I’m putting this together during the game. It’s currently 3-3 in the third quarter & Dobbs looks horrible. He’s playing like crap, and his body language would indicate that he’s off, he looks sullen. I hope they find a way to jump start the offense, because this has been one fugly game thus far.
Minnesota Vikings Discussion Topic of the Day
Pretend you’re KOC. Would you consider putting Hall in as QB1 at this point?

Minnesota Vikings News:
Here’s the final score of last night’s game, along with stats and highlights, from CBS Sports.
The Raiders released veteran CB Marcus Peters, per NFL.com.
From ABC, the Panthers have fired HC Frank Reich after only 11 games into his first season as their head coach. The Panthers are 1-10, but there isn’t a ton of talent there to work with. I’m guessing they had reasons.
Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something feel free to ask. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here. Just be civil and cool to one another.
I have a great-niece that puts ketchup on her egg. Now that’s psycho.
Not as psycho as putting it on steak.
On a tube steak, but not a real steak.
I put it on egg sandwhiches like McDonalds sausage mcmuffin with egg.
Did anybody watch the game last night?
I heard it was kind of depressing.
Good things these after dark comments still count or my comment count would be way down.
As long as you are enjoying yourself.
That sounds kind of ribald.
Well ‘After Dark’ often infers a more ‘adult’ type of feel.
My Doom meter was not wrong.
I say we keep the thumbs down. If it makes someone feel better to do that without commenting, I say, whatever.
Besides some of us need the street cred.
There, gave you a little street cred.
Curse of Oak Island is on tonight.
[spoiler title=”Hint”] [they don’t find the treasure]
Spoiler fail??
Obviously… grin… I tried… I failed.
I have yet to manage it either.
IMO: Mullens will get the next start.
KOC had Mullens as the back up, and Hall was only available if both Mullens and Dobbs were hurt.
Pretty obvious who KOC prefers.
Mullens is good at throwing the ball. During his time with the 49ers, he started 16 of the 19 games he appeared in and racked up 4,405 passing yards. That yardage total ranks third all-time in a quarterback’s first 16 starts behind Patrick Mahomes (5,100) and Justin Herbert (4,673).
The downside is while he can throw for a lot of yards and TD’s he has had a penchant for throwing a lot of interceptions. That said, it’s not unusual for young QB’s who like to sling it to throw a lot of interceptions early in their career. Mullens has had plenty of time to work out those flaws in his game.
Timing is everything. Not the best day to consider a QB with a tendency to throw interceptions. Maybe give it a few days. Like the good thrower aspect.
Of the three QB’s on the team, he is the best pure passer.
Correct!
So what. He’s boring. I want exciting. Either something crazy happens or the Vikings crash and burn. I don’t want anything in the middle. No 8-9 records please.
You’re just weird sometimes Bow. Hello? You play to win the game. Being flashy and losing, is still losing.
I want a QB who can play the game.
Last night was as boring as it gets. I can sleep better with even a shitty victory.
For excitement – well I’m getting too old for all of that.
“Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.”
They make a little blue pill to add excitement for us older gents…..so I am told…..
Indeed. Will take winning over exciting at this point. Beating the Raiders 9- 6 is. fine with me at this point, given last night.
And screw that prevent defense!
Seriously, fling it down the field and get the defense on their heels.
Oh, that poem, was that about someone talking about his father – been a long time?
I don’t think so, I think it was about a comment on aging in general, that we should all fight it as hard as we can. I am fond of it, but I never have researched to see if the author had a particular backstory to it.
And I am all about winning, and with our WRs we need a slinger, and I think Mullens is the best we have.
This makes me think of ROdney Dangerfield. Who can name that movie?
back to school
Someone really good looking and highly intelligent said essentially the same thing earlier. In roughly a seasons worth games he’s thrown for 5k yards, 27 tds with 65% comp and about 8 ypa but he’s also thrown 23 picks. He doesn’t fumble like Dobbs though.
Oh? I didn’t know JR was so well-versed on Mullens…
LOVE his ypa! I saw that earlier…he basically is a slinger…should probably get the start…we have the cheetahs to go get it.
Again, I don’t see him every day in practice, but we suck at rushing, and we need a QB who can throw the damn ball. In my opinion, Mullens makes the most sense.
good qualifier, we do not see them in practice so we are to some extent just blowing smoke out of our assess….but what evidence we have seems to point in that direction.
Yep
Yea, not like our running game is going to scare anyone. Get the ball to our playmakers.
Our screen game doesn’t scare anyone right now either, no reason to drop the LBs if the pass isnt going downfield…need a change at QB
So true. Play to our strength.
Agree here.
I like Hall, but we are still in the playoffs right now, and if Mullens gives us the best shot at winning, then play him.
I’ll trust in KOC to make the correct call, and if I had to pick I’d say Mullens gets the nod.
Unless it’s Dobbs.
Then he’s a dummy.
Mannion released from practice squad
Hallelujah!!!
I knew they had to cut someone to make room for JJ, but shouldn’t it be from the active roster??????
I believe N’Keal Harry was on the active roster and was cut.
JJ will take his place on the 53.
Mannion was cut from the PS and I suspect that N’Keal Harry will be signed to that once he clears waivers (or whatever hurdles he has to clear).
Just read this:
As they welcome All-Pro receiver Justin Jefferson back to their active roster, the Minnesota Vikings will spend the next few days deciding which of their three quarterbacks is — among other things — best suited to maximize his skills, coach Kevin O’Connell said Tuesday.
Brilliant…
A question since this doesn’t quite make sense to me. “best suited to maximize his skills”. With JJ coming back, don’t we have one of the best WR group(And TE) in the league?
If so, wouldn’t one try to maximize their talents and put the guy out there that can best deliver the ball to them?
It’s not Mannion. He just got booted from the practice squad
well you mentioned below that Mullens and Hall don’t have the arm talent. And Dobbs, at this point kind of a mixed bag.
Guess that’s why KOC gets the big bucks.
KOC will simply ask JJ “who do you want in there throwing you the ball?” Whoever JJ wants, will get the job.
Easy peasy…
Lacks impressive arm strength, not necessarily arm telent.
Halls draft thingy:
An undersized pocket quarterback with unimpressive arm strength, Hall’s field command gives him a shot to make it at the next level.
He throws with excellent ball placement to targets on the move and delivers a feathery soft deep ball with accuracy.
His lack of drive velocity creates smaller margins for error and his timing needs to be impeccable to beat NFL man coverage.
Hall operates with ideal poise from the pocket. He does an adequate job of reading coverages and getting rid of the ball without taking sacks. The size and arm strength will concern some teams, but offenses operating out of heavy play-action with levels-based route concepts could target him as a solid future backup.
Doesn’t sound bad. I use talent to incorporate all aspects of throwing.
There’s been many QB’s that have been very successful with less than ideal arm strength. Drew Brees comes to mind.
Those reports are a lot like pff grades where you want to watch and confirm.
As far as I can tell, he throws pretty accurate balls and can climb the pocket we’ll.
Poise in the pocket and accurate ball placement will go far.
Fran Tarkington, Joe Montanna, they didn’t have guns.
So the only downside is arm strength… good things these takes are never wrong.
Yeah, look how right they were about Hunter. Physical phenom but can’t get sacks. If he couldn’t get a sack in college, how’s he gonna get any in the NFL.
Yep. Like I said below, you need to treat these like PFF scores.
The preseason game film below hall showed he can climb the pocket and throw accurately.
Whether he can do that over and over in the pros is another question.
How about Morgan?
Yeah, this was a Capt Obvious moment for KOC. Word salad presser as usual.
Cousins threw some balls to JJ while getting smashed in the mouth that were off the charts good, even when JJ was very well covered.
We don’t have another one of those guys on the roster.
I would prefer to see what they have with Hall.
We know what Dobbs can and cannot do.
