just barely over the goal line.
Good touch on his throws, leads the target well (of course these were the highlights, so they all looked good).
Not adverse to threading the needle.
Thoughts:
Better than Lance, much better than Hall, and might be better than Mullins – certainly more mobile than Mullins.
Would like to see a healthy dose of him tomorrow. Potential to be QB2 once he learns the playbook.
He looks like he has a lot of intangibles…not sure if he’s any more accurate than Lance because you can’t tell in these games with the level of competition being what it is. Windows are huge to throw in and defensive coverages are nowhere near as complex as the NFL. I think they’re very similar but it’s what’s between the ears that makes the difference. I mean just look how smart KOC is, dude is really self aware, smart and a quick thinker and even he couldn’t cut the mustard being accurate enough in the NFL. Its a big ask for a young 20 yr old to be successful at this level.
I got lots of intangibles too.
I should play in the NFL.
If he were better than all those other QBs he wouldn’t be playing in the XFL. He sucks and will be cut.
Warren Moon, Joe Theismann, Jeff Garcia, Doug Flutie, Joe Kapp, Steve Young, Jim Kelly, Gary Zimmerman, Nate Newton, Anthony Carter, Reggie White, Herschel Walker all suck too, I guess.
All scrubs from the CFL and USFL.
You forgot perhaps the most famous QB scrub of all time…….
Kurt Warner
LOL. He was the first I thought of, then forgot.
Don’t get old.
Too late for me….
Comparing the XFL to the to those leagues, especially the USFL, which paid players more at that time than the NFL, is like comparing Mariah Carey to Black Chris Christie.
He’s not making the roster or the PS. Zero chance. He’s just a body for tomorrow and then he’s gone.
Skol and happy Friday!
Weekend!! Football begins!! LFG!
Hey MT,
Headed your way for some High School football tonight. Fall is in the air.
What pets are tastiest?
Pigs of course!
I’d never be able to have a pet pig, if someone gave me one it’d be straight to the butcher shop
Oh you must be a BC fan? I’ll probably be at the game a little later, going to a buddy’s retirement party first.
My son is a sophmore, this is his first trip with the Varsity team. Probably won’t play very much, but I’m going anyway.
BC will probably be up 45-0 in the third quarter, he’ll probably get lots of late game snaps. Position?
Just sat through Lance’s college highlight reel.
Observations:
40% of his highlights were designed QB runs – Decent speed but not elite speed – his ground production will be significantly lower in the NFL with speedy defenses. His success in college wasn’t because of being able to cut and juke, he simply outran the slower defenders.
The majority of his completions were to targets with the closest defender nowhere in sight. Only a small handful of threading the needle or dropping the ball over a shoulder where the DB couldn’t touch it.
Most of the plays he had all day to stand back there and wait for the WR to come WFO.
Thoughts:
He’d get killed behind our OL.
No WR in the NFL gets THAT wide open where he would be comfortable throwing.
Pricetag would not be worth his production.
I think this 2nd clip below shows the potential he has reading a defense and fitting tight throws in. Doesn’t me he will develop that but maybe he will and if he does then the athletic talents he has become a bonus he can build around. He’s worth the risk for a day 3 pick.
Decent throws for sure. Did you watch the Ta’amu highlight reel I posted the other day?
I did not…accurate?
Yes….see above.
Any more rumors on Trey Lance? I am meh on this. but he would be worth a 4th rd pick. I wish KAM would focus more on the interior O-Line.
They say everyone has a blind spot, seems KAM’s may be IOL.
Rick had the same blind spot for the most part lol.
Rick had a blind spot on the oline for 10 years.
Rick just grabbed tackles and made them guards.
I’m not sure he even knew there was a difference.
That doesn’t work???
“Honey, I got you flowers!”

That looks good. I’d rather have a smoothie than flowers.
That was the most frustrating thing about Rick. Did it with OL and DBs as well
He drafted some guards too, they just happened to suck also.
