Vikings Discussion and Random Thoughts
From what I’ve seen of rumors coming out of the NFL, wide receivers are going to be fairly cheap this year. There are a lot of very good wide receivers who are rumored to becoming released after the new league year begins. Basic economics tells us that when you increase supply without altering demand, equilibrium price will decrease. Too bad the same can’t be said for interior linemen. The Vikings always seem to be on the wrong side of these trends. Dang it.
In good news, I got a smoking deal on some old baseball & football cards yesterday. I got back to town early, stopped in to check a local pawn shop (I know the fellas there, good guys), and bought a couple thousand cards for $60. We got home and started looking through them, and found some pretty good cards, including a Ndamukong Suh rookie card. We haven’t looked through all of them yet, it’s a ton of fun. I think I have as much fun as my son does.
I’m also now Platinum on Ranked Reload on Fortnite. My name is Skoloholics on Fortnite. If you play against me, I WILL kill you. Just kiddin’, I do have a lot of fun on there, though. My kiddo & his friends play together on there a lot. They think I’m cool.

I cook sometimes, I actually enjoy cooking. I was a bachelor until I was 36, plus I learned to cook at a young age. When I got into the army, I was shocked at how many guys didn’t know how to wash their own clothes or cook for themselves.

The Vikings defense in passing yards allowed, was 5th worst in the NFL with 4,114 yards against. Basically, that means allowing 242 passing yards per game. The defensive backfield was was amongst the worst in the league statistically. It might have been scheme to some extent, because the Vikings blitzed more than any team in the league, forcing DB’s to play soft zone a lot of the time. The defense finished 5th in the NFL with just 19.5 points allowed per game though, so in the end, points allowed is the ultimate measuring stick. I would still like to see an improvement in the defensive backfield this year.
i have to imagine defensive backfield improves if we can get more pressure, especially pressure on our blitzes. i would love to see what our pressure rate on blitzes was vs the rest of the league. but i felt like we would send 1 or 2 extra players in and they wouldn’t make it past the line of scrimmage OFTEN.
I believe that a stut NT that can push up the middle would lessen the need for blitzes and reduce the pressure on the DBs.
At the least it will give Coach Flo more options.
Although I have seen reports that Flo prefers smaller more active DTs.
Some of that has to do with being ahead most of the year. Teams pass more when they’re behind.

KC had a guaranteed contract and it did not all count against the cap the first year.
You have your base salary, and then you have the other bonuses and stuff. Signing bonus is paid immediately, but allocated to the cap evenly over the life of the contract. The other bonuses & incentives are written into the contract.

Kupp is not a starter any more, especially not with us.

60 bucks for a couple thousand cards is pretty good. I buy a lot of them at auctions and recently got 1000 cards for 25 bucks, one of my better scores. They were in binders also, so pretty good condition. I got an Adrian Peterson rookie card in that haul. Also got 2 KOC rookie cards, I thought those were kinda cool considering he’s our coach now.
I look for them anytime I go somewhere, which is almost daily.
Weird, the city of Jamestown is pretty big and they don’t have a pawnshop.
Those binders were the cards I bought the other day. The ones I bought yesterday were the three boxes. The two black boxes and the one white box.
Fun stuff, takes time, I still have hundreds, maybe thousands, I haven’t even looked at yet. I have a bad habit of keeping buying, but then set aside along with all of my other auction buys throughout the last 10 years.
It’s something that brings me joy, and also something my son and I can do together. I buy them any chance I get.
I’ve had far worse habits that cost me a lot more

I’m going to Edgeley today. Middle of nowhere again, perfect day.
I have four stops to make. Jamestown, Edgeley, Wishek, and Braddock. I have to break into the house in Edgeley, I wonder what I’ll find. Maybe another doll.
You’re down in my neck of the woods. Co-oped with Wishek in sports. Played basketball and baseball all over that area.
I’m down here twice a month, I manage a few properties in the area. The one in Edgeley is a new one for me, I’ll have to break in, change locks, winterize, etc.
And of course, scope out fishing spots, that’s the most important part.
Fishing has been awful down there all winter. No steady bite, just random, and gotta be lucky. Have fun in Edgeley. Haven’t been through there in a while.

My parents had a house in Ashley – we fished all around Ashley, Wishek, Lehr.
I have a binder of lakes in that area with (probably outdated) fishing data.
They sold the house to a travelling MD, who now rents it out to fishermen – my cousin still takes 2 trips and stays there. I’ll forward you some of the pictures from their trip 2 weeks ago.
Beaver Lake State park near Napoleon has pretty good pike fishing in the summer. I haven’t fished it in the winter time.

I am just wondering if there is more to the fact Kwesi has not been extended. Could the Wilfs be looking at making KOC a Coach/GM.
I’m leaning more towards the fact that he’s been unable to hit on anything better for the IOL in FA or draft thus far.
Given that it usually takes 2-3 years for a draftee to make waves on the IOL they should have been doing more to fill those positions 2 years ago.
He’s been good at free agency, not so much at drafting. I’m guessing this is a make or break draft for him.
Too bad he’s only got 4 darts to throw at the target.
Hopefully he can turn the 1 in to a couple of 2s, unlike Wryck who would turn it into 5 7s
