- Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something feel free to ask. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here. Just be civil and cool to one another.

Since it’s still Wednesday, here you go Freezy……
After being down 8-0 and hitless after 5 innings the Twinkies managed to come back and only lose 9-5.
I moral victory of sorts I guess.
That Yankees lineup is other worldly.
I’m here. Let the party start!
This site still active? Dead.
It has gone quiet for sure.
Your first post of the day?
Maybe if you gave us all some love once in awhile.
“There are those that do and those that criticize’.
It has always been that way.
Ok, i suppose.
Remember about 20 years ago when hypocrisies were more simplistic like when Clinton introduced the concept of paid volunteers?
There’s no hypocrisy. The Trump case is simply making sure that nobody is above the law and letting the legal process play out to protect democracy. Simple.
I’m not sure who, if anyone here is a professional wrestling fan or was in the past. But I have been watching Dark Side of the Ring episodes on Vice. The one I watched last night was about Jake the Snakes dad, and the rest of the family.
Was not aware that Rockin Robin and Jake the Snake were brother and sister. Also did not know that their dad and step mom were pedophiles. Sad story of how they grew up and the issues they have overcome.
Saw a documentary on the Von Erich family.
Must have been tons of pressure on them to cause all of the drama it did.
Successful does not equal Happy in many cases.

Are you gay? Not that there is anything wrong with that.
He’s just trying too hard to hide how much he actually enjoys it. He wants people to quit posting it so his productivity at work on Wednesdays stops dropping so much.
If it weren’t for this GIF Freezy would be able to change a battery in his wife’s van in 1 1/2 – 2 days
I think he is.
He loved the chip & dales gif I posted yesterday.
He likes em big, and round.
Pelissero saying Darnold doing awesome, may not see JJ all year. I expect to see Darnold early on and don’t want JJ rushed, but not looking forward to watching Darnold to be honest. Hopefully just normal silly season hype.
Everyone looks great in OTAs
That’s what I was thinking too.
I am very much looking forward to Darnold and what KOC can get out of him.
Me too.
Im skeptical, but still hopeful.
I honestly think the Floor is Mullins level of QBing. 300 ish yards a game give or tak 25, 2 TDs and a pick or 2. Thats the floor.
If he plays, he’ll be this year’s Baker Mayfield and net the Vikings a nice comp pick then JJ will step in, NFCCG in 2025, SB 2026.
I’ll try to look at it that way.
Unless they just say, nope he’s not playing, I still think JJ ends up playing sooner than later. That would mean playoffs this year, SB next or 2026.
I’ll have what he’s having.
Right now, I’m happy to live in hope land. We’ll see how the first couple of regular season games go.
Oh, and four more wins are all I need. Oilers in six!
All aboard!!!

Well never mind. The first one had it too. I didn’t mean that part of it. It’s kinda funny but was not intended.
Looking forward to that. I do think Darnold is a better back up than the Vikings have had for quite a while.
As you should!
SPEAK IT INTO EXISTANCE!
Trying.
This is the first time in years, that I’ve had this much hope. I expect nothing in 2024, but I’m actually excited about the next 2 to 3 years.
Same.
I have not been this fired up since 2014.
Career wise they’re statistically the same player basically. I think Darnold is more athletic and has better mobility from what I’ve seen between the 2.
Darnold has arm talent, KOC in his ear and the most talent around him that he’s ever had. That’s enough for me to be cautiously optimistic.
Hell yeah! Cheers
This is the way!
I’m not, he’s suckled his entire career
oh, i just remembered a great california story from my vacation…
my nephew graduated HS and had his grad party while we were out there (a reason the whole trip came about in the first place)
my sister’s place wasn’t big enough to hold the party, so some friends of theirs had it at their house (very generous of them). still pretty small back yard. but the grass was lucious and GREEN.
i was talking to the guy (home owner where the party was) and he said his neighbors kept narcing on him to the police/city for watering his front lawn when he wasn’t supposed to be (thanks commiefornia), so he literally dug up his whole front yard, and transfered the grass into his back yard (Which was previously mulch and plants) and now waters as much as he wants.
LOL.
