The Vikings re-signed Danielle Hunter over the weekend. I think this is a smart move by KAM, as the team has already lost Za’Darius Smith this off-season, and they don’t want to part with ALL of their defensive playmakers. Furthermore, it makes little sense to get rid of a playmaker like Hunter unless you get an offer you can’t refuse. Hunter was (once again) disgruntled about his contract, so the team was all but forced to do something if they didn’t want to open training camp with tension in the locker room. Word is that the deal is a one-year deal worth $20 million with $17 million guaranteed. My guess is that 2023 will be Hunter’s last season in purple.

Either everyone is OFO today, or I’m on the wrong thread.
Lizzo body shaming? I may have to take her poster down off my wall.
Had a FOOB walk into the Colstrip clinic 3 hours later with a nicely displaced intertrochanteric fracture. They make ’em tough in eastern MT.
Mystery solved…
Kirk Cousins took the practice field Tuesday wearing … No. 66?
The Vikings quarterback traded in his red, no-contact No. 8 practice jersey for a red 66 as a good-natured nod to a teammate.
When Minnesota signed Ryan Wright last season as an undrafted free agent, the punter was given No. 66 – “Not really a swaggy number,” as Cousins said – during training camp.
Wright battled it out against Jordan Berry throughout camp and impressed Vikings coaches, winning the role of starting punter.
“Against the odds [as the rookie], he made the team,” Cousins said. “I wanted him to stick with the 66 for his whole career, but he went to 14. So then I asked if he could go back to 66 for training camp every year just to humor me.”

You mean Lifer and other twitterers thoughts of Kirk wanting a better OL with the support of Risner was fake and false?
Shocking I tell you.
Laughing… probably not intentionally so. We all make mistakes. Me included.
QB Kellen Mond will start against the Jets in Thursday night’s Hall of Fame Game, coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters.
Mond is currently listed as QB3 on the Browns depth chart behind Deshaun Watson and Josh Dobbs.
Here are a few injury updates from Vikings practice on Tuesday, which saw several players get banged up.
Now we got stoners who can text and drive in Minny. Good times indeed.
I’d probably need a little sedation to drive in MSP any more.
$2.99 a month? Takes me 5 minutes to type a word. Good luck.
Any reason why daily threads are getting spotty? Is someone out sick or something.
Not sure. GF and Mick checked out it seems. I’d do it but don’t know how. Think Lifer knows, someone else maybe. Skoldiers but he just changes the front page.
Wage growth has led to fiscal responsibility. US credit rating downgrade donchaknow?
Think Booth and Evans non factors. Fragile people.
Goessling thinks Risner is a slim chance.
But he is just a baby goose. They know nothing.
Rut Row….👀
War is coming Lifer. Lock and load.
I’ll keep’m at bay with my power washer!
LOL. Forgot the new weapon.
So one candidate will be in four different trials (two federal) and the other will be under the scrutiny of an Impeachment iInvestigation by congress.
Ain’t things peachy.
Lol…Kfey you little sawed off shit….if you don’t think this is funny shit from Kirk today then you don’t have a sense of humor.
So does this mean Cousins think Risner is better than Cleveland and Ingram?
Yes
Is this real? One thing about Kirk, he doesn’t throw people under the bus. This seems strange.
Makes zero sense.
Correct
Not sure what sawed off is supposed to mean but that is pretty funny. If theres something im NOT lacking its sense of humor, its usually dark, so this falls under that. It did take him 6 years. If Kirk drops an F bomb on game day I might get on board.
How Purple like. Go Twins!
Dalvin Cook on line 1…
Is there enough money left after Hunter deal?
You can structure a deal with void years so you can keep the cap hit low.
Think Dalvin better come to roost somewhere pretty quickly.
Yikes
LOL Love Pac Mans response to this nonsense. “Bull Shit!” Yes it is Pac Man, yes it is.
Hahahhaah he’s hurt already
Does he need more training?
Cut him, FFS.
If Cine nor Booth see much playing time this year, year one draft will be complete trash.
Cine ran a 4.37 forty so I think that is why KAM took him over Kyle Hamilton. Can’t coach speed. That said, so far he hasn’t usurped anyone in the safety room yet.
You’re starting to sound like Skolly.
Let’s assume the worst and your above comes true, draft “classes” need to be evaluated as a whole. Granted, you expect more from 1st and 2nd round picks, but they don’t all work out and if you can get contributions from lower round and/or UDFA signings, the overall class can still be good.
Frankly, just like it’s too early to call “busts” it’s also too early to call “booms” (I.e. lower round guys that surprise/delight). But, if you’re already calling potential “busts” with Cine and Booth, here’s the list of potential “booms”:
Ingram – played every snap, IIRC, and ascending in 2nd half of season as long as he stops stepping on Kirk’s foot
Asamoah – presumed starting LB next to Hicks
Evans – solid late round CB who’s proved he can start if he can reverse concussion issue
Wright – one of the best punters in 2022
These are all four potential long-term starters which aren’t ever projected with late round or UDFA picks.
That said, at this point, I’ll admit I’m worried about Booth. His injury rate is a definite concern but Cine doesn’t have the same history. He was banged up a little in last year’s camp, which slowed his development. And then had a flukey season ending injury in week 3…he never really had a chance to get up to speed.
I’m assuming the Vikings prioritized re-signing Hitman to help alleviate unknowns with Cine, but there’s no reason to rush him back. Cine is more like Harry than any of the other safeties, so I hope they ease him in. I’ve been a huge Georgia fan for years and Cine is a stud. I truly think he’ll be fine, and you can quote me on that down the road if I’m wrong.
