Another day removed from the Bears game & I’m still peeved. The quarterback wasn’t the only problem, (although he was the biggest). Kevin O’Connell needs to alter the strategy he uses when the team has a lead. The offense basically gave up even trying to get a first down on their last series when a couple first downs would have sealed the game. For the offense, that’s basically how they played 98% of the game, but it sucked even more on that drive when the team needed them to put the game away. They ran two obvious rushing plays right into the teeth of the defense which one whole yard. Then, on 3rd and 9, they gave that one yard back when they threw behind the line. They chewed an entire minute off of the clock.
The defense’s strategy was to give up doing what had worked the entire game on the last series. They blitzed a lot during the game, and the pressure paid off, that’s what got them off the field, FTMP. On the last series, they didn’t blitz at all, and they peed the win down their leg. I don’t know if that’s a Flores decision or if KOC is instructing him to do it that way, but it needs to stop. Flores looked p***ed, probably because they just gave up the game-losing completion, but you never know.
Minnesota Vikings Discussion Topic of the Day
Do you think Flores makes the call to stop blitzing in order to protect the lead, or is it KOC?

Minnesota Vikings News:
SI.com has an NFC standings update, including the Vikings’ playoff odds heading into their late-season bye week.
You can rehash the Vikings-Bears week 12 matchup over at Vikings.com. Also, Kevin O’Connell talks about their QB evaluation plans over the bye week.
CBS Sports’ Will Brinson says that the bigger problem in the Panthers organization is still there. It’s their owner, David Tepper.
The Vikings activated WR Justin Jefferson off of injured reserve, which was expected, from NFL.com.

- Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something feel free to ask. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here. Just be civil and cool to one another.
The economy grew at a 5.2% rate in Q3.
Where’s LFA at these days?
And a pound of hamburger costs 6 bucks.
My SS Cost of Living Increase went from 8.7% for ’23 to 3.2% for ’24.
So things are getting ‘better’ or the Gov is ‘better’ at cooking the books.
I but it at Sam’s for about $4 a pound.
Anyways, i miss LFA. He’d throw a good and proper fit over any economic news that wasn’t implying a disaster.
Bad news is, that all the “good” news over the last year will result in more interest rate hikes.
If the gov are cooking the books, they are really stupid since the incoming rates hikes into a fake economy should of had very bad consequences.
I just got a lb of 96% ground beef at the Commissary today for $1.12.
Worth the drive out there for such deals. Their selections is a bit limited but we are willing to have lower choices for lower prices.
Wow. That’s cheap.
Well it was reduced from is ‘Regular Price’ of $1.17 a lb.
Deals can be found, We do Walmart/Costco/Sam’s Club/Trader Joe’s (cheap veggies).
According to who???
The Government.
They are here to help us don’t you know.
Isn’t it amazing how the Green New Deal has fixed all our ills.
And then there’s these actual numbers, they revise them up or down later as the political winds blow.
They post the numbers so their Media Arm of the DNC can report them to the Demo-sheep and then once no one is looking they revise them to the real numbers.
Of course the ‘real numbers’ are never reported in the Fake News.
I don’t know exactly how they “pull” this number together, but the Unemployment Number is total BS – a sham.
‘Unemployment Number is total BS’
Well if they stop counting the people who gave up looking for work and chose to live on Gov freebees then it is much less.
This time they revised the numbers from 4.9 to 5.2.
Tiger tees off in the Hero World Challenge golf tournament tomorrow at 11:52 a.m. The broadcast will be on the Golf Channel from 12:30 to 4:30.
Tiger is coming off a seven-month break at this week’s Hero World Challenge, which benefits his foundation. Broken, fused and contused, he has played through his original factory parts. He hasn’t hit shots with a scorecard in hand since withdrawing from the Masters in April, after which he headed to New York and ankle fusion surgery.
He’ll also turn 48 next month. How much could he possibly have left?
“My game feels rusty; I haven’t played in a while,” he said Tuesday at the Hero, where he walked gingerly to the dais. “… I’m excited to compete and play and I’m just as curious as all of you are to see what happens because I haven’t done it in a while.”
But can he still win?
“Absolutely,” he said.
remember when joshua p dobbs flexed like he just defeated goliath in a fight, when he finally threw the ball to the right team?
that was funny
Some tasks are so monumental they are worthy of celebration.
I could take that stupid bird in a fight.

Quite the pecker on that thing.
Anyone been to Upsala Sweden?
Might end up there for a week for work.
Probably March if things work out.
I usually don’t go anywhere outside the US.