Same with Mullens. Gotta find out if you have a serviceable QB currently on the roster or not.
Either way, whomever they start will probably get murdered by Crosby
Like Zim said, he sees him in practice every day. The coaches know what they have. Each QB brings different things to the table. Hall is a rookie, and starting him when you need as much competency as possible back there for the stretch run, doesn’t seem like the prudent play to me. Dobbs simply doesn’t have enough time on task, and really has too steep a learning curve to overcome. With those factors considered, Mullens would seem to be the best choice. Again though, KOC sees them every day. I don’t.
This is where we miss Lifer. Someone to give us the clear headed, well thought out practical solution.
how many gummies have you had?
Three beers! After a piss poor defeat, 10 points, need to find humor anywhere.
PS. I’m an alcohol guy.
Me too!!! never touched the “drugs” never will, but I have my share of alcohol!
He sees him in practice every day throwing to WRs who also rarely see any game time. How did Hall look on that second series (up to the point where the ground scrambled his noodle), playing with starters?
It’s Hall playing with scrub receivers vs scrub D backs, but the kid can throw…..or maybe he sucks and we cut him?
https://x.com/AddisonEra2/status/1729558878965117087?t=gLFgP1VGYktG1GMXgnp2Yw&s=19
LET HALL PLAY! LET HALL PLAY!
They did already and he gave himself a concussion…
Yeah but he probably doesn’t remember it, so there’s that.
If he doesn’t remember it, it didn’t actually happen
That is my motto when drinking
If you never let your glass go empty, it counts as 1 beer.
that’s what I live by – especially when it’s hot.
Laughing… nice BSF.
There were a few games I never remembered finishing…
Maybe he learned to slide
I don’t care who we play, but we have to beat the Raiders. We just lost two very winnable games. We cannot lose this one.
Play the QB that gives us the best chance to win.
opponents also see the Vikings handed as very winnable, it’s not like the Vikings are elite
No, but after 5 wins in a row, to include the Niners, folks thought we were back on a roll.
Regardless, we must beat the Raiders.
some folks maybe, but truth is no team is scared of the Vikings and view them as a winnable game
Not right now for sure. 10 friggin points is pathetic.
I’m available…
If you can throw the ball accurately outside the numbers, I’m interested!
Honestly I could never throw the ball more than about 45 yards, but I was pretty accurate.
I had a noodle arm, but I good go and catch it!!
Unfortunately the Vikes are well stocked in that category.
KOC wants to win, and I believe he’ll start whoever he thinks will give him that shot.
I doubt we see Dobbs again, but who knows.
The tape is out on Dobbs. Keep edge rushers wide to keep him in the pocket, and if you get pressure he’ll crack. I was annoyed with the “tape is out” crowd on Twitter regarding Dobbs after one game, but it looks like they were right.
You trap him in the pocket and collapse it, and he becomes a turnover machine.
It also is clear KOC doesn’t trust Dobbs, and for good reason. Dobbs is a TO machine, and it’s killing us.
If Mullens gets the nod, it’s because he deserves it over Hall.
I just like Hall, but will except it.
I heard once that McVay (and KOC) want to run an offense that forces the defense to cover all nine quadrants. To do so, you need the arm talent to do this,
At this point I’m not sure who it is, but KOC needs to figure it out.
QB’s that can make all the “pro throws” at all three levels are not plentiful. Especially under pressure.
Indeed!!!!
Google doesn’t think highly of Mullens or Halls arm strength.
Draft report says Hall has a feather soft deep ball with accuracy.
No idea what that means IRL.
That’s not good.
With accuracy sounds like he would have not missed Addison last night.

Yup.
Going to have to break out the Brain Bleach again.
It felt like that comment was made for the summary
Sometimes we all comment whore for the summary a little…..
I have never had three mentions in the Summary before.
Not sure if I should be proud or ashamed.
Hell, I hardly ever get mentioned, and I got two. I feel proud!
Do you need a Pride Nutcracker from Target??
Proud not Pride.
Proud
Hopefully not ‘Pride Month’ type of proud.
Again not sure if that is better than being a ‘Comment Whore’ or not?
You should be proud. Also try for 2 raccoons.
That’ll get you in it for sure sure.
Hmmmm,
Let me think about it, NO.
You use your definition of Puissance and I will use mine, both are in the dictionary.
IDK about that, I had to look it up and webster told me it was horse thing
Oxford Dictionary has both.
It does list mine as Archaic, but I see it occasionally in novels (which is where I learned it).
😂
I don’t know who created chocolate covered peanuts.
I also don’t know who decided to name them ‘Goobers’
Im grateful to both people as I assume it isn’t the same person. If it is, they should have their face on money.
Sounds like someone has the ‘munchies’.
Can confirm.
chocolate covered peanuts are really good
peanut butter m&m’s are king though
Dark Chocolate Almonds for the win.
my 100 year old grandma agrees with you
Smart Lady!
Yum!
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.
are good, but reeses tree’s, pumpkins and easter eggs are WAY better
Those are ok.
Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups from Traders Joes are even more better IMHO.
YES THIS WAY BETTER
Trader Joes jeez I keep forgetting y’all are big city folk. Nearest Trader Joes over 600 miles away in Denver.
The Teacher feels that the NEED to go to one monthly.
As I am normally with her as her Service Animal I usually pick up a thing or two as I push the cart.
I will be saved from it if there is none in Boise.
peanut butter m&ms are for wankers, peanut m&ms are elite
this sounds like it’s reveresed, you wanker
No peanut butter anything. Only good for use as low grade dog food and I won’t subject my dog to that kind of punishment.
In the south years ago peanuts were called goober peas, maybe they still are. I liked both goobers and raisinettes .
Goobers…never heard them called that. Glosettes? Smarties?
i don’t understand the joke.
I don’t either.
Maybe you have to be a Hockey fan to get it.
i’m a wild fan, but i don’t pay attention to other hockey teams/stories. so idk if i’m a HOCKEY fan or just a minnesota fan
Can you name the entire roster of the first Minnesota team to win the Stanley Cup? If so, you are a Minnesota fa….wait a minute.
Tee hee hee.
F’ing Canadian team better win the Cup this year.
The way I understand it is the Blackhawks brought in Corey Perry “to be a father figure” as stated above to their 18 year old phenom Connor Bedard. He was put to waivers today and will be released if not claimed. The rumor going around is that Perry was or has banged Bedard’s mom.
Which square is darker, A or B?
Sounds racist
BSF knows the answer…
It’s amazing how that works. I even checked it in Photoshop by cutting out square B and placing it right next to square A.
Freaks me out, and I’m a neuroradiologist.
How did the Presser go today, anyone listen??
I listened to KOCs Presser last night.
I have had enough ‘Kumbaya word salads’ for awhile.
My digestion needs a break.
Yeah, I’ve heard enough shit talk as well
The subcontractor that did a lot of the exterior work on our addition told us he prefers inside work and was excited to do our showers, tile, etc…he then ghosted the GC who finally hired another sub to do the work. Sub started yesteday…the original sub texted my wife and said if we let the GC do the tiling that it would be a terrible job. What the heck? Are we ten?
-the Bears are the first team since the NFL and AFL merged in 1970 to win a game on the road despite losing two fumbles, being penalized for 75+ yards and scoring zero touchdowns. Previously, teams were 0-46 when they put together that trifecta of ineptitude.
skol vikings! way to be a part of history!
That’s just what the Vikings do… sad and pathetic, really, but we are used to it.
bynum is going to have to go into some sort of dancing profession when he retires….
i think he is more into dancing after turnovers than anything else to be honest.
Metellus>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Bynum
You know, the GIF of Olivia Munn below reminds me of the time in college where I got the bright idea to go fishing for people out of my dorm window with Cheetos on a string.
Man, college was fun. I was an immature idiot not ready for it…but it was still fun.
