Twinkies managed to come back from 4-0 to get it into extra innings.
Closer came in for the 10th, threw 19 pitches, gave up 4 hits and 4 runs.
But he did manage to get 1 out so he had that going for him, which was nice.

Cine will actually cost us $5,407,155 in 2024 cap space. According to over the cap.
His $3.1 Guaranteed salary and an additional $2.3 million from 2025 on his rookie contract.

Yeah, but that won’t happen until he clears waivers at which point he is UFA. I’d be stunned if some GM pays him $5.4 million after 4 years of his NFL tape.

Here’s hoping that happens!!

Moral of the story, follow my lead and stop with the jerseys. My wife bought me an AD jersey and he was suspended within a month. Then she bought me a Teddy jersey and his knew exploded a couple days later (yes, my birthday is at the end of August, tomorrow to be precise).I have since banned all family from buying new jerseys so my Packer fan dad has threatened to buy a Jets and now a JJ. Luckily he is nice and wouldn’t do that.

Couldn’t even get a 7th for the former 1st rounder.
Slick would gotten at least that much, it might have been ‘conditional’ though.
Maybe teams didn’t want the salary and so waited until he was cut and would chance the wavier process.

Haha, this is funny. Not effective if you have half a brain, or don’t vote based on funny nothings of campaign adds. There are lots of reasons to not vote for Harris and Walz but just saying the word Bidenomics isn’t one of them. If it’s the lying and overselling something bad from your side then you would really hate Trump.

What lie is that? Are you saying a nothing filled ad where they just say Bidenomics actually means something? It doesn’t, do an add saying what Biden has done to hurt the economy which I agree he has. I just don’t think a buzz word in an add means something is effective. I don’t get swayed by a cool buzz word. My bad.

Really? What’s poignant about it? Did the add offer anything to say actually anything actual policy or thing a Biden policy did to hurt the economy? Because if not our definition of poignant is different. Again, I am not saying to vote for Harris, just saying the add is silly and funny but I don’t call that effective as a means to get me to vote. It’s pretty shallow.

My exact words: “Not effective if you have half a brain” saying if you have half a brain it’s not effective but if you don’t have half a brain it is. People just get so defensive of their side it’s scary how trained these dogs are on both sides. It is truly super scary.

I’m just saying it has nothing to do with one side or the other and 90% of the population is too stupid to dig into politics any deeper than these ads and that is most definitely what they make their political decisions based on. Not everything is about one side or the other.

Edgecrusher71

I can see what you are saying there. I am saying people would be more likely to at least try and think critically if they weren’t so brain washed. Yup. I wonder why we are in the state we are in. I got someone trying to argue that an add just saying a word and then showing a politician lying about the state of that word while supporting the guy who will literally say anything to get elected lying right through his teeth makes sense. Again, again, again. There are so, SO many reasons to not vote for Harris and Walz, but just saying Bidenomics and then Harris saying Bidenomics is good isn’t one of them.

Thank you, this is what I was kind of getting at. This is not effective if you actually think and think about the add. If you are a lap dog for your side who doesn’t hold the ability to think critically about your side or in general, then it’s super McAwesome! This is what frustrates me, I know many of my friends that are Dems or Repubs aren’t just void of critical thinking they just have made politics a religion and their side is infallible and the other side is Satan incarnate.

bowbunch

It’s not even about being ingrained to one side or the other. People are stupid and remember sound bites like this and will absolutely make a decision of who to vote on based on something like this. No different than the people who will decide against Sheehy here because somebody made an ad that says he’s a bad rich out of stater who wants to take away public access to public lands. 90% of people will not look up the facts. They will just go by the ad and not figure out how it was twisted and is a lie.

I think the add is quite effective in talking about how the economy has fared under the administration that she is a part off. It uses her own words to talk about how bad the economy is under her administration, and then uses her own words to say how proud she is of the economy her administration has created.

It is not a nothing ad, it is brilliant.

Edgecrusher71
Reply to  NoDakRube
27 August 2024 2:49 pm

Haha what? Of course you do, just like Dems think an add that just says, Orange Man Bad is a good. Both sides are the same.

