Vikings Discussion and Random Thoughts
Still no contract extension for Kwesi. I do feel that he is doing a very good job at everything except the draft so far. He got the team out from under some bad contracts and has turned around the roster in a good way. I hated the “competitive rebuild” lingo when I heard it, since I want the team to win NOW. Still, he has done that. The team has been in the mix, and now has the QBOTF on the roster and on a rookie deal. Time to build the roster for sustained success. SKOL

New kickoff rule, and using tech to be more accurate with first downs. I am fine with these changes.
Our friend Case Keenum is a Bear. 3 million contract for 1 year to try and help Williams. Good for him, it is nice to see former Vikings QB’s that gave us some good effort get paid to be backups elsewhere. Not Kirko money though. Maybe he needs a better agent.
Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.
- Twitter sized version: Be cool to one another.
Didn’t go to the game, tired. Will hopefully come back again soon, Charlotte was nice, the little bit I saw, anyway.
I wanted to visit Charlotte after reading this book a few decades ago.
Maybe some day.
JR, are you watching Rickie Fowler? He shot 3 over yesterday, and was in 120th place. He’s seven under through 15 holes, and tied for 18th today.
Saw him some earlier.
Just started drinking early trying to forget there’s a stock market in this country. what a way to make a buck anyway (or lose one).
Don’t worry, it’s coming back.
BTW Rickie made a really bad bogey on 16, but knocked inside 7 feet for birdie on 17. Hopefully he can pour it in.
I rode in a Tesla for the first time today. On my Uber trip over here.
Pretty cool car.
I don’t think I’ll ever give up a V8.
Hope 80% of keyed Teslas belong to Dims.
Dems screwing over Dems – Priceless!
Can’t believe I’d ever say this, but thinking about buying one just to spite the woke crowd and support Musk. Have no idea what to do with it – just love big gas eaters.
Not worth buying one but thinking about buying stocks in Tesla.
I’m trying to not think about stocks in general right now. But your idea makes sense.
Well generally buying low is smart.
Waiting for the Market to finish reacting then Buy Baby Buy!

This is a surprisingly nice downtown area, very impressed.
I haven’t even been robbed yet.
Surprising as I believe they have a democrat mayor.
Democrat but not woke?
Must not be.
Neat place, it was too late to go in because they close in a half hour.
You on a business trip or i’ll do whatever the hell i want trip?
I was at the national SMART Recovery conference. Conference is over, I have time to go look around. I might go to a Hornets game tonight.
They are a bad team but if you got 1st class and can sleep on way home why not.
Fellow rednecks, is the NASCAR Hall of Fame worth visiting?
Neat
I had a puzzle of King Richard and THAT car at Daytona… completely wore it out… took years to even dare to miss a piece… LOVED IT!
If you are into dudes turning left.
I watch a few races depending on track but i doubt i’d go there.
Hell yeah.

Could be, saw it posted on FB. I hate those people.(view)

Don’t check out FB much. AI crap and non-factual is too much. I always enjoy a laugh. Why i come here!
I avoid bookface, too. I think we still advertise there.
Read Allen, Hargrave and Fries missed 35 out of 51 games last year. Just our luck we see long term IR from someone.
They were just resting…
Allen tore his bicep, came back and played the last…2 games of the year i believe. He’s not someone who gets hurt, here are the amount of games per year he has played the last 6 years: 16, 15, 16, 17, 16, 16 and in week 8 he tore his pec this past season. he’ll be fine
Fries has played 16 games and 17 games, and then 5 before breaking his leg, which is a fairly freak thing. He’ll be fine.
Javon Hargraves last 8 seasons before tearing his tricep: 15,16,16,16, 15, 16, 17, 16..
What do all of these players have in common? they are healthy individuals minus one injury that is not a normal injury…
Hope your right. Hargrave and Allen are 30+. Think Fries turned 27 today. I just cross my fingers.
i’m zero worried about Fries or Allen.
The tricep injury worries me A LITTLE, but also, it happened like 3 games into the season, so he’s going to be fully recovered
Oh great, Freeze says they will be FINE. We are fooked.
Yum
Nowww you’re eating like Kfey. Proud of you, looks fantastic. Just missing a nice glass of dry white.
No booze for me anymore exceeded my lifetime quota. I had a water instead.
I know I know, just being a smart ass
It would be good with a fine glass of wine.
There is also a lifetime amount of weight you can lift… apparently I have exceeded that limit
You eat more in a meal than me in 2 days.
That looks amazing
Ordered Shrimp & Grits, can’t wait.