Long before Jackass or Impractical Jokers my buddies and I would do elaborate skits and dares around campus or at the mall (typically the mother of all malls, West Edmonton). Things like knocking over a rack of clothing in a pretend drunken stupor, pretending that my Korean friend didn’t speak English and wanted to sample a certain variety of wine or beer, having to walk up to a stranger and get her/him to respond to a phrase in a certain way, etc….maybe that is everyone’s experience.
Man I can’t believe I kept a straight face in those days, some of the things we pulled.
So racist
Good old days!
Now pranks are like “Tiktok yourself walking into someone’s home unannounced and if they freak out because they think you are burglar or rapist, sue them for $10,000,000! It will be hilarious!”
They wouldn’t have a chance to sue me if they pulled that shit.
I had some buddies would play poop dollar. So the cafeteria was kind of overhang of the building with windows so you could see a lot of people coming and going. They found a way to get shit hidden on like a $10 bill and put in on the ground where someone couldn’t see the shit until they grabbed the money and then watched them freak out with shit on their hand haha.
My reaction: “Yeah, I got poop on my hand…but I also got $10! I can eat at Taco Bell for days on that!”
LOL, so fitting that getting poop on your hand leads to days of getting diarrhea.
When I see the Olivia Munn gif it reminds me of when she suggested her former lover was gay.
As far as college, I too was an immature idiot. As a senior at age 24 I would do things like run around campus dorms drunk at midnight wearing a banana costume screaming “peanut butter jelly time” and “I’m a big banana with a big banana penis” while being chased by my roommate who was wearing a gorilla costume. We also did this in the middle of the day a couple times running around through classes, the professors did not seem to appreciate our artistry.
Some people don’t recognize genius when they see it. Tale as old as time…
A girl in my sociology class sure appreciated it. I overheard her talking to another girl right before class about a banana running around her dorm screaming about having a big banana penis so I asked if she wanted to see for herself, and she laughed then asked if I was seriously the vigilante banana, I provided the necessary “proof” and we had a good time. Its weird I both miss and don’t miss things like that about college.
The one positive from having a sore throat is I get the opportunity to try some recently acquired homemade ‘death stars’ I got from a dark dispensary on my latest trip west – think ‘Little Debbie’ Star Crunch but made of high quality THC. Each star is 100mg. Gonna pop two and dominate Madden franchise mode with Tyrod Taylor.
My go-to move for sore throats are heated brandy and honey.
What is weird is that most booze makes me sick immediately, but I can drink hot brandy and honey all day. The sugar must make me metabolize it differently.
Can tell we come from the same area – I talk to my dad near daily and when I called this morning he asked ‘do you have any brandy & honey?’ I don’t have brandy – been gargling salt water every few hours.
That must be a mn thing, a former coworker told me to warm BlackBerry brandy on the stove add a drop of honey and drink when sick, it didn’t help though until I drank like 2/3s of the bottle
I do lemon juice and honey in a mug of hot water. Also am a big fan of aiming the shower stream as hot as I can stand straight into the back of my throat, or putting a towel over my head and standing over a boiling pot. I miss our steam shower, plumber said he doesn’t recommend them or I’d have installed in the shouse.
I abhor taking anything for my symptoms. I feel suffering drives out the beast faster.
200 mg I’d be dead or raving like a loon.
My tolerance for edibles is pretty high. A normal 5 or 10mg barely touches me – I’ll pop one of them right before bed if I’m struggling to sleep
10 is my normal amount.
Usually like 10, drink a couple of beers then about an hour later take another 10 if I’m feel like partying.
20 and no beers is also an option, but I’m usually in bed asleep 2 hours later if I eat all 20 at once.
200 mg?
Yeah that’s no joke, we see some f’d up people in the ED that take that large a dose. Mjolnir has built up a wee tolerance.
Apparently I’m a psychopath. I like ketchup.
I have been told only Psychos put it on steak.
Probably fine on lesser meats.
If you cook a steak correctly, you need no sauce.
Great movie, wonder if wrenage has reviewed it
Ketchup…on STEAK!!! I can’t even comprehend such a thing.
Like Mahomes?
I do too. Just not by itself on a hotdog.
I put ketchup on my ketchup.
Seems redundant.
False, you’re not a psychopath for liking ketchup, that’s normal depending on what you put it on. You specifically are a psychopath for a multitude of other reasons.
It’s good to diversify.
The first few weeks with Dobbs was fun. I’m over it now. Let’s give someone else a chance.
Hall
Hall gives us as good a chance as Mullins I think.
Plus the added bonus of seeing what he is capable of.
Dobby can be good, he has been, he can also be bad, and he has been.
Don’t know if KOC can ‘accentuate the good and eliminate the bad’.
Well at least Hall should have a firmer grasp on the offense. Let Hall play, if he starts sucking then put Dobbs back in when he will then also know the offense more gooder.
Mullens is the safer choice, Hall is the choice if you don’t give a shit about the rest of the season.
This is the correct take….All other takes are fake takes.
Hall might be lightning in a bottle. I say Mullens is the safe, boring, we know we’re not winning anything this year pick. Hall is a swing for the fences move. They’re playing with house money now, nothing to lose so I vote swing for the fences.
I tend to agree, but coaches are more likely to play it safe and try to win as much as possible.
Yeah, that’s lame. KOC basically has a free year. Do the exciting thing and see what happens. Plus you have the added benefit of seeing what Hall can do. If he’s really bad, then switch to Mullens or back to Dobbs so you don’t lose the locker room.
We’re playing the Raiders. Hall may be a “swing for the fences” hitter, but those types tend to strike out a lot.
A safe .275 hitter can beat the Raiders.
So can a guy who hits .215 – as long as he hits a couple long balls. I’d rather have the guy who gets on base frequently.
Oh, I agree. this isn’t a swing for the fences game like if we were playing the nEagles or Cowboys. Just need someone who can operate the offense “fairly effectively.”
scoring 10 points is pretty pathetic.
I’m talking swinging for the fences on the year. Maybe Hall shows he can be the QBOTF which would mean the Vikings don’t have to extend Cousins and can also use their high draft picks on non-QBs.
The coaches know what all three QB’s can do.
Likely. Although things change when its for real….some rise, some fold.
Random Viking player of the day: Chris Walsh
i enjoyed watching him play
Onside kick recovery against Giants to win first playoff win in forever in…1997 maybe?
This one?
The good ol’ days
Holy shit, he was awesome.
Didn’t he play a game right after having some sort of brain/head surgery? I remember seeing him on the sideline with gauze on his head and something about having surgery just days before that.
I think I remember what you’re talking about. He actually got his face fractured after getting hit by like 4 guys after making a catch. I think he had surgery and played the next game. Dude was as tough as they come despite his small stature.
Wikipedia says he played an entire game with a broken jaw. I swear I remember gauze above his ear though. Maybe that was from getting his jaw fixed I guess.
Yeah, that was it, broken jaw.
Back in my bouncer days we broke up a fight between two regulars. One guy hit the other with a pool cue and broke his jaw.
Guy got felony charges. Apparently they both were screwing the same women, who probably banged most of the old timers in there.
I really liked that job. It was pretty chill for the most part and drunk chicks would hit on you.
News Flash….you don’t need to be a bouncer to have drunk chicks hit on you…..
Although I get it, it increases your frequency of interaction with such chicks!
Getting paid to hang out in a bar was fun for a while.
I was friends with the owners kids and we all just drank way too much and got paid for it.
Was a fun time
Had a few big play 3rd and 4th down conversion catches in his limited time on the field. Stanford guy iirc. Good special teamer.
His crack backs were unreal.
I had that jersey in college.
Picked it up from a thrift shop around 99.
Weren’t we at like 24 total yards of offense just before halftime??