Is that where she’s from?
I wonder if I can find an awesome little village like in the movie Midsommar?
yup,
@Being from Sweden gave her ‘insights’ that made her Pro Hamas.@
I pay zero attention to whatever she’s up to.
I see the headlines.
I can’t think much worse of her so I don’t bother reading ‘her stories’.
Belgium is probably the closest I have been.
Unless the flight from NY to Berlin swung up that way.
I haven’t but I’ve heard its better than Downsala
That response made your Street Cred take a hit.
He had street cred? Maybe street credit debt!
I’m “downsala” voting this.
Not because I don’t like it.
Just for the street cred.
Haven’t made it to Sweden yet, I’ve only been to Finland twice so far. Don’t know if you remember Tor66 from the DN, I could provide an email address, though I haven’t been in contact with him for years now.
Tor66 doesn’t ring a bell.
I put in for work travel and leaving the US almost always gets immediately denied.
This time it did not get shot down immediately.
Probably still go to shit though.
He was (maybe still is) the resident Swede over there, good dude, met him in London twice. Didn’t follow us to the Gopher site or here as far as I know.
Been to Stockholm – nice city and people. Weather iffy that time of year and food isn’t the greatest. Stay away from the pickled herring.
I hear that they have the best Swedish Meatballs in the world.
AND GREAT MUSIC! The true metal mecca in Sweden is Gothenburg though. But you all already knew that.
My wife has been to Sweden a number of times to watch metal concerts. She went to Gothenburg for one of them. She told me the folks in Stockholm consider the folks from Gothenburg like “country” or in our terminology “hicks”.
That’s awesome! It’s more seen as one of the birth places of Swedish Melodic Death Metal, At the Gates, In Flames, Soilwork, Dark Tranquility all building on the foundation originally laid by Carcass
Surströmming? Yeah, most definitely stay away from that.
Yes. I was there this summer.
Very cool. They have a couple of international biotech companies there.
How was it?
Since you will probably not be back on to check this, I will try to remember respond to this tomorrow.
If I forget, remind me.
The Hooker is on the mend, Bow will be happy to hear
Should have drafted him.
The Douche is cleared for practice.
Has Kirk even been on the sidelines for a game yet?

Deff not on Tuesdays.
MT and Mordor should get together and write a book.
I read a book about Mordor, actually it was a trilogy.
If you add The Hobbit it was 4 but Mordor didn’t figure into that one much.
What is a mordor?
That’d be me….
Lots of Europeans use it to refer to Russia on the Internet.
i b n to 4 xs word
Watched the first 5 minutes of ‘Hard Knocks’ in season with Miami – Mike McDaniel is awesome. Love this guy.
He’s funny, also like the whitest looking black person I’ve ever seen.
lol…
Watched this last night. Story of the Vikings 69 campaign.
1969 was the year I became a Viking fan, was 11 at the time.
Them beating my older brothers Rams was the highlight for me.
Joe Kapp and his 7 TD game vs the ‘defending NFL champions’.
Love it! Thank you for sharing. I also became a fan that year, I was 8. Great memories.
So much to love about that team.
40 for 60.
Joe refusing the team MVP award.
etc/etc.
Joe dirt once found a moon rock or meteor once.
That was probably the year my Dad got into the Vikings.
I don’t remember watching the 1969-70 season. I was 7.
I do remember watching the moon landing in July of 1969 though.
But that is the time when dominating football was real.
The question was always, would the Vikings get to the super bowl?, every year.
As opposed to the current standard of getting into the playoffs the last 45 plus years.
I remember the moon landing.
It was a full moon here and remember going outside looking at the moon trying to see the Lunar Lander.
I saw something about how 25% of Europeans don’t believe the US landed on the moon. Over 10% of Americans too.
Anyone here think it was fake?
Let me know so I can make fun of….I mean you can share your valued opinion with me.
They have a ‘Moon Rock’ on display and the Houston Space Center.
I got to touch it so it has to be real.
LOL…
Yeah, all those apollo missions never happened.
I had a neighbor who worked for NASA at the time and he designed all the quarantine stuff the astronauts had to live in after their return. If it was a hoax, it was an elaborate one. Navy sending ships out there to recover them… etc.
lol….😂
I refreshed the page and the ’69 Viking Video turned into some off the wall music video.
Here is the original in case it was not just me that it happened to.

O’Neill 63.8/82.3/44.7/6
55 offensive play vs 70 defensive ones.
Sad tale right there.
Yeah, turning the ball over repeatedly will do that.