That is my favorite. When I was in Charleston last spring I had it at least once a day.
Eating at Sea Level, downtown Charlotte
Appetizer
Yummy
I tried them at the all inclusive place we went to for our honeymoon. I didn’t care for them.
Just gotta put so much tobasco on them you can’t taste.
No way, you just let them slide down your gullet fresh and raw and enjoy the taste of the ocean.
these were yummy
I think I’m getting sick. I feel off and slightly chilled.
Maybe round infinity of Covid, which I kind of enjoy.
“Sorry everyone. I have COVID. I can’t help you or come to your functions. I can only watch TV, sleep and play video games. Got to flatten that curve.”
That sucks.
In related news, my (broken) ribs are actually feeling a little better the last 24 hours or so. I haven’t taken anything for the pain the last 72 hours, and was actually able to get some velocity throwing a ball for the dogs this morning.
I did have the urge to sneeze an hour ago, but stopped it cuz I’m not ready to willingly sneeze just yet.
I’ll be cleaning the engine bay on the Rivy tomorrow prepping for the new engine if you’re really bored. Haha
That actually sounds like fun.
I’ve never enjoyed cleaning. I’m pretty motivated for this cleaning though
Nice!
We’re working on a T&G backsplash in the kitchen, and I need to set two 16′ timbers for a shade sail this weekend.
Get better. Find something to binge watch. I usually go for a run if I feel myself getting sick, sometimes it’ll knock it out.
Looking for seafood for dinner, have it narrowed down to Sea Level, Fin & Fino, and Cajun Queen.
All of them look amazing.
We had some really good seafood on our cruise. Well, the ladies all did. I am not a big seafood fan really so I mostly stuck to beef and pork.
I LOVE seafood. Plus, there isn’t a restaurant that can beat the beef we have at home, so I eat seafood whenever I travel somewhere outside the middle of the country.
I was impressed with the food on Royal ships.
Disney was top shelf, but the Disney cruise is not worth twice the price as Royal.
My wife & son want to do a cruise, I have zero desire to be stuck on a boat with a bunch of blue hairs for a week straight.
Yeah, if you get stir crazy, the days at sea can be less than fun for you. I absolutely love the days at sea, even with motion sickness. Plenty to do if you want, there is a running track, and for me I can sit and stare at the ocean and do nothing. I run/walk enough to burn off the desserts.
The port days you would probably love. Plenty of excursions for the explorer types, and different foods to try.
Cruises are my favorite vacation. My son was 9 the fist time we did a cruise. We spent time in Disney World and then went on a cruise. I asked the family what vacation they would rather do. Wife and kids all said cruise over magic kingdom.
I will say, the only place overrun with blue hairs is the casino. Royal is in between the party environment of Carnival, and the old people with no kids cruises like Celebrity.
I’ll never do Disney World again. Universal was pretty fun, though. I would do that one again.
Our next vacation is Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, one of the biggest roller coaster parks in the country
Kiddo and I are both adrenaline junkies
You should consider a Royal Caribbean cruise.
The water park at their private island is legit. Super crazy water slides that are a blast.
There are also some decent water slides on board the ships, and sky dive simulators and zip lines and rock climbing. Plenty to do.
Uh oh, Royal Caribbean Group is headquartered in Liberia – I bet Liberia exports less into the US than cruise bucks going into Liberia. Ticket prices gonna soar!
Prices for everything are gonna soar. Except my pay, that will stay the same.
Huh, might try one some day. We have 15 days a year with Marriott vacation club, & it has cruise packagesso we can take a cruise anytime we want.
Hershey Park in PA is nice and the countryside is beautiful.
Oh yeah, we’ve seen YouTube videos of that one. That’s another possibility someday.
Depends of what cruise you take will depend on how many blue hairs. We were on Norwegian cruise line and there was a great variety of ages of people. There was a group of what looked like college age girls that must have been on spring break. They were all partying A LOT. We tended to stay away from the pool where all the party people were.
Come on now, you know none of those drunk girls were peeing in the pool.

Lots of things dropping. I have not and will not look at my 401K.
I can’t touch it for 25 years anyway so why worry about what it’s doing today.
I am less than 10 years out, but it will either rebound by then or we are all doomed.
DJIA down 2000 points. Barf.
Last two days double barf.
Gouge a little more and you will be back in the black.
We’re talking more than a year’s worth of gouging at this point. China’s not fooling around. So much for grain exports to China.
You are as positive about this as you were the election.
Figure you are about as right this time as well.
