VIKINGS NEWS –
I got nothing. Team is average. That is what we get. I have seen enough of Wentz that I would prefer Brosmer or a one legged JJ at this point. Thankfully I am going on vacation and will not have to watch Thursday night when the team gets embarrassed again on National TV. Weather looks nice in Florida, and I will try some new beers while sitting on the beach.

Kirk still sucks

RGIII is maybe the dumbest man on the planet. This take from August after the Colts signed Daniel Jones.
That take did not age very well.
Indeed… remember when he said Kellen Mond was everything Cousins wasn’t, and Cousins was upset at the pick? He wrote an article about how Mond was going to come in and take Cousins job. Wish I could find that.
Injury report…
Ginkel still limited.
OK…
Bow posted that more than 4 hours ago.
Old age makes one slow, I know this from personal experience.
Laughing…
I just bet my friend 50 bucks that the Vikes will make the playoffs this year.
I am also considering starting a GofFundMe page to help pay for my stupid bets.
Maybe start an NGO or Non-profit and let the Dims channel money to you if you claim to support Trans Surgery in Nepal or some such nonsense.
solid advice
🤣😆😂
Hmmm…
That is huge.
So we have a chance to break a record Thursday?
Yeah???
That’s exactly what I thought SoCal. Laughing.
“Peaceful neighbors looking for a better life”
Sooner or later several of these Federal Agents are going to get killed. Hope we can hold the folks responsible for this accountable – not sure how thouigh.
Whether by Executive Order or Congressional legislation, there needs to be a Federal law that establishes a minimum 100 ft no go zone between Federal Law Enforcement and anyone who wants to protest. Minimum mandatory 5 year sentence for violations. Judges can’t waive it or alter it. Any physical altercation like this is a minimum 10 year sentence.
Can you imagine if you or I, or anyone else here, took a swing at a Police Officer. This is craziness.
Politicians, the elected leaders of the Nation, are encouraging, fostering, facilitating and empowering these people. They are overtly telling people to kill ICE agents. To fight them. Elected leaders should immediately when they advocate for violence against law enforcement. The Dems are the party of violent sedition.
I don’t think this declared BLM as a terrorist group if I recall correctly.
NSPM-7 focuses broadly on disrupting funded networks behind violent acts, including those tied to 2020 BLM-related riots, without naming BLM directly as a terrorist group.
Why you letting details get in the way of a good narrative??
This is beyond the pale criminal. The left have convinced folks that opposing law enforcement is some just and noble activity, and violent opposition is acceptable. They have spent millions on advising illegals on how to resist, how to evade, and how to oppose Federal Agents. They have lawyers roaming protests looking for opportunities to sue Federal authorities. They tell the protesters what to do to try and incite an agent to act out, so they can film it, then take legal action.
Trump is right to send more people to help protect law enforcement, and prevent acts like this.
All the shooting was done by Ice.
The illegal who tried to ram his way free was hit in the elbow and the Ice agent was hit by a ricochet.
But of course the woke/left will claim that the poor illegal thought a Nazi Torture Squad was out to get him.
Didn’t want to get “disappeared”.
Sounds like it’s not that his footwork has regressed but that because of the injury he’s not able to correctly execute, huh. Send the sacrificial redhead out there again and JJ can come back and slay the lion.
Well the Redhead has been here long enough to now know what he’s doing. He needs to step it up and play solid football. We don’t need a hero, just get the ball to our playmaker and run the offense.
And KOC needs to stop all the political mumbojumbo.
Wentz is playing pretty solid football for being thrown in there with only a few weeks on the team. Sure he’s made mistakes, but he’s also made some real pro plays. You should watch the Nailor TD that was called back. Wentz worked Jefferson on the inside move to his left, looked at the corner route to Addison to his left, and then came back to Nailor to his right. The focus on the left side of the field initially, gives Nailor just enough space to find a hole at the goal line. This was top shelf QB play.
That’s fine – I just want him to play better.
Our offense hasn’t looked that good all year. The entire unit needs to pick it up. We have a lot of money invested in that offense.
and those offense lineman need to stop the ola blocks and get their act together.
So realistically, he’s playing decently. Yes he can play better, and I think he will. He has shown some real pro QB play though, that I liked.
Ok fine. But there’s 10 other guys on that offense that need to really pick up their games. Block better, run harder, catch the ball – there’s a lot of games besides Wentz that need to pick it up.