O’Neill was having a rough time with the edge rushers out wide.
I thought that was a pretty rough game for our pass blocking.
Nice to see Ingram posting higher numbers, but WTF is up with Risner? Thought he knew how to play football.
He’s had a couple of rough games but overall I doubt anyone could tell the difference between him and Cleveland.
They’re kind of the inverse of each other, Risner is bad at run blocking but quite good pass blocking. Ingram is a decent run blocker but sucks at pass blocking. If only you could mold them into one player that could do both.
Is this correct? For the QB, do they not count interceptions? He has a higher grade than Addison.
Don’t know if I mentioned it…
but I love Danielle Hunter.
Had a 1 point lead in FF going into MNF. I had Hunter at IDP. My opponent had Dobbs.
He was projected to beat me by 25.
Dobbs’ interceptions and Hunter’s performance combined to give me the victory – over my opponent AND the median.
With two weeks left of the regular season I’ve secured a playoff spot and the 1st round bye for a 4th straight year.
#HunterDefensiveMVP
Resign for big money or let him walk? I am honestly torn… I lean towards re-sign.
I’m also torn. It sucks that his career was derailed by injury – he’d be north of 100 sacks by now.
Great breakdown of KOCs play calls when he has a lead late in the past 3 games.
Looks like he doesn’t trust his players not to fuck up?
Kevin O’Connell’s play-calling in critical drives the last 3 games ⬇️
𝐕𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐮𝐩 𝟐𝟕-𝟏𝟗 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐎𝐫𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 (𝟔:𝟏𝟓 𝐥𝐞𝐟𝐭)
1st — Ty Chandler run for 2 yards
2nd — Ty Chandler run for -4 yards
3rd — Dobbs pass incomplete
4th — Punt
• Vikings intercept Winston with 3:13 left
1st — Ty Chandler run for no gain
2nd — Ty Chandler run for -1 yards
3rd — Ty Chandler run for -1 yards
4th — Punt
• Vikings intercept Winston with 1:56 left
1st — Ty Chandler run for 3 yards
2nd — Ty Chandler run for 6 yards
3rd — Dobbs run for no gain
4th — Punt
Vikings win after Saints failed Hail Mary. Chewing clock is understandable to a point but at what point do you just put the game away and stop giving them chances? Defense was tremendous here and the offense was zero help.
𝐕𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐮𝐩 𝟏𝟕-𝟏𝟓 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫 (𝟏𝟎:𝟑𝟕 𝐥𝐞𝐟𝐭)
1st — Mattison run for 5 yards
2nd — Mattison run for 1 yard
3rd — Dobbs pass incomplete to Addison
4th — Fake punt to Chandler for 31 yards
1st — Mattison run for no gain (MN holding)
1st — Dobbs pass to Mattison for -1 yards
2nd — Dobbs scramble for 1 yard
3rd — Dobbs pass to Chandler for 19 yards
4th — Dobbs scramble for 2 yards
1st — Dobbs to Hockenson for 4 yards
2nd — Dobbs to Hockenson for 11 yards
• Ball is now down at the 12 yard line
𝟏𝐬𝐭 — 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐫𝐮𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐧𝐨 𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧
𝟐𝐧𝐝 — 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐮𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐧𝐨 𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧
𝟑𝐫𝐝 — 𝐃𝐨𝐛𝐛𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬
𝟒𝐭𝐡 — 𝐅𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐆𝐨𝐚𝐥
Vikings settle for a FG from the 12 yard line and go up 20-15 with 3:17 left. Could’ve been more aggressive here and played for a TD to make it a 2 possession game. Denver scores a TD on the next drive and wins the game.
𝐕𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐮𝐩 𝟏𝟎-𝟗 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐠𝐨 (𝟑:𝟐𝟕 𝐥𝐞𝐟𝐭)
— Mattison up the middle for no gain
— Mattison to the right for 1 yard
— Dobbs pass to Powell for -1 yards
— Punt with 2:35 left
Bears kick a field goal on the next drive and win the game. Could’ve been more aggressive here to seal the game with first downs.
Each post-game press conference O’Connell talked about finding a balance between clock management and putting the game away but each week calls a conservative game and doesn’t put the game away. Beyond frustrating to watch and listen to week after week. O’Connell is better than this. The Vikings are better than this.
Here’s the link to the post
Ok skoldiers
Maybe. You have a lead, you’re defense is playing really well, and you have a backup QB that’s not always very accurate with his throws, what do you do?
Run wildcat with Danielle Hunter….
Apparently you lose.