Nah.
First and second round picks need to start.
If they don’t, the GM made bad picks.
If KAM has zero 1st or 2nd rounders starting by the third season, he has failed. Badly.
Lol. I thought you’ve come further than you have. Keep attending zero football classes with Skolly. 1st and 2nd round picks fail all the time. It’s actually easy to research.
But, with any luck, the Wilf’s will hire you as the next GM and we can look forward to your @100% hit rate@.
In the meantime, welcome to your extremely low credibility rate.
Lol yourself.
GM has until his third year before I criticize.
How long do you give the GM before you go postal?
Not sure why you do this Skolly. What kind of POS do you need to be to laugh at an injury, regardless of circumstances. Don’t quit your day job, whatever useless contribution to society that may be.
Think he was just referencing how often he is injured. Not a funny dig at it.
I know what he was implying but he needs to pull his head out of his ass. I hate Aaron Rodgers but I wouldn’t “ha ha ha” an injury to him or anyone else. It’s low brow and just his way of throwing another KAMtrum (TM). Not sure how he ended up an admin on a “fan” site: I don’t expect Purple kook aid but basic knowledge and respect are lost in his schtick.
Yeah, he’s a young buck. Can go off a bit. Worst thing about NFL is injuries, no doubt.
Risner dead. Likely wanted to be a starter and not happening
Seems like more of a grip and grin, we’ll keep you in our Rolodex in case someone goes down kind of thing. Feel him out, see what he looks like, talk to him about what he can do, etc.
Our guards are so good we didn’t want a competion
KOC in his presser today referred to them as “a very strong group” on the team and not one reporter said “Really Kevin? They were the combined worst two guards in the league last year”.
Meritocracy = Rasist.
Per Stupid Libs.
Sounds like media questions of the Bidens. None.
a very strong group – well, that leaves me speechless.
KOC is talking about THIS year….not last.
Well, it’s the same group so…
How about ya’ll chill, hit the bong and let’s talk about Joe, Greta, Hunter and Dylan.
F@@k the DFL. Blood sucking assholes.
^^^^^From everything I hear from my Minnesota business owners (you know, the ones who actually make the economy go) THIS IS A TRUE STATEMENT
17.5 billion surplus and trying to figure ways to get more. Waiting on my $10 rebate so i can buy a dozen eggs. Maybe Mick, by the way, he get banned? His wife toss him?
@But legalizing pot helped Calif so much.
All our problems were solved once that happened, just like the Stupid Libs said.@
Man, up and down west coast, the shit you read. GET OUT SoCAL!!
The plan is working, just have to keep our heads down until this school year is over.
NYJ @ Denver shaping up to be a must see game with all of the smack talk going down.
Week #5. 10/08
No camp news is likely good news.
No injuries. Hopefully.
Are practices at the same time every day minus the night practice?
Not sure.
I assume in general they are at the same time.
Think walkthroughs early, on field 2ish.
Can’t afford. Remember whe JJ faked the injury then did the griddy on a TD pass? That SOB, thought it was real. I don’t know how you can win a SB with inflated contracts to certain positions. Passing league. QB-45 mil. WR- who knows with JJ. Tackles getting big money. We have no shot. Sorry.
No no! Kirks worth that money!! He hasnt made enough, the Vikings are EVIL for demanding he ask for less money. Meanwhile dip shit Rodgers gives up $35 mil (a drop in his total earnings sure) for his team to go get players.
I don’t think its the amount of money.
It’s Kirk demand that it be fully guaranteed.
For me its % of cap used and the guarantee and the no trade clauses. All hand cuffing the team.
I read these comments knowing full well if er didn’t have inflated contracts and didn’t retain guys they’d bitch about that.
Also true.
No mention of #77 today?
*Risner Update*
Some 2022 stats:
Guard #1: 9 sacks given up, 3 penalties
Guard #2: 9.5 sacks given up, 8 penalties
Guard #3: 3 sacks given up, 2 penalties
I can’t find any associated pressure data on these players, but here they are in order:
Cleveland
Risner
If I was Cleveland, I’d be worried since LG is Risner’s natural position.
Not sure where you got that but Cleveland gave up 5 sacks and Ingram gave up a league leading 11, though risner is correct at 3
He’s not gonna start. KAM doesn’t have balls to admit Ingram sucks or the continuity with Ezra.
Will be glad to be wrong.
He’s a LG so it would be Cleveland
I doubt Risner is interested in signing up for backup duty. Ingram’s a 2nd year player so, per your usual, you’re overreacting at this point of his career. Cleveland; however, should be worried. He gave up more sacks and penalties than either Risner or Ingram, and as a “natural” left tackle, not guard, he could be interesting trade bait for a team needing a tackle.
Love how you are judging a player on their rookie year. Considering he started and practiced every week last season, and slowly improved as the season went on. It would be stupid to cast him off at this point. God forbid we get a rookie QB you and the other Krikholes are going to have ZERO patience or a leash with them.
KAM acquires the players. KOC determines who plays.
Didn’t you know…KAM is responsible for everything wrong in Skolly’s life?
I think he sees him in his nightmares. That and clowns. He has a weird obsession with clowns. I think its because inside he’s a child, and children are afraid of clowns.
That would explain the frequent tantrums.
Or should I say, KAMtrums (TM)
If you apply this philosophy to all your thoughts and comments here and outside Skoloholics, you’ll probably be the happiest person in the world.