The add said NOTHING about anything Biden has done to affect the economy NOTHING. If all that matters is how the economy faired under an administration with no context then every Dem gets to point to the economy during Covid and say Trump’s economy was bad. I know nothing like that has happened on Biden and the economy has still suffered but tell us why, give us some piece of data. But that is just me, again just a silly word doesn’t do it for me.

You don’t get to be upset about her saying she’s proud about something that she actually has no business being proud up. Drumming up and inflating things to make herself and side look better is something Trump is a grand wizard at!

manly-purple
Reply to  Edgecrusher71

It’s a short ad. If it explained in detail why Biden’s policies have failed our economy, people would tune it out. You’re making it seem like there is no explanation from the right about the bad policies. There’s plenty. This is simply a quick ad that gets straight to the point in revealing Harris’ lies.

Gotta love my small town TSC store. We’re changing out another 1/4 mile of fence pulling down POS chicken wire and old wooden posts, putting in t-posts and 4 strand barb wire. I was planning on getting t-posts but my wife’s ex found a stash of several hundred so just needed to get wire and the clips that hold the wire on the posts. I called around, cheapest I found was rolls of wire for $104 apiece at a local hardware store. TSC said they would match that price, I then asked what they would charge for 250 clips (normally you get clips gratis when you buy t-posts) and they said they would “work something out” when I said (local steel company) sells them in bags of 25 for $2. My wife went down to get the wire and she told me they gave her “a bag” of clips with the 4 rolls of wire…turns out “a bag” in this case was 1000 clips. Gratis.

I have their cc so I like to shop there and get points to offset the diabolical cost of feeding two labs.

A violent Venezuelan prison gang known as Tren de Aragua has spilled into Aurora, Colorado, despite the fact that the city wanted “no part” in welcoming so-called “asylum seekers” as a result of President Joe Biden’s open border policies.

According to a report from the New York Post, Aurora has a population of 390,000 residents. Now, it’s become the base of operations for the gang, which has seized apartment complexes and instigated a crime wave.

Mark Zuckerberg is admitting to censoring information on his major social media platform after heavy pressure from the Biden-Harris administration.

In a letter written to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan and published Monday, Zuckerberg expressed regret for helping the Biden-Harris administration eliminate factual information about the COVID-19 pandemic from the internet. This included stories about the lab leak theory and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines. He also admits to burying factual stories about Hunter Biden’s laptop during the 2020 presidential election.

Facebook, and Zuckerberg, knew too. Be it Covid, be it the Biden Crime family, they knew all along.

Read an interesting account recently, a former employee of Facebook in Germany spilled the beans on how the censorship was set up as company policy. They were told to not even tell their parents or close relatives what they were doing at Facebook censor HQ. And they are still doing it, to this very day.

I don’t disagree, him saying that ‘they make their own choices’ was giving cover to FJB in any lawsuits.

He also said that they originally resisted the Gov’s efforts and they got ‘quite frustrated’ with them. Yeah, no company is going to hold up to that for very long.

One time several years ago this happened.
Was home on a Saturday and two FBI agents knocked and asked to talk. Said they were gathering information about a guy that I knew but hadn’t seen for several years. Thus most of my answers were no or have no idea. And then out of clear blue one agent asked when was the last time I got audited on my income taxes. And I said what? he said you heard me.
And that’s how things go , They have unlimited power.

So my goal this summer was to get under a 30 minute 5K. I did it right before going on vacation and I was fucking miserable and went… why am I pushing this shit this hard? Having a competitive spirit it did help motivate me to get where I am but I don’t need to be killing myself to be healthy ya know? Lol. So like I ran a 5K yesterday, as I do most Mondays with a 10:05 pace. Good enough for me. Doing this for my health, not to win some competition. But overall good. I was doing my DDPY every morning for 35-55 minutes, then afternoons was Monday 5K, Tuesday Kettle Bell routine, Wednesday upper body ego lifts, Thursday 2 Mile, Friday 3.5 mile. Last week Chiropractor shut me down on the kettle bells. Slightly pinched a nerve in my SI joint with all the hip movements from those kettle bells haha.