Good breakdown and I don’t like the conservative ways. Problem is too many fans want it both ways. If he was more aggressive and lost then he’s an idiot and should have been more conservative. I am of the thinking of don’t stop doing what got you the lead in the first place.
Same. I’ll never understand the idea of taking your foot off the gas or going away from what is successful. Same goes for defensive calls. Fields has no field awareness and isn’t capable of progressing past his first read. How do you stop that? Pressure…. Come at him and force him to decide early, most likely he makes the wrong choice.
Isn’t the problem here – What were we doing well to fall back on? Run? Pass? I wonder.
On defense, agree, keep pressure.
I’m a big believer in momentum. Teams thrive off it.
When you get a big TO, you need to capitalize.
Issues I have is we can barely run against a 7 man front. We basically stand zero chance against an 8 man front. Teams are playing the run here, and we just run into a wall of defenders.
Under 2 minutes? 100% do this. But we start doing this with almost 4 minutes on the clock.
You don’t need to go 3 passes.
Just mix in 1 play action pass on either first or second.
If you don’t trust your QB to run 1 PA pass, then you should have benched him.
Find a way to win or find another job.
Normally I would agree. If Kirk and JJ were playing and they stacked box, play action to JJ on first down.
Now, Dobbs has thrown four int’s. They are stacking inside and Dobbs throws to the outside are scarry – like pic six stuff.
So, whether I like it or. not, running is prudent.
That’s a valid concern.
But if you don’t trust your QB to run since he fumbles and you don’t trust him to pass since he throws Picks, then why are you even playing him?
I think this is the last we see of Mr Dobbs.
After the Denver game, they asked him about the play calls on the 2nd to the last series and he said he would 100% make those same ones again.
And he made them again this game. But now he’s talking about options at QB.
I believe he’s done calling plays to make sure Dobbs doesn’t mess them up.
It’s a tough situation for a play caller.
Not sure were he’s at, just hope he figures it out and we can get bac on track some.
I really hate Zimmerball but sometimes understand. the need for it.
Well up until Monday night he was the only QB on the roster other than Mannion that was fully healthy, now that Mullens and Hall are completely recovered they actually have options and KOC said he considered putting Mullens in the Bears game. my guess is the starting QB at LV in a couple weeks is named Not Josh Dobbs
I’d lean towards Mullens.
Would rather see Hall though.
That’s my thought as well, the fact that Mullens was active and Hall was the inactive emergency QB kinda indicates the pecking order the HC has at the QB position. Teams not going anywhere, Mullens is a decent backup nothing more, might as well see if Hall can make it a full quarter before getting hurt.
“I see him every day in practice”…
The coaches know what every QB on the team can, and cannot do.
Me too.
But we will get Mullens since we are still right in the play off hunt and he’s a known commodity.
We probably get us 1 in done in the playoffs with him.
Which is fine as long as the Packers don’t get a playoff spot.
That would suck.
Losing to the Bears really sucked.
lol… just as I’m worried my post is too long MTViking comes in and says ‘Hold my Labatt…’
I aim to please.
I only kid…. I enjoy your posts. Well thought out – often worth the read.
I’m sensing a theme…
I know kfey loves my pointless anecdotes, hopefully he pops in to enjoy this one.
I have headscratching moments with the HVAC guys at our shouse. The owner is the nicest guy, knows his stuff, explains his reasoning for things clearly…but something is lost in translation with his guys.
For example, we installed a HRV (ventilation system) in the addition as the shouse didn’t have one and we are plagued with excess humidity in the winter (radiant floor heat). They installed the HRV, added a vent loop to the studio, and left it in full ventilation mode which rapidly reduced the humidity and actually made it too dry, but when the perfotaping was done the humidity was much higher and we noticed water pooling under the HRV unit, tape was sodden and hanging down. I climbed up and they hadn’t hooked up a drain to the unit which was the source of the water, etc etc.
They hooked up a drain and routed it outside, drain end froze up unit backed up with condensate blah blah.
Now I get it is a work in progress and they meant well.
While they are working on that and putting in a storage tank for hot water, unbeknownst to me they flipped the exhaust end of the boiler system 180 degrees so the elbow outside the shouse points up (yesterday). Apparently they did this because they noticed we had developed a perfectly functional way of managing the condensation that drips from that pipe, mainly angling a heavy piece of 1″ OSB against the wall under it to protect the gas meter from icing over.