I heard rumor the Jets plan on playing a few starters on Thursday for the HOF game? We’ve officially made it through the off season boys. We got football every week in same way, shape or form from here on out until February! SKOL
What…you couldn’t find a good Kirko gif you had to go with Keenuts?
What’s wrong with Keenuts?
Are you and others that insecure that only Cousins gifs can be posted?
Slob the knob or you will be shunned BIGGOT!
@It’s not Cousins. You are an effing idiot@
I was just following Kfey’s lead and going with the last QB I liked the most.
I know….
Good call.
@I dunno they all look the same to me@
Kirk is our QB not Keenuts. KFEY living in the past like a resentful doomer who has to blame a guy who has it all together and walks the line like he’s unable to do in his own life. It’s ok begin a hater, know you’re not worthy and hate.
KC could get it done with balance. It’s a league wide problem. Don’t see it happening. The contracts are what sucks.
Not for long. Thank God. Nah man, Im living in the future, already wayyy ahead of you 😉 I dont compare my life to others, unlike yourself. Thanks.
Yup! I’ll go with the QB that’s provided me the most joy and gotten the team farthest in the last decade for my GIF. Thank you very much.
Man, times have changed. I remember back in the late 80’s doing blood trips and there were patients post op uncomplicated (open) appendectomy in hospital for two-three days. Before my time there were the old days of the mother and baby resting in hospital for a week after delivery and dad smoking cigars out in the waiting room while mom delivered.
I read a positive appy at 4 pm yesterday. Patient had laparascopic appendectomy at 7 pm and discharged to home at 9 pm.
Yep…my wife had hip replacement a few years back… had it at 10 in the morning, we were out of the hospital by 8 in the evening….Crazy.
Had laparascopic hernia repair repair 2:00, was home by 6:00. Had a partial knee replacement at 5:00 pm and was eating dinner at home at 8:30. Time have changed.
Insurance now only covers 2 maybe 3 days after delivery, 5 if a c section
Enjoy your afternoon Skolbros. I’m about to go down for the count. Head west tonight for a contraband run into 5 country. Remember kids: Always follow the rules when you’re breaking the law….

The Beast has Arrived!
That’ll chip the paint off the garage nicely….
Yeah this thing is literally a beast…that blue component is a CAT pump that cranks up the pressure to twice as much a normal power washer. Also has that brass regulator beside it that regulates pressure to whatever you want…you can turn it way down for delicate surfaces. Also has a insertion port where you can put soap or chemicals to clean things. Haven’t fired it up yet will do that in a bit.
Can you post a video of yourself accidentally scouring the paint off your Lambo?
Not a bad idea….being thinking about a color change for the lambo…rainbow sounds in vogue.
So, you’ve gone from inflating balloons to power washing sidewalks?
Drive around Trumpville here washing off Tump bumper stickers.
That seems like a lateral move, to me.
Clean sniffers shorts.
It ain’t that strong man…nasa is working on a unit to handle that job.
No sure what Tump bumper stickers are but sounds interesting
tump

I’ve given up on the $20 power washer I picked up at the farm auction. Pisses me off I got skinned for an Andrew Jackson.
You need you one of these babies….from the reviews I read it’s the best of the bunch that packs a punch. Honda engine is good for 12 yrs even with daily commercial use if taken care of a lot longer for residential use. I did the research this is the best one before you get in to the mega expensive massive commercial ones. Power washer direct.com is the place to buy it, ships for free via R&L freight right to your doorstep.
Thanks!
I just used a power washer for the first time last Saturday on my siding.
Worked well.
Not sure what you are trying to rip off with that thing.
Maybe Joy Blowhard would look human again after you spray her down.
I said maybe.
Don’t get in line of fire with that.
Just did a section of the driveway. Gat Damn that som bitch has power 2 spare.
“Mumbler in Chief”
Should be noted videos can be altered the political landscape is ripe with altered videos of Trump and Biden among others. That said could be real who knows at this point. I’m voting for Pee Wee Herman. RIP
It’s real, just a compilation of multiple times he’s lost his train of thought and any idea of where he is.
And yet the polls over the last week indicate a tie race between Biden and Turmp, and a the demented one actually beating Desantis in a head to head.
Yep…buying votes with other people’s money.
Polls are like stats, if you skew them enough, you can make anyone look good. I remember reading after the ’16 election, when everyone questioned the results because Hillary had a commanding lead in the polls, that over 60% of the people involved in the polls were Democrats. This led to inflated poll numbers for Hillary. Some were as high as 90% Democrats, and when questioned why it was so disproportional, the pollsters claim was Republicans were too busy to answer the polls.

Lol Hall is sucking badly in camp thus far. @QB1 NEXT YEAR@
He was doing great then they gave him a little more rope and….well….being a NFL QB ain’t easy man.
Hope he starts next season so then the cave diving sunken ship of the Vikings hits full fan when we go from kirk the goat to Hall and the number 1 pick in 2025
.
Im sure you did, to an underage child.
Literally no one said or assumes he will be QB1 next year. Stop with the gas lighting.
I think I said it in jest so he’ll say that lots of people have been clamoring about it. I also said he was going to be the starter in 2023.

Thanks for owning up to it haha
I think my last theory is that he was going to end up playing this year and then they will draft a rookie with the high draft pick they get and the rook will start in 2024.
Lol if they move on from Kirk… drafting a QB in round 1 is a must even if that means were the first pick or 32nd pick
Yep.
You said Cousins would get hurt this year.
