I enjoyed a few good conspiracy theories, especially when people used to write books about them. Those books always have a small but dedicated audience that is willing to pay good money for the few books available. Good old supply and demand.

Covid doesn’t even matter anymore. Even the CDC says to treat it like a normal cold. If a cold was not a big enough deal a couple of weeks ago to keep him off the debate stage, then why is it so bad now that he has to go home? That is of course believing his debate performance actually had anything to do with a cold, but you don’t get to cancel events for a cold after saying you were on the stage with Trump with a cold. I don’t buy any of it and would not be surprised if he’s out by the end of day Friday. Most likely midday tomorrow or early afternoon to take attention away from Trump’s speech at the RNC.
I don’t buy the COVID either. But I like your ‘medical excuse’ theory.
After Schiff ( Pelosi) today, he knows he’s on life support.

There’s a report out this afternoon that the local police are absolutely pissed at the Feds. They claim they never had any tactical resposibility., were only asked to provide traffic control. And their folks reacted in reaction to the attendees seeing the shooter.

Yeah, a town official (maybe the guy in the video) was on Fox a little bit ago and said he was pissed and couldn’t take it anymore with his cops being thrown under the bus and that they absolutely had zero responsibility other than traffic control. This Cheatle chick is going to burn.
Until I hear some evidence to the contrary, this was an inside job of planned and coordinated incompetence. Wouldn’t shock me one bit if an FBI informant was in the area scouting potential loners and suggesting an easy target to a would be assassin near the rally.

I won’t (can’t) discuss the Trump case, but you might note this is a fake news story. This occurred back 2017, and the agent was “retired” with a pension. The poster here deliberately misrepresented the facts to enrage people.

Thanks for pointing that out. I just saw that but have been rapped up in some minor work emergencies of my own. The whole thing is still hinky, but it was not my intention to say a Trump hater was on his detail if that was not the case. It would be pretty surprising, but in the current light of things, at the same time not that surprising. There are much bigger issues in this one that are real though and I apologize for that one.

A random 20 year old acting completely alone walked within 150 yards of a presidential campaign rally with a rifle, climbed onto a rooftop in full view of Secret Service snipers, set up his shot and fired without anyone intervening and with no help from anyone.
This 20 year old is also so politically radical as to attempt an assassination and yet not radical enough to have ever posted any political writings or commentary on any social media site ever in his life.
He also wrote no manifesto and left behind no indication about why he did it.
His last and only political act, before attempting to kill the Republican candidate, was to register as a Republican.
You must believe this and ask no questions about it or else you are a conspiracy theorist.
And one thing we know about assassination attempts is that there’s never any conspiring involved.

Life is good, just got an estimate from a house painter who will power wash and paint my house for 5200 – much less than I expected. He is an immigrant but a US citizen – I suspect he may have a few illegals on his team – maybe not – he HATES Biden, says he voted for the Dems last time around and will never make that mistake again.
Does sound like a reasonable price.
We had a decent size house painted for $4,000 in 2020.

But this short video apparently shows the secret service snipers with their guns aimed at the assassin well before the opened fire, yet they did not take him out until after he fired.

I heard they caught glimpses of him but did not have a clear line of sight. I can understand not taking a shot if you don’t have one, but why was Trump still on the stage? You have an obvious threat, get the president either off the stage or behind the barrier until the threat is eliminated.
Agreed, as soon as they suspected a shooter on the roof, Trump should have been removed from the stage until they could apprehend the alleged shooter.
That is in fact a hard SS rule – identified threat, get the asset off the stage immediately.
Yeah, so why didn’t it happen? Also, how come the pictures I’ve seen show a ladder at least 10 or 12 feet long to get on the roof and they are saying he went to Home Depot and bought a 5 foot ladder? Even at 5 feet, you are going to try and tell me that a 20 year old carried a ladder and an AR15 almost a mile and wasn’t stopped?