Im surprised CA doesn’t meter the water and have an automatic shut off after you reach so many gallons used.
i was surprised as well.
They meter the water and bills have been passed about how much each house/parcel can use.
It is up to the water district to supervise the process and they will be fined if they don’t do enough to stem the usage.
Not sure it has gone into effect yet, I plan to be gone when it does.
How could you leave that utopia?
Quickly seems best before the swirling down the drain sucks me down with the all of the crap.
I used to live in CA. Lots of lush, green grass in front yards where we lived because of regular watering (including our lawn). We lived in an established neighborhood though, and there was no narcing.
Spent a good part of the morning arguing with the IRS over 850 dollars that my company owed in taxes…850 dollars…which we had paid per their instructions but it ended up in the wrong IRS bucket – so according to them we still owe them 850 dollars. They are planning on seizing our property. Also since the 850 we paid ended up in the wrong bucket they just mailed us a refund check for 850 dollars.
You just can’t make this shit up….what a cluster…
Yes, lets go ahead and make this fine institution much much bigger.
I haven’t got my state tax refund yet…I’m sure they’ll penalize themselves for taking so long.
Wouldn’t that be nice???
I am surprised a smart Gouger like you gets a refund. Why let the government hold your money would you could be investing it?
It’s really hard to be precise about what is going to happen come tax time. My compensation fluctuates by my productivity and # of pay periods per quarter such that my quarterly reconciliations can differ by an order of magnitude. Plus I have investments in a private equity firm and I never know if I’m going to have gains or losses. I do know I don’t want to be very much underpaying taxes or I gets the hose (and penalty).
Correct. For people who are self employed, or have other types of income not subject to withholding, estimating how much to pay is tough for fluctuating income.
If you estimate too low, penalties kick in.
If the IRS has the numbers right, but in the wrong spots, I usually recommend to my clients don’t waste time arguing.
If they hire me to deal with it, I say, if it’s less than a $500 issue, just bend over and pay the IRS. It’s not worth the time or effort in my book.
We have done that before…paid like 450 dollars we absolutely knew we didn’t owe just to shut them up…This 850 we know we owe and tried to pay…again, based on their instructions…..
😂
It’s government at its finest.
State of DE government is worse.
They auto generate tax notices that aren’t even tied to the agency/office that collects it. So everybody receives the “pay it immediately or else” letter. Then when you call, they say don’t worry about it.
I received a notice of a fine because I ‘didn’t file my taxes’ during the pandemic.
I called and after a few hours actually reached a real person. I explained that I had filed and when. She told me ‘oh, then it must be in the ‘unopened returns’ that are backlogged due to Covid.
I told her ‘Wrong, my return was opened’ she said it is marked as unopened. I asked ‘Then how did you get the check out of it and cash it??’. She tried to say that taking out the check doesn’t require opening it’. I called her a liar for the government, the discussion went downhill from there.
Bottom line was they opened the envelopes, took out the checks, didn’t process the returns, and called the returns ‘unopened’ since that sounded better since it was ‘Covids’ fault and not theirs.
It is truly a trash organization.
Which is why they need to be armed because ‘the masses’ might fight back against their BS.
They should be on the list for government organizations to be disbanded immediately along with the Department of Indoctrination, I mean Education.
Yes, the department of Indoctrination needs to be terminated for sure.
Starliner finally lifts off.
Ive always been a huge fan of space travel.
@even though the moon landings were all fake@
BoeingSpace. Hope they do a better job with rockets than they do on their planes…
Correct.
There have been some suicides of whistleblowers lately.
Correct for certain definitions of ‘suicides’.
These were simply the Clinton variety.
Shooting yourself in the back of the head at an upward angle could be challenging.
Correct. Note I didn’t say they committed suicides, just that suicides occurred.
I asked this last year…. and then we saw him for a minute until he got hurt… What about Jaren Hall? I didn’t think he looked bad for a rookie(to me he looked better than any other QB after Kirk went out)
He looked good prior to being hurt but post concussion he shat the bed pretty bad.
Not sure where where he is now I guess we will have preseason to decided.