You will have to pick him up or draft him in fantasy to clinch the deal.
Still wouldn’t surprise me. Not wishing it on him, just a gut feeling.
Yeah.
He has been remarkable staying healthy, no doubt.
Vikings curse is lurking……
Bow did, but was likely a joke
Medical question…although I see the gouger isn’t on today….
Father in law has stage 3 Alzheimer’s, needs to have a minor outpatient surgery requiring anesthesia. Doc says the anesthesia can make the Alzheimer’s progress more quickly…I have done a little research and it appears the studies are a bit mixed…
Wondering if anyone has firsthand experience with this?
MT may know.
Also, sorry to hear
I’m certified!
No idea but just from a cognitive perspective anesthesia has cerebral side effects, usually gone and not noticeable from a healthy young body that can breakdown the chemical molecules, but from a older person with a less viable organ system and compromised brain with the protein build up and such, would not surprise me they have post op issues possibly making the Alzheimer’s progress more rapidly. I mean they’ve seen it or they wouldn’t be saying it can. Whether it will is likely a lot of factors, age, overall health, how advanced the Alzheimer’s is. Depends on if the current acute issue is bad enough to warrant the surgery and fix. Probably is thus you’ve gone this far. I’d ask your father in laws gouger his take and if you trust him take his advice.
Thanks for the feedback…I think we are going to go ahead with the operation, but it is a tough call.
General anesthesia definitely can cause at least short term cognitive effects. I guess you could have a discussion with the anesthesiologist about TIVA and whether that would be an option – no studies that I’m aware of that demonstrate cognitive effects from TIVA.
Thanks for your input…I may look into the TIVA thing a bit more…I don’t know why they wouldnt do it.
I’ve seen this numerous times over my career in rehab. The narcotic in general anesthesia adheres to the fatty tissues in the brain, happens so often they even have a term for it: Post-anesthesia syndrome (among others).
In most people the cognitive issues will get better after a week or so, depends on how severe their Alzheimer’s was prior. Stage III is mild, he should have minimal issues.
One thing I’ve seen with dementia over the years is trauma typically causes a sudden exacerbation of symptoms beyond the gradual progression, and they don’t quite recover to their prior cognitive status, instead they will establish a new baseline that isn’t quite as good as they used to be.
Thanks for the info,,,that is kind of what I am gathering…expect the cognitive bounce back to be not quite where he was before….
But he needs a pacemaker…down to 40 beats a minute…and it isn’t because he is a well trained athlete.
If we are going to be combining daily threads then I want a discount on my annual fees.
The word from the top is its Bidenomics….you pay the same or more for fewer goods and services…If you want to complain write the white house.
Shrinkflation.
Non-consistent daily threads….
If Budget Cuts require them to combine daily threads what makes you think they have the $$ to discount or refund annual fees?
I know right….??? and someone needs to tell VP that he is the only one paying for a subscription.
You don’t pay anything. Also, threads can handle the comment counts just fine
Then give us a z key
We could get a z key if we start to charge you all a monthly subscription fees. $2.99 a month
Stu will pay it for us! Make it happen!
Not saying that will happen, but we’ve discussed it. Sites making no money so have to find ways to increase revenue. Ads isn’t enough.
I am not paying 2.99 a month…that’s just stupid….
I would however pay 3.00 a month for this wonderful site. but I want to pay it one time each year, 36 bucks every September 1st.
Well it won’t be anytime soon bc we already struggle luring people in and that would only detour ppl even more. But maybe in the long run.
Site costs money and even to maintain this oen monthly costs alot and we make no money. Long term success comes into jeopardy if we don’t change
Also 2.99 is nothing. That’s like one grande drink at starbucks or 1 beer at a sports venue for the entire year
Oh I agree…I was making fun of the 99 at the end…just round it up to the next dollar.
lol yeah its a marketing technique. 2.99 or 3????
You need to push the site more on the social medias. People are not going to just happen upon the site very often.
We could all go on the DN and promote it. I wonder how long it would take them to kick us all out.
1/2 day.
I was just over there, roughly the same number of commentators as this site.
Is that before or after said discount?
In 2022, Cousins was hit 131 times, more than any other quarterback in the NFL. No QB has taken more hits in a season in the last decade, according to TruMedia.
From theathletic.com/4701160/2023/07/19/kirk-cousins-quarterback-netflix-vikings/
I apologize. I misread this statement. It says 131 times… more than, not 131 times more than.
@well, if he were only more mobile and or got rid of the ball more quickly he wouldn’t get hit so often@
He’s full of shit and his numbers are off and blatant lies lol. Please look it up yourself dont listen to the rube. Him saying it 3 times doesn’t make it less of a lie.
“saying it 3 times doesn’t make it less of a lie.”
Why not?
Works for most politicians.
Once it fails just change a word or two.
‘I never talked to Hunter about his business’.
“I was never in business with Hunter’.
He’s claiming a dead conductor told him he’d traveled over 1.2 million miles on Amtrak again too even though the AP, CNN the New York Post and others have debunked the story numerous times.
“Made up facts are still facts” Biden.
That dementia will make you believe the lies you have been telling your whole life are actually real.
What was his quote about facts and truth?
“We choose truth over facts”
His truth is all that matters and with a failing mind the truth to him is whatever he wants it to be.
Or create your own definitions.
“I did not have sexual relations with Monica Lewinsky.”
“Yeah, I’ve been immunized.”
That depends on what your definition of is, is.
lol…one of these things is not like the other:
Do you see the difference that all important comma and correct phrasing makes?