I’m not disputing that and if there was any confusion, hesitation, uneasiness, or hint of unknown about the identity of the shooter, then Trump should not have been on that stage. Just trying to share some of the tidbits I’ve heard. Bongino is pretty tapped in on this one since he used to be Secret Service. He’s also saying that some of the current agents he’s talked to have been told that if they want to keep their jobs they will keep their mouths shut.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there was an interagency communication issue. You would think the Secret Service would bring radios to give to everybody, but there are always interagency issues. I know a guy that was a game warden for awhile and they couldn’t even talk to Highway Patrol. Their dispatchers sat in the same room but there could have been something happening on the side of the highway while a game warden drove by and they would have had no clue. I’m not saying it makes sense, but there are issues.
A 5 foot ladder would not make sense unless you already knew that there was an A/C unit, or some such, to utilize the rest of the way to the roof.
Here’s the 5 foot ladder he supposedly bought at Home Depot and carried approximately 1 mile while also carrying an AR, unquestioned.

Very good question. Not to mention how he got that ladder there (I don’t think his car was big enough, he wasn’t in a pickup). I’m guessing the ladder was already there, even if just an object the business used which begs the question why the FBI has said he bought a 5 foot ladder.

That is why law enforcement is not trained to attempt head shots. Aim center mass unless there is something in the way like a hostage, in which case its a shot your probably not taking.

The type of armor he would have to wear to stop a rifle round would be pretty heavy and bulky still. Typical body armor is only good for handgun rounds up to like 40 cal.

Doubtful it would have made much of a difference. As somebody who seemed to only shoot at the range, he likely went to the store and bought the cheapest .223 rounds they had which would have been full metal jackets.

Those type of rounds were designed to get into soft tissue and tumble causing lot of damage (per my army training).

Too complicated a question for me to answer properly but the mind plays around with it as a theoretical exercise.
A sniper rifle, no doubt. A M-16/AR-15 variant? Maybe, some room for doubt anyway.
Does the 15 use the same rounds as the M16?
Yes. They are .223 Remington or 5.56 NATO. Basically the same thing for all intents and purposes. It is a .22 caliber bullet. Yes, the same diameter as a 22 LR, it just has a lot more powder behind it and are usually about twice to three times the weight.
Thanks. Shot the 16 quite a bit in Army. It is a very lethal weapon.
The M16 is a militarized version of the AR15 I believe (they gave it the ability to shoot full auto). They are very versatile and adaptable which is why they have stuck around so long, not to mention reliable. I think there is a push in the military to increase the use of higher caliber rifles, but the cost of 223 rounds compared to 308 makes a difference when you’re pumping out enough ammo to fight a war and the recoil on a 223 allows for quicker and more accurate follow ups increasing the lethality simply by increasing the amount of rounds that hit the intended target.
Also the lighter rd allows more ammo to be carried/soldier.
Yep and higher capacity magazines so you have to reload less.
As I recall, the 16 had like a spring in the stock and you felt no recoil. Very light, easy to carry and at least for me accurate up to 300 yards. We all had 20 round magazines.
And on auto you could dump 20 rounds very quickly. Had to learn to first short bursts.
Yep and typically they have 30 round mags now. At least that’s what you can buy if you’re not stuck in Minnesota or California.
The newer ones, I believe A2’s do not shoot fully automatic, but 3 round burst.
That’s good. It was actually hard to first just three round bursts.
I believe the latest version the M4, I believe is the same way, 3 round burst. But according to a friend that served in Afghanistan, they never took it off of semi auto. They could shoot faster and more accurately with it on Semi.