I did one smart thing. I moved my 401K last June to a stable/income preservation fund. New contributions are going to the targeted fund for 2035 retirement, so pretty conservative. Only down a bit this week.
June or July I can put it back in the Index fund.
Maybe.
It was overly and artificially inflated the last couple of years anyway. I just want to see home prices do the same thing now so I can buy some land.
Vikings Will Meet with Jonah Savaiinaea
Start off with a basic football fact: there’s no such thing as too much muscle up front.
Vikings Will Meet with Large Lineman who Can “Engulf” Defenders
As opposed to Bradbury, who was engulfed BY defenders.
I got upgraded to first class on my flight home. They’re lucky I quit drinking, or I’d torpedo their profit on that flight.
Congrats!
Funny, I fly first class all the time now and never have an alcoholic beverage. Plane makes an emergency landing you better believe I am going to have my wits about me to get out of the cabin.
I like being as close to the front as possible, that way I die quickly if we crash.
I’m not opposed.
Vikings Linked to Cake Topper for Brian Flores’ Defense
Either Ike Hilton or Ike Turner, either would work. Ike Turner is a bit old, though. He might be dead, too. Not sure.
Asante Samuel?
Ike Hilton, just PFF suggesting they go after him, nothing of actual substance.
Been wanting Mikey all FA period long.
Bloody Friday…
It’s all good! Buyer’s market! We’re growing bananas in North Dakota, baby!
I usually grow one in the morning, not sure why but that’s how it usually goes.
The Banana Belt! 😂
I’m out for a walk. Some dude just stopped and asked me for directions.
Happens to me all the time when I am a tourist. Probably because I look people in the eye and say hi while walking down the street in the big cities unlike your typical NYer type that would walk past someone choking on their own vomit.
I’m the same way.
I actually was able to help him, knew where the interchange was that he was looking for, went past it last night whilst I was out running & sweating.
I still haven’t found Paris.
Thanks for posting the thread, Surly! I zonked out last night before I posted it. I ran 5 miles in this humidity, I guess it knocked the shit out of me a little bit. I showered, went down and swam a little bit, came back to the room and turned on the TV, and the next thing I knew it was morning.
They have tickets 8 rows from the court for $72. The Hornets must suck, that’s less than we paid for nosebleed seats to the Wolves game.
I’m thinking of going to the game, but I’m taking the redeye flight in the morning and have to be up by 3 AM our time.
Go to the game.
Sleep on the plane.
What I’m thinking, too.
I did my first mock draft. I have no idea who any of these players are…
I don’t either.
Seems like a few really good players are better than a bunch of no-names with this current team.
Of course I know almost nothing about college players.
I am completely clueless on college players. Completely. The next Mahomes could be in this draft, and I’d have no idea to pick him if I had the chance.
I only have so much sports bandwidth.
Busts! (Sarcasm)

I can live with that!
I never did get an answer yesterday as to why Americans are cowards for tolerating TSA screening. Last I checked, they have all the control.
Perhaps reread yesterday’s followup posts.
What are you talking about? There was no mention of why Americans are cowards for not confronting the TSA. Just the Israeli thing whereby they profile passengers. Still have to go through rigorous screening even if you speak Hebrew and wear a yarmulke. Coward is a mighty big word to use for something like agreeing to undergo minimally invasive screening prior to boarding a flight. What’s next, am I a coward for not standing up to the MPs when I climb the fence to visit one of the nearby ICBM silos?
Can say I ever used the word ‘coward.’ I pointed out an alternative that could work.
And I don’t like just something that if you question a TSA agent, he can claim you are backtalking and have you arrested. And in that regard it doesn’t seem American to me.
Now, I don’t know what to do about it other than I fly as little as possible.
No, Brad used that word. He may have meant it in some other context. I for one am not afraid to, and certainly have, called my governor, congressman, senators on subjects near and dear to my heart. But calling them to complain about TSA would be like pissing in the wind.
I have flared up with TSA all to no avail. Had an agent yell at me in Charlotte to hurry up and put my (pants) belt on the (conveyor) belt. I did so and then got a stern talking to from another agent for putting an item on the conveyor belt that could get caught in the system, and when I tried to explain that there were no buckets available to place my belt in was told I should have waited for a bucket. Oh well. Now my best recourse is just kill them with kindness…when they say they have to pat near my groin I just smile and say I’m married, you know.
Agree, calling a congressman about TSA is like claiming you don’t care about national security.
Now, the Patriot Act as Edge mentioned below, I raised hell about that and in. fact spent a lot of money paying lobbyists to petition Congress to cut back many of the provisions FINCEN was implementing which were huge violations personal privacy. Still lost though.
