My super toilet is now fully installed.
For those that are wondering, I haven’t used it yet. By the time I got home from work, got the dogs walked, brushed, fed and their ten minute training session, followed by supper, dishes, unpacking some legs for my desk, printing out a return label for the excess legs they sent, and taking a shower I did not have any time left over to play with the toilet.
I did try to sneak up on it to capture a video of the lid opening, bowl illuminating, and the pre-rinse of the bowl, but it kept seeing me peeking around the corner and opening the lid before I could capture it.
In other news, I am transferring my oldest GD’s 529 to her mom’s 529 for her…had to get a medallion signature guarantee. That was a PITA…no one in town or surrounding area is a signature guarantor, I was going to try to squeeze in visiting one in Dickinson but it ended up he was passing through on way to a new bank they opened in Billings so he stopped by my office.

Looking back I can recall my Grandfather poking some fun at my Dad and his generation, and then he in turn at my generation. It does seem that each generation looks at the next with a bit of

So. I look at this young generation and shake my head but then recall some head shaking when I was young.
All my Nieces/Nephews/sons/daughters (counting in-laws) all work and work hard. I have helped each at least once like I have been helped a time or two by family.
We got lawyers/teachers/engineers/machanics/and others. All are in their 20s/early 30s. Hard work still works and is more certain than ‘gaming the system’ or throwing up their hands and blaming others.
I am proud of my family, even the young ones and they all mostly started in Commifornia.
I have three kids late 20/early 30’s. All are married, have bought houses, and all three( and three spouses). work their butts off. We don’t give them a dime nor does anyone else. And I’m proud of hell of them – they are solid contributors to society.
Very much believe in hard work.

Between The Teacher and I we have 9 kids (I count Nieces/Nephews I helped raise after by brother passes as my kids) each has a spouse/significant other, all work and pay their own bills.
The help I referred to was school loans or help with down payment on a house. We don’t agree with all of their choices but can’t fault them for not working hard or making their own ways.
And yours JR, I figure being a ‘good role model’ was a huge part of who they become.
Oh for sure we helped our kids get through school. My wife used to tell our kids, an d generally meant it, the only purpose of being a child is to prepare yourself for adulthood – you’re going to be an adult for a long time.
I told mine that their one job was to grow up to the best ‘them’ the could be. And they got to decide what qualified as the ‘best them’.
Our job was to support them and offer advice (occasional help).
I told them that their turn would come to help others.
I remember an old saying, ‘1st 20 years a child receives from his parents/family, The next 20-40 years they earn/build/raise their own, The final 20-40 they gave back.
I am in the give ‘back portion’ now. Luckily I can ‘useful’ but don’t wish to be’ used’.

While there is some truth to what she says… there are also things you can do. So 20 yeas ago was 2004, I remember that well… I was a Jr or Sr in high school. Almost anyone I knew that had just recently graduated had roommates. Even the younger teachers that were at my high school were rooming with other teachers until they got married. I mean, I graduated from college in 2010 in HUGE debt from a private college and yeah I lived on my own… but it was while living on a reservation and living in federal housing that wasn’t very nice but rent was like 200 bucks a month. Many of these kids won’t do that, they won’t leave the city they are comfortable in. Yeah you live in NYC, LA, etc… you’re going to pay out the ass. You might have to go live in some rural place and get your foundation set and make that sacrifice.

i got so sick of dealing with the commie league commissioner blocking trades, vetoing trades etc…. that i finally quit.
my team made the championship last year but i lost, was hoping to go out on top but alas, like the vikings i was a major disappointment.
Bummer. I’m in a long term league (this is year 14) but the guys are pretty cool, commish laid back. There’s been one vetoed trade and it was legit (father/son duo that tried some shenanigans) I’ve lost the championship in this league like 5 times, have yet to win one. It’s a nice distraction from the long, boring offseason.

You could always do a Yahoo public league. Usually way less drama and a way to pass the time.
I change strategies every year. This year I’m targeting speed and closing pitching early. I’ll get a few core SP’s and look to use the spot-start strategy (eat up a lot of innings that way and if you follow the numbers you can steal quite a few K’s and wins that way too)

i also find the strategy of not going after the major starting pitchers right away is a good one, you will always be able to find starters throughout the week.
the nice thing about the new bases, there are alot of steals out there in players who can contribute to more than just stolen bases.

Redraft every year. We do have pick pick trading – but it’s been a while since anyone has traded a pick.
A few years ago I had a stellar draft and ran away with my division. Knowing I’d make the playoffs I traded away for several high end picks and then thru dumb luck made it to title week and lost. The next year I had 3 first round picks and 2 2nd and 2 3rds – ran away with it again and got beat by the 6th seed who employed the same strategy I did and made it work.
I have Jones on my prospect list.

Derrick Henry, Tony Pollard, Alexander Mattison, Austin Ekeler, Zack Moss, D’Andre Swift, AJ Dillon, Devin Singletary, both Ravens RBs but I think at least one gets a deal there.
Nobody wants to pay running backs big money…we might get one of those fairly cheaply.
Ekeler would fit the system good. I think Aaron Jones is set to be released if they don’t restructure his contract as well. After he took a pay cut last year I don’t know how willing he will be to do that again. Aaron Jones would be fun, if nothing else just to see the Packers fans lose it.