Always the case. You and I agree this is a team game. When the QB is forced to overcome poor play by others, by somehow raising his own level of play, that’s ultimately not gonna work.
He was UNWATCHABLE last Sunday…solid football..JFC..thats a laugh.
No. You must deny what you saw.
All of the red zone issues were not his fault.
His stats were great.
His 64.9 passer rating on Sunday is just a mirage.
Some day you will see the light.
Sounds to little ol’ dumb me like KOC is making his QB learning curve even harder than it already is.
“The reactionary movements within the pocket. Being able to use his athleticism to protect himself in the pocket…don’t really know the movement I need to make…”?
Are we getting too nitpicky with a natural athlete? At what point do we just let him play ball?
Or maybe I’m just taking this coach speak as more than it actually is.
I don’t think he is saying he is nitpicking his footwork, but his injury. Little movements when he moves in an unexpected way still hurts.
Pew, what’s that smell?
Came in late today. I posted something about McCarthy not starting, but then the page refreshed and all these posts popped up, so I deleted it.
Great QB’s in the NFL aren’t the greatest athletes. They’re the greatest processors. Tom Brady wasn’t the fastest guy, the biggest guy, or the guy with the cannon arm. Nor was Joe Montana. The guys who are ultimately great, are the guys who study defenses and work on offensive concepts that beat defenses. Rodgers was a rare genius who figured out some simple things early, like rushing to the line, and snapping the ball while a guy was running off the field, to get a free 5 yards. He also saw that once a play is underway, the defense flows to where they think the ball is going, and leaves acres of grass undefended. His instincts in picking up free yards by playing unconventionally are really unmatched.
Great QB play is more between the ears than anything else.
Poop
Trade for Kirko….
Sadly, I would rather watch Kirko over Wentz.
It would be good comedy though…..
Coach speak for, he is no good we are going to draft his replacement in the 2026 draft.
No!!!!!!!!
JJ might actually be dead and this is all a big cover up.
Hand off merchant.
Now show a clip of all of his bad throws.
I think our WRs need to get used to how quickly the ball gets to them. A lot of the drops from the 1st two games looked like the receivers were surprised the ball was already there when it got to them.
He also hasn’t played a game with Addison on the field.
Just another excuse.
Or Darrisaw…..
Man that’s great. When we play Illinois and Iowa we’re going to beat the hell out of them.
A lot of those throws were into fairly tight windows. It doesn’t matter if the DBs are NFL or college. If you can get the ball to the receiver in tight windows.
What JJ needs now is experience.
The woods is full of truly great college QBs. And the DB’s in the pros are a hell of a lot better, quicker and the windows are not only much smaller but they close very quickly.
JJ may turn out to be great but college ball is just that. Like pitching in the minors versus the major leagues. Light years difference.
A tight window is a tight window. If you can make the throw, you can make the throw.
Really? The plate is the same size in the minors as it is in the majors.
You’re right, you convinced me he sucks.
No he doesn’t at all. It’s just an unknown that’s all.
When I played in the backyard with the neighborhood gang, I would read the defense, wave at the receiver to run a post and hit him on the fly.
So I know that this play is just a rinky dink, no nothing, easy peasy thing to do Bow.
Nothing to see here.
He’s so good at throwing the ball he has a 58% completion percentage, and KOC barely has him throw it at all.
Timberwolves start the season on the road in Portland tomorrow night. I don’t think I have ever been this excited for the NBA season to start. Well, since the 90’s Bulls era.
#hockeysux
Yeah, they should be right in the thick of things again this year, but the western conference hasn’t gotten any easier.
You should get tickets and hang out with Antifa and other protesters.
Good memories for you.
I guess I could hang out with the National Guard.
That too….

Twins requirements for new Manager:
Cheap and inexperienced
Cheap and out of touch with the game
Cheap and already a known quantity that is bad at managing
Note the common denominator.
Sounds like my baseball resume’
Hopefully the Eagles/Giants game is on in my area this weekend. It will be interesting to see if the Giants use Flores’ strategy for the tush push.
If JJ isn’t ready to play this week, I hope we go with Mad Max Brosmer. At least it might be entertaining.
Is he any good? Haven’t seen him play and never heard of him.
He did good in the preseason. He is the Brosmergoat.
Hopefully then the Chargers will oblige and play their 3rd and 4th stringers.
If I remember correctly, he did fairly well against the starters in the last pre-season game.