So I am working late yesterday, get home at 10 walk the dogs, eat a little something, go to bed. Wake up at 3 and notice the temp in our studio is four degrees below set point (odd for radiant heat), well I’ll figure that out at 6. When the alarm goes off I mention this to my wife and she tells me about the exhaust end being turned 180 degrees. I go out to boiler and it is gargling the condensate and won’t stay fired (I’m sure there’s some fail safe in the system to prevent ingress of CO). Water has come back along the 4″ vent and dripped into the utility room. FFS. I grab a ladder, go outside and turn the elbow 180 degrees so it points down, a quart of water drains out and within minutes the boiler starts happily heating the shouse.
Buncha nincompoops.
I popped in, on site cleaning up a network closet because other vendors fucked it up. Getting clients wifi back up, heated floors are a life goal of mine but I will probably never be so lucky to have Dr $$$. Lottery it is.
There ya go! Odds of winning the lottery are a lot lower but the process of buying lottery tix is much easier than the whole MD slog.
Didn’t read it.
So I’m either sorry that happened to you or happy for you….or both.
I’m suspish when someone takes the time to post that they didn’t take the time to read…for all you know the meaning of life is there.
Fine. I’ll read it
I just going to assume this was all a metaphor for sex.
Gargling condensate-gross
Won’t stay fired- they got pills for that.
Wife says exhaust end turned 180 degrees – that’s hot.
Madden Franchise Challenge Update:
Tyrod Taylor hurt 3rd play of the season – out until week 11.
Flacco QB2. Limped to a week 1 victory on the strength of a Flacco-Julio Jones combo that was unstoppable. Kicked a 58 yard walk off with ‘Punt God’ Matt Araiza. 17-14. 1-0.
Traded a 7th to Miami for Kellen Mond.
Week 2. Start Flacco. Lose Julio for the season. Late pick 6 by Javelin Guidry seals a 23-17 win. 2-0.
Sign DeSean Jackson from FA
Week 3. Flacco knocked out with a broken finger. Mond in. Run for 115 yards with Mond, but throw 2 picks, including the back breaker in the RedZone. Lose 21-17. 2-1
Week 4. Started Mond. Flacco out 2 weeks. High percentage throws and designed scrambles lead to Mond’s best day as a pro. 85 yards rushing. 220 passing. 3 total TD’s. Zero turnovers. Marquise Goodwin takes the 2nd half kickoff to the house. 35-10. 3-1.
Kicking off week 5 after I finish my morning coffee.
Dark dispensary gummies are unreal. With a sore throat I didn’t put flame to flower once yesterday and was stoned to the bejesus most of the day.
Also watched ‘Interstellar’ again. Great movie.
Skol.
What ever happened to Araiza?
He’s been cleared of any wrongdoing but for whatever reason still can’t get a job in the NFL. I think he signed with some mexican football league or something.
They chose not to press any charges.
‘Victim’ still says he did it.
So either it was a coverup or not enough ‘evidence’ either way or she is trying to get paid.
Except she has turned down every offer of a settlement, she filed with the police the morning afterwards and had a medical exam. Not sure what she thinks she can get at this point.
Since I have no further information I will just have to go with ‘He said/She said’ at this point.
Charges never filed. Currently suing his accuser for defamation. Remains a FA.
Now that’s a proper sick day!
I tweaked my ankle at volleyball last night, so I am leaving work at noon to RICE it, nap, read, play video games and watch a movie. I have to use four hours vacation this month or lose it anyway, so party time the rest of the day soon!
Good for you! Sick day #2 on tap today. I’ll get more accomplished around the house today, but not much. Determined to kill this virus as soon as possible. December is a busy month.
Yeah, I want to heal up sooner rather than later, too. My running progress is going to get wrecked otherwise.
The Vikings currently sit in the #7 seed for the playoffs .5 games ahead of LA, FTP, and NO, though own the head to head tiebreaker over NO. Looking at the schedules, The Rams have by far the toughest left. Vikings and FTP have similarly weak schedules left and NO has a weak schedule as well.
i hate that we have choked our way to letting the packers be so close to us.
love doesn’t look like crap anymore. i hate it.
Just wait until the Packers get the 7 seed, lose round 1 to the 9ers and then sign Kirk in the offseason for a run in 2024.
i would be a bad vikings fan for wanting that to happen and then green bay win a superbowl, right?
yes
yeah that’s what i thought. shoot.
Love is still not any good, he played well last game though.
idk man, IDK…
it would be our luck he keeps getting better and better
Re-assuring your take on Love. First time ( Thurs) I watched a FTP game other than the Vikes game and my kids and I were saying “What the heck, guy looks good”. He had a few side arm throws I thought were pretty good.
