I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. The temps are climbing here in ND, with highs in the 90s all week. It’s the last week of baseball for the rookie division, which is a bit sad. I REALLY had a great time coaching the kiddos again this year, they’re so much fun.
We finished episode 6 of “Quarterback” last night. I don’t have much new to say other than what I’ve already said. Kirk is a good dude and works hard at being a good QB, it’s sad to watch Mariota’s season/career dying, and Mahomes is a really good quarterback.

Dammit I wanted to see Carter do some work early. Fucking injuries.
So doc says my symptoms rationally lead to kidney issues of some sort, but dehydration and out of control diabetes management could have caused these kidney filtration problems. They took four more vials of blood from me and said they would solicit the test results from the hospital as well. They took a urine sample as well and confirmed I have glucose and proteins as well as blood in it. the hospital samples revealed my diabetes was not under control, but there was no blood in my urine.
Tomorrow I have to schedule CT scans of my lower abdomen and kidneys. I am on a bland diet, and have been directed to stop drinking 6 to 8 cups a coffee and 3 to 4 glasses of ice tea a day as well. The doc thinks I’m drinking too many diuretics and not enough water. That, coupled with me consuming large bowls of ice cream almost every night the last couple months, could be at the heart of this. I don’t know what got me started on the ice cream kick, but it’s blowing my diabetes up.
My wife was not aware of my late night ice cream treats. I’m in trouble with the law now.
Don’t sound real bad. Yeah, don’t get on her bad side, that’d be problematic.
Oh I got an earful when I came home. She plans my meals, cooks everything from scratch, reminds me to take my meds, etc, etc, etc. “What part of I don’t want you to die do you not understand?”
I think you deserve a good beating if it wouldn’t make your health situation worse. You’re diabetic???? You can’t power feed ice cream man!
I will say…..damn bowl of ice cream after dinner is like crack. I’ve been on a slice of apple pie with 4 scoops of ice cream and I have to fight myself to not do it every night and keep it to a couple times a week.
Better straighten up solider or the Mrs might turn in to Kathy Bates and I wouldn’t blame her.

Hope you’re all better soon. I do know some folks that didn’t take their diabetes seriously enough when they were younger, but as they aged, it became a big deal. Honestly though, it would be really hard for me to give up certain foods, so I get it.
We have a nursing home resident who ignored all medical advice regarding her DM. Now she’s a double leg amputee, and missing parts of multiple fingers on each hand.

Minnesota Vikings receiver Jordan Addison said he was driving 140 mph last weekbecause his dog was having an emergency at home, according to a citation filed Monday with the Ramsey County District Court and reviewed by ESPN.
The updated citation included misdemeanor charges for speeding and reckless driving. A description of the incident issued by the Minnesota State Patrol notes that Addison “stated his dog was having an emergency at his residence and that was the reason for his speed.”
So you went to the story and posted clearly that the dog was at home and not with him.

Not really “real” football related, but I had to tune in a couple of weeks ago to see if the Edmonton “Elks” could tie the record for losses at home. Indeed they did lose their 20th consecutive game at home, they have not won at Commonwealth Stadium since October 12, 2019. 0-7 for the year, they could easily go the season without a win.
Just pathetic, announced attendance was north of 10,000 but a lot of those are tickets that were sold for a flat $90 valid until they win their first home game. I bet there were less than 5,000 fans in the 65,000 seat stadium.
A far cry from their historic days as the flagship team of the CFL, winning 5 championships in a row with Warren Moon as the QB, packing the stadium.
Some might say that their woes coincided with the decision to submit to the city council and mayoral request to change the historic “Eskimos” name to the “Elks”. Hmmm. Go woke go broke CFL style? Probably just a coincidence but still makes me chuckle.

Thanks MT… I was experiencing severe cramps, nausea, excessive burping, and shortness of breath after eating last week and went to the ER to get checked out. They said it was probably functional dyspepsia. I’ve just eaten very bland foods since, and the pain and other symptoms aren’t too much of a problem now.
This morning my urine was extremely dark, almost black. the second time I urinated it was red.

My wife is not real happy with me, but she’s already put the coffee maker in the cupboard and ice cream is off the the menu forever. She’s mad I was sneaking ice cream late at night.

Yeah, me either. Herbert is a bona fide top shelf QB (IMO) but in 2022 he only threw 25 TD’s, a significant drop from 2021 when he threw 38. Not sure what happened with the Chargers last year to cause that.

Well sure the mental level on this current Vikings team for the QB is high stress and constantly overcoming a negative point differential because your defense is a sieve.
You put Cousins on a team with a top 10 defense and have a more favorable complimentary defense to offense dynamic Cousins produces more than enough mental effectiveness, control and pure results to win a SB.
To say he can’t win a SB because he lacks the mental fortitude is ridiculous. You don’t own the record in one score games and comebacks the way he did last year and say he lacks the mental strength to get a ring. That’s complete horseshit.
Cousins performs as well or better than any other QB in league “when the shit hits the fan”. When you’re down 33-0 at the half, I’d say that’s the shit hitting the fan. When it’s 4th and 18 and your down to your last play losing to the Bills, I’d say that’s the shit hitting the fan. Cousins has led scoring drives late in games many times in his career, but unfortunately his defense choked many of those games away with less than two minutes to play. I think Cousins is as clutch a QB as there is.