I am guessing they try to stash him on the PS but doubt it works.
to be fair, he looked pedestrian prior to being hurt, he made maybe 1 throw past the line of scrimmage and it was a busted coverage like 50 yard catch and run…
he is not good. never was.
Nate Stanley and Kellen Mond never got a fair chance!
He didn’t look ‘Good’ but like a typical rookie QB.
Survived the end of the game after KC was injured. Had a decent 1st Qtr in the start the next game until concussed. When he came back he shat the bed and had to be pulled.
Not sure why the difference between the two starts but if the 2nd game is ‘who he is’ then we really don’t need to see any more of him.
Well, I saw first hand how bad he was on NYE night against the Pukers.
My guess is he never takes another snap in a regular season game as a Viking.
He doesn’t have the arm strength to be a “good” NFL QB. Might eek out a living as a backup if he is fortunate.
I stand corrected…his velo is equal to or greater than Jordan Love’s….so good enough.
He was horrible in his setting start, deer in headlights
Forecast is 105 degrees today.
Now that the dump has reopened I need to run to the storage shed, load up the pickup and get to the dump before it gets too bad.
Wish me luck.
Good luck, stay cool.
Thanks.
Made it back so ‘so far so good’.
but it’s a dry heat
Yes.
And after being stationed in Central Texas and Alabama for years I appreciate the difference.
Kind of shocking that on a Hump Day that there is no Soda Slut gifs posted yet.
Personally I prefer this one anyway.
I thought it was the 6th.
I blame JR
A 6th or THE 6th?
Pedophile.
True for certain definitions of ‘pedophile’.
If you expand it enough to someone who enjoys seeing healthy, happy kids then I plead guilty.
I am with you SoCal, and I enjoy that Wednesday clip as well…
How about an old man who enjoys sniffing the hair of young girls? Is that person a Pedophile??
No, because that is (d)ifferent.
I don’t think enjoying a sent by its self is a bad thing. Stalking and grabbing girls to smell them is totally different.
Like they taught me in catechism, thoughts are not bad by themselves it is what you do because you have those thoughts that could be bad.
What about showering with your teenage daughter?
Ummm as a father? Almost certainly no.
If you were at the beach or pool and you had to rinse off? Jumping into a open shower when you were both suited would be fine. Exceptions like that are ok.
RIP Lisa Loring…
My employer just gave me a new laptop…I hit refresh to repaginate the run on nesting problem, usually takes a good 15 sec or so to refresh…refresh happened so fast I thought I hadn’t hit the button.
Once I get settled in I will have to upgrade my computer. The Apple techs have called this one ‘Vintage’ and ‘Classic’. I am thinking 10 years is ‘Senior Citizen’ for a computer so we manage ok together for the most part.
It will be interesting if nothing else.
We were still running a Windows 98 machine at work until like 2 or 3 years ago. We still have it and could probably resurrect it if we wanted, but there’s not much sense to it.
The Teacher has her last two computers in storage and wants to wipe them before recycling them. That has been the plan for close to 15 years now.
I hear bleach bit works.
Posting ‘The Bitch’ on Hump Day?? Gag!!
Don’t know that those computers will even boot up after sitting for so long. Her problem though so she just might take a hammer to them after getting sufficiently frustrated with them.
My old slave monitor had VGA inputs only. The IT guys were talking about using an adapter for it, then the boss said give MT a new monitor. This one is almost as big as my rad monitors, but nowhere near the resolution (still at least 4x better resolution than the old one).
So this means Biden has all of your data?
Biden: “I have never seen so much Hentai…no joke. That gouger. Pork and Beans when the cannibals ate my airplane.”
Better processor, more ram, and probably an M.2 SSD as opposed to an old Mechanical HDD = SPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED
I thought this was an interesting point in regards to the doomers on paying Jett’s.
But I was told a player that only touches the ball 6 – 7 times a game doesnt have that much impact on the offense.
Well, I’ve also been told a QB isn’t responsible for wins, unless the team loses games without said QB, which would have led to more wins if said QB wasn’t hurt.
This is hardly an issue with me and I do believe JJ is the best and worth all he gets. But believe in fairness the ‘doomers’ issues might be a little broader.
