Sometimes my job sucks, but a lot of times it is awesome. I was asked to biopsy a massive hypervascular mass involving a kidney. Biopsy of a kidney is already high risk secondary to risk of bleeding and this mass had the left renal vein enlarged to the point it was as big as the IVC. He also has a coagulopathy. It takes many many years of education but I surmised preprocedurally that this big hypervascular mass just might bleed. Let the pt and fam know if it bled (haha “if”) he’d be spending the night in the horse pistol.
Got my coax needle snuggled up to it, fired the biopsy gun, and a stream of blood the size of the 15 gauge needle comes spurting out. Well go figure. Cut up a bunch of little torpedoes of Surgifoam gelatin sponge and started shoving them in the coax needle. As in the House of God, all bleeding stops eventually.
The beauty of laying a plan out in advance is everyone is happy, me as well as I just call the hospitalist and say can you babysit pt for me, wash my hands figuratively of the case, and go on with my day.

Nix was considered #4 after the season then JJ passed him bye, now Penix has and last night I heard that Rattler might as well.
It is not as if a lot of games have been played lately.

The big knock on JJ after the season was his lower numbers than the other QBs.
So because Mich was a complete team, with a running game and great Def he is a worse QB?
What he was asked to do he did very well he was just asked to do less, or do it less often.
The Knock on Penix was he didn’t have a ‘middle game’ and in fact Mich covered deep and dared him to beat them underneath, he couldn’t.
All too complicated to me, I will leave it to KOC to identify ‘the guy’ and to KAM to get him if possible.
Heard Nix was pretty good too. Makes me think (other than your crybaby guy) KOC can get good QB play out of ANY of the rest. And not sure there is really all that much of a difference – just milking mice.

According to sources, the Vikings flew out their whole staff for a private workout with Michael Penix Jr. in Seattle, including HC Kevin O’Connell and GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah.
He seems to be racing up the draft charts since his Pro Day.
As long as KAM doesn’t vastly overpay for a QB I am good.

Very interesting… We keep getting great steals historically with WRs that were undervalued whether that was behavior shit (Moss), small school (Thielen), Eagles are dumb (JJ), was a crack head before and also the Eagles are dumb (Carter), Addison was the last of 4 receivers taken in a row and looking to be the best… We’re due for a story like that with a QB right?
don’t really know much about these college QB’s. But watched this guy on some clips recently and he slings it really well.
Haven’t looked at him yet. If the Vikings are sending a large contingent to see him workout, I guess that means they’ve looked at his film, and he’s worth interviewing.
One other thing I like, he seemed to be willing to stand in the pocket (not take off) and let the play develop. Had good patience for a young QB.
‘Young QB’ is relative as he will be 24 May 8th.
I am fine with him. Probably the best arm currently for the QBs in the draft. I understand the injury concerns, but he has been relatively healthy the last two season.
I still think they will move up to get “The Guy they really want” if that is an option.
Penix is 11 or 23 material imo. Probably 23.
It’s a smoke screen. They are signaling to Arizona and the Chargers that they are really interested in Penix…And everyone knows the Vikes could get him at 11 or maybe at 23.
They are doing this to drive down the asking price for the 4th or 5th.

I really don’t know that much about him, but I watched one game of his and he was not impressive. Maybe he was just having an off day, which wouldn’t be cool because it was a bowl game and maybe he just can’t handle the pressure.

I got a collections agency piece of mail. It was for almost $500 of my ex-wife’s medical expenses. I told them the bill is in her name, and I have in the divorce decree that she is responsible for all her medical bills. They said since the service was done while still married I’m still liable. So if she doesn’t pay it I have to then take to small claims court… crazy. Hope she pays! lol
Laws in different states are different.
First, might check your credit report and see if the charge (bill) is even on it. If not, forget it.
Second, did you sign for her medical expenses. If not, again forget it. and even if you did, probably not much is going to happen over a 500 bill.
So, at this point, just be patient and it will probably go away.
Interesting, I called the collections place. They said in SD the rule was if the charge was done for something while we were married we are both liable. Not paying scares the shit out of me. I have like an 820 credit that I am quite proud of haha.
I’d still be patience. Check your credit bureau once in a while, and if it does show up, call the credit bureau and put the “charge in dispute.”
Given the small amount of money, doubt anyone is going to want to go through the dispute process – just not worth it.