It is one of the best divisions. They might finish last but they will still win 8 or 9 games at least. Unlike the NFCN, pretty mediocre division all around.

I had the pleasure of driving into Fargo at 5:15 pm on a weekday…oh so much delightful construction on 94 and 29…I took that merge from 94 to 29N (349B) that I have taken dozens of times in the past in my little motorhome and saw my life pass in front of my eyes as a big assed car hauler took the opportunity to exit right directly in front of me at the merge from 29 to 94E squeezing me against the guard rail as I watched in horror a cement truck barreling for the same exit directly behind me and I got to pop left like a popcorn kernel with my nimble van conversion into a solid wall of fast moving cars.
We did enjoy Brewhalla, cool place.
Even with all the construction in Bismarck, I would choose to drive 10,000 times in Bismarck over Fargo. It has gotten so busy there at rush hour and you simply find yourself in situations that no matter how defensively you drive you have to trust that you’re not going to get rammed by merging and exiting traffic.
I don’t know how people who live there don’t get ulcers.

My son from Bismarck visited me and wanted to drive as he had recently gotten his license. We were in LA driving on the I-10 during rush hour.

Heh, Brad and kfey will like this, we came back through Bismarck and had some time to kill before my wife’s hair appointment downtown. It was hot as blazes so we drove into the tree streets just north of downtown/Rosser…some nice homes up there and we picked a shady spot to park the RV, started the generator and fired up the A/C while we sat and shared a Blizzard. I could tell the people in the neighborhood were horrified, thought we were setting up for an urban campout, shoulda deployed the awning and set out the lawn chairs.

From 2018 – 2022 Cousins salary cap hit was $136,583,334. The next closest QB during that period was Aaron Rodgers at $131,501,136. As a top 8 – 15 QB in the league, depending upon your view, that is about as “above market” as it gets.
I admit – I don’t know didly squat about cap.
But I read and heard Dallas was paying Dak $70 million last year. that’s a lot of real money for a QB that is about at the same level.
Daks’ contract is messy.
He’s getting about 40 million a year on average, but his cap hits range from 20 million – 60 million a year. Plus, they added void years which is the proverbial can getting kicked down the road.

So instead of paying Cousins $36M for two years, he paid him almost $44M. In 2018, Cousins’ franchise tag would have exceeded $33M and Allen was beat. He tried to under value Cousins for three years and refused the two good deals he was offered. He let Cousins walk and brought in Alex Smith.
When Cousins came to the Vikings he was offered more money by the Jets. So he didn’t take the most money he possibly could. Throughout his years with Vikings he’s restructured his deals to provide cap space as requested as well.
While DE and Mick will exclaim nobody knows what the Cousins camp offered KAM, it was widely reported it was under market value, and KAM basically rejected it because it wasn’t “flexible” enough.
Cousins isn’t stupid, and he is a very, very good QB. His current market value this year is $43M. He won’t be with the Vikings next year for sure.

So he sits back there, waiting for his receivers to make their moves and get to wherever they decide they’re going before he can get the ball to them. Brilliant. Also, KOC has a love affair going with JJ. He’s forcing the ball to him which results in Cousins somewhat consistently throwing into double, and even triple coverage. This was Thielen’s beef with the offense last year.

Have you ever woken up at night to take a leak and been so disoriented you can’t find the bathroom? I don’t know if it is because my sleep schedule is messed up or what, but last night I woke up and thought I was in a foreign country and I didn’t know where the bathroom was. I was feeling along the wall to find the door to the bedroom and then I couldn’t find the bathroom (it is about 3 steps from the bedroom door). I was dancing I had to pee so bad. I finally found a light switch and as soon as the light came on it must have woke me up enough that I new where I was. I ran those last few steps to the bathroom.

I’m old. I’m up at least twice a night. The disorientation is pretty rare however. Of course one night several years ago I scared my wife and daughter because I must have been mostly asleep as I headed to the bathroom and as reached for the bathroom door, I missed and ended up falling over and knocking some stuff off the wall. Both of them came running to see what happened.

I am 60 in a couple weeks. Every year the doc asks me how many times I get up to urinate. None yet.

I believe they will play somewhere, it may not be until a team loses their RB to injury.
Cook, if not signed by the start of the season, will more than likely sign with the Vikings, if the rumor of there being an offer on the table is true.
Regarding Cook, if he is not at the start of camp for vets the Vikings will not be offering him a spot in 2023. That sends the wrong message to the team and commitment to Mattison.
Jacobs I believe will play and the Raiders will give him a contract he is willing to sign.