How embarrassing….
another amazing stat…
the bears first drive was 14 plays. FOURTEEN! for only 47 yards, how is that even possible haha
also, how many first downs did we receive via penalties. If those werent called, i fear to know how many times we would have had 4th down….
TOP was 29:59 to 00:01.
That’s Vikings football, baby!
A few thoughts on this Tuesday:
Loved the first play shot call
Hated he threw a jump ball to a toothpick receiver into double coverage – should’ve been interception #1.
Dobbs ain’t the guy, the few wins he generated were fun, but the rocket has fizzled out – majority of throws were late and behind – a common theme the last two weeks. Should’ve easily thrown another 2 or 3 picks.
Thought the D was impressive considering the awful spots they were in – Metellus & Hunter in particular were impact guys all night. Wonnum played well again. Was impressed by the little bit Sheldon Day played.
That said…. Hate that Flores didn’t go after Fields that last drive.
Hate more that KOC leaves his balls in the locker room at halftime – I get having faith in the Defense, but they’ve also been on the field for the majority of the night. Hope he finds his fangs down the stretch. Be aggressive.
Up with downvotes!
Down with upvotes!
Or…. Just have the balls to disagree in person. Could be as easy as ‘bad take’ or even use the thumbs down emoji 👎… it’s the internet, we can’t see each other.
Ketchup on a hotdog is fine, provided it’s accompanied by mustard. Only ketchup on a hotdog is okay as long as it’s eaten on a shotty cot covered with torn blankets underneath a single dangling lightbulb.
Ketchup on a brat is what ISIS members do.
Being sick sucks – I’m going to do a Madden fantasy draft. 4 minute quarters and I’m using my first pick on a QB and letting the computer autodraft. I want a challenge. Who should I take?
Skol!
per usual all your takes are trash.

Had to upvote this.
No street cred for you.
my street crew will be disappointed in my street cred
I’m gonna go ahead and downvote this to give you street cred
I’ll take the street cred. Many don’t know but I am not only a gang member, but also a shot caller.
Should’ve picked a better name than The Lemon Slusheez….
Mustard sucks.
Mustard is great, the Vikings suck.
You’ve got some VERY good mustard in your part of the world.
Indeed, and I’m pretty happy about this fact.
I have a huge craving for a hot dog.
And it’s not Freudian.
I don’t think…
Question: is a hotdog a sandwich?
It is if you slice a couple of them and put them between two pieces for bread.
My grandma did that. She would slice a hot dog, put it on a hamburger bun and eat it cold.
She was maybe psychotic, now that I think about it…
Putting Hotdogs into a Hamburger Bun seems wrong, not just counter intuitive but wrong somehow.
If we have hot dog leftovers I have made them into a sandwich, regular bread though.
Or put them into a tortilla with cheese and BBQ sauce or salsa.
Or slice them up and put them into a pasta dish.
Or…. well you get the idea.
One should not put hotdogs into buns that they were not designed to fit into…..it is against the laws of nature.
I want to make a joke about my hotdog being designed for my wife’s buns here but I’m just too classy for that
Rec for making me laugh.
I actually meant it as a veiled criticism of male gay sex….but good that you stayed classy!
I wonder if that would have landed me in trouble over at the DN?
PS how is the Sube?
Good News and Bad News on the Sub.
the Good News…I retrieved it yesterday from the dealership and drove it 110 miles no problem…seemed to run well at highway speeds and in town…no issues at all.
The Bad News….when I got there it needed to be jumped, it has a new battery (June), this morning it was dead. Obviously has an electrical leak problem. Now this problem is not new, it was doing this to me way back last March which was why I had a new battery put in. So now I will have to take it to the local garage and see if they can figure that problem out.
I hate hate hate parasitic loss of electricity. I tried and tried to track down that problem on my old beloved Mercedes 300D with 240,000 miles on it but finally gave up and sold it for $1100. I miss that old boat.
Yeah, I am a bit concerned about this…..
My mom has a phantom electrical loss issue on her Rav4. I think it is because it had an aftermarket remote start installed that is maybe draining energy.
I have like the same Rav4 she has otherwise, and I’ve never had any issues.
I do actually suspect the aftermarket remote start. I will disable that and see what happens.
Sorry it’s so small.
Ha, made me laugh.
Name of your sex paste
Indeed!
‘Sex Paste’????
I don’t believe I want to know what that is.
I’d start with the radio and any after market electric stuff like remote start. Just pull the fuse for the radio, let it sit overnight and see if the battery is dead in the morning. If it is, then that wasn’t the problem so move on to the next potential culprit.
Good grief. Think you’ve got a lemon on your hands, sorry.
Which is why I told him to sell it before he left the dealership. Too many gremlins for me.
Agree.
Yep, hot dog slices in Mac and Cheese is good.
Add baked beans to that.
NLNVF was telling how good Baked Beans were in his Chili Mac yesterday.
Now in Mac and Cheese.
Where will they show up next?? On Pizza???
Flagged for the lack of meat.
I won’t even bring up the addition of Ketchup to that abomination.
That’s why I picked that one specifically.
LOL, WTF is going on here, I’m not even going to mention the disturbing random dollop of ketchup either
We did that a lot growing up when we didn’t have hotdog buns
A hot dog is a psychological stand-in for a penis.
Wait..dang it! My craving is Fruedian!
If so why are they smaller than the real thing?
That is why I prefer sausages.
Speak for yourself
So you are implying that yours is smaller than a hotdog????
Of course. Isn’t everyone’s?
maybe you should google that question
I don’t have Rob or B-Rad to save me by saying “do not google” anymore.
I did find out that bun length dogs are six inches long.
not all buns are the same size though
Vive la difference!
I have and will always agree with George banks when it comes to hotdog buns being sold in a different number compared to hotdogs
father of the bride auto recccccccc
Ummm not so much.
As long as your wife is happy with what you got it is all good.
Something something about the diameter of your little finger all the way up to a baby’s head.
So you are saying that a Raccoon will fit??
I can’t say I know the diameter of an adult raccoon. I know the diameter of baby’s heads. If you can tell me the diameter of a raccoon I could answer that question.
There was that discussion several weeks ago about how small a space raccoons can fit through.
Don’t remember the details as I have used brain bleach since then but the gist of the thread was Two Raccoons could fit thru a human anus.
Or some such strange/disgusting/interesting conclusion.
It was a low day in the history of Skoloholics
I don’t know about raccoons, but I do know a rat can fit through a quarter-sized hole.
I did a lot of research, as I wrote a short story about zombie rats.
I have read that they can chew thru concrete given a good enough reason.
Having read a couple of your novels I can see you writing about that.
Wouldn’t mind reading that if it is published anywhere.
Actually, the zombie rats chew through a concrete wall in the story!
Basically, an agoraphobic man build a bomb shelter in his basement and gets stuck in there with his horrible neighbor while the apocalypse traps them inside.
The attack of the zombie rats then drive the agoraphobic man to overcome his fear of the outside because he has no choice but to escape them. Incredible character arc, truly…
It is still in my files. It got rejected by like 15 different places. Maybe 20…
I didn’t think it was that bad.
On the other hand, the market for short stories is crap right now, in my opinion. Wokeness has even infiltrated that. So many anthology story calls are like “QGBTQ++ or people of color writers only. Requesting short stories about elves falling in love with and sodomizing werewolves.”
I’m like…there’s actually an audience for that or are publishers trying to go out of business?
1st point,
‘I’m like…there’s actually an audience for that or are publishers trying to go out of business?’
‘Virtue Signaling is better/easier/cheaper than being Virtuous’
2nd point.
‘gets stuck in there with his horrible neighbor’
Was she hot??