Going through a divorce and having a 820 is impressive.
It never dinged me. the Bureau of Indian Affairs however fucked me twice and dropped my credit 150 points… TWICE over the same mistake and one of the times they said I was right and had it corrected the credit bureau only raised my score back up 50 points… So then I had to fight that fight too.

For $500 their easiest thing to do it just try to bully you into paying it. Are they going to want to send a person to small claims court? Maybe, but maybe not since they will be wasting most of their “profit”.
(I know kfey loves these moments) – well I got to watch the Oilers lay a massive turd in the start of a 4 game run of the big boys as a tuneup for the rapidly approaching post season last night. Completely destroyed by the Stars, a team I hate for many a reason. Just delightful.

BTW on the return flight from Orlando to MSP KOC was sitting in the row behind us with his daughter. His wife and other three kids were somewhere further back in the plane. He kept the daughter entertained while we sat on the taxiway in a ground stop for two hours.
I was texting Rob and Brad, we were joking about me giving him draft tips or overhearing his plans for the draft.
I would have been tempted to ask him about the teams plans or to give him advice about focusing on Defense and Trenches in the draft.
A classic moment for many of us, I saw him up at the counter asking a question and said to my wife, “That’s the HC of the Vikings, he must have been here for a family vacation at the theme parks. Would you take a pic of us if I go up and ask him?” Answer – no that would be weird.

It is. Plus my wife in not one of those that just show up and teach and then rush out the door. She seems like she is always staying late for something. Last night she stayed late to help a student get caught up. She is the robotics advisor and so the next three Wednesdays she will be staying late to have a robotics session with the girl scouts so they can get their badges. I just wouldn’t be a good teacher, because I don’t think I could care that much, plus I would murder a kid and be in prison.
For all three of you – VP, NDR and SCVF. Thank your wives for being wonderful teachers. God knows we need a lot more like your three wives.

Teachers that care, and aren’t just going through the motions, put a lot of time in and are underpaid.
Teachers that don’t care, and are primarily in the profession for “summers off” are overpaid.
And the teachers that care don’t really get “summers off”. My wife teaches summer school in June and in August often ends up at school for curriculum study, etc.
And if it sounds like I’m bragging on her, I am. I am the reacher in this relationship and she is the settler.

KFey may just be the lead singing for a new band. I met the current guitarist last fall at a buddies when we were watching the Vikings. They had a falling out with another guitarist and the lead singing so I reached out and I said fuck yeah, Ill give it a try. Met the rest of the members at the bar last night after work and got to know them, talk shop and music, was a great time. We gave each other home work to listen to songs and try and play and sing, he gave me this because he wanted to know if I could hit the high holds at the end. After a few listens, I did. Gonna be fun.

I dont understand everyone’s obsession with the eclipse, they happen all the time, just not over land and even the ones that happen to sweep across the US happen and a fairly regular basis. I remember the one in 2018? 2019? That was cool to see but I didnt need to drive 3000 miles and book a hotel room for a week to watch a 5 minute eclipse. People are dumb.
Last one was in 2017. TBH seeing a total eclipse is on my bucket list. It would have been a pretty straightforward drive down to Casper to see the 2017 one but I was scheduled to work and no one would trade. Next one visible in the US is 2044 I believe – I’ll be in my 70’s so I will plan to check that one out.
This dumb fan will likely drive 600 miles and book an uber expensive hotel room to see the Vikings SB parade should it happen. So there is that.

It was cool looking but the best part was the very abrupt temperature drop (since it was summer) and all the birds stopped chirping, it felt a little spooky, made you feel small (which we all are). Vikings SB parade would be a must
I see Delta at least has some flight that tracks the eclipse. Not sure how it works but I assume the plane flies more or less a racetrack pattern so all the passengers can see it. One way to guarantee your view won’t be obscured by overcast.
Lincoln was in the path of totality in 2017. Wife and I watched from the rooftop of her office building at the time. Was pretty cool. Cool part was all the crickets chirping once it got dark….