Maybe we will find out if he is a viable back up, so we don’t have to go get a washed up veteran in the off season.
I like that plan!
Tired of the recycled vets
Who knows, maybe he will be a viable starter and we can trade JJ in the off season.
when on earth is A Jones Sr coming back? goodness gracious. I’d have been back by now. I have been back!
I believe he is still on IR and eligible to return yet. I think his earliest return is this week though.
Pretty sure the IR rules say he couldn’t come back yet. That may expire soon though.
Week 10 I believe.
Ask and ye shall receive
I have him on my other fantasy team.
He will probably last 2 or 3 games tops.
i wonder how many corners would have bit on the AJ Brown double move on Rodgers to basically end the game….
I bet a lot of them. does that make the corner bad, the double move good, or both or none.
Depends on how good they are and if they were in the correct position to start the play.
Yes
The double move was a brilliant call and I was kind of shocked that Flores brought the farm on that play – thought for sure he’d bring pressure but not zero blitz, as it would be susceptible to that very thing.
Watched the game with my dad and I told him right before the snap if the Vikes sell out here we likely get burned.
And then we did. And we did.
Can’t hold nothing back.
Bad call by the DC!
I would say risky call, not bad call. We were already behind so we needed to pull out all of the stops to try and get the ball back.
If we had the lead at that point I would agree it was a bad call.
I’d also say risky – I expected he’d bring pressure, just thought it wouldn’t be a zero blitz. Figured something a bit more exotic with a bit more coverage on the back end, maybe roll a safety to Browns side as in that situation I think that’s who Hurts wanted all along. Tough call as Smith burned us all game too.
Hindsight and all that, just hated the result. That was a winnable game. Too many mistakes – both sides of the ball.
I agree, and I think that’s why it leaves a nasty aftertaste. We not only could have won that game, we should have won that game.
Eagles don’t scare me, they played a really good game and barely beat us with all of the mistakes we made.
Same. Honestly still believe it’s wide open. Detroit looked good last night but stymied against an FTP team that lost to Cleveland and struggled to beat a hobbled Arizona team. Injuries have ravaged teams, teams not playing to expectations (including us)
it’s still wide open.
The Lions d looks dangerous. Hutch is an animal and their DBs are really good.
Looked good last night. Agree on Hutchinson. DB’s got pretty banged up last night – could be an issue. Lots of Buccaneers recovers open last night – Baker was high and off all night, throwing hospital balls.
Agree. It is still wide open but we have to get our act together. Eagles are as good as anybody and if we can play with them, not our best either, we can play with anybody.
Lions and rams are nfc cream of the crop right now imo.
Look at it this way. Brown is a big strong WR and our DB is how big. We’re playing man and have our DB 10 yards off the LOC. There is no help inside or out.
Because of the size difference and the depth we were playing. even if they ran the quick slant (not the fake an d go) they’ll still get the first down. And pressure won’t stop that throw either.
If you want to pressure rush five, play six in coverage and give both of our CB’s deep help. They can then sit on short routes and help over the top.
And ever if a guy double moves and gets open deep it will take a lot lolnger to develop and the rush has a chance.
You could also say, rush three and have 8 out in coverage.
Would not have hated that either.
all hindsight of course.
You could but I’d hate that against the Eagles. Rush would not get there, Hurts would hold the ball a long time, everyone drifts deep and then he would just run foe the first down.
You need enough pressure to keep him honest
My take as well – bring 5, maybe 6 if theres a spy/blitz on Hurts with decent depth at the sticks pre-snap. Drop 6 into coverage.
I think Thursday nights game will be a good matchup between Jim Harbaugh and KOC. Harbaugh (like his brother) understands that in general, a strong running game, coupled with a good defense, equals wins in football games. He won a National Championship in Michigan with that formula. The Chargers average 4.9 yards a carry running the ball. I think they’ll try to grind out a win on the ground.
Just my opinion.
Sounds more like a good matchup between Jim Harbaugh and Coach Flo.
Yeah it will be a true test of our rushing defense for sure. Vikes did alright with that on Sunday. Just need the passing defense to not give up the big plays.
As we saw last week, we can go all out to stop the run, and succeed, but it leaves us very vulnerable on the back end.
The problem is their defense isn’t very good and they end up behind the sticks a lot. They run the ball well, but the game ends up pushing them to throw it more than they want and Herby has seemed to get good at throwing interceptions at inopportune moments. Harry pick six incoming.
