Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
There are three games to watch today, and I am about to put the turkey in the smoker. I expect to eat a bit too much, have a few winter beers, and take a nap while watching some football. I am fine with the home teams winning the early and late game, but the Cowboys need to lose. Just because.
I have not watched the Thanksgiving Parade in years, and I am not planning on it today. Used to be one of the highlights for the kids. That and putting up Christmas decorations.
FTP! and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! Even Kwesi, the guy that picked the wrong QB. Again.

- Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. We always go to our cousins’ house. They are terrific cooks so meal is always awesome. I was a little down because daughter and grands went to Dallas, but nice surprise that my favorite nephew and his wife came (they live about 2 hours away). Football today has been a little disappointing, so many starters not playing due to injury.
We had a good T-Day, glad yours was good.
Football was disappointing but then this NFL season has been pretty bad for Vikings fans so that makes the rest of it easier to ignore.
Yes, obviously the Vikings season has been a major disappointment, made worse by worry about McCarthy’s future. I have some other teams I like, so when they do well, or at least the teams I hate lose, it helps. This year, not so much.
The female National Guardsman who was shot in DC has passed away.
Tragic for her family, her unit, and the nation IMHO.
Brave young lady who volunteered to serve has paid the ultimate price.

I have no words. Sigh.
The only words that I find worthy are actually prayers.
Hail, Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
Tragic.
I managed to stop eating before I reached ‘food coma’, Full but not uncomfortably so.
Bacon wrapped turkey went very well. The Teacher said ‘do that again next year’.
Giving it it a rest before clean up and leftover storage.
Pie in a few hours and several days of leftovers.
And then turkey enchiladas. #yum
FTP, but they win with an assist from the refs. Again.
Smoked turkey turned out really good.
Going to walk the dogs, then take a nap while watching the Chefs/Cowpies second half.
I am full…..
Unreal how much help they get every game.
Also unreal how many lucky bounces they get too.
Romo sucks
Yep
So the FTPs got out of that 4th and 1 at the 2 yard line movement penalty because why?
Because they called a TO? Because they are FTP??? Because the NFL wants them to win???
After that TD the next time down they fumble inside the 5 but it bounces back to a FTP player and on a 3 and goal incomplete they get another chance on a D penalty.
Proving the point that it is better to be lucky than good.
Of course at the moment we are neither. #sad
I hope Freeze made it out to Montana, the weather here was atrocious on Tuesday.
I think he said he made the drive early due to weather concerns.
He posted the other day (Monday?) that he made a mad dash to Montana and arrived at 1am.
Good, glad he left early. The roads were NOT good on Tuesday.
He did. We tried to meet up yesterday but our plans were foiled. Maybe Friday evening.
Hope you guys meet up!
Get a room.
I thought he said he preferred to meet up behind the 7-11.
This one is good, too. I’ve been in the hot tub for an hour, I should probably go in soon.
Ok, Turkey is in the oven.
I went with the Bacon Wrapped option this year.
Can’t wait!!

That sounds awesome. I usually put one on the smoker, we are doing it a different way this year. I’ll smoke one one of these weekends.
My smoking efforts have been ‘not good’ in the past.
Not willing to risk T-Day on it until I upgrade my equipment.
In honor of Thanksgiving I added a pound of ground turkey to my chili recipe, it didn’t really add anything but at least I’m being “festive”
I was going to switch my pick to Green Bay, but I was too late. I don’t want them to win, but I have a feeling they’re going to.
Agreed the Loins is the ‘Lesser Of Two Evils’ here.
And for me, the more I want a team to win the worse their odds of winning are.
I was going to weigh in on the alcohol discussion below….
then I got stoned and forgot…..
Happy Thanksgiving yall…..
The Goose looks hungry and ready to go.
Happy Thanksgiving to all! What is with all these grown ass men on TV these days that are obviously full of makeup when they go on the air? Kurt Warner and Steve Marriucci almost look fake.
I know, it’s creepy.
I like my imperfections (thankfully, because I have numerous imperfections). I have lots of scars, that’s the reason I don’t have tattoos, I have scars instead, great stories to go along with most of them too.
I say fuck it, bring back Big Dick Nick, at least he wasn’t boring
We are allowed to throw the ball and catch it?
Mullins was pretty good if you didn’t include the interceptions.
Damn right.
That looks like our offense is supposed to be.
Throw the ball down the field and catch it.
Is Mullens available?
Google says he is on the Jags.
He might be gotten on the cheap though.
I’d say go for it. What do we have to lose.
I’m curious to see how Brosmer performs. The team only needs adequate play from the QB position. With that, they can win games. They’ve been getting close to winning with a QB who is playing like doo doo.
Yeah, might throw a pick or 4, but will also throw for 300+ and some tds at least it was entertaining
‘ throw for 300+’
or 400 a time or two.