No, she was built like a lumberjack. Odious woman. When the guy told her he couldn’t let her and her kids in because he didn’t have enough supplies, her response was:
“I’m not bringing my kids…”
@She sounds nice.@
Ugh. Raccoons are mean little f’ers. I had one perched on top of my squirrel feeder one night that my dogs were barking at. I grabbed my thermal scoped .556 and went out there, got close to him and yelled, thinking he would jump down so I could pop him without damaging the feeder. Instead the little beast bared his teeth at me, he thought he was winning that game until his brain vented to the outside world.
I wonder what strangling one would feel like? You’d want to wear thick leather gloves.
There were lots of the at the prison eating the trash. They are tough.
I have seen them pulling apart a Wasps nest and eating it while getting stung.
Have seen them eating a live rattlesnake while getting snake bit. (was told that raccoon would die later but it didn’t seem to care at the time).
Even had to ‘escort’ an inmate into a building he was scared to go into as there were 4-5 raccoons in front of it.
Saw one grab a crow from a tree and start eating it once they both hit the ground. Raccoon survived the fall the crow didn’t survive the raccoon.
When I first read this, I thought you were talking about the prison inmates, LOL! Had to go back and read a second time…
Probably due to all the edits I had to do on spelling so that the verbiage was not as precise as it needed to be by the time I was done.
They’re pretty strong. I strangled one with a noose once. Never with my bare hands but it was a pretty good fight.
Yeah. What kind of sick individual would post that?
*almost two racoons could fit through the human anus, almost
I think it was 1 3/4
Technically 2 raccoons, but who’s counting?
Almost 2 racoons
I’m up for the challenge
That’s why I married a 5’2 woman. It’s all about perspective!
I married a woman with really small hands, makes things look grander
I’d be inclined to agree if you cited a credible source
More Credible.
What could possibly be more credible than a politician?
Can’t believe she didn’t use ketchup. Mustard alone is a warning sign.
ketchup does not belong on hotdogs
Emphatically… you are correct sir!
Correct.
Mustard please.
You misspelled BBQ sauce.
On a hot dog???
BBQ sauce is tastier and healthier.
BBQ sauce has zero fat, that is the reason I first switched way from Ketchup.
Umm am I missing something ketchup has no fat. Which has more sugar per serving?
BBQ sauce has more calories, sodium, sugar, and carbs than ketchup, neither have any fat.
Ok, I was thinking mayonnaise, Ketchup got caught up in the Condiment section of my brain.
I was gonna say, I’m pretty sure BBQ sauce is basically ketchup with brown sugar.
I like Chicago style the best but I’m too lazy to make them myself, I only get them from Portillo’s or if I’m in Chicago Byron’s. Now I’m craving a Chicago dog.
I don’t think I have ever had a “chicago style” hot dog.
Its fantastic
I love Chicago Style Hot Dogs.
“Chicago style”?
Is that where you get mugged while eating a hotdog?
I think its where you eat a hotdog while staring at a homeless guy’s cock
Things not on my bucket list…..
Eating a hot dog while starting a homeless guy’s cock.
Laughing… so hard… I read that and just busted out laughing…
I thought that was a California thing?
In that case I prefer Chicago style with a side of San Francisco style.
Fun fact: only psychopaths put ketchup on hotdogs
Ketchup AND mustard all day for me on hot dogs.
I can see using only mustard on a brat. That is reasonable.
Mayo and hot sauce.
And nacho cheese.
Ugh I just remembered we gave them a conversion on 4th and freaking 10 and then turned the ball over ourselves on downs when Hock caught a poorly thrown ball and couldn’t stretch to the marker. It was about that time my wife (reading a book next to me) chipped in “they’re pissing it down their leg”. (sigh)
Don’t you watch the Bachelor?
I saw a lot of Golden Bachelor promos last night. He really looked torn about breaking some girl’s heart. I am concerned for him.
Is he going to be okay?
I think if you’re referring to elderly women as girls you should probably call them golden girls, well that is off you’re going to assume gender anyway
I am not as fervent a member of Bachelor Nation as I was in the past. I have watched a couple of episodes and must say Golden is WAY better than the tropes of the regular Bachelor.
I have always said the format is f’d up. You start with 25-30 girls, cool, but once you get down to the smooching phase it should be over. It is not natural to be in love with 3-4 girls at the same time, meeting their parents, etc…I believe that is why so few of the matches are successful, cuz imagine watching an episode with your chosen match where you stick your tongue down a gal’s throat 12 hours after being with your choice, telling the unchosen you are falling in love with them, let’s go to the fantasy suite, etc….there is just no way I’m capable of talking my way out of that.
That’s a good point.
I watched a couple of these reality love shows way, way back.
Remember Joe Millionaire and Average Joes?
Averages Joes was my favorite, where they pitted geeks against hunks for the love of a beautiful woman. Geeks lost, of course. And I had no real problem with that. I don’t think it is crazy for a person to want to be with someone they are attracted to. It is pretty standard, actually.
They need to bring back pros vs joes.
Only if Petros Papadakis is the host, it was complete trash after he left.
I want to see normal guys trying to tackle Adrian Peterson.
Thoughts from the game:
Dobbs sucks, should have had 5 picks but Johnson dropped an easy pick 6, at least he didn’t fumble though so I guess that’s “improvement”, all the picks aside his most pathetic throw was deep to Addison on the sideline late in the fourth where there wasn’t a defender within 20 yards of Addison and Dobbs still managed to throw the ball several yards out of bounds for an incompletion, this is why he’s a career backup, can’t throw accurately from the pocket consistently and turns the ball over way too much. Prepare Hall or Mullens to start during the bye.
Troy Dye is an atrocious football player
Vikings should have run the ball more
metellus was out there trying to murder people, that hit early on Mooney was especially vicious, he also caused both fields fumbles
Justin fields still sucks and fumbles all the time
KOC wtf you doing after the fields fumble late in the fourth with the lead?
the Vikings aren’t a contender for anything meaningful, losing at home to that shitbox bears team is inexcusable
all the FGs reminded me of the infamous fuckers game where the Vikings won when Rich Karlis kicked 7 FGs to win
Dobbs sucks
Thought it was Hunter that forced one of the fumbles. I’ve got him in sleeper IDP and he’s credited with a FF.
IDK, when I was watching it looked like Metellus caused it, and douchebag joe buck said metellus knocked it out during the broadcast. The last one was definitely Metellus though.
Might be time for the Zim Zu bit from the old days at the DN.
The reason I started reading the DN was the Zim Zu articles…
They were good….Mr. Glover was talented.
They were great.
Nick Mullens and a 5th rounder to the Rams for Wentz….someone give me Quessie’s number.
Laughing… Oh man… you’re definitely NFL GM material!
Rams would have to send a 5th and Wentz for mullens, Wentz is a joke, worse than Mannion
Well, if you had told me yesterday morning the team would have 4 INT’s AND only give up three points on those four turnovers AND hold the Bears to only 4 FG’s I would have been ecstatic.
However, as a whole I was not entertained.
I was bored, watched a lot of ancient alliens.
as embarrassing as that game was…
what’s even more embarrassing is being a grown adult purposely clicking the thumbs down on one specific commenter’s EVERY post, just because they disagree with one or two of said commenters opinions…
now THAT is embarrassing.
Where does that happen??? Surely not here.
You know since coming here, I’ve noticed if you some how say something that can be remotely considered in a way that will put Cousins in a positive light, you will draw ire. Even if it’s 100% true, some folks (few) get all twisted.
Now the other. Noticed one of our major contributors was away for several weeks and many were concerned about him. Then he shows up, and just about everyjhing he posts gets red flags. Just look at last weekend.
Embarrassing is far too kind!
just look at last night…
i scrolled through every comment and was pretty disappointed.
thumbs down is obviously dumb in and of itself but to target one person like that, pretty pathetic ESPECIALLY knowing it’s a grown adult…
kathy, are you doing that?!?!?!
My vote is Kathy….trouble maker.
I love Kathy… great person, and knows football.