This story from Sieffert, was written directly to address the claim that a receiver shouldn’t be signed to this type of contract.
The doomers would explain this better than me as I am certainly not a GM type.
But I would think it might go like this – A Ferarri is a great sports car and worth the money. But the question is can I get by with a Porsche. And then if I don’t even have reliable family transportation, should I even be thinking about a sports car – football terms, lousy IOL and IDL, undersize LB’s and a questionable secondary.
But let the experts take a shot at it and I certainly think JJ is great and deserves to be paid.
The difference is there is disposable income available that needs to be spent and there aren’t a bunch of Chevy’s and Fords available on the lines right now anyway. In NASCAR terms, we have one of the best drivers in the sport. The crew chief is new and an unknown, but how better to help that young crew chief become what we hope he can become than to have the best driver out there? Let them grow together and become the next coming of Jimmy Johnson and Chad Knaus.
Fair enough – let the doomers respond.
I posed the question… does it make sense to pay someone $35M a year who touches the ball less than 7 times a game. I guess folks think that’s me condemning JJ… I was just starting the conversation however. Of course folks attacked Cousins in their responses to me. Because KDS is strong with some folks here.
i’m new to this site, so please be patient with me…
but who here is complaining about re-signing jjets at that price?
Well, I made a comment on it yesterday saying we were now doomed., no money to sign other players…But I was clearly being sarcastic and poking fun of the Anti-Cousins crowd.
yes i remember that comment and definitely read it in sarcasm font for sure…
you sarcastic son of a gun
‘i’m new to this site, so please be patient with me…’
Another deception.
frozen par for the chilly course ff….
Looks like golfing ND style. I have played several rounds with snow banks on the course…but not like that course, better have a lot of carry, not going to get much roll.
Don’t they use and orange golf balls when playing Snow Golf?
I hope that he just dressed like that for the gif as it looks like it is windy and still snowing.
He’s just tough. Maybe Bud Grant’s grandkid.
@How cold could it be, the sun is shining and everyone is in short sleeves.@
I remember I had to leave for work half way thru the 4th quarter of that game. The Teacher texted updates to me and the ending was still tragic, made me glad I didn’t watch it in real time.
I can tell you exactly where I was standing and what I was saying during that kick. I was as far away from my TV as I could get and still see it and muttering, “please don’t do this to me Blair, please don’t do this Blair.”
A kick in the nads no doubt.
At least the nads were frozen by that point so hopefully a bit numb.
i also remember exactly what i did before and after the kick..
Some of the comments have been made sarcastically, some not (Jets doesn’t really matter because he only touches the ball 6 times a game), the rest I think are just Viking/Minnesota sports PTSD from getting burned too many times after giving players big contracts.
Well, one person in particular, has been dissing this idea for months.
But the article addresses the main concern of them. That’s why it was written.
I am fine with the contract as it is not my money.
We are in a good place cap wise so that helps.
Wilfs plunked down $89M at signing so they must have considered it worth it after considering all of the related financial issues.
They are estimated to be worth $5B as a family so not like they will go hungry due to it.
I’m fine with one big contract.
If he continues with an HOF trajectory, I will have to be fine with another I guess.
I firmly believe that the young adult consumers of today are vastly different than the young adult consumers of yesteryear.
Yea – in the depression they ahad no choice, Today we have a lot of Moma’s boys who live in the basement and don’t do much of anything.
I agree.
But I have two kids with jobs who can’t even find a place to rent, let alone afford a house.
Bidenville is real.
Yeah, I make more than the average person and if we hadn’t bought our house when we did, I don’t know how I could afford to buy a house right now. No idea how people making 20 bucks an hour with kids are even keeping it together.
When you look at the median home price in Billings of $455K, $192/sq ft, might be able to swing that setting forms for Yellowstone Basin Construction. A real bargain compared to Bozeman or Missoula!
Biden’s economics certainly suck. but fifty years ago young people couldn’t buy a house either. You had to work your tail off, save enough for down payment, then start really small, and worl your way up.
The cost of a home compared to the rise in income over the last 50 years is insane. Housing prices (both rent and purchase) have went up way more than wages. For the same percentage of the median wage you can buy a fraction of the house you could 30-50 years ago.