Let’s see how he does against the Chiefs.

Media are scum. And they wonder why we don’t trust them.
I was a journalism major back in the day, and I never got along with any of my classmates. It was getting taken over by activists even then.
Kids came to college normal, and then something weird happened. It wasn’t even the teachers, I don’t think. Teachers were fairly normal then.
Like one guy, year one he was a regular dude. By year four he had two-toned hair, painted fingernails and radical ideas about anything.
All of that can be workable, but none of it was rational. It was all done in rebellion.
Yes they are.
I hope they sue the reporter that started this and any that have ran with it into oblivion.
So dumb. I will never forget when I was on the Rez, the only people pissed about the Redskins name were the Redskin fans who were pissed it was changing lol. Also there was a Redskins program that bought us 5 helmets among other things every year. The second the name changed that went away lol.
Yeah, he’s still an inaccurate int prone QB but he played better last game.
I think you need to score points to win games… we should try that.
We rank 9th in offensive yards per play and 9th in opponent yards per play.
However, we were 5th in yards per play until Kirk got hurt…I am guessing that if we did the work to see where we ranked since Kirk got hurt it would not be pretty – guessing 15th or lower.
But hey, WE HAVE A QB WHO CAN RUN!!!!
Yay, our problems are solved, finally! Superbowl, Baby!
Oh, wait…
Hate to break it to you.
Kirk wouldn’t take the team to the superbowl either.
‘Kirk wouldn’t take the team to the superbowl’
Not even if we told him he could drive his van?
We’ll never know, now that he’s out for the season, right?
Yes, we do know definitively that Kirk will not take them to the SB because he can’t play.
In a certain way, yes. In yet another way, no.
Yes.You are correct.
For this year or any year in the future.
What if he bought tickets?
Could be worth a try, I heard a famous coach once said that the team that scores the most points wins. Worth a shot.
Boom!
Sounds like pointism to me…
Not fair to the teams that don’t score points and its beyond their control.
I apologize from the deepest, darkest bottom of my heart, please don’t cancel me. Pointism is wrong, I was wrong to point out that pointism could possibly do any good, which obviously it can’t because it’s evil.
Did I get it right? 😁
Ha! Yes you did! Apologies accepted
That’s just crazy talk….
We’re doomed!
KOC is drawing heat over his play calling and probably well deserved. But one observatioin I found particularly interesting.
With Dobbs we need to run more RPO’s. So, we have a QB with a propensity to fumble, a back with a propensity to fumble, and run a play we haven’t practiced all year that has a high degree for a chance for a fumble.
Sounds good on paper I guess.
Have to dance with the one that brung ya. Dobbs is far more dangerous with his legs than he is with his arm. That’s his Stock-in-trade. KOC didn’t seem to change the offense to use him that way though after the Hock hand-off and subsequent disasterous fumble by Dobbs.
If you can’t use his strength, and he can’t beat teams with his arm, you’re left pretty much empty handed at the QB position.
after seeing some of the designed run calls for Fields against us, i would love to see some of those calls for Dobbs. especially on 2nd downs. let’s not get to 3rd downs if we can help it. we seem to love 3rd downs.
I’d rather see Dobbs on the bench and Mullens or Hall in the game.
i’d rather that as well. i should have prefaced that with IF dobbs is the qb.
me too. You have Addison, JJ, and Hock for a reason…that is to throw them the damn ball.
Amen – that’s our identity. We won last year throwing to JJ and Hock (KJ some). This year we have added Addison, get them the ball – that’s our game!
That should be the game plan when Kirk is playing for sure, and probably Mullens.
If it’s Dobbs or Hall, you have to throw in RPO’s into the mix.
See my comment here (somewhere) about running RPO’s with a fumble prone QB and a running back that also fumbles.
Given what defenses are capable of taking away, after watching film, Still thinking our passing game is our strength.
But hope KOC figures it out.
Agree.
I saw it and you may not be wrong.
But Dobbs hasn’t fumble as much as he has thrown picks. So far anyway.
As a Viking he’s fumbled 6 times and thrown 5 picks. For the season he’s fumbled 14 times and thrown 10 picks, no matter how you look at it, he’s turnover prone.
Dobbs has lost 3 fumbles and thrown 5 picks.
He has turned it over more fumbling than picks. So far
I’d rather KOC call plays that suits the QB strength.
Keeping Dobbs and Hall in the pocket is dumb, given their running abilities.