Punctuation is important, agreed.
Ha! even better than mine.
Let’s eat, Grandma
.
Let’s eat Grandma.
Punctuation saves lives!
LOL
Regardless its bull shit. You got that number by combining THREE different stats, that are percentages I might add.
Not at all, this is the reality, not fantasy numbers, and DEFINITELY not percentages.. Yes, I misread the 131 times more than quote. However, Cousins remains the most hit, sacked, knocked down and pressured QB in the league over the last 5 years.
He’s actually right based on his revised statement above, which wasn’t the same thing he was arguing for earlier.
Cousins took 84 QB hits and was sacked 47 times, so he was “hit” 131 times. And this is more than any other QB in 2022. He would have avoided a lot of problems if he hadn’t misquoted this information earlier, and then didn’t double down on his mistake.
Aren’t sacks also hits and therefore already included in the 84 number and by adding them for 131 you’re counting them twice?
That’s what I was wondering, although that would mean he was hit/sacked more often than he was just hit, and memory tells me he was hit a lot more than he was sacked.
The QB metric “Hits” refers to a QB that isn’t sacked but is still hit on the play. Sacks is obviously sacks. But many media outlets will report on how many times a QB is hit, which includes both Hits and Sacks. It does get confusing but they are 2 different stats.
As a confirmation example, the 2022 L.A. Rams gave up 59 Sacks and 56 Hits. That would obviously be impossible if sacks were included in the Hits metric. There were a handful of other teams last season that also gave up more Sacks than Hits.
Should be separate. Some players get half sacks. keep it simple.
Not sure what half sacks have to do with this particular thread. From a QB/offense perspective, a sack against counts as one sack, regardless as to whether the credit is split between two defenders.
I don’t like them giving 1/2 a sack when 2 defenders have their mitts on the QB. What happens when 3 defenders do it?
Replace the word “soup” with “sack”…
Nothing really. I always thought they were separate. What constitutes a hit by the way?
Reread my earlier comment that you were responding to. I explain it in the first paragraph (or I meant to, anyway).
: )
I didn’t see anything that defined what a hit was.
Is pushing a hand onto the QB’s body a “hit” after the ball is already gone?
If he has to retie a shoe? KC gets touched om most every play. Bottom line, throw stats out, he’s getting his ass kicked alot.
To clarify further, it’s only when a QB is knocked down to the ground by a defender, so Ingram repeatedly stepping on Kirk’s foot doesn’t count.
Can’t believe they haven’t fixed that. He must lead the league in sacks.
Got it.
Thanks for reposting.
Perhaps I’m naive, I don’t understand in an absolute sense the argument over QB hits etc. Preciseness of stats is nice, but is that the real point here. Getting your QB hit a lot is not good for any team, and just from my eyeball test, ours get hits a lot. Sooner or later, there will be a day of payment if that continues. We don’t need that.
I mentioned last week, we’re not running the 49er offense – 3 yard hitch to deebo or 5 yard slant to kittle and they take it to the house. Our plays need more time and JJ runs deeper routes.
So is there doubt we need to protect better, and then we might make more plays.
So who cares if it’s 131 0r 101 or whatever?
Well reasoned.
QB hits are bad no matter if they are considered sacks, hits, pressures, hit after throws, etc.
I mean MTF – milking mice over some number that can be wildly inaccurate but is precisely right on the broader point.
‘Stats will say whatever you want them to say if you torture them enough’.
That is why you have to look at who is paying for the ‘research’ before you can believe the data. #climatechange
@what an idiot. If government paid science says you must stop driving your car, you better do it. shut up and obey@
Heil Biden!!
JR, this is just KFEY hating on me. Nothing more. He’s making it personal and ever more vitriolic with me. It’s a blog, and he’s a blogger.
Blogger = keyboard warrior??
He’s a guy on a keyboard with an axe to grind… nothing more.
Perhaps, but he’s the guy that only wants to win a SB he claims. That being the case, hate to tell him and anyone else that cares, it starts with Blocking and Tackling. You’re broader point was about blocking.
Tackling – watch 49ers, Ravens, Steelers play.
We need to improve in both areas.
Drastically.
No shit, im not naïve to that. But perfect blocking and tackling dont exist on any team, it always breaks down, even for the best of lines.
You are not getting it.
They need excuses in their all out worship of Cousins.
Oh wondered where you had been – right there to support Fkey.
Did you read what I wrote or just regurgitate your usual crap.
Do you disagree about QB hits? Do you think our QB is hit to much, or might our offense do better with more time?
Or, the usual slight of hand here.
Yeah. Cousins gets hit.
He’s paid to be the QB.
Part of the job description.
I don’t think these hits, improved OL or improved defense will matter when Cousins has to win on the final drive in the playoffs.
You can disagree all you want.
“You can disagree all you want.”
This is not the way we do it here!
Why are you afraid to answer questions directly? Just curious – I’m used to it in Washington, just didn’t expect it on a football site.
Well, no shit. Our blocking and tackling are substandard. Why throw in”perfect”. We would improve ALOT with just average blocking and tackling.
KFEY?
Lmao. Thats startling how so far off that is. Iv posted picture’s of myself on the DN before. Nice try tho
Billie is looking much better. gets her stitches out in 6 days.
Did she have a tumor?
No, an infected salivary gland that had to be removed. We did think it was a tumor when we brought her to the vet. Lump in her throat very near her thorax.
Oh that’s good news. She is healing nicely.
Big improvement!
