Man, it has been a LONG week, it’s taken forever for Friday to get here, but it’s finally here. Anyone have big plans for the long weekend? We have several graduation parties to attend (briefly), but not much on the schedule besides that. We may go for a short kayak trip on Saturday, and I’m guessing I’ll have the smoker going at least once over the weekend.

The Braves offense is carrying the team while the pitching staff is banged up. Austin Riley hit two gigantic home runs, and the Braves beat the Phillies 8-5. The win moves the team’s record to 31-19, let’s hope some pitchers start coming off of IR soon.
From the Duluth News-Tribune, KJ Osborne is playing with a chip on his shoulder this year. I wonder how big the chip is? If it’s too big, it could interfere with KJ’s ability to see or catch the ball. Also, how heavy is the chip? Will it slow KJ down? Man, drafting a WR in the first round was the right decision, considering this latest development.
The New England Patriots have been docked two OTAs for violating CBA practice rules, according to FoxSports. Geez, the reduced practices were the only concession the NFLPA got in the most recent CBA, and the Pats don’t even want to give them that.
From SI, Brian Flores is helping the defense find its identity. They had an identity last year, it was “crappy defense”. Let’s hope they choose a better one this year.

I think KAM and KOC have keeping Cousins as a very distinct possibility if not a likely probability. You do the math there just isn’t a better option out there via rookie or FA.
Well, I think there are some other forces at play here. KAM is NEVER going to write a player friendly contract. That no trade clause is a show stopper. He also will never fully guarantee a contract either. This is all about the teams ability to control the player and use them to their advantage.
Cousins won’t sign a contract without a no trade clause and guaranteed money. Thus there won’t be another contract next year. In my opinion of course.
Who’s to say whether or not Cousins will agree to waive the no trade clause so he can stay where he wants for 3-4 more years? He bets on himself knowing there isn’t a better choice.
This goes way back to his Redskins days. Bruce Allen routinely screwed over players with low ball contracts that the team could walk away from any time they wanted. It was a contract in name only and the player was powerless. Cousins never let Allen do that to him, even though Allen tried every trick in the book. He’ll never let a team own him.
They could have made it a post June 1 cap transaction.

In a country founded on free speech, this is a headline from a major news station…
In a country founded on free speech kids are forced to pledge allegiance. In a country founded on freedom of speech people don’t understand that kneeling during the anthem or burning the flag is an exercise of that free speech. We can do lots of examples of this. The crazy part is the vast majority get upset about the restricting of free speech only when it’s a restriction on their side. They don’t understand freedom goes both ways. I am not saying I would encourage anyone to not say the pledge or take a knee either, I already know that’s how some dumb dumbs are going to take this post. People have to start understanding that you if you are for any kind of restriction of free speech like the right thinks you should be forced at gun point (hyperbole) to stand for the National Anthem and the left thinks you should be thrown in jail for “hate speech”… then you are just in favor of censorship in general.
A sensible take. But something must be foundational. If my freedom of speech is grounded in bill of rights and the constitution why should anyone have a problem pledging allegiance to that.

We are a country of extremes. We swing too far right and whenever you swing too far one way it becomes disgusting and corrupt. So the right that there is a push to left and we swing waaaaay too far left and it becomes corrupt and disgusting so we then swing back to the right.
It’s just another example of why I hate identity politics so much and why it’s killing our country. The wrong-headed as you put it get supported by their side to act out and be over the top and stomp on people’s rights. My point here is remember both sides are guilty of this, and it’s disgusting on both sides.

Sounds like a good weekend. I am packing up and we are headed to the mountains for a few days of no cell service, emails, etc. Just four wheelers, hiking, maybe find some mushrooms, campfires and whatever else we come up with.
I’m going put those grandkids to work helping with chores. Of course since they are 2 and 5, that generally just means more work for me. I’m going to do some watering this evening and those grandkids may just accidentally get sprayed a few times also.

Some interesting thoughts below on state of team. Interesting takes on our tackles – elite or very good. The problem, I think, is that line play isn’t quite additive. You can have four sensational block, ONE whiff, and the play is screwed. On the other hand, five average blocks can easily produce a good play.
Our guards just aren’t where we need them to be if we are to have an elite offense. Now, if they would just improve a little bit, believe we could get there.
Ingram could easily have a large jump this year. I mean, couldn’t get much worse. Bradbury is pass pro is just such a liability. I do think mentally though he helps those guards around him with making all the correct calls.
The only thing I feel is sick. 🤮🤮🤮

That’s been the assumption he’s poised to jump to the next HC job but I believe he’s a lot more strategic as we saw him passing on the shit show in AZ. They’ll be 3-5 HC openings next yr…usually is. I think he has his eye on a specific job and has already had conversations with a ownership team not ready to make the full transition away from a current coach. New England would be my guess.

I want a lot of things. But in general I keep my mouth shut about such things and enjoy the attainable and moment at hand.

First of all, we’re all miserable Vikings fans. We dont have a bowl. Second I dont complain about being a Vikings fan, I complain about Kirk as our QB. You take a very weird personal offense to that like he’s your lover or relative. Thats on you not me. My fandom isnt tied to Kirk, yours is. Take a look in the mirror. Never tell me to cheer for another team again.

I’m a Vikings fan, and I’m not miserable at all. They went 13-4 last year and there were a couple games they won that could have been the game of the year or decade, or more. They had exciting game after exciting game.
This is sports entertainment… and I was very entertained.
I enjoy my life and the ride im on, just like I enjoy every football Sunday during the season. I can do that, and also have higher expectations and criticisms. Soooooo, live in la la land 24/7 …orrr, be realistic?

As Surly said, the fact that Kirk was shutdown by a terrible team shows the real issue the Vikings have.

And as HunViking said, so did the whole team in first half. Yet, we had the greatest comeback in NFL history and Kirk threw for 460 and 4 TD’s. Rather than enjoy it as others here have done, you choose to use it as a means to disparage Cousins.
And you choose it as a meaningless point to prop up Cousins.
At the end of the day, the only people who will remember this game are Vikings and Indy fans.