LOL, Hall’s “running abilities” led to him getting knocked out in his first NFL start. QB needs to be able to throw from the pocket consistently, Dobbs can’t, don’t know if Hall can though.
Well watching Dobbs throw 4 INT’s from the pocket didn’t solve jack shit.
Yeah, opposing teams play a part in that with how they pass rush, and its obvious Dobbs can’t throw from the pocket and teams are scheming so as not to allow him to escape the pocket. You can of course roll him out some but that takes half the field out of the equation, or run him some, but he fumbles, so the only real solution is to replace him with someone who can function in the pocket, or run some without fumbling so much. Mullens functions well in the pocket but throws too many picks, don’t really know what Hall can do.
So what? Hall can run, injuries happen. Can’t call things from a timid perspective.
Doesn’t matter, he can’t do shit when unconscious.
Fields is built like a RB, Dobbs like a basketball player.
they both are as fast as eachother…
they both fumble a bunch…
dobb’s could make some designed runs work just fine
and like Fields, until he gets hurt.
he aint the qboft, i aint worried about his health hahaha
Fields is 6’3″ and around 225, prototypical size for a QB, RBs in the NFL are rarely above 6′ tall. Jaren Hall is built like a RB at 6′ 210, and Dobbs is actually also pretty typical size for an NFL QB at 6’3 and 220 pounds.
If Dobbs is 220, JJ is 225! He looks like a beanpole.
Some people are denser than others
Yea, that’s what my wife says about me.
Yeah I too resemble that remark
Didn’t we see a designed run in the RZ vs the Broncos? Dobbs lines up in the slot, RB flips him the ball.
How did that end again???
I don’t remember, Dobbs probably fumbled or threw a pick
Don’t you think the other teams watch film? Just me, but if I was coaching against us with Dobbs, i’d set DL wide and keep him in pocket. Now this opens up the middle of the line to running plays. But, our running game is lacking and our IOL is our weakest part of the line.
For passing, take away middle of field, none of those inside throws to Hock. Inside out coverage and you have to throw outside the numbers to beat me. Make the QB make good accuraate throws.
They seem to have figured out that if you’re going to let him scramble, make him go to the left as well. Is instinct is to go right and that was getting him twisted up a few times when he tried to scramble and there was somebody there.
That is true as well.
Yes, teams watch film. I’m sure the defense had no idea what Dobbs would do in the first game, coming in with just a couple days practice. They weren’t sure how to defend him. The next game was similar, not sure how the Vikings would use Dobbs. By the 3rd game, his traits and tendencies in the Vikings offense were pretty well defined though.
I hated that call at the time. Not the play design – the fact they did it on 4th down is what bothered me. Dobbs seems to thrive when scrambling/rolling and looking to throw. BSF hit it yesterday, the tape is out on Dobbs – keep contain and force him to throw from the pocket and it’s game over. Most of his throws are a tick late and a tad behind – combine that with lackluster arm strength and you’ve got a recipe for multiple oskies….
I’d start running some play action plays in the 4 minute offense on first or second down.
The play caller is always trying to anticipate the “look” he’s going to get on the next play after the one he’s just called. OC’s are immediately working through the call sheet for the next play based on two factors… did the play gain the expected yardage, or did it fail? If the play worked, you’re in a favorable down and distance. If it didn’t you’re not. The play sheet is broken down into down and distance plays, based on the research into the opposing teams defensive fronts they have presented in the past on those downs and distances.
As soon as the OC calls a play, he’s basically looking for two plays he can call next based on the two factors I highlighted above.
Play action usually works better when the defense fears your running game.
Or when they assume you are going to run and load up for it. Go 3 TE set and run play action with Mundt, Hock, and that other guy.
I hate the idea of calling things without trust in your guys or system. Just call the plays, these guys are professionals, he keeps fumbling, bench his ass. You can’t call plays out of fear or worry. Attack, attack, attack… just ask Flores.
I agree completely. Was merely pointing out play action is. not as effective when teams don’t respect your running game – they rush and play run on the way to the passer.
the issue here is late in game and needing to run the clock down. To your point I’m OK with calling a running play and expecting your line to block well and the back to hit the hole.
That’s fair. Run more front side zone to open up the play action for a more mobile QB… done.
This is kind of a strange observation, but now that we’ve seen Dobbs in the last two games not be “all that”, his exploits in his first two games are even more miraculous.
I guess, but how many times have you seem a QB get pulled (or hurt) and the backup comes in and lights it up …….. for a while.
