Thanksgiving Football

The Bears and Cayleb Williams looked bad for much of the game yesterday. The Lions allowed them to stay close, and then gave them a golden opportunity to come back and tie the game at the end (Does this sound familiar?). Unlike last week, the Bears were unable to complete the comeback and tie the game, mainly because of poor team discipline and poor clock management.

The Cowboys and Giants both looked pretty bad as well, especially the offenses. In the end, the Giants defense was worse than the Cowboys offense, and the Cowboys put the game away. The Giants came back with 10 garbage time points in the 4th quarter, but it was over long before then.

The Packers and the refs beat the Dolphins. Yuck.

I’m looking forward to Sunday’s game, I feel like the Vikings are going to come out strong against the Cardinals.

Didn’t get to see much of the Bears/Lions game, but I did see the hit on Williams. Room kept saying it was a legal hit, which it was, but it was a dirty hit as well. Lions definitely looking like the bounty gate Taints.

Raiders snap the ball while the QB wasn’t looking. Fumble and Chiefs got it. Raiders were in field goal range. Crazy.

No longer New Vikings Fan
29 November 2024 5:11 pm

Well, the Raiders forced the Chiefs to punt, and now have the ball at their 12 yard line, trailing by two, with just under two minutes remaining, and no timeouts. Plenty of time to get into field goal range to win it at the buzzer!

Chiefs gifted another win. Raiders had the ball at the Chiefs 32, with 15 seconds left. The center snapped the ball unexpectedly, the QB wasn’t looking, the ball bounced off his chest, and the Chiefs recovered. Bizarre finish. What a way to lose a game.

Nice. We cleaned up the turkey last night, put everything in containers, and put most of it in the freezer. Love turkey sammiches, with cranberry sauce. We’ll also add turkey to salads. Enchiladas sound good. My wife is of Mexican descent (Texas girl) and she is a great cook.

I call mine ‘Big Ol Stupid White Guy Enchiladas’.
My mom’s always had onions and cheese in them, my Nana’s always had hard boiled eggs and cheese. I asked her about them once and she said traditionally enchiladas were a way to use up leftovers. And after Thanksgiving I always had lots of leftover turkey so……
At the Prison they were a big hit for potlucks, have had several coworkers ask me for the recipe. Non-traditional ingredients and mine are as big as oversized burrito’s.

I think my wife sees enchiladas the same way. Leftovers. She’s made them a number of different ways over the years. Ground beef, ground chicken, onions, cheese, etc. She doesn’t make them huge though.

Damn, now I want a burrito and some refried beans.

When making them for events, guests, potlucks, etc I use shredding chicken often put into the crockpot overnight.
I usually add mushroom and corn and even olives, things that I like. Had one co-worker who was a bit of a foodie said ‘these are so interesting, every bite gives you something different’. I took it as high praise. Also a Mexican co-worker who asked for the recipe so she could make them for her parents made my day. Another one was going to make them for her new in-laws.

That is high praise… I’m no foodie though. I’m pretty basic in my tastes. My wife has gotten my diet down to a science though, over the years. Seasons, types of onions I like, food combinations, etc. She has a knack for putting dishes together I enjoy.

I make what I like, meatloaf, enchiladas, lasagna, goulash, etc. Each time I tweak the recipe a bit until I really, really like it.
The Teacher likes it when I cook since it means she doesn’t have to. She is a good cook but being forced to by her mom and ex means she doesn’t enjoy it as much.
Since retirement I occasionally try new things but the staples are always in the rotation.

Germany does Beer differently, at least they did when I was there last.
No preservatives and no ‘national beer’.

German brands that we have here (Molson, Heineken, etc) can’t be brewed the same way in Germany.

Dear Lord, the battles we go through life,

We ask for a chance that’s fair

A chance to equal our stride,

A chance to do or dare

If we should win, let it be by the code,

Faith and Honor held high

If we should lose, we’ll stand by the road,

And cheer as the winners go by

Day by Day, we get better and better!

Packers may be better than the Lions – we’ll see.
I’m usually not one who gets into the refs deciding games and all. But, there has been a lot of discussion here recently so I’m paying more attention.
Noticed the Giants and when there terrible offense did make a big play, offensive holding. The Cowboys just about as bad an offense, make a big play no holding call. Yet, replays show several of the Cowboy lineman could be candidates for the WWE.
I’m starting to wonder.

It’s all very subjective for sure.

Keenan Allen gets his helmet ripped off. Replay was very close with hand upon his face. No call.

Then a D lineman from da Bears barely touching the front of a Lions helmet, and illegal hand to the face is called.