My fix is just not to fly.
That may be more avoidance than ‘fixing’ but that is my reaction.
And if you do get by TSA you then have to deal with surly airline personnel. Customer service – a joke.
Well there seems to be jerks on both side.
Passengers acting like jerks, airline personnel acting like jerks and TSA acting like jerks.
Since I have not flown since just after 9-11 maybe it is just the media, news reports, social media, blogs and podcasts amplifying the narrative.
That’s truly the only solution, but chances are sooner or later you are going to need to fly somewhere.
Flew to my sons wedding, have avoided it otherwise. And since I am retired I don’t NEED to fly anywhere. Given enough time The Teacher and I can drive wherever we want to stateside.
Because they don’t have to gumption to ever vote outside their party lines to get shit done. Step 1. Every American take a hard line against getting big money out of politics, make that the one 1 issue reason for voting. Are some of them going to just say it and not do it? Of course that will be most. They get 1 term then, if they don’t get it done, get someone else in there.
This is the real way our rights are getting violated. When was the TSA implemented… hmmm?… It was under Bush backed by 9/11 Patriot Act scare tactics. Republicans supported it, Dems opposed it. Then these infringements on our freedoms were expanded by Obama, all of the sudden Republicans were against it and Dems for it… SHOCKING!
While these things were being passed into law, you could say Republican voters were against the Patriot Act or Dems could say they were against it’s expansion but when the rubber meets the road the people that passed those bills were still overwhemingly voted for again by the constituents. Cowards, too scared to ever vote outside their party lines to get shit done!
Good enough answer?
That’s about half right. TSA is all on Bush as well as the misuse of the Patriot Act. And as a conservative who lived in DC at the time, I voice my objections and caught a lot of shit for it. Bush and Chaney and the whole lot are not very high on my list and I have no problem voicing that opinion.
Bush/Cheney are pieces of shit who should be hung for treason. I’ve said this before and I mean it 100%, there is zero difference between the Bushes and Clintons.
Fake Texas Rancher MOFOs. Bushes from like Connecticut or something and he put on his “Well howdy yall, im a simple Hank Hill like rancher from Texas”
I voted for them.
My parents did too, and If I was old enough at the time I would have as well. Even grade school me bought into the pro American, Toby Keith lets go bomb the middle east schtick , but I should get a pass for being 8-10 years old lol
We were duped, lesson learned.
Lifer was right.
Okay lets not go that far, pump the breaks.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
That’s a good answer. Not sure in my opinion that they meet the definition of a coward, no candidate is running on a single item, nor does their platform differ from their opponents on but a single item, and you’ll never get me (a lawful immigrant and citizen) to understand why illegal migrants are entitled to due process and legal representation and free stuff and free health care and no vaccination requirements and on and on and on…
Amen
My wife and I have the TSA pre-check. While we don’t fly a lot, we never seem to have any TSA issues. No pat downs, etc. I was pulled out of line randomly on our last trip, but all I had to do was walk through the other machine where you stand with your hands up while the machine does a quick scan. I still beat my backpack through the line. Like all jobs, there are pleasant people and grumpy jerks. If you are going to work for the TSA, you really need to be a people person. Unfortunately, I don’t think that is a part of the application process.
We also have pre-check, but I almost universally get patted down. I will say my bag has never been detained, so it is always waiting for me when I get done with the hand job.
You must be a handsome man. Everyone wants a piece of you.
Unfortunately it is never some sun kissed Cali blonde girl fresh out of college.
I don’t know why not. You would think that those Cali blondes would be all over a quality government job.
Usually some slob that hasn’t showered in a month.
I tried that, it keeps getting denied/held-up for some reason, they’ve never told me why. I’ve tried it twice now, hasn’t gone through. Really odd, I’m not a felon, & I’m a veteran, you’d think it would be simple.
I got fingerprinted and photographed so many times during the process of getting my green card and subsequent citizenship that I would have to be a moran to ever try to get away with committing a crime.
Have you got a CCP? If you have one of those, seems like TSA pre-check would be a breeze.
I just electronically applied to renew my passport, now I’m stuck in country until they finish that up. Too bad, I was planning on driving up to Regina proudly displaying my American patriotism and living high on the hog spending copious US dollars and laughing at their peso like monetary system.
No CCP yet, not really necessary since I can carry in my vehicle legally, and it’s legal to carry while I’m hiking/camping provided I have it in a holster, which I always do.