She is a sweet girl. My wife noticed a small lump in her throat and asked me to feel it. I honestly didn’t think it was anything to be concerned about, but she called the mobile vet we have to come out and take a look. The vet said we needed to get her aestheticized so the lump could be aspirated and analyzed. We did that and they came back with the diagnosis a few days later that she had an infected salivary gland. They recommended surgical removal which we agreed to do. She is a trooper and sleeps next to me while I’m working.
I don’t think Risner is going to replace anyone. Agree with this take:
Morning skolholes
Finally a break from the 100+ degree temps we have had for about 3 straight weeks now. Only 98 today, then 3 more days of blessed upper 90s before getting back into the 100s.
Expecting thunderstorms today so humidity is ‘soaring’ to 27% today.
Anyone want any of my preseason tickets?
Sell them dirt cheap at 25 bucks a piece…actual cost to me is 35 bucks a piece.
I have 4 tickets.
Include airfare and personnel security for Murderapolis and I am in.
You got your own weapon?
Heard it was like Calif.
Self Defense was not allowed.
It is for criminals.
I figured you were a criminal.
My bad.
Criminal/retired Peace Officer = same difference out here in LaLa land.
The Lions are viewed as the front runners in the division by most pundits, despite the Vikings 13 wins in 2022. To me, it will be on the offense (once again) and a potentially slightly improved defense to defend the North.
That said, unfortunately, the offense will likely need to average around 30 points a game to do that. Is the second year leap in the same offense capable of doing that?
Absolutely. The correct path to improve the offense is establishing a better power running game ala San Fran and put the passing game in a better position.
The defense just needs to get points allowed around 17-20 ppg and this team is a contender. Still a lot to ask beating the NFC powerhouses Eagles / Niners but have the right complimentary team playing well who knows.
25 to 30 is pretty big on average. Don’t you think we can count on our defense improving some.
WRT Detroit. Hear the narrative everyday. We’ll see
Scoring that many points per game would put the Vikings at the top of the league offensively. I’m talking top 3…
If the defense held teams to a league average scoring level of less than 22 points a game, the Vikings could win a lot of games.
Other thing to remember is we don’t HAVE to win every regular season game (though it would be awesome), just enough to get to the playoffs.
THEN they gotta hold other teams down, and score enough.
You make a good point about playoff football. Dallas/49ers had good offenses last year but that playoff game was pure defense at its best. The skill guys became secondary to the trench warfare and physicality of the defenses.
Some folks think the Bears, who have the most cap space in the NFL at over $27M could be a suitor for Dalvin Cook. Their “stable” of running backs include D’Onta Foreman, Khalil Herbert and rookie Roschon Johnson. Not exactly a murderer’s row of RB’s. Dalvin could add an element to that offense they don’t have… an explosive back who can catch the ball out of the backfield and pick up the blitz.
Wouldn’t that be a kick in the head?
They don’t need RBs. They have Justin Fields.
K
I think the Bears are looking elsewhere for some situations to play out like Chris Jones in KC. Get a defender like him changes the entire landscape of their defense.
I think Roschon Johnson is the clear cut guy by week 6. Barring injury.
Am I correct in understanding that Hunter’s new deal eats up our available cap, leaving us with 3.5million?
We’d have to move someone to make more cap, right?
Found this tidbit that could explain why no team sniffed him in FA until now:
Hunter has two void years on his new contract at $5.62M each year ($11.24M total) that don’t count against this years cap. Currently, Over the Cap is showing the Vikings Team Cap Space is $18,104,012.
I don’t believe they’ve release the Hunter contract details publicly yet hence why our cap space number is the same at $18.1 on Over the Cap and Spotrac as it was last week at this time. I had estimated we had about $10 left after the Hunter deal but have to wait and see.
I believe the cap space will be around $10 million once OTC get’s it on their webpage.
His signing bonus was spread over two years.
7.6 million this year and 5.6 million next year.
18 million minus the 2023 bonus of 7.6 million equals about $10 million in cap space.
Cap space will go UP after roster moves down to 53.
You don’t seem to be counting the $5.62M in 2025. You have to subtract that from the cap hit this year as well right?
Maybe you can more sense of this than me.
Yeah. It’s not making sense to me.
Hunter was at about $5.5 million before the deal, now they are showing $13 million ish. The increase for 2023 is about $8 million so that’s where I come up with about $10 million in cap space for 2023. My gut says OTC hasn’t updated the cap space number.
Yeah… fuzzy math to me.
Won’t cap space go down?
During the offseason they only count the top 51 salaries – once season starts they count ALL salaries against the cap.
Yes but no.
The roster will be cut down to 53 by the time the top 51 deadline ends. It’s basically the same day.
So overall, at 53, the cap space will go up until they sign other players from FA cuts.
They add 2 more rostered salaries, plus all PS salaries at that time.
It doesn’t add up to a whole lot, but it does take away from the cap.
The highest salary to add is $940,000 so 2 players will only be adding like $2 million
They have to cut 40 players ish.
If the average of those players saves $250,000 each, that’s $10 million gained from cutting down to 53.
I think cap space will go up more than that, initially.
I’m not understanding your computation.
The majority of those 40-ish players are not counted towards the cap because they are below the top-51 line.
Once we get to the 53, you need to subtract the 2 extra players’ cost from the available cap (roughly 2m).
You also need to subtract the 16 salaries from the practice squad from the available cap – that reduces it another 3.45 million.
So that’s a loss of 5.45 million in cap space when the roster cuts down to 53.
Also, anyone on IR or PUP still counts towards the cap, so if we have anyone injured at that time that decreases it even more.