App is roughly 130ish dollars for the year. Equipment, a yoga matt is all you need. Now having a yoga block if you need help with stability is nice to have. As I may have said before and as a life time runner, if I had to do it over it would be intervals. Like at first 75 yards at 75% and then walk for 100 or so yards. And repeat for as long as you want. Believe this is easier, less taxing, more fun and will yield better results.
Don’t know what DDPY is, but afternoon lifting like push/pull/legs day work well for most folks.
I don’t like kettle bell swings either – young man’s game.

Plus you can’t tell me that the president taking three weeks of vacation at high fallootin’ beachside venues isn’t part of a package – the deal must have been to let him stay in power with minimal responsibility and two weeks after the inauguration a few hundred million dollars will go into his presidential library fund.

My brother and I came up with an idea for president; you vote for a Vice President to be the future President. So you would have a standing President and every 4 years you vote for the VP. Said elector would operate as the VP for 4 years and then take over as President for 4 years. This way the person to hold the office learns all of the intricacies of being President before he takes office.

So could you go thru the process 2xs since you are allowed to be President twice?
Could you be VP, then President, then VP again and back to President?

Our other idea was to vote for both the President and Vice President. So you could have both a republican and a democrat. It think we came up with this when Bush Chenney first ran. I actually liked Lieberman over Chenney.

True story….yesterday afternoon a coworker of mine was visibly upset about something going on in his personal life…I mean highly agitated.

Because I am a caring boss, I slapped a blood pressure monitor on him. His BP was high for him 146 over 86. I told him he needed to calm down, and we poured a couple of whiskeys and talked it over. After an hour of that therapy I took his BP again…127 over 73.

Moral of the story? I am a great boss and whiskey saves lives.

I recently stumbled upon pineapple Fanta. It is surprisingly good.

I would choose a Coke over Pepsi.

Obligatory old man rant, when my 12 and 15 year old grandkids come by they always raid the fridge for one or even two cokes or sprites. I’m all like, “it is hot out there, you need to drink some water not that sugary crap.”

Then I remember when I was 15, I don’t think a drop of water ever crossed my lips. It was all pop and koolaid.

I’m certainly no GM, Junior or not. But if I was trying to improve the team I’d be searching for a solid running game – helps both the offense and defense
And you can’t have a good running game with a solid IOL – guards and center. A good back helps, but blocking comes first.
So, find some guys that can block.

Good question. I only play a GM on TV, so I have to qualify all answers with that.

Personally, I wouldn’t pay a receiver that kind of money. There are so many talented, capable receivers around the league, that I would just move on. There isn’t a receiver in the league who touches the ball on average more than 7 times a game or so, and for me, that’s too little impact to invest too much money into.

I generally agree. You lose a WR, that’s tough. You lose your starting QB, really tough.
And it seems to me they use Lamb a lot out of the slot. I just don’t believe he’s as good as JJ/Chase/Adams on the outside facing a top DB.

No longer New Vikings Fan

In some ways, a top receiver is only as good as the QB they have delivering the ball to them. I agree, that if you lose a good receiver, it’s an impact, but if you lose a good QB, it’s a bigger impact. Washington is now on its 13th starting QB since Cousins left, as an example.

A few notes as the teams release players today:

– the vast majority of these moves will be made by releasing or waiving players. A player with 4 or more years of service is a vested veteran and thus is outright released. Those players can sign with another team ASAP. A non-vested veteran is subject to the NFL’s waiver system

– teams can also reduce their roster by keeping players on the PUP list (e.g. Nick Chubb). These players are ineligible to return to game action any sooner than Week 5

– teams will also be placing players on injured reserve. This year, a new rule is in place: teams may designate up to 2 players placed on IR at the cutdown as eligible to return (after at least 4 games missed). In prior years, a player had to be on the team’s initial 53-man roster for one business day to be eligible to return

– on Wednesday at Noon ET, the league will process waiver claims submitted on any player that was placed on waivers. The priority of the waiver claim order matches the original 2024 NFL Draft order (1. Carolina to 32. Kansas City). The waiver is a useful tool to mine for young, developmental talent