Their defense isn’t very good – glad to hear that. Isn’t like our offense lights it up that much.
They’re 12th in the league in total defense, and 8th in passing defense.
They’re allowing over 23 points a game this year though, which isn’t good.
BTW, Herbert is leading the league in passing yards, and has 13 TD’s and 6 interceptions. He’s a damn good QB.
Herbert is good and while he has a lot of yards, what I’ve watched is the interceptions he is throwing have been at the worst times, not just randomly in the first quarter. I think he’s very good, I just don’t think he’s in the same league as Mahomes, Jackson, Allen. Their defense has not been good. They only beat the Dolphins by 2, got destroyed by the Commies, Indy blew them out, and in the KC game, they basically did nothing until the 4th quarter. They are a very beatable team, which inevitably means the Vikings will lose by 20.
K
I can already hear the announcers on the next game.
“And here comes the exotic Flores look. He’s really got one of the most formidable schemes in the league. It’s a nightmare for QBs…”
Aaaaaaand Herbert proceeds to throw for 400 yards and four TDs…
When you have one of the most critical plays of the game – 3rd and long with the game on the line – and you put your rather lackluster (trying to be kind) corners in man coverage against top notch receivers, it is indeed “exotic.” And the result speaks for itself.
That’s the tough part. He didn’t blitz on 3rd and 13 and Hurts scrambled from pressure and found Brown after initial good coverage.
So he dials up the blitz on a key 3rd and long, and his CB fails in man coverage.
Simply, our corners aren’t good enough for man and Brown “won” the route in about one second. Hurtz just had lob the ball into the air. Even a zero blitz wouldn’t have worked. because our back got beat so quickly.
I thought Rodgers had been having a good year. Was it just a bad game from him?
Maybe, I’m not sure. Now, on that play, he bit on a simple stop (slant) and go move. Now, he screwed up, but my big problem is the defensive scheme on the play. It allowed them to beat us in such a simple way.
I believe Hurts threw for like 320 yards overall but over 300 went to two receivers. I would have doubled both of those guys on that play. They may beat that, but they are going to to go somewhere else to do it.
And I believe Hurts is not usually good on deep balls, correct?
As I recall, Hurts doesn’t throw all that well from the pocket, but better while on the run. So try ing to flush hime didn’t make a lot of sense to me.
That last throw, our DB was beaten so badly, he just threw up “punt” giving the receiver all the time in the world to get it. Didn’t even have to be a good throw.
He had a ‘scoop and score’ and a ‘pick six’ in the same half.
He has been decent this year outside of that great game.
He was beat like a drum in this last game but I believe that is a combo of ‘not good’ D scheme and ‘pretty good’ poopeater scheme/WR play and ‘less than good’ CB play.
Yeah this one was rough. Hopefully he bounces back. All the other games he has seemingly had tight coverage even on completions his way.
I am going to try to be less controversial today, but that means everyone else has to do their part to keep the comment count up.
300 comments was pretty impressive yesterday.
You did a good job.
Take your justly deserved rest.
I guess if you want the job done right, you have to do it yourself.
FTP!
Effffffffff
Teeeeeeeeeeee
Peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
FTP!
🔨🔨🔨
Well said.
Don’t sugar coat it, tells us how you really feel.
We need a Traditional FTP to start off the thread.
I hear rumors of a FTP in the Mythical Words Up Top but of course those rumors cannot be confirmed.
I still think he might play this week, but we’ll see.
So you are telling me that guy got taken up into heaven and he called God “the big man”???
“Tell me what to do tell me how tl serve you”
Um buddy, read the Bible, it tells you to go out and make disciples of men….
You got called up into heaven and were allowed to view heaven and you DONT know what you are supposed to do??
Get outta hereeeeeee
Also go JJ!!
Is he talking about himself or about Paul?
3 -4 Vikings. How about 4 -3 Vikings going to play the Lions.
What is the most likely outcome?
A Chargers (Jim Harbaugh) team desperate for a win.
or an average QB & wounded team on the road?
Vikings likely get smacked down this week.
Unfortunate Truth.
But as always, ‘Hope for the best but expect the worst’.
Vikings are desperate for a win as well.
Feels like a Lion (Chargers) getting ready to eat a wounded deer (Vikings)
Is that how Chargers fans feel about their team, too? (wounded deer)
They took a pretty big beat down.
Perhaps – but the game hasn’t been played yet so why think the worst. As Ronald Reagan used to say there must be a pony in here somewhere.