True.
When I got out of Army, going no where, worked construction M-F, roofed houses on Saturday, and built stone walls on Sunday. Also went to night school to get my MBA. That’s what I had to do to get by and save enough for a house. Everybody seemed to work several jobs.
Harder today – guess so. but usually ‘hard’ worl overcomes alot.
Anyone could still do what you did if they had the work ethic…that is what we are missing.
I don’t know. Give me my work situation now 5 years ago and I’d be living out of town on acreage. Now, our old house in town is as much as I can afford. Our 2000 sgft house with neighbors 3 feet away is damn near the same price as properties I looked at 5-6 years ago with 100 acres and a home 30-40 years newer.
And none of that takes into account that the average interest rate on a 30 year mortgage has more than doubled, further increasing the cost to buy a home.
7% is high. Check the mid 70’s out – like 18%.
We paid 8% in 2002, but the house was only $90,000. Today that house is over $200k
And in the fifties rate was like 8 and the house was 17K.
Yep. But my dad made 13,000 a year and bought the house for $17,000.
In todays world, that means my salary would be $350k to buy a $400k.
Its not even close to salary-house cost from 50 years ago.
And my mom stayed home with 5 kids and didn’t work.
$13K/yr in 1970 was a damn good wage.
It was. He was an electrical engineer.
There’s a case of wage growth lagging…average wage of an EE in the US is only $100,000 today.
Exactly.
But I think that’s across all careers.
We were a one income family of 7.
You now need two incomes to keep pace, and I believe we are at a point where we cross the point of no return. Two incomes won’t cut it.
Sounds like you’re advocating three incomes. Do you think a MFF or MMF household would be more harmonious?
Id kill to make six figures.
Then you should make it so. I did.
If you’re not afraid of manual labor, we’re always hiring. You won’t start there, but if you aren’t a dumdum there is opportunity to get there.
This ^
Yeah, eventually the interest rates will even out. If you can afford it now, then you can just plan on refinancing in a few years, but with the significant increase in home price combined with the additional couple hundred bucks a month due to the increased interest rate, it’s just not feasible to purchase a first home for the average American. Especially if you consider the fact that everything else in your life has increased in price by about 30% in the last 3 1/2 years.
Yep.
Its really not even comparable to equate todays home prices to decades ago.
Salaries haven’t even come close to that increased cost.
Its not the interest rate its the cost of the home itself thats sky rocketed. Cost of materials, labor, etc. is off the charts compared to the 70s. And annual home income has not grown to match those rising costs. Interest rate its not the problem.
Don’t forget the average new home in 2024 has a lot more features and square footage than the average new home in 1970. Typical 3 bedroom in 1970 had a single bathroom with a tub/shower combo. Now you have a bathroom for every bedroom.
My stepkids grandparents on their dad’s side built a home in 1960 (granddad was a contractor) with two bedrooms and one bathroom. Five kids under that roof all a year apart in age. Probably significantly smaller than your place, based on what I see peeking out of your closet.
Housing prices have doubled here in 5 years, with nowhere near that increase in pay.
Yep. We bought our house 7 years ago and it has went from 185k to 400k. Ridiculous. Our house isn’t bad, but there is no way in a sane world a 2000k sqft house built in the 50s with no land is worth 400k.
I would argue that the ratio is not insane.
My parents (working full time military and educated health care professional) bought their first home for $20K in 1974, that was about 4x their annual income. Mortgage interest rate was a little over 10%. Home mortgage interest is not tax deductible in Canada, BTW.
The Case Schiller home price to median income index typically runs about 5, ie the average home costs about five times annual income. Got significantly higher during the bubble of 2006 and is even higher now (~7), but I bet it will correct back to about 5x. Interest rates being so low didn’t help things…nor did the pandemic.
Do they happen to be looking for rentals in Wilmington? (I know real estate is sky high there)
We are in southern DE, so not the Wilmington area. Problem in Delaware is people from NY, NJ, PA and MD are fleeing to Delaware driving up the cost of housing. A piece of crap home in a crappy area is $225,000 minimum where I’m at.
