Couldn’t sleep last night so I tried finding some new QB videos to watch and see if I could change my mind on the QBs in the draft. Here’s where I sit today.
Williams – Not sure. His attitude still concerns me and I think he could end up anywhere between Kyler Murray and Patrick Mahomes. Likely closer to Murray. Not worth the #1 pick (I don’t think any of them are that good today. Lots of promise yes, but not there today).
Maye – Probably the biggest change in my mind. Some plays he reminds me of Rapelisberger, but wow are the bads bad and he reminds me of an even worse Levis. As of today, I’m off the Maye train.
Daniels – I’m coming around on him. Makes some bad reads and takes unnecessary hits, but maybe not as bad as I initially thought. Still can’t forget the number of underthrown long balls even in his “highlights”, but it could work. He could be skinny Lamar or he could be weak armed Fields.
JJ – I started on the JJ train just because it was fun, but I think he might be my actual favorite. He fits what KOC does the best and reminds me of a Josh Allen/Joe Burrow hybrid. The play volume just isn’t there and therefore experience. Sitting for a year would be good for him and then I think he could be something special. He misses some easy throws because of lazy footwork but makes some crazy throws down the field and is as clutch as there is.
Overall hope for the Vikings to draft:
1a – JJ
1b – Daniels
2 – Williams
3 – Defense
I’ll look at Nix and Penix another day.

On a non-football note, last night at our house was one of those perfect crap storms. We are so thankful that our grandson’s health is trending upwards, but we are still dealing with the stress of that and of taking in our granddaughter. We knew that my wife’s brother’s wife had cancer, but when my wife talked to her brother last night we found out that she has stage 4 cancer in her colon, liver and lungs. They are sending her home for end-of-life care. We decided that we need to share this information with our kids, which was also very emotional for my wife so I had to do most of the talking. After I got done sharing with my oldest (the parents of our grandkids), my DIL asked if she could talk to me without her daughter being around. She proceeded to tell me some horrible things that are happening in her family back here in WI that I will not share. We will not be sending our granddaughter for weekend visits to her mom’s family for a while. During this time, my wife was trying to console her sister that lives close to the sister-in-law that has cancer. Once we had a moment alone, I shared what my DIL had told me. By the end of the evening we were emotionally wiped out and were just stunned by the perfect crap storm of an evening that it was. She was worried about me; I was worried about her her and her sister and we both were worried about our DIL since she already has enough to worry about with her son. Needless to say, I did not sleep well.

Have you guys heard of the “What Three Words” App?
Basically, a few college kids decided latitude and longitude and coordinates like that were too complicated, so they developed software that broke the entire world up into like 10-foot squares. Each square is then labeled with three random words.
911 call centers and police are now using this system. The cops who gave the class love it.
If you are lost but can still text, you can text the three words for your location to 911 and people can pinpoint you on their phones and walk right to you.
Hunters also use it a lot. For example, they can set up bait in the woods, take note of the three words of its location and go right to it from their phone.
I downloaded it and tried it it out. It is pretty neat.

For me, I prefer the Imperial measurements. Mostly because when someone says 3/8″, I have a rough idea of what that would look like in my head.
Since working in Engineering design, and the fact that my company uses the metric system. I have started to get used to what 1mm represents. But, I still have to do the math, in my head, when someone says 300mm, to get to roughly 4″.
I remember back in the 70s when there was a push to try to move us to metric. They put up some signs with kilometers and even as a teenager, it meant nothing to me. I know what a mile is, a kilometer doesn’t register with me. When we went to Canadia a bunch of years ago, I had to mentally recalculate the signs to miles from km.
It’s fun driving faster in Canada (100 km/h is way faster than 62 mph) but all of a sudden the cities get very very far away, like I was only 60 away from Regina and now it is 95. Jeez.

My dad’s old Ranger that I drive to work from end of February to the beginning of November is metric. The Imperial numbers are inside of the kilometer scale and in dark red. They’re hard to read so I have the scale in my head, ie. 65 mph – 105 km/h; 40 – 65; 35 – 60; 25 – 40.

I had an AWESOME religion professor in college and we’d talk and one thing I will never forget is if you really want to understand the Christian religion you have to understand and read something (I forgot the exact name) about the Rabbis and understand the Jewish religion. I brought up the idea of if God has a divine plan then sit on your ass because whatever is going to happen to you is going to happen to you. He said the Rabbis response would be… “well, God knew you were just going to sit on your ass.” Haha they always has a damn near smart ass answer to it all. It was great. But really I had to give that woman I was talking to props because life might be a gift but so is the kingdom of heaven which we hear all the time life is just a drop in the bucket compared to eternity etc… So worthy of protecting in her eyes is fine, she didn’t argue that. Which is why self defense is not a sin, it’s worthy of protecting but she was so sternly sure she was going to heaven she would never fight back. I think she meant it too.

That level of being devout is taken to an extreme but it’s the positive side of that continuum but that EXACT same way of thinking and devout ways is what also makes jihad and the crusades possible.

I had an older cousin I really looked up to when I was litter and he watched the original and so did I hanging out with him… I spaced out or fell asleep didn’t get it but never revisited it or any of the books. But I agree. Very dangerous indeed.
It easy to blame it on religion. If those kind of people didn’t have religion, they would have another excuse for their behavior.
Disagree and it’s two fold. First off, you can absolutely find passages in these religious books that are pro murder, pro slavery, pro horrendous horrendous things. 2nd bad people will do bad things no matter what, we agree there but it takes religion to get good people to do terrible things. By religion that includes politics or any kind of thing you connect to in your life so hard core it can’t be fallible not just spooky guy in the sky.
We agree that religion means more than just God. Some people’s religion is work, football and any other assorted things that people invest their life to.
