The Texans are signing veteran running back Cam Akers following a successful workout on Sunday, according to a league source.
Akers, a former Los Angeles Rams second-round draft pick, has also drawn interest from the Minnesota Vikings where he played last season after a trade and suffering another torn Achilles. He played in six games and rushed for 138 yards and one touchdown, catching 11 passes for 70 yards.
Thought we were going to sign him when he passed a physical per reports.
Did he not pass ours or did he just get a better offer once he passed and could sign a contract?
No idea what happened. I thought he was going to stay a Viking. Maybe when they brought Jones in, he decided to move on. Texans are expected to be very good this year.
But ‘the report’ that they Vikings were signing him once he passed his physical was long after the signed Jones.
Unless Cam wasn’t asked when they reported that, or they lowballed him and he got a better offer.

As mentioned below, it’s the official start of football season in my eyes. Rookies report today, Vets on Tuesday.
As camp begins let us collectively hope for the best, prepare for the worst and accept any and all outcomes with dignity and grace. Let our victories be their own rewards and our losses hard fought learning experiences.
Let our injuries be minimal and fast healing, let our confidence grow with each passing day. A 6 second video of Darnold finding Jets for pay dirt on a post corner over Denzel Ward in joint practice with the Browns would do wonders for the Vikings fan psyche – Another of JJ finding Nailor on a 9 down the seam would help to soothe concerns over the uncertainty of Addison.
Let us solve the IOL and with it, find a running game capable of converting 3rd/4th and inches. Let’s find a nastiness in the A gaps we haven’t seen since Hutchinson.
Let us continue to have the best tackle tandem in the league. Let our bouncers throw guys out of the club and keep the edges locked down and give our QB, whoever he may be, time to throw and deliver the ball downfield.
Let the B-Flo through NFL. 2nd year in a defense now tailored with guys that fit his scheme. Let Ivan Pace be the sideline to sideline eraser his new number (0) would suggest and the 2nd coming of Zach Thomas. Let Harrison Smith push back the sun for one more good year in cleats. Let Metellus and Bynum continue their ascension. Let us find a GD corner that will contest receivers and not be bystanders. Let Najee Thompson continue to be a special teams monster that makes a difference.
Let our new kicker have a titanium leg, balls of steel, the memory of a goldfish and ice in his veins.
Let us listen with soft smiles on our faces as everyone says we’re the 4th best team in the division, an 8-9/7-10 ball club with a QB room consisting of a never-was, a journeyman veteran and a rookie who didn’t throw the ball much in college and wasn’t even the guy we wanted. Let them talk with certainty about the brutal early schedule, the unknowns of the interior of both lines and the last 2 games of the year against division rivals that are widely considered to better teams than we are. Let them talk as if the playing of the actual games is a formality.

With the Free Agents we signed and our draft choices I hope we crack the top 10 by the end of a season of seasoning (pun intended) and playing together.

“There’s an untrue assertion that a member of the former president’s team requested additional resources and that those were rebuffed,” Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesperson for the Secret Service, said last Sunday, the day after the shooting.
But now… it turns out the Secret Service was lying.

Best round so far today at the Open is 4 under by Ryan Fox. Jason Day is 3 under through 7 holes, and now 5 back of the lead. The guys with a chance are coming up soon.
Twinkies waste a strong start by Pablo, 7 IP, 1 ER, 4 hits, 7 KOs, and give up 5 runs in the 12th to go down 8-4 at home.
British Open tightened up, at the end of the day. Billy Horschel of all people, has the lead at 4 under par. Shane Lowry was leading at 7 under starting the day, but shot 6 over to fall back to 1 under for the tournament, now alone in 9th place. I think anyone within 4 shots of the lead, could win it. Maybe even 5 or 6. One bad swing can cost you 3 strokes.
Gonna be a fun day tomorrow.

Kudo’s to Josh, BUT everyone knows you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink. JA got all leadership, mentorship, and support in the world last year. He made another bad decision/choice. No one bears any responsibility but him. He won’t learn or change either, unless the punishment is severe enough.
I say sit him for a year. He still has to show up for practice and be at every game, but he knows he will not play in a single game this year.
I like your sense of ‘consequences’ for actions taken.
But I suspect that will turn out to be more of a ‘cut off your nose to spite your face’ kind of thing.
JA will get attitude and demand a trade.
Vikings will lose his service for the year and any trade return will be lessened due to the fact that we won’t have much choice but to trade him at that point and other teams will know that.
The players today are not build to handle tough lessons, if JA could he would not be acting the way he is. Stern warning and maybe a short suspension and a fine is about all we can expect.
Wish your way would work but in today’s NFL I don’t see that happening.

Guess what you think it worse, cool, wet ,dreary like Pacific Northwest, Damn Cold like N.Dakota or Minn? or Hot and muggy like the South East US or hot, dry like the western desert areas.
Personally I would take cool, wet and dreary over hot and muggy and I have lived in both before. I would also take hot and dry over damn cold and I have spent a decent amount of time in both.
Now I will see what Idaho has to offer, research shows it is very similar to Tehachapi Ca. where I worked so I should be able to deal pretty well.

Happy Saturday. Over breakfast at the hotel, we ran into a lady that grew up near Rochester, but she was all decked out with a Packer shirt and Packer earrings. She was a sweet lady but obviously has severe mental issues.

Team Lead of the crew that moved my household goods here was a FTP fan, good dude who did an excellent job. Something must be broken inside though to be a FTP fan.

Trying to get something useful accomplished daily here finishing up the Idaho House.
Garage is mostly done, things will get moved and there are tools/toolbox yet to organize.
The Teacher has the Master Bedroom and Closet set with her stuff and I get to fit my stuff in what room is left, looking like we might need a dresser.
Have to go thru the boxes of spices and what should be kept and what should be pitched.
After that it will be pulling out the decor/wall size pictures and deciding what goes where. Other than that just filling in drawers and shelves see what works best. House is functional and we can take deep breaths and coast for a bit.
Moving is a challenge. I’m glad we haven’t done it in 26 years.
Was right at 19 years for me, Then adding The Teacher 15 years ago (when she moved in).
When I moved in to that house I figured if you define ‘moving’ by staying in one place 2 months or more and not going back where you came from I calculated that with all the time in Army I was over 30 times.
19 years was a good break for me, flip side it made it a much more difficult proposition.

Well Cine certainly hasn’t panned out, so yeah, I’d agree. Addison is definitely in the dog house. His immature decisions could kill himself or others. Kid needs a lot of growing up.
If Cine can become even a useful Special Teamer it would help. His salary is sunk cost so unless we can trade him for anything useful, maybe a late round pick. I don’t expect much more than that.
Addison is frustrating. He is a good WR, remembering that TD vs 49ers. He has had some idiot moments off the field, he certainly need to grow up some. Not ready to bail on him quite yet though. If we do trade it we should get quite a bit more given his play/stats.
His stock is dropping fast, not surprised if he does something stupid again.
