Question of the Day – Do you make an effort to go see live fireworks? Disney ruined that for me, as local fireworks are super lame compared to the shows they put on. Plus, I do not feel like fighting crowds or bugs. When my children were younger, I was a rebel and crossed state lines to buy real fireworks. Had a nice competition with the neighbors and the kids all loved it.

Less than 3 weeks to training camp
Dak Prescott has been wearing a protective boot on his right foot because of a foot sprain.
Prescott has worn the boot for a week. The injury became known when a picture was taken of Prescott walking with his girlfriend while on vacation in Cabo San Lucas.
How Prescott suffered the injury isn’t known but the Cowboys last held an organized workout on June 5, which was the final practice of the two-day mandatory minicamp.
It always makes me smile when bad things happen to ‘The Boys’.

We skip the fireworks thing as well. Did it for my daughter when she was young. Daughter and son in law do some at their house for the grands, but too far for us to drive winding country roads in the dark.
We watch the horizon to the Southwest from our front yard. Don’t have to drive anywhere. The fireworks are about 5 miles away. Easy to see.
Nice. BTW, Thunder over Louisville, a couple weeks before Derby is one of the biggest and coolest fireworks displays in the country. We don’t go to that anymore, literally takes hours to get home from there.

Yeah, traveling over there 2 weeks before the Open, to get acclimated. Jet lag and time difference is a bitch.
6 or 7 hours does need some time.
Jet lag – seems even if you take a nap everyday it can last for weeks. Very strange.
I never had much of an issue with it even going to Korea.
Timing your sleep pattern is vital of course.

Best Fireworks I have seen was in Stuttgart. The Army put on a party at a local lake and the whole Military Community came along with 1,000s of Germans to watch the fireworks over the lake. They used artillery to fire them and the local military radio stationed played music synced to the fireworks.
I also remember Ft Carson, we had a small hill across the street which we could climb and see the fireworks from Colorado Springs. One year there was a thunderstorm south of us and the lightening was happening the same time as the fireworks, almost like a competition. The Lightening won hands down as everyone on the was facing and watching that vs the fireworks.
We lived in Weil im Schönbuch when we were in Germany. Beautiful quaint town just outside of Stuttgart.
Our unit HGs/Barracks was just south Ludwigsburg, fancy castle there.
Lived in Aldingen, a small town/community on the Neckar River.
Been to Aldingen, and it’s really nice there too.
Last time I went to fireworks was probably 10 years ago when the kids were teenagers. Not worth the hassle as a seasoned citizen.

We haven’t gone anywhere special to see fireworks in many a year. If we get a break from the rain this evening, we will shoot off some fireworks in our yard. My son is bringing them so I don’t know how fancy they will be.
The Tree of Liberty was looking a little dry, but the Supreme Court is giving me a tiny inkling of hope. I usually buy fireworks but with Bidenomics and such I just can’t justify it this year. Not too mention where we’re going for the afternoon would be a horrible idea to light fireworks as we’d probably burn down a few thousand acres and a few dozen houses.
We have had several brush fires around us the last few months and Calif has had it share as well. But that won’t stop the morons from trying to blow their fingers off tonight.
Packers coming tomorrow and the movers on Sat, Getting so very close.
We used to do the good ones too.

QOTD – No. In fact I too am ruined by Disney. Since I live right next door I see their fireworks every night and now don’t pay all that much attention. Tonight is a little more special so I’ll watch some but from the backyard.