I’ve been using OTC and they are different from Spotrac.
Per Spotrac Right now the top 51 is $203 million, so adding 2 million to 53 is $205 million.
2023 Cap number is around $224 million.
I still say available cap space will go UP immediately after roster cuts. You are correct that signing FA and practice squad guys will count against the cap. So yeah, after they are signed, cap space will go down
We will see how it plays out I guess.
Not something a teammate should do – I agree. But on the other hand, the entire league seems to have bent over for Diggs after he cussed out Josh Allen on the sidelines. And did even more later.
I’m more worried about the guy going to the sidelines and not caring if the team is struggling. Get pissed, talk shit and go back out there like a bunch of crazed dogs.
It’s not great, but not a dealbreaker IMO. Teammates fight. Daron Payne and John Allen went at it a few years ago in Washington. TO and Hugh Douglas in the Eagles locker room. Percy Harvin and Harrison Smith came to blows during Hitman’s rookie year. Maybe the most famous sideline tussle of all, albeit with coaches, is when Buddy Ryan took a swing at Kevin Gilbride when they both were in Houston.
This is the “pussification” of the league. Condemning a man for shoving another man on the sidelines. Such boorish behavior… such a brute. So terrible. Laughable.
Need to get that toxic masculinity out of football. I mean think about the kids these guys are setting an example for. We can’t have the kids thinking being tough and confident is a good thing.
Seems like the Vikings defense got the message. The 49ers defense, not so much.
I have something important to post.
But I’m not going to post it until the higher ups wake up and realize it’s a new day.
So yall going to have to wait.
Not that long ago we were being admonished on here for the content of the conversation – but it would appear that those doing the admonishing don’t care enough to post a daily thread when they have the capability – which is required for us to have a DAILY discussion, regardless of topic – instead they ‘drop by’ and see that everything is ‘ok’ in their estimation so no point in burning the 120 seconds it takes to post the thread.
Can’t have unworthy daily conversation if there’s no daily discussion.
True. Also can’t ‘build the site’ – which was the impetus behind the complaint regarding the conversational content. Different day, different standard I suppose.
No new thread today, you’re stuck here. I updated the title
I say we perma ban Mick since he thinks he’s just going to stroll back when the season starts. These kids, no loyalty.
I agree, Mick can GTFO
I perma banned him
9 days from 1st preseason game and we stop posting threads. Place is going to hell.
Brad sucks, cut him
He’s retired…..LEAVE BRAD ALONE!
I thought he was just taking a break, decomposing or whatever
Rip Brad
Laughing… he isn’t dead… decompressing maybe… decomposing? Hope not.
But he is average at best according to some on this site…
6th best QB in league according to players/executives….
But hey… KAM thinks hes smart and ready to let the 6th best QB walk
Kirk wants to leave.
If he is the 6th best QB in the league, he is the ONLY one of them demanding fully guaranteed contracts.
So? He’s not stupid. That’s a terrible thing? He IS leaving though. So we’ll see if his replacement can play as well as he has. I certainly hope that is the case. Hasn’t worked out well at all for the Redskins.
Where did you get that picture? Marine don’t wear baby blue t-shirts!
You know, if we made every day July 31, 2023, we are basically immortal!
Still 31 July
If Risner is signed and beats out Ezra because he’s a LG not a RG then with the addition of Oliver really shoring up our pass protection we could see a really good pocket for Cousins and that to me spells trouble for the league.
Last year Cousins was hit 131 more times than any other QB in the league and was by far the poorest protected. Brady, Goff, Mahomes, Carr, and Lawrence were the best protected QB’s in the league last year in that order.
The Vikings need to figure this out. They have one of the best QB’s in the league, and for the last five years they’ve allowed him to get pummeled behind a bad line. Brady was the least mobile QB in the league, and threw 733 passes (most in the league), yet he was the least hit, sacked, knocked down, and pressured QB in the league.
Don’t you think if we can run the ball better, defense are going to have to give that more respect which will help with pass protection. Hope so anyway.
Absolutely… but when you run three verticals into shell coverage, it’s gonna take some time for somebody to get open.
Agree. If we can make DT’s respect our run game, maybe we can slow them down some and give our guards a little edge.
And as you point out deeper routes take time.
It’s certainly a combination that Oliver brings…he not only run blocks well but as I pointed out below with his pass protection skills basically being another tackle level blocker on the edge if they can get the running game cooking and force defense to push safeties up to stop the run then play action have Oliver staying in to pass protect with the route running abilities of JJ, Addison and Hock…NFL defenses….
Yes. Pound the rock. Force 7/8 into the box and make them pay.
I think the mid-zone running style will help the interior line later in games. The wide-zone allows the nose tackle to just rush straight up the middle knowing that 9 out 10 times the run is going outside.
Yup. And if the NT is particularly talented like Jordan Davis they can also get tackle to tackle in a hurry, which buries angles and running lanes.
Source?
I gave you the authoritative data source on this already. Go look it up yourself.
You did not. But okay sassy pants.
Im seeing he was knocked down (hit) 84 times in total. Soooo not sure where your pulling this 131 TIMES MORE from? He was sacked the same amount as Geno (46). For the record Herbert was hit 71 times and sacked 38. Daniel Jones was sacked 44 times.
Here’s a source. Unfortunately, it shows NLNVF isn’t a good data analyst.
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2022/advanced.htm
What? No he wasn’t. He wasn’t even hit that many times in total…he was hit 88 times in 2022. Next closest was Russell Wilson at 74, which is a difference of 14, not 131.