Gotta get going, but I’ll leave you with this… the history of Thanksgiving according to Archie Bunker.
Good interview with Wim Hof on Diary of a CEO.
Thanks Surly! Was just getting on to post the thread, but saw that you got it up already (heh heh).
I added a couple links and a picture up top.
Happy Thanksgiving! SKOL!
FTP!
Amen!
Nice… Happy Thanksgiving!
Interesting commentary from Kurt Warner on McCarthy…
Watched that last night, really good analysis.
Yep… I like Warner… he does a good job talking about playing the position.
Watched some of KOC’s presser yesterday. Damn, the guy sounds little defeated.
He doesn’t have the same pep in his step that he usually has.
Interesting.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Hope you all have a great day.

And the Eagles vs Cowboys is a meteor game. Same with the Lions vs the Packers, actually.
‘Eagles vs Cowboys’
Cowboys are playing the Chiefs today, still 2 Meteor Games.
Cinny/Ravens should be decent with Baby Goat due back.
Man, that was bad… laughing… I’m a week behind…
And you’ve been telling us all this time you don’t drink!
NLNVF doesn’t drink?
I drink in moderation… a glass of wine here, a gin and tonic there… maybe a Manhattan on occasion.
As expected.
All things in moderation, including moderation.
I miss having a glass of wine with a good meal, and occasionally it would be nice to have a glass of bourbon at night. However, once you become a pickle, you can’t be a cucumber again, so I had to give it up.
I’m thankful I never experienced alcohol abuse issues. It has ruined a lot of good people. Thankful you beat it. Something to carry with us today.
I fell in love with booze the first time I tried it. 13 years old, LOVED it from day one. I had a LOT of crazy times, lots of crazy memories (or lack thereof). I’m glad I lived through it all, and it helped make me who I am today. No regrets, just gratitude that I’m still alive somehow.
I have heard/read about the joys of a high quality ‘adult beverage’ and have enjoyed smelling a good cigar.
Not willing to go thru the ‘break in period’ to partake in either of them however.
I still enjoy a good cigar occasionally.
Growing up with a mean drunk/smoker soured me on both of those things.
A different path than yours but not one I regret.
I was the opposite of a mean drunk, was generally happy and tried to keep the peace. I hated fighting, the adrenaline screwed up my buzz.
He wasn’t a violent drunk but he was mean, to his family at least.
I was a lot like that. And during my Army days really hit it hard.
But then life, job, kids sort of almost made it impossible to over indulge. Just lucky I guess as “Life” sort of grew me out of it.
So now I can still have one or two once in a while.
Sad that I made this misstep in a totally sober state… grin.
If that is the biggest mistake you make today it will be a very good day for you. #grin
In today’s games, I gotta root for the Lions and the Cowboys. F the Packers and F the Chiefs!
Agreed.
Although if the Loins and the Cowpies lose I would mind too much.
Although Jim Marshall and Chuck Foreman were not named finalist for the HOF Kevin Williams was a ‘semifinalist’.
Not sure ‘finalists’ were named at the same times as ‘semifinalist’ but then the NFL does lots of ‘dumb stuff’.
Jim Marshall and Chuck Foreman….both need to be voted into the HoF. Great players!
SKOL!
Kevin Williams as well
amen to that!
Happy Thanksgiving.
And as always FTP.
And Happy Thanksgiving to you and everyone else here.
We are indeed a fortunate people to live in America.
Now, hope the Cowboys lose – just hate all those takes of Jerry Jones in the owners box.
I am rooting for the Meteor in the FTP-Loins Game.
Indeed, we are very fortunate to live in the USA! Many thanks for that!