And the same group is destroying home prices in Fl.
Ditto here. Don’t worry, I’m sure the government will step in like they did with college a few decades ago and lower the price. No way the government gets involved and makes it worse.
“I am from the government and I am here to help’.
It’s happening everywhere.
NYC is housing illegals in hotels, and the government is paying the hotel.
You can’t find a hotel room for under $350 a night. I’m thankful my daughter has a place where we can stay, otherwise we couldn’t afford to visit her.
This is Bidenville.
No, no, no. It was worse when Sniffer took office and he has actually made it better. If you can’t see that, then you are just a MAGA radical.
I’m guilty. I’m a domestic terrorist. apparently.
Turner makes more of an impact to start the year.
JJ has a bigger impact by the end of the year.
Turner makes a bigger impact this year, JJ for the rest of his career.
Probably
QOTD- Obviously JJ, he just got Paid!!! Oh, you mean that other JJ… probably Turner will see the field more so I’ll go with that.
Its a day late but should be recognized anyway.
I have to admit, I have zero memory about this event.
Eh guy was still mentaly ill and shouldn’t be celebrated. Getting fucked over by the city or not.
That is one amazing story. That he was able to build that thing unmolested for years is a story in itself. Much like that nutjob Gabriel Wortman openly created an exact duplicate of an RCMP patrol car (“the RCMP gave me permission”) and used it to go on the mass killing spree in Nova Scotia. Whereas by pure dumb luck Heemeyer didn’t kill anyone.
as the resident skolo historian, the abe lincoln quote up top is one of my favorite quotes of his.
Agreed, that is his best quote.
By far my favorite thread image
June 6th – great day in our history. God Bless all the WWll guys and the home folks that supported them.
Tomorrow?
80th Anniversary of D-Day.
God Bless the greatest generation.
Tomorrow indeed – I’m pleading alcholism and BDS (Biden derangement syndrome).
Went to a bourbon tasting last night and drank to much – still feeling it.
Second, just saw that POS Biden going to France to thank all the veterans and I’m not going to let that draft dodging prick one up me.
So, I plead lack of mental capacity for getting my days wrong. But hell, we should thank our veterans everyday.
FJB
Pro tip….Bourbon is a sipping drink….not a gulping drink.
If I were to join the Bow bandwagon, then the answer has to be JJ since he will lead us to a Super Bowl. Turner should be good too.
There you go. JJ has already had the biggest impact because he has given fans hope the likes of which we have not seen since Moss and Culpepper.
QotD: It should be Turner. He will have an immediate impact on the D. JJ won’t see the field for a while.
Good morning, SKOL!
FTP!
Happy Hump Day!
QotD:
Turner is a day 1 starter, so I think he will make a bigger impact throughout the entire year. I believe JJ will start making an impact around mid-season.
QOTD:
Turner makes the biggest impact on the field.
JJ makes the biggest impact on our hearts.
GM

SKOL!
Question of they day. Turner.
Happy Hump Day!
Good morning, SKOL, and FTP. N’Keal Harry, being moved to TE is interesting. Pass catching, hard to cover TE for the offense? Sounds good to me. Didn’t see much video yesterday.
The Harry move was very interesting. Looking forward to see what he can do at TE.
Sort of interesting. Seems to me we already move the ball well thru the air. On the ground, that’s another matter.
@Maybe Harry can also play Guard@
Hock out for the first 6 weeks or so and if he works having both in the fields could be lethal. Not sure how his blocking is. He seems to have the size though and was athletic enough to be a first round pick.
That’s true and appreciate the value of a good TE. Believe with KOC and his offensive schemes we will always be good passing the ball. To get to the next level, the run game must improve.
If this guy is a good TE that’s great though.
‘appreciate the value of a good TE’
I will just leave this here as the jokes just write themselves.
Everyone can pick their own favorite but just remember ‘No Kink Shaming’.
i think the whole Harry moving to TE is muchadoabout nothing. maybe an extra body there for us for a while, i’d be shocked if he makes the team at TE (or the team at all)
Stop being such a Debbie Downer
Hitman Harry is moving to TE??? WTF!!!!
He is truly a man of many talents.