As far as your “best protected” list, those 5 guys had the least amount of sacks but not QB hits. In fact, none of them were even in the Top 5 in terms of least hit.
That said, are we talking hits or sacks? Because they’re different. And if you’re using sacks to comment on “best protected”, well then Cousins was 8th in the league in terms of sacks against him. Not great but not near the same picture you tried to paint.
And as far as Tom Brady, it’s true he was the least sacked. But he tied for 10th in MOST hit QB in 2022, not least, although he did tie for 5th in terms of fewest pressures.
You’re all over the place, man.
Welcome to arguing with the pro cousins robot that is NLVF. Its maddening. He posts BS about Cousins all the time then you call him on it and he tells you you’re wrong then makes a post with arbitrary stats to refute you. He’s the definition of strawman argument. Cousins is his God and he will be damned if he doesnt worship him, and you should too.
The data is the combined hit, knocked down, sacked, and pressured rates. Those combined each year he has been a Viking have him as the most “hit” QB in the league over the last 5 years, and 131 more times than anyone else in the league last year.
So you’re combining a bunch of stats to make a giant made up stat? Again, link us where you got these numbers so we can verify your claim. He’s the most hit QB by your manipulated showing of the number but not by the raw data dude lol. You are unbelievable lmao. Quit your whining about Cousins being hit the most. Its a fallacy and and a lame one at that.
You truly have no clue what you’re talking about.
First, the term “hit” in the NFL has a specific meaning…it’s not a combined number.
Second, the term “pressure rate” also has a specific meaning based on a %, not an absolute number. Cousin’s pressure rate was 23.2% in 2022, tied for 10th highest in the league.
Third, by definition, a QB can’t be “knocked down” without being hit or sacked…those literally are the only 2 things that can happen to knock a QB down. The Broncos gave up the most combined QB hits and sacks last season at 137, the Vikings were 2nd with 135.
Fourth, the Broncos also gave up the most total pressures, at 181 followed by the Vikings with 171.
Do the f’in math man…no where in this 2022 pressure data, to include all of the above metrics, is there anything that shows the Vikings gave up 131 more of any damn thing. And if you’d stop to think about what that mean, you’re realize how dumb it is to even think that. That would require an additional almost 8 NVF fake pressure stats PER GAME to make any sense, based on an 18 game season. If that were true, Cousins would likely be dead.
My recommendation: Stop talking and start thinking.
BOOM! Done. What a post. Mods sticky this to the top of the page please. Can I buy you a beer man?
Funny thing is, I’m not a Cousins hater or crusader…I’m somewhere in the middle. Was he abused last season? Absolutely. Do I have great respect for how he took that abuse? Absolutely.
But people making shit up or posting about some comment they heard somewhere that they think they understood and then misuse/misquote it drives me nuts. Especially when it’s as f*cking as obvious as this. 131 more whatever…lmao, how stupid.
That said, when that person then doubles down on their position…wtf? How much more stupid can you be?
The reality is that there is some pressure-related stat out there over the past 3 or 5 seasons that I think he’s actually thinking about. But he keeps hanging onto his very specific “last year” narrative, which is completely bogus and very easy to confirm.
I posted this above but for those interested…here’s the pressure stats from last season according to PFR:
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2022/advanced.htm
They’re under the Pressure tab in the Advanced Passing section. They’re team stats, not individual. But they’re close enough given Cousins’ share of snap count. That said, I just looked at Mullins numbers and he accounted for 4 of the 88 hits I mentioned above. So, Cousins was actually hit 84 times last season.
Agreed! Im labeled a hater because I dont think he’s the answer and im done with him as our QB. I agreed, he’s been hit a lot and our O line rarely did him favors during his time here but he’s never been the most pressured/hit QB in the league, during any season with us here. I found the same 84 stat as you did on another website. Dudes a good guy, has stayed healthy and plays well against sub par competition and his a good regular season QB but he’s not getting you to a bowl.
Crusaders straight up exaggerate what Cousins goes through, pull excuses out of their ass the pout when you call them on it. NLVF is one of those.
*17 game season…sometimes I type too fast when responding to idiocy.
Also…
*means, you’d
And they are thinking about signing Risner?????
Risner gave up 3 sacks and 2 penalties in 2022 compared to Cleveland and Ingram with 9.5/8 and 9/3, respectively.
Doesn’t matter.
3 and out.
4th and 8.
When the game and season were on the line.
Won’t spell shit, Bradbury still sucks and Ingram is even worse, both are worse than Cleveland who also sucks.
No Cleveland was worse of the 3 by a fair measure. You’d be surprised what one good guard can do to limit the gaps DT’s can attack. If it’s down to the center and RG they can much easier shift help middle right and give Kirk the time he needs. SB baby!
You shouldn’t drink so early in the morning, Cleveland sucks but isn’t the worst, in fact he’s the best out of Bradbury, Ingram or Risner, here’s there grades
Cleve – 73
Turdbury – 70
Risner – 61
Ingram – 57
Ingram led the entire NFL with 11 sacks given up. He’s a piece of shit on and off the field.
Pfffffffff grades blow…how about HITS which Cleveland allowed 2 more than Ingram. They both suck. Risner’s low grade is from run blocking effort, he only allowed 6 qb hits. Better.
Ok then I support Risner taking over for the child rapist
Risner plays LG which is where I’d prefer to put him and hopefully shore up that entire side. Every contending team we’ve ever had had a solid to elite LG. Child rapist gets another year.