At this point, I don’t know why any team would give up a draft pick for a guy SF has as the #3 QB.
I thought a 4th rounder might be about right too.
I don’t see Trey becoming an average NFL QB.
Last time I really liked a QB in the draft, it was some guy named Jalen Hurts.
Thank god we passed on that guy.
Like this on golf much better than the earlier one.
The GOAT does tend to ruffle feathers.
As a golfer, always found the Williams’ one absolutely hilarious.
As someone who doesn’t enjoy golf… I loved Carlin’s, also I love George lol. Ever heard his comparison of football and baseball? So good. I am probably butchering this but something like if football you have LONG BOMBS!!!! In baseball you run home! In football you BLITZ USING HAND VIOLENCE!!!! In baseball you make sure you’re safe. Haha, again I probably have some of that wrong but you get the idea.
Yup. You butchered it. Forgiven. RIP Georgie!
I know I did, but the idea is there.
George Carlin had the best takes on Politics and sports.
Loved how he realized that we are rooting for shirts.
Once a guy changes shirts, he is bad.
Love this! LOL!
Can’t say anything better today than what I posted yesterday with reasoning to take a shot with Lance. Nothing’s changed.
And NDR congratulations on great round of golf – well done.
Gm.
who wouldn’t agree?
Boot lickers would disagree with his quote.
😂
Ah yes, the Franklin years of Presidency.
That was from…….uh……..18……uh…….hmmmmm.
A good quote, but never a President. However, he was a great statesman.
Didn’t play this, but Ben Franklin was never President…
I see
I am fine if the Vikings trade for Lance. It really does not matter to me who the third string QB is since Kirko is made of steel.
I do think Lance is better than Hall, and has more upside.
If the Vikings traded for Lance they’d dump Mullens
I am fine with that as well. Mullens is less inspiring than any QB on the roster, and low bar is low.
Yeah, what’s even sadder is he’s the best backup the Vikings have had since Case Keenum’s big balls.
I am not for or against trading for Trey Lance. He’s a good kid, my son played against him in high school sports, basketball and baseball. All around, he is a good athlete, but I am not sold on him being a starting NFL QB. I thought SF was out of their minds giving up what they did for him.
By the way, in a three year span (1 year above and 1 year after my son), Marshall had 6 D1 and 2 D2 athletes on their baseball, football and basketball teams. One was a 2 sport athlete at UoM (baseball and football), and 2 ended up in the NFL.
Considering Lance is 2 yrs younger than Hall and has played like 5 college games and 4 pro games, we should expect him to still be raw, he’s still a kid.
This is all about development, the situation he finds himself in as he is maturing. I think he was in a decent situation in San Fran but entirely too much pressure the way it played out for him to develop.
I personally think this is a golden opportunity to get a potential talent and future QB we’ve always been looking for.
As an example…watch what Jordon Love does in Greenbay. I believe he is set up to succeed not fail. He may not be as good as Favre or Rodgers naturally and that should be the expectation but watch him get better, and better. Why? Because he’s had time to develop and not also have the pressure to run a pro style offense at such a young age.
We see it with all of these QB’s, Fields, Purdy, all in dialed down offenses trying to not do too much but just enough to win games. I wouldn’t overpay for Lance, no more than a 5th rd pick, but whether San Fran is ready to finally cut bait remains to be seen.
“

Yahoo Sports looks at six teams who may have interest in Trey Lance. The Vikes are at the top of the list. Make it happen.”
GM. TGIF!!
The great fall sport weekends begin!
Tour Championship is in full swing, the field has tightened up which brings all our favorite players in striking distance. I’m rooting for Rory who overcame a lower back issue, nearly had to pull out before the tournament even started but gutted out an even round to be 3 shots back.
College Football kicks off Saturday with a great opener Notre Dame at home against Navy. Sam Hartman ND QB and transfer in from GTech is my favorite college QB prospect coming out in 2024.