I think the Vikings could win, but I’m not going to like actually pick them or anything. Those west coast games are always weird, too.
I feel the same way about this game. It’s bullshit that the league sends us across the country on a short week, and the chargers played a home game on Sunday.
I think the Chargers are a lot of bark and not a lot of bite right now. And if JJ starts, do you think Harbaugh will make his boy look bad?
Nobody knows McCarthy better than Harbaugh. I think he knows exactly what he can, and cannot do.
That’s why you play chess instead of checkers and start Brosmergoat.
Or just run straight Wild Cat with Mason the whole game.
You can throw in some Cam Akers here and there. All they do is score touchdowns from the QB spot.
What does this guy know about NFL football? I’d rather get the opinion of somebody who played high school QB before the invention of the forward pass.
2nd rate hack/beta cuck – probably five
Sucks
Kodiak
Also, we don’t have time. The Vikings are in win now mode. If we wait for the sophomore to learn how to play in the NFL, we will miss our window.
I think the Vikes could win Thursday night. I like Herbert, but he can flounder.
Today I was reminded this song existed. I think I heard it once in the 1980s and never again, but it comes back to the old bean like it was yesterday…
an oldie but a goodie from back in the day.
What an annoying voice.
It didn’t bother me much back in the day, couldn’t listen to all of it just now.
Another “better” one, a little early.
Surly – where you going to in Florida? Weather is great down here right now, good time to visit.
I don’t know if it was KOC’s coaching or not, but Sam Darnold has turned into a very good QB. Made me wonder what our record would be if he was still here.
Flying into Sarasota and heading to Venice. Back on Sunday. Weather does look amazing.
Sam has played well, but still tried to give the game away last night.
The dream is a rookie QB that pans out vs recycled vets. Daniel Jones looks much better this season than Sam does imo. He handles pressure much better.
The Gulf side water is really beautiful and the beaches are terrific. Have. great time. Actually think both Sam and Daniel are doing well – a feather in KOC’s hat.
Doesn’t Jones doing well mean a better comp pick for the Vikings?
Sorry, I don’t understand those comp picks and how they work. Couple of the experts here will know better.
It is based on the size of the contract.
So if he meets some incentives, like % of games played for example, it could increase the amount of the contract and therefore improve our Comp Pick.
At least that is how I understand it.
I would agree on this comment, but I am usually wrong.
‘I am usually wrong’
Me too, but if I let that stop me from commenting I would never post anything.
I’ve read both, the contract has nothing to do with comp picks, but I’ve also read it does. No one knows, I think Goodell is trying to be sneaky.
We got the top comp pick this last draft due to KCs huge contract from Atlanta.
I have heard we will get a top comp pick in the next years draft due to Sam’s contract from Seattle.
Contracts are most defiantly a consideration in the Comp Pick calculations.
Pretty sure it’s a contract value for and against. I think Jones has incentives for playing and starting that will up his contract value, thereby upping the comp pick. Darnold’s is pretty well set. The picks you would get from guys getting signed by other teams are offset by guys you sign in free agency, but the Vikings are still a net positive, especially with Darnold and Jones. Not bad to get a pick for Jones, possibly a 3rd or 4th, considering they gave up nothing to get him. The Giants were dumb dumb on that one.
Unfortunately, other teams reap the fruits of KOC’s excellent work with those 2QBs. While Wentz tries to survive behind our doomed OLine and JJ tries to become healthy enough to finally play more than 2 games in a row before being injured again.
The life of a Vikings fan…
Sam Darnold wasn’t that outstanding in his first two games last year either, which some people seem to forget.
Game 1:
19-24 for 208 yards, 2 TDs and 1 Int
Game 2:
17-26 for 268 yards (97 to Jets on one throw), 2 TDs and 1 Int
Just for further reference, Game 3:
17:28 for 181 yards, 4 TDs and 0 Int
I don’t remember this game, I was probably hunting. How the hell did he throw 4 TDs and only have 181 yards?
I’ll take that.
Game 4 was @ FTP. Nailor muffed a punt before halftime and Vikes damn near blew a huge lead.
I know a Colts fan, and Daniel Jones is making him VERY happy. He still has doubts, but I told him that he has the power of the Vikings curses behind him. Jones and Darnold are guaranteed one playoff win this year, just to make Vikings fans feel bad.
I am enjoying watching most of the former QBs have success.
Bodes well for Brosmer and JJ.