5.56 is what we used in the Army (M-16) and at the Prison (AR-15).
At 130 yards, a 223 round would only lose like 400 fps and probably less than 300 ft-lbs of energy, depending on the bullet, etc. At 130 yards, a 22 caliber bullet would still be going around 2800 fps and have around 100 ft-lbs of energy. A typical 223 round would be lethal to at least 500 yards on a person, much more for a well placed shot. I’ve seen 22 caliber bullets (from a 22-250, ballistic tip, not fmj) rip prairie dogs in half at 300+ yards. I shot a coyote with one around 150 yards and the exit hole was about 5 inches across. That was a neck shot so it didn’t even hit bone to fragment the bullet more. I don’t know about the tumbling thing. I don’t see how it would start to tumble with the ballistics of it. If you’re shooting at soft targets, you want a lead or polymer tip. FMJs are good for getting through harder objects, including armor and bone, without the bullet fragmenting as much.

Not asking you in particular (you’re more of a battery changing expert than a NFLPA rules and regulations expert), just a general question, are the Vikings able to suspend him without pay for more games than the league? I know they can suspend him for longer , but not sure on if they can do it without pay.
Depends on his contract language but usually there’s a clause that let’s the team suspend him for “contract detrimental”.

I don’t know. When I was about 23 I was going to get a motorcycle. A friend got killed on one and I threw the cards away for the guys I’d talked to and will not get on even a dirt bike to this day.
I was going to get a bike around 20 years old and my Mom talked to me about the death rate of Motorcycle riders (no mandatory helmet rules back then) and I put it off.
Heard so many ‘laid the bike down’/injury stories from ‘big tough’ biker wannabes since then that I believe I made the right call.

I sure as hell don’t want to be judged based on the stupid things I did at 22. I am not proud of them.
Of course we were all stupid when young. But very few of us were making millions and under contracts that had behavior standards. Not to mention a host of professional advisors.
And then there’s driving a RR around LAX, perhaps busier than Picadilly Square in London, and simply parking your car in main traffic lane – not to the side of the road.
And then. you have had a driving problem before.

While I appreciate the sentiment, and fully agree that impaired driving is terrible, I will advocate for weed vs booze for a myriad of health reasons.
Don’t drive after doing either, and there are no issues.
Addison can afford a fancy car or 2. Maybe he needs to hire a driver.
The team should just have 2 or 3 full time drivers on their staff to chauffeur players around at any time of the day.

Since JA is likely suspended to start the season and Hock injured I suspect we will have to cobble together a passing attack for a game (hopefully) or 3.
Tonyan and Oliver to handle majority of TE receptions until Hock is healthy.
Adams, Chandler and (hopefully) Akers to be more involved in the passing game.
Other WRs are mostly ‘wannabes’, ‘maybes’, and ‘hopefully’s’ but KOC might scheme slants/quick hitters to take advantage of the Triple Team on Jets (that might help out Darnold as well).
KAM could pick up a useful Vet that has a year left in the tank as other teams cutdown.
Maybe some duct tape (or 100mph tape as we called it in the Army) would help as well.

When I was young, we ate hamburger all the time every which way imaginable. Even hamburger with asparagus – yuck. Hated it.
Then went into Army, Was out in the field and ate C rations for about ten days. Then thought I’d give a $100 for a hamburger.
I’ll drink some kool-aid after this works out.
The Vikings went from a frozen hamburger patty to ribeye. Frozen burger patty’s aren’t terrible, especially if you don’t know better and the ribeye might take a little longer to cook and make sure it’s right, but the wait is going to be worth it.
I’m a little older than you. I’ll celebrate when this actually works out.
It’s been a long time since I was excited about the Vikings so I am choosing hope and joy. I’ll get negative again when they shit the bed (in about 20 years when JJ retires).
I’m not negative nor overly positive. If I am worried it is that the Packers and Lions have solid teams with good QB play. And the Bears seem to have gotten their act together. Now that young kid from the Bears could flop, but just as easily so could ours.
So. I’ll just be in wait and see mode.

Also used instant dry milk on the generic cheerios.

I just watched Back To The Future 2 last week. Fun movie. Back to the Future 1&2 are a couple of my favorites.
Part 3 is okay, but the magic is clearly running dry by that point.