I will likely get my CCP at some point. Not sure why the TSA dislikes me. Hopefully the gov cuts the TSA completely.
Haha good luck with that.
They changed the law, you can carry concealed here without a permit, but I still renew my permit every four years.
Driving through Minnesota in the RV, we stopped in St. Cloud and I ran in to get lunch at McDonald’s, realized I was carrying. Eek. No reciprocity there. I’d probably be paraded around like a terrorist by Walz et al if I had been nabbed.
I keep mine in a biometrically locked safe while in the car. Can still retrieve it in a second or two, but it’s legal. Been pulled over many times in both ND and also once in SD, immediately tell the SS that I have a weapon, never had an issue.
Yeah, that’s where I usually keep mine, but in the RV the safe is kept under the bed, the rear wheel well where the power inverter lives. So I typically keep it on myself while driving and then stick it up on a magnet doodad above my head at night.
Because we’ve become a bunch of pussies. I’m referring to the people who think it’s okay to give up our liberties & freedom. I’m not talking all Americans, just the pansies.
It’s been 30 days. How is the trade war going?
The trade war has been going on for decades. This is just the first time we’re fighting back.
Exactly.
So it’s going well? We must be winning!
How’s the patient feel right after knee replacement surgery?
Hurts like hell.
Just hope people don’t mind a recession.
Windsor auto plants laid off thousands yesterday. You can bet those workers aren’t going to be fans of recreating or shopping in Michigan. Goes on long enough and half of those workers won’t come back. I guess eventually all of the unskilled and skilled workers can be replaced by Americans or robots. @At least we have record unemployment@
Don’t worry, people in this country live greatly in the present. This is something for LONG term that needed to be done. But there is for real pretty big short term pain.
This isn’t the WWll crowd, people won’t stand for the pain long at all.
Rub a little dirt on it.
Recession was coming regardless, economy been falsely propped up by money printing for decades. Can’t continue, the gov credit cards are maxed out.
Depends how many opiates they’re on.
Short term pain for long term gain.
If tariffs are bad for the country imposing them, then why does almost every country in the world have tariffs on US products 3 times higher than the US imposes on them?
shhhhhhhh its only wrong of the US to do it, not for every other country. don’t you know that??
Yes imposing tariffs at half the rate the other country is imposing on US goods makes the US the bad guys. Here’s a hint, if you don’t want us to tariff your stuff, then stop tariffing the crap out of ours.
I never thought I would say this, but orange man sayeth, must be true!
This is so laughable. I’m gonna love seeing how they dig their way out of this one.
Where are you getting your tariff figures from?
You understand that the “rates” that DT paraded on the WH lawn are just the trade deficits divided by the exports to the US of each country listed. In other words they are stating that countries that sell more products to the US than they buy from the US achieve this by tariffs. Yup yup yup. Poor Lesotho, they export diamonds to the US but by next to nothing from the US, so they apparently have a 90% tariff. Oh and then the countries that grow bananas, I guess the US consumer should be paying the equivalent of what it would cost to grow the bananas in the US. I hear North Dakota has rich soil in the eastern part of the state, great banana growing region I bet. The funniest thing is we are supposed to believe this, kinda like we were supposed to believe Biden was the smartest man on the planet.
This is literally hundreds of billions of trade screeching to a halt. The US dollar is in free fall and the markets are plummeting.
Time for a trip to Sam’s club to load up on food.
Better load up on cheap shirts too, because they won’t last.
Looks like it is going to be a quiet Friday. Which is fine as The Teacher and I have to go run some errands this afternoon. I might well turn in to an early Lenten Friday Dinner out if we can find a decent vegetarian option.
Vegetarian? That’s the food that my food eats.
Pigs are the most magical animals on the planet. They turn grains and slop into bacon.
Truth
Good for Case.
I hope first down tech also speeds the game up a bit.
Not much else happening. Reviewed Tourist Trap.
You should review every movie. Most other movie reviewers have the same IQ as the producers you mentioned.
I was looking in my folder the other day, and I have done almost 200 movie reviews to this point. I don’t even remember doing most of them!
My guess is that it slows down the game.
Remember the NoteCard game?
There will be delays due to questioning if the tech is accurate or not.
And if the home team is effecting the tech to their advantage.
We need a female commissioner. That will fix things!
Yeah, then they can call that facemask on Darnold from last year if the Vikings start to lose a game to the Rams.
Ever see The Devil’s Rejects?
I did see that…sort of. I had it on TV while working out once.
It’s not bad, I’ve seen much worse.
It’s finally Friday!!!