How can you say that about someone who has been down voting you??
poor kathy is going to come on here and be like wait WHAT?!?!
Laughing… so hard. Pillocks downvote me. Kathy is no Pillock.
That was my first encounter with that word. I got a word of the week! Takes me back to high school English, scouring novels for the word “lugubrious” and working it into an essay or answer to a test question…yes that is what I did for three years of hs English, I could almost recite every single word of the week.
I have always been the same way. I see a word I don’t know, and I have to look it up.
Puissance is the word that bugs me.
It sounds like something nasty but it means ‘great power, influence, or prowess.’
Another new word. That one is hard for me to pronounce. pwis-sense.
Yes, Puissance is my number 1 character trait.
Clearly
Had to look that one up, British slang for stupid person, lol.
In all honestly she’s probably the best commenter on this or any Vikings site
She does seem to be a better person than this site deserves.
Meh, she likely kills stray cat’s for fun…..
this would be so much more enjoyable if she were on the site.
‘she likely kills stray cat’s’
Well I do hear Gato Tacos are tasty with the right spices.
I think I’ve shared this story before on the DN, but a friend of mine went out on a date with a girl probably around 15 years ago. Anyway they’re having dinner and making small talk when he says something about being stressed at work. She then tells him about how when she is stressed she strangles cats to death and goes into some detail about it. He doesn’t really say anything about it, finishes his meal, then excuses himself to use the restroom and never returns.
Maybe he just didn’t get her sense of humor??
Based on the level of detail she went into and description of her emotions during the process I’m thinking it was not a joke, if it was the jokes on her, she got stuck with the bill.
was it possible she also was not enjoying the date, made up that story to hopefully never have to see him again?
either way, if true PSYCHO
if untrue, LEGEND
Pretty sure PSYCHO
Haha I love that story. You have to wonder if he encountered someone that was a true psychopath or if she had some fantastic weed out program for her future spouse.
This is the most amazing date story I have ever heard!
Well, actually I’m not a cat person at all, but I don’t kill them, lol.
Thank you, NLNVF. I don’t downvote anyone at all. I think it’s childish.
You’re welcome, but I’m just stating the truth.
As to the downvoting thing, clearly I have been targeted by two people on this site who are compelled to continuously attack and ridicule me regardless of the actual content of my commentary.
With that in mind, I just consider the source.
I hesitate to bring this up because by ignoring him, he eventually went away. Maybe this late on a post it’s OK, I hope. I’ve had a similar experience with an internet stalker. Was very disappointed he showed up here too, but haven’t seen him for awhile. GF knows who it is.
Messed up? Juvenile? Idiotic? Befitting of a Packer fan?
JRobert, it’s just a game…including this site. We’re all Vikings fans and just throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks. Up votes or down votes don’t mean a thing IRL. I know NLNVF has a good attitude about this. My advice is don’t even look at those up and down votes. Now I know freezey is the OP for this thread and I’m not saying that in the context of this thread don’t comment about it, I’m just saying end of the day I you we have a great life and who gaf about somebody down voting a comment?
BTW I am a Cousins fan. Don’t know what the answer will be next season but it seems we are destined for a middle of the round pick, maybe we get lucky and pick the next Tarkenton? Or resign Cousins and roll out the barrel again? Dobbs is not the answer.
Well stated.
I personally figure if I got votes (up or down) it means that someone thought enough of my rambling to react to it.
I consider that a win but my standards are not that high.
Thank you – for sure I don’t know crap about internet behavior.
A question though – if someone makes an innocent comment on a plain subject such as the “weather”, why would someone flag that. And, it usually happens to the same poster?
To be a dick.
Concur
Nailed it.
I noticed that over the weekend.
At some point some one came in late and downvoted every post ‘that commenter’ made during the day.
So why doesn’t someone “manup”? Chicken shit!
I’m not sure what you’re talking about specifically but that is pathetic behavior, Pansy.
I’m not sure if I should downvote this comment to give you street cred or upvote because I agree
DOWNVOTE PLEASE
Will do, and I know you’re serious because you used all caps
If you don’t refresh the page, you never see any of the up or down votes.
I hate the whole downvote thing, and the random ones which are obvious trolling are really annoying Wish we would get rid of it.
How is Freeze supposed to work on his street cred then?
So the o line had a rough game and Dobbs really struggled under pressure.
https://x.com/eric_j_thompson/status/1729527150166823376?t=csMjtKp02tylRFNtGpQXkg&s=19
Interesting stats are coming out about Dobbs and pressure
https://x.com/Purple_Post/status/1729532311404683383?t=uhWIqvlbvxUFBz5rv0jRYw&s=19
Dobbs is a pants shitter
Kirk “passing the torch” to Dobbs
Maybe he doesn’t know enough yet about the offense, to adjust play calls and blocking?
I did notice how wide the edge rushers were playing on a lot of downs. Probably to keep him in the pocket. The middle was open and we got a few decent runs through those gaps.
I thought we could have gotten a few draw plays, but KOC probably didn’t want to run him since he fumbles.
Correct, he’s a running QB that doesn’t protect the ball and also can’t deliver the ball accurately from the pocket on a consistent basis, that’s why he isn’t anything more than a backup
Ben is correct…
There was a few of those plays were the edge rushers came really wide and the LBs were deep back in pass coverage. KOC clearly saw this. But decided against running Dobbs.
I get that he’s trying to minimize mistakes, but why is a guy in if you can’t trust him to run the plays?
Or as you succinctly said “A running QB who can’t protect the ball and can’t deliver accurately”.
Then bench him.
KOC damn near did during the game and my guess is he does during the bye week, I think we will see Mullens start.
Agree, I want Hall but we will get Mullens….
I think mullens gives them the safest best chance to win, he’s played more than any other QB on the roster and played well at times, solid comp %, good ypa, but interceptions have been an issue for him. I’d probably rather see Hall myself, but based on KOCs comments after the game when he said he was considering putting mullens in my guess is when they bench Dobbs it’s mullens that starts.
Maybe he just sucks and that’s why he’s a career journeyman backup
I’m trying to be positive today, and give Dobbs the benefit of the doubt, but you’re making it hard.
Interesting, I thought only Kirk couldn’t handle pressure. At least I was informed about this “fact” by some on here.
A tough loss, but we aren’t out of it yet. Just may need to win 4 out of next 5 – maybe 3 if we are lucky.
As such, stick with Dobbs. Not time yet to evaluate future QB talent. If Dobbs should falter, put the next best QB in that gives us the best chance to win.
Dobbs sucks, no reason to continue with him, if he’s not fumbling he’s throwing picks. KOC considered benching him for mullens late in the game.
In retrospect, I think he should have.
Should’ve benched Kirk for Mullens in the first 4 weeks by that logic.
because that would have changed the turnovers?
Cousins threw for 9 TD’s and 1,075 yards in the first 3 games.
the first 4 weeks of the year Kirk had 4 fumbles and 4 ints.
I’m trying to apply the same logic and reasoning as you are.
The first four games he lost 1 fumble, and two of the interceptions we could just as easily had TD’s.
Stop with the ridiculous blather.
kirk do no wrong.
turnovers are turnovers. How many off Dobbs ints last night were tipped balls/should have been caught.
I think 1, the 2 of the tipped balls were off-target throws.
Anyone who expects Josh Dobbs to come in a play like Kirk Cousins is just being silly.
But you can’t downplay Kirks turnovers int he beginning of the year and then complain about Dobbs.
There was probably 4 balls last night that Addison should have caught and didn’t.
No one should think that Dobbs can come in and play like Cousins, no one should think that just because a QB is mobile you automatically have a better chance to win the game.
I think we agree on those two things.
KOC said in his presser that 3 Int were tipped balls.
Since I only follow the Box Score on Yahoo I have no personel knowledge.
That is correct.
