According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Dak Prescott has a record-setting contract figure in mind for his next deal.

Per the report, Prescott is seeking $60 million per year.

Out of curiosity, if you had a game tomorrow (and wanted to win) who would you pick to be your QB – DAK, Lawrence or Hurts?

Wow… now THAT’s a good question. Keeping in mind that QB’s don’t win games all by themselves, I’d have to go with Dak actually.

Your average is pretty strange Surly. Prescott has thrown 202 TD’s in 114 games, and almost 30,000 yards with a 67% completion rate and a 99 passer rating over his career. Them’s good numbers. But wait, there’s more!

Last year, Dak threw for over 4500 yards, with 36 TD’s, and completed 69.5% of his passes for a 105.9 passer rating.

If that’s average to you, I have no idea what standard you’re using.

I hope Jerra pays him.
My guess is that the Cowboys see the light that paying big$$ for average on a QB isn’t feasible. Particularly with Lamb and Parsons also wanting record deals.

I think he has a $40 mill cap hit or something next year if they don’t sign him to a new deal.

He does.
But if you pay him, it’s higher AND you kick the can again.
Still can’t see them being able to sign all 3.
I think Dak is the odd man out.

Just say on a show pay DAK and Parsons, and then tag Lamb. Not sure how that works out, but sounds good.

DE Viking

I would totally disagree with that move.
Lamb can refuse to sign the tag.
Parsons is year three. 5th year option solves that for the short term

Reasoning – Parsons is a generational talent so they will pay him. DAK is more important to offense than Lamb.
Guess time will tell what they do. No big deal to me.

Yeah, they painted themselves into a corner with poop on that one. sign him his cap hit is like $26 plus new money in 2025. Don’t sign him and its $40 while he plays for another team.

Dak can run an offense, and he puts up good numbers every year. If you look at his production since 2016 it’s impressive.

Seems the question is then – if he’s not elite but better than average and capable of running the offense well, what should you pay him?

No longer New Vikings Fan
Reply to  JRobert
17 June 2024 4:33 pm

If a team gets to a point where paying their QB is getting beyond the pale, they must consider other options. It’s a judgement call of course, and replacing a QB that is as consistently good as Dak is not an easy task. There aren’t any vets on the market remotely in his class, so you roll the dice with a QB that might be able to make some plays, and a rookie. Not a really good set of choices here. Dallas is in a pickle.

I’m no GM type (at all) but this strikes me as strange. Now as I said DAK is not elite, but he is very good. So you’re suggestion we pay him for a while, and as he gets better at running our offense, and wants more money, we dump him and start over.
Now, I wouldn’t run a business that way.

I’ve become a huge fan of the “catch up to live through key plays” or “watch key plays” feature. Years ago it would have been unheard of for me to consider watching a hockey game that way, but I would prefer to watch something on Prim or NF with my wife and skip all the commercials and intermissions. Now if by some miracle the Oilers stretch to game 7 I’ll watch that live.

Only sport I like to watch live any more is Vikings.

That would be sweet. Panthers players are currently pretty relaxed, I’m sure flying family in and dealing with that leading up to game 4 (in case they won the Cup) distracted them. I don’t currently have high hopes but if Oilers do win tomorrow, the pressure will be really high on Florida heading into game six. Win game six and boys we have a best of one series on Florida ice. That would be epic…I’ve watched two SC game 7’s with Edmonchuk, one W and one L. This would be the tiebreaker!

From the Edmonton Journal:

The dream goes like this: Whoever wins Game 5 on Tuesday night wins the Stanley Cup.

If the Florida Panthers close out their 3-1 series lead on home ice they’ll be crowned the well-deserved champions. They’ll have won it fair and square.

But if the Edmonton Oilers pick up where they left off in Game 4 and win their second in a row, they’re going to run the table and equal the biggest comeback in Stanley Cup Final history.

That’s the dream, anyway, as Oilers fans circle their emotional wagons and cling to any sliver of hope they can find.

A long shot? Yup? Far-fetched? A little.

But when one more loss means they turn the lights out on your season, any theory, regardless of how far-fetched or rose coloured, seems plausible.

It has to be, because the alternative is unthinkable. And, really, you don’t have to connect a lot of dots to understand why Tuesday night might really be Florida’s last best chance to win the series.

Game 5 will be the last time Florida has any sort of advantage. Lose Game 5 on home ice, in what is supposed to be their rebound game after being throttled 8-1 in Game 4, and there is NO WAY they fly back to Edmonton and win a Game 6 in Rogers Place. No chance.

And that means a Game 7 coin toss with the Oilers having just won three games in a row. So, yeah, you can kind of see how some people might see Game 5 as Edmonton’s stairway to heaven.

It seems a lot of people are down on the MN Twins, but if we were 40-32 any other season, we would be celebrating.

They have the 9th best record in the league and currently 6th in the AL. They had a tough schedule to start the season and it looks like it will get easier for a stretch.

With 40% of Law Enforcement Agencies not reporting to the FBI including the NYPD of course the reported numbers are going down, that was the plan, actual crime not so much.

FJB Administration instituted new reporting rules in 2021, only 2% of Calif Law enforcement turned in reports to the FBI, .3% in Florida.

On the good new side of things, the doctors are surprised how well Zeph is doing. They are talking about discharging him on Tuesday. Mom and dad will still have to give him some meds and they are still feeding him via a tube and mom and dad will have to do that also, but it will be great for them to get out of the hospital. They will still be able to stay at the Ronald McDonald house as they will be checking in for appointments quite frequently. He also needs his stamina back as he gets tuckered out pretty easily. But I also get tuckered out pretty easily, so we are in the same boat.

I am thinking about getting the Blackstone pizza oven. It’s spendy, but I make a lot of pizza on the pellet grill.

You can do pizza on the Blackstone griddle also. I’ve been doing some recipe research and there are all kinds of things that you can make on it.

It’s definitely very good eating.
I’ve had the blackstone for about 2 years now.
My cholesterol level is up, but the food is awesome.

I heard a couple of good dad jokes yesterday.

I told my wife that she needs to embrace her mistakes. She gave me a hug.

Did you hear about the magician that disappeared in Mexico City? He was doing a performance and told the crowd that he was going to make himself disappear. He said, “Uno, dos”, and then poof, he disappeared without a trace.

The first one was the winner of the dad joke contest at church because, of course, all the ladies voted for that one.

The second one was in the top five and was my favorite.

Well Climate started changing back when the earth first got a climate, so of course it will continue to change.
10k years ago there was a 2.5 mile thick sheet of ice over most of North America and then ‘global warming’ started.

Yep.
Global Warming without man made CO2.
And in order to get the sheet of ice in the first place, global cooling had to occur without manmade CO2.

It’s science.

I can see them not resigning him if his demands are too much ala ‘he who should not be named’ but ‘cut’?
Not sure I see any rationalization for that in the future. I am probably missing something.

FINDINGS: No acute bony abnormality. There is moderate to severe degenerative changes of bilateral hips. There is severe degenerative changes of partially visualized lower lumbar spine.

I would say all in all not great news.

The last winter we had this nice was 40 years ago.