Hey Lifer…shot an 84 yesterday. No doubles, 6 pars. 7 Greens in Regulation.
Hit everything O.K. nothing great. But no “What the Hell was That?” Shots.
Wow great round!! That is the exact round I’m looking for but am stuck 6 or more strokes worse which is nothing over 18 holes just a multitude of simple mistakes I can’t seem to overcome. Time for you to try and break 80 now!
I tired to play golf last night. Par on the first two holes, then the wheels fell off like Kirk vs a tough defense and I shot 55 for 9 holes.
stupid game, and stupid me for expecting anything better when I have not played in almost two weeks.
I haven’t played for a couple of months, been busy finishing up a couple of big projects. I am going to give it a try tomorrow, I don’t think it will be a good round.
Biggest change for me this season has been that work is too busy for me to practice. Last season I saw a lot of improvement, and actually was beating 100 most days. This year, I only get to play once or twice per week, and I have not been to the range in months.
Still golfing tonight, and over the weekend. I just really need to lower my expectations.
It really is about recognizing what current phase you’re in, in relation to swinging a golf club and executing good contact consistently. You haven’t been able to practice to keep that neurological connection and feel to ensure good contact consistently or even semi consistently as most of us amateurs have. So you need to recognize that and do the simple things that will help you improve your contact neurologically, or your eye / hand coordination and timing to improve contact.
Quick fixes you can do….
Slow down, work on a counting tempo when swinging back and through…NVF and I use ALA (backswing) BAMA (downswing). It is basically a 3 count swing, ala is two syllables back, bama is one full syllable (even though its 2 syllables do it as one) down and through. This is a timing exercise you can do in your head as you swing. It will help eliminate jerky moves and slashes at the ball and will help get your hands, arms, shoulders and hips in coordinating and aligned back and through the swing.
Swing easier, take the tension out of your arms and let the club do the work. Easy way to do this is grip pressure. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the tightest think that as you’re gripping the club and think the number 4 and translate that feel in your hands in to your forearms and try and execute a relaxed swing.
Do a couple practice swings before each hit practicing the grip feel and the ALA-BAMA swing tempo in your head and you will make better contact giving you eyes / hands and neurological system these queues to assist them.
I say Alabama in my head when I putt too. Keeps the stroke rhythmical and not rushed. I see a lot of people who “hit” their putts rather than stroke them. Also, always keep the putter head as close to the ground as you can on the backstroke. Don’t pick it up.
Good tip. But not sure it will work for everyone. i just think everyone has there own natural tempo and that is where they should play from. For example, Tom watson had a very quick tempo, but if you asked him, he’d say it was “neutral”.
For me, you can swing no faster than your ability to control the club face. And right before impact is the entire game – the golf ball only knows the club face.
Just a thought.
Oh and on putting. I believe 9 out of 10 am’s will deaccelerate the putter if you tell them back and forth same tempo. Might be better to think accelerate thru impact.
Agin, just a thought.
Yes that is where I’m at with my putting. If I just commit to the line and let the putter head go through and finish with a good follow through then I tend to hit on line better. The problem and challenge with putting is that works great 10 feet or farther out, on shorter putts I tend to do better just easing it up there but trying to distance the putt about a foot past the hole.
A little trick with this – don’t take it back as far. Believe you will always keep the line better with acceleration thru the ball. Just don’t be sudden and jerky.
From 10 to 12 feet in, I’m basically trying to roll the ball no more than a foot past the hole. I try to “feel” that with my eyes and hands before I stroke the putt.
Good tips. I actually only missed one drive a bit left. Driver and putter both working well. Everything else was rough last night. One of those days.
I tried golf last night… didn’t care for it haha!
Love Carlin, LOL!
He literally changed the game. Have you seen this. Such a beautiful speech about him and how he changed everything.
Thank you for sharing. I had not seen this. A touching speech.