The second was a hard throw that went right through Addisons hands.
Probably should have caught it although Dobbs drilled it in there really quickly. Looked like it caught him off guard.
Only one was not really Dobbs fault, Addison should have caught the second one. The rest were shitty throws, bad decisions, or both.
Yes, that was my interp as well, only one was truly not his fault.
Kirk throws interceptions or fumbles the ball..
Not his fault.
Dobbs does it..
All his fault.
Stop… no one said anything of the sort Mick.
Not Kirks fault.
There’s no blame there. It’s football. Cousins didn’t make bad plays and give the ball away, so stop with the childish blame game here. Grow up.
One, the one that bounced off addisons hands
i think it’s a LITTLE different to say someone should have been benched when they threw 4 int’s in ONE game (could have been 6)
Mick is just being his usual contrarian self with me.
Kirk cousins is an established veteran, Dobbs is a trash journeyman backup, there’s no logic or reasoning in that comparison
Yup.
I agree
Perhaps. But why NOW decide to evaluate Hall. Put Dobbs on a very short rope and have Mullens ready to go.
Agree with NLV, KOC sees them everyday. Put the best QB on the field that gives the team the best chance to win.
Mullens is likely the QB who gives the Vikings the best chance to win, Dobbs sucks so I’d Mullens is healthy just play him
All 3 are backups and suck
Agreed
Well KOC sees all his QB’s every day. He’s gonna have to decide which of the three gives the team the best chance to win. Dobbs is too limited in his knowledge of the playbook. He’s playing with one arm tied behind his back as it were. Hall is a rookie, and has a learning curve naturally attached to that. Mullens has been in the system now for two seasons, and has game experience. To me, he’s the best choice. However, KOC has to do the evaluation and decide.
the more time with the playbook….the worse Dobbs has looked…
Well, the playbook has a lot of nuances on plays. If the defense does this, change this and adjust that, kind of stuff. Dobbs hasn’t had time to learn all the plays, much less practice executing them.
i was more or less being facetious.
it has SEEMED the more he learns, the worse he looks. that’s all.
I got ya. Good to go.
Correct and another way to look at it is the more tape opponents have on Dobbs the worse he plays
^^^this^^^
He stated in his presser last night that they were going to look at the QB situation and go with whomever ‘gives them the best chance going forward’.
Lots of word salads in his presser after he started with this Gem:
“We Did Not Have The Type of Performance We Wanted To Have Offensively”.
KOC has lived on word salads since he got here. Not enough red meat.
He must be starving
What’s your definition of ‘falter?’
The more time he’s had to learn the offense, the worse he’s gotten.
also, our punter SUCKS.
he was good last year, sucks this year. why oh why is kicking ALWAYS an issue for this team.
“let’s pin them deep” kicks the ball out of bounds at the 22. real nice, ya dummy
Have to agree, our kicking is usually a sore spot. Special teams in general are, year in and year out.
COULD have been a different outcome if we pinned them….say at the 7 yard line. could have brought more pressure, etc….
Yeah, what the hell was that? Just hit the coffin corner.
unfortunately even a freaking touchback would have been better
a few observations from last nights game….
dobb’s is/never was the qbotf.
KOC needs to learn how to be less conservative and not put it all on the defense.
if pressure/blitzing has worked for the whole game, keep that up. dropping 8 doesn’t work when a team needs 35 yards to get into FG range
dobbs is a turnover machine
Correct.
My guess is at the end of the game, Flores/KOC don’t want to die by the blitz.
i wonder if flores was watching our last offensive possession and thinking come on KOC my guys are gassed, get a first down, kick a FG and we won’t let them in the EZ.
Did you see the video of Flores after the Bears made that long pass to set up the winning FG? He was ranting and raving. Would love to hear what he was saying.
That someone blew the friggin coverage!
All night long, the defense only needed to take away two guys. Kmet and Moore.
Who makes the big catch to put them in game sealing territory? Moore, and there wasn’t anyone within 10 yards of him, even though we only rushed three.
Kmet and Moore totaled 18 catches together.
When a team just needs a FG, in today’s NFL is a prevent defense all that effective?
exactly my point…
field goal range, inside, is not that hard to get to.
We couldn’t do it against Denver though… so.
both games, if our coach had a pair, could have been ended with a win
An exception don’t you think?
Yeah, Dobbs just didn’t have enough experience in the offense to draw on. Denver studied his film, knew his limitations, and took advantage of it. Same with the Bears.
Dance with the girl ya brought.
“not put it all on the defense” didn’t think I’d hear that this year. D is actually respectable. Doubt we are able to retain Flores.
Anyone else severely disappointed in the play calls right after we recovered the fumble on the Bears 43 yard line?
Run,run pass, punt for 22 yards.
3:30 on the clock and we predictably run right at the Bears, who were just waiting for those plays.
Then we go with a damn screen play that almost never works.
Is this really the best we can do here?
Maybe try one PA bootleg with a pass to a TE? Have him block then slip out for a pass? Pass not there have Dobbs just throw it away or run if there’s a lane. Nothing dangerous.
Just take one shot at getting a first down.
I didn’t like the play calling either, but this is what KOC does. He goes into Zimmerball mode when the team gets into this situation. Granted, Dobbs wasn’t playing great, but attack the damn defense. Go for the jugular. Stop snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. if you’re gonna go down, go down swingin.
Agreed. You can still run at least once in 1st or second down.
Just try something… anything to get 10 yards.
I didn’t see one QB RPO play call the entire first half. Didn’t stay up for the second half. It’s almost like KOC decided he was trying to trick everybody by keeping Dobbs in the pocket all night.
Yes!!
What was the difference in play calling between this time playing the bears and the last time we played them?
Oh, I know. Mattison got the first down on 2&7 rather than getting stuffed forcing a 3rd and long.
otherwise… no different.
There’s a huge difference in situational football between these 2 games. Being up by 6 with under 2 minutes, hell yeah run the ball.
Let’s be honest here. 9/10 times you get stuffed. That’s fine when you are up 6 and they now need to drive the field for a TD with 50 seconds and no time outs.
Instead we now give them the ball back with well over 2 minutes and they just need 40 yards for a field goal to win it.
Completely different scenarios.
They were right there in FG range to go up by 4 and them needing a TD to win. It would’ve been a 50+ yarder which is no guarantee but the situation isn’t as different as you’re making it sound.
Would you have preferred they pass the ball? That worked great all night.
Mattison was what? 8/51 averaging 6.5 YPC. That’s who’s hands I would’ve put it in, not the QB who threw 4 ints already.
Situational football is hugely important, and Mattison getting decent runs early are completely dependent on the defensive look. You are missing the context here.
The edge rushers were out really wide to contain Dobbs and we exploited that defense for big runs up the gut.
Now the defense is not giving you that look, and on second down crashed the middle of the line just waiting for your play.
You call a play that the D is expecting and it gets blown up, that’s a bad call. Why are you even arguing that?
All I wanted was a play action boot on first or second down. Or something that the Bears aren’t expecting and scheming for.
Is that too much to ask?
Also, that screen play was stupid and risky.
Those play calls sucked. They didn’t work and stood very little chance of working.
Which would have not mattered if we were up by 6 and left the Bears only 50 seconds.
It’s a huge difference.
It is actually too much to ask.
I’m sorry to be the one to break it to you.
It would have been a 61 yard FG and would you really trust fuck Greg Joseph at that point? If he misses you’re basically handing the bears a FG.
If they run the ball on 3rd down instead of passing it may have been less.
But they threw it.
The point is they did the same sequence the first time against the Bears and it worked out in the Vikings favor and people werent upset.
Completely different scenarios.
3:30 on the clock vs 1:50
2 point lead vs 6.
Correct to run in the first game even if you don’t get the first down.
I bet KOC is regretting it.