What does everyone think of frozen pizzas?
Other than Heggies, frozen pizzas are low grade dog food.
Never tried it.
I don’t mind most frozen pizzas but I do miss Heggies. They were started by a guy in his garage about 20 miles from where I grew up.

Works in a pinch, has to be thin crust. Basic pepperoni and cheese. Sometimes i add a little pepperoni and sliced olive.
As a bachelor frozen pizzas were a staple.
Jack’s were the most popular because they were cheap. Really cheap. Not good. But cheap. So cheap.
Tombstone’s were a slight upgrade to the Jacks. Not as cheap and seemingly a meatier product – I could smash an entire Jack’s back then and still be hungry. Tombstone’s I could make last two meals, often eating the cold slices for breakfast.
Digiorno’s is trash. Absolute trash. If you’d like to mimic the experience, buy a loaf of day old bread from Jimmy John’s, smash said loaf into a ball, douse it with ketchup and throw in the oven. You’ve officially recreated the Digiorno’s pizza experience. Trash.
My favorite nowadays are the Brew Pub Lottsa Mottsa pizzas. Pricey (although HyVee routinely has them on sale as various holiday weekends get near, March Madness will have them on sale for sure) I find these to be really good. Great thin crust, quality toppings and cheese, and very tasty.
I stay away from the cheap Tony’s/Totinos pizzas after a buddy had a bad experience with one: He bought one, noticed the package was bulky and didn’t think much of it. Went to make it and noticed a large, gray clump right in the middle of the pizza. Looked a little closer and realized that the clump was a pig’s ear. Never again.

They recently increased the price on the two items for $5.99 each to $6.99 each. Also, MN has a ridiculous delivery tax so its actually two for $11 each when you add tip.

The tradition while my son was in college, was to hit Sam’s Club and load up on the 10 packs of Jacks Pizza, and large boxes of eggo waffles, and of course, Hot Pockets.
I would bring “food” to him every other week.
But when you are drunk or hungover, all those things are good.

My litmus test was even better. I didn’t have a car so they would have to meet me at a bus stop if they didn’t live in walking distance for me. Then ride a bus to wherever and back.
That was awesome a couple of times when I said I’ll be on the 139 should be at your closest stop at 4:49 pm and there was no one at the stop. I’d hop off and wait a half hour and if they didn’t show I’d have to assume they bailed and use the transfer to go back to my place.

I’ve started doing frozen pizzas with my stone with the oven being 500 or above. You get such a nice crisp crust, just have to watch it though, cooks fast lol.
I cook cheap thin crusts on the grill, I used to have a stone but it cracked in half for no reason so I just said fuck that

My grandma worked in a school lunch and would buy those for us at the end of each school year.

We had a group of kids, nearly half the school population that attended our school. One day it was pizza day and the youth shelter forgot to tell the school they were all going on a trip and wouldn’t be in school.
My friend and I didn’t even sit down to eat. We got our first serving of food and got in line for seconds, as they were scrambling to get rid of all of the pizza. We ate our first serving standing in line. we did this three times that day.
It was GLORIOUS.

I refuse to eat any frozen pizza with vegetables on it. I worked for Birdseye and we processed the vegetables for most frozen pizza companies. The vegetables are flash frozen in an ammonia solution, when we ran them it smelled like someone pissed all over the work station.

First child, the Mrs and I were trying so hard to avoid processed foods and sugar. Three years later we have two kids, and are hitting the drive thru at McDonalds for happy meals with toys and the standard diet was eggo waffles, chicken tenders, mac n cheese.
Weekends would be homemade pancakes and decent dinners.
If both parents are working its almost impossible to eat right for every meal with multiple kids

Both kids are adults and now eat better than I do.
Yeah, we do those, also lunchables on nights where there’s gymanstics or swim class. On weekends they eat better, usually soup and sandwich for lunch, homecooked balanced meal for dinner, always veggies of some sort with lunch and dinner, sometimes even breakfast
Chicken tenders – Mac n cheese was the go to.
Lunches were uncrustables.
No time to cook.
We did pack them lunches. Lunchables was the lazy mode. Real sandwiches and carrots and a tangerine was the norm.
The granddaughter has been living with us. Chicken tenders and mac-n-cheese keeps her going.
You guys don’t think the insanely processed meats, cheese etc… all aren’t packed full of gross shit terrible for you? lol.
My point is I will not eat it because I can still smell it whenever I see the frozen pizza with vegetables.
Usually, if my wife suggests frozen pizza, I just tell her I will make a real pizza. Typically on the smoker.
I should try that sometime with my smoker, you just buy some crust or you make the dough? What do you smoke it at?
I’m just barging in here as I don’t know JV’s situation but we have a pizza oven insert for our smoker and it ROCKS.
I am looking at getting a table top pizza oven for outside. Right now I use my Pit Boss with a stone.
That insert gets wicked hot. Like it can hit 800 degrees. Freezeface and I play a game to see who can hold their thumb on the stone the longest.

I make my own dough, sometimes my own sauce. When we owned our restaurant, I had to come up with a dough recipe, during covid because the brand we bought went out of business. I also make my own Italian sausage and Canadian bacon.