Danny White and Tom Brady come to mind, as well as Roethlisberger.
i don’t have as good a memory as alot of you guys.
the only things i recall from his first two games that were of substance were his crazy good scrambles/evading sacks etc… i dont recall any specific throws that were brilliant…
that being said, the things i remember in those first two games seem to be non existent now.
gotta find a way to make that josh freeman throw out of the atmosphere hitting an astronaut dobbs
I’m not that talented
no one is.
It turned out that the P in Passtronaut is silent.
ok this is great.
Brilliant!!!
Yeah, he’s more like a pisstronaut
i’m still chuckling at the video of dobbs flexing like he’s a BOSS on his touchdown throw to hock as if he didn’t throw 4 int’s (almost 6) before that touchdown
Yeah I laughed at that too, like oh, you played like absolute trash for 58 mins but Hock makes a nice catch for a TD and you act like you actually did something, I was almost glad Chicago came back and won so he couldn’t take credit for a game winning drive after playing like the worst QB in the NFL for 99% of the game.
similar to the ENTIRE DEFENSE doing the line dance in the endzone while being down to the bears….
Yeah, I can’t stand the stupid end zone celebrations from defenses, its so lame.
get burned all game, do ONE good thing ONE time and it’s the freaking marti gras
At least the defense had been doing their job most of the game. It’s the offense’s job to score points.
totally agreed. i’m not mad at the defense for the denver or bears game at all.
I haven’t liked Dobbs “posing” after every good play he makes, like Cam Newton used to do either. That folded arms pose is just too over the top for a guy who has never done anything of significance in the league.
Have we filled our 2 practice squad positions yet? The anticipation is KILLING me.
The 49ers are favored this week by 3 points on the road at Philly, interesting…
Odd to me as well, but the Niners have the 3rd best offense and the 5th best defense in the league. The Eagles are 10th in total offense and 18th in total defense. “Total ” means yards per game by the way.
The Niners are first in defensive points allowed per game and the Eagles are 19th. On offense, the Niners and Eagles are tied for 3rd best in the league with the exact same number of points scored so far this season.
Yeah, despite the Eagles 10-1 record they have not looked dominant, almost all one score wins. SF is healthy again and back to destroying teams. I do still find it odd they are favored considering its a road game and they’re traveling from Pacific time zone to eastern.
It is interesting. But going back to training camp, Niners were still pissed over the Champoinship Game and having to oly with a RB as QB. They have a big chip.
Now this is a test of the big muscle boys and the bigger studs will win.
IMO if Purdy doesn’t get hurt SF wins the NFCCG and the SB.
agree with this.
49rs are the best team in the NFL when healthy.
I don’t know if tweets are working yet but…
he’s zimmer in disguise
Zim would have run the ball all 3 downs, at least KOC throws on 3rd down I guess
Zim wouldn’t have went for the TD either. He would have gotten in FG range and said, “All right, we got three points in the bag. Let’s not screw that up by being aggressive for a TD. We’ll take our three points and let the defense carry the day.”
Assistant Coach: “Uhm…coach…we will still be behind if we kick a FG.”
Zim: “Silence, wimp! I said the defense will carry the day!”
LOL, that actually does sound like zim, then he’d put in a huge chunk of Red Man and shoot a snot rocket at the assistant
that’s a fair point.
Boy, Chandler is really lighting it up!
Good thing the Vikings don’t play this week.
They can’t make their playoff chances any worse.
So go Cowboys, Saints and Chiefs !!!!!
Should be kinda entertaining (in a masochistic way) should the Vikes make the playoffs. Any given Sunday, though…
If the Vikings get in, nobody will give them a chance.
Which is good.
1987……
So our RB will drop a TD at the goal line in the NFCCG again?
Makes sense, but this team will not make it that far.
So they can choke in epic fashion again in the NFCCG
Question at top – Flores calls the defense. He went prevent.
Now that call looks like crap in hindsight. But we had a couple of guys that just flat out blew coverage. Even the best call in the world won’t work if you have a couple of knuckleheads do that.
Hindsight is always 20/20.
If he called blitzes on every play and got burned, it would be a different kind of complaining going on this week.
Happy Hump Day!
FPT.
Happy hump day!
Not much else to be happy about after that ugly home loss to a hapless dabears team. Our QBs suck, KOC turns into Zim when it comes to securing the W and consequently loses very winnable games, and we can’t seem to clean up the turnover issue. Another lost season, it seems…
Also, FIRST!
Good morning, SKOL!
Happy Hump Day!
Good morning!
SKOL!
YES!
Now MT has to go to the bathroom for some “private time”