Yeah I get that, I just don’t trust Joseph
what’s worse is the one pass play called on that last possession was BEHIND THE LOS…….
Dobbs was clearly uncomfortable back there.
His passes were off on both accuracy and velocity.
That first pick he had the guy open, but he stared down the WR the whole time then lobbed it.
He needed to freeze the CB by looking off or throw a lot harder.
Who needs some athletic QB who isn’t good are manipulating defenses and inaccurate. We should get a guy who just stands in the pocket, would probably take more sacks and be less of a running threat but could put the ball where it needs to be… where could we find a guy like that… hmmm…. LOL! I’m kidding, put Hall in let’s go!
Dobbs is still very inexperienced even though he’s been in the league for 7 years. He still has a lot of growing to do. Fundamentally, his processing is slowed right now, because he hasn’t been with the Vikings since OTA’s and he’s playing catch up very late in the season. He has to see things and then react to them. He can’t really throw with anticipation much yet.
Will he ever reach a level where he can play fast, get the ball out on target, etc? Only time will tell.
Personally I think we should start Mullens, but I have never seen him in practice. Maybe KOC isn’t thrilled with him.
The Vikings have given up one touchdown in the last eight quarters and lost both games.
Damn, that is amazing.
Truly
#justVikingsthings
Prior to last night, I believe there were 28 teams to not score a TD in a game this year. All 28 lost. Vikings still breaking stupid records.
Dobby was a very bad elf. Dobby must be punished. With extreme prejudice (KOC as well).
Time for Hall. I’m over the turnover machine.
Yep. Why not, let’s see what he’s got.
Yeah, I wouldn’t mind seeing Hall again.
Zack Wilson lite?
Hall is a more natural pocket passer who was praised for his accuracy and ball placement in college.
Also had decent pocket awareness.
Seems to be what we need. But who knows?
I thought Hall was a scrambler in college?
He can do both. Basically a short, Mormon Mahomes.
Hmmmm
I thought Fields was a good pocket passer and had good awareness in college too. Now, at the pro level, a different game.
You obviously never watched him in college
bullshit, he sucks
He sucks too but at least it would be a different sucking
That game reminded me of the game against the colts. Forget the year but T Jack was the QB and we lost 15-12. All field goals for the colts. Mind numbing and very boring. Anyways this team is going no where without Cousins. Hate to say it.
yeah, Cousins made a few million last night.
Going nowhere with or without cousins
Yeah, I think Cousins would have won that game last night.
But I still don’t want him back. I want to move into the unknown!
Agreed 100% with this.
You are forgetting Wrenage that QB’s are not responsible for wins.
At least that’s we have been told by the experts.
No you haven’t been told that… your comprehension skills are just lacking… grin.
Well, whenever i claim that the team is .500 with Cousins, or If I claim Cousins can’t win the important game, you and others claim QB wins are not a stat.
Now you claim otherwise?
According to you then, the 13 wins last season were on Cousins. I, on the other hand, would say change in coaching, schedule, a few good bounces, had a lot ot do with it along with QB play.
World is seldom black and white.
Yes. The QB matters.
No… as I said it’s a comprehension thing on your part. You apparently don’t understand the words coming out of my mouth.
“Wins” are not a QB stat, The team record is not a QB stat.
QB’s can play very, very well, and the team still loses.
Is that clear enough?
“There are none so blind as those that will not see”
Indeed
“The one-eyed are Kings in the land of the blind”
Not relevant to anything, just like the quote.
LOL.
You must not remember how the first bears game went.
^^This^^, obviously. Perpetual mediocrity seems to be what the Vikings are destined for.
Going the same place we always go.
Correct
Team was going nowhere with Cousins.
1 playoff win in 6 seasons is his Vikings legacy.
If they sign him next year, it will be more of the same.
Really – do things change with time?
Thought Cousins played much better last year compared to before years.
Thought he was playing even better thjs year – maybe best of his life.
Not trying to plug Cousins, but your suggestion is off.
And, I’d even suggest, with more time Dobbs would play better too.
Dobbs has been in the league for like 7 years. How much time does he need? Why have 6 teams moved on from him, one of them twice?
Probably true for Dobbs – just trying to give him benefit of the doubt. But still think the Cousins take is correct.
Vikings haven’t won squat with cousins and Dobbs flat out sucks.
Was implying things change. There isn’t a QB on earth that would have played his best under Zimmer. And Cousins has grown considerably under KOC
So to say it’s been the same for six years is lame.
What will not change with time, is Kirk’s inability to improvise.
IF the team makes the playoffs, defenses will be better, and he will crumble.
1 outlier game does not change that.
Disagree. Brady didn’t. win all those SB’s because of improvising. He. won them by executing his offense at a high level -pre and post snap. Aside from Mahomes (his own class), the guys winning the SB’s are the ones that can execute their offenses well.
I’ll take a Stafford type all day long over a Murray type – especially come playoff time.
At least it would have been entertaining.
T-Jack and Ponder are similar to me. I felt both gave all they had, and I kind of like them for that, but they weren’t up to the task.
IIRC it was the Vikings not managing a single TD, all Field Goals. Second half of that game Manning put in a little effort and the Colts won despite not having scored a single point in the first half.
Be that as it may, this season was lost when Kirk went down. Rocket boy came crashing down to earth yesterday, Hall won’t be much better.
The team was/is going nowhere with Cousins.
The team was headed to winning the Division with Cousins in case you didn’t notice. With the defense playing at this level (8th in the league in points allowed) we were likely to win every game with Cousins under center and finish 13-4 again.
False, they were 4-4 with Cousins
He already covered the rest. They were guaranteed to go 9-0 the remainder of the year.
The Bears did a good job of scheming to keep Dobby in the pocket…Dobby isn’t going to beat anyone from the pocket, that is painfully obvious. BUT HE SURE CAN RUN!!!!
Well, defenses do study film too. Most try to take away your strength and make you beat them with your next best.
One other thing I remembered…when the Vikings recovered Field’s fumble to prevent the Bears going up two scores…
So many Vikings went to the endzone to pose and preen. Guys…you are down 9-3 to the Bears. You’re not that cool…
You know that point in the game where the Bears were in FG range and on the verge of going up an insurmountable two scores and all Fields had to do was not fumble? And then he fumbled?
I shut the game off at that point because I needed to get to bed. I figured the Bears were one of the saddest teams I have watched in recent memory and that the Vikings could easily get to 10 points and win.
Low and behold when I checked the score this morning, the Vikings did indeed get to 10 points, but the Bears still won. Unbelievable. I can’t wait to watch the highlights. I feel like whatever happened will be funny!
Another late game defensive collapse. Was Ed Donatell calling the D on that last drive by Chicago?
I got through the highlights. It looks like the Vikes went up 10-9, and then Fields fumbled AGAIN in Bears territory. That should have iced the game, but the highlights didn’t even really show any Vikings plays after the fumble recovery. Vikes must have completely whiffed on capitalizing.
Then the Bears just zipped, zipped, zipped down the field into FG range.
At this point, we have to believe prevent defense is just ordered by Vegas, right? It seems to serve no useful function for winning.
Yep, after that last fumble by Fields, the Vikes did a very quick 3 and out. Two runs for zero and a screen for 1 yard.
And then the Vikes D went into prevent mode. They stopped blitzing which was working well the whole game.
Well, that sucked. Should’ve been a romp, the Bear’s mistakes kept us in the game.
What happened to our O-Line? They really regressed.
Two bad weeks in a row, where the defense plays well until the very end, then shits the bed.
Dobbs reminded the world why he is a backup. I hope he enjoyed his 15 mn of fame. I also hope he never plays another down for the Vikings. He is that bad.
This feels way worse than the 0-3 start. Team sucks and is going nowhere.
Only way this shit season gets worse is if the bad QB play makes them bring back Kirk.
He’ll have an extension before the Raiders game.
