Minnesota Vikings Discussion and Random Thoughts
Sorry this was late, I finished my first half inspections yesterday (which were all due yesterday), it was a whirlwind after my trip to Charlotte interupted my normal first-half routine. Hey, they have another word for almost late, it’s called “on time”. Anyway, here we go.
Remember Starvin’ Marvin? That cat I found in that abandoned property? He’s gotten big.

Aaron Rodgers still hasn’t signed, and the sporting press is still having an aneurysm. I really don’t care, I think he’s holding out hope that the Vikings sign him, I think he really thinks he has a shot at another ring with Minnesota this year. I don’t see it happening, but I think HE sees it happening.

The NY Crimes looks at the top 10 QB prospects in the NFL draft.
Ashton Jeanty aims to be the next Saquon Barkley, per CBS Sports. Does that mean he wants to get drafted by a crappy team, only to get dumped to a good team? Interesting goal.
At NFL.com, Joe Flacco said there’s ‘no expectation’ on who will be the Browns starting QB. There’s every expectation that it won’t be DeShaun Watson.
CBS Sports predicts the first position drafted for each NFL team. Good exercise if every team’s GM is Rick Spielman.

I noticed socialist campaign of AOC and Bernie are jetting around country preaching anti oligarchy. Ever look in the mirror?
My faves of the day.
You may end up with a pawnshop.
I could see that happening.
Scored again.
400,000 more homeowners are behind on house payments than last month. That’s the ONE MONTH increase. Yikes.
Dumbasses keep increasing DTI (debt to income) threshold, they’re allowing people to get loans who have up to 43% DTI.
In other words, they’re giving loans to people who shouldn’t get them. This idea that everybody should own a home is absolutely stupid. Some people should not own a home.
I blame Ponder.
Should be much lower. Add unforeseen circumstances and you may be toast. Renting or ownership looks bad for many Americans. I blame sniffer.
They actually suspended DTI altogether for some borrowers. It’s criminal.
Message to Trump – fix the economy. Tariffs are a wonderful long term strategy. But in the short run, they will cause price increases and the every day voter will feel this.
And they will pay more for groceries and other home goods – and thus there will be more mortgage payment problems.
The mid terms are coming.
JR, the economy is fine. It’s getting better too. $4.2T in new business has already been garnered by Trump, with the tariff leverage. That’s real money and jobs for the country. What Trump is doing is fixing the long term prosperity of the Nation. Biden fucked this up so bad for four years. Trump has been “unfucking” it for less than a hundred days. You can build a house quickly without a foundation, and watch it fall, or you can build it the right way from the ground up.
BTW, we’re already making over $2B a DAY off tariffs.
Patience grasshopper. Trump is doing this country right for the first time since… well his last administration, actually.
ok, 4/17 mock.
game over. we win
drafted for the now and gained picks for the future. kwesi look out

Related to the great lineman Jackie Slater?
I love pawnshops, look what we just found.

My kid’s birthday is Saturday and he would absolutely love that. Just sayin…
My son was with me when we found it
Can you verify that?
Yep, it’s certified, they say.
How much?
They aren’t sure yet, they figured somewhere between $250 and $300. I’ll offer them $200 and hope to settle around $225.
I know there a probably not many around to read this being late in the afternoon, but I have to share a title of some sheet music I just ran across.
When My Shoes Wear Out from Walking I’ll Be On My Feet Again by Cal DeVoll. Copyright 1921.
That’s awesome…if you can share the lyrics since I am too lazy to look them up that would be great as well.
The sheet music is 5 pages, so it is longer than most. I’m too lazy to type it all.
It starts out:
You say I look disgusted, it’s just because I’m busted, my job is gone and I feel blue.
Quite the cheery tune.
Well if my history is correct – if you were unemployed in the roaring 20s it was your own laziness.
Um, excuse me it’s “underemployed” thank you.
The Freckle Song
Great play on words! Ha!
One of the all-time best. I remember hearing it on the Dr. Dimento Show.
That’s good stuff .
That reminds me, I need a new pair of running shoes. Mine are worn out.
My favorite song is “Take Your Tongue Out Of My Mouth Cause I’m Kissin You Goodbye”
Love it.

You know what would impress me with guys like this. Take their little gun and charge a squad of Marines with their 16’s locked and ready.
Gutless bastards shooting unarmed kids.

I was literally just about to hit the post button on this same story.
Tempting at $10 million. Very tempting.
Yeah, but he brings a lot of disruption and distraction with him wherever he goes.
If I was GM, I’d ask myself. one thing – putting the QB position aside, is the rest of this roster good enough to win a SB. If the answer is ‘yes’, then I’d go all in and get him.
I wouldn’t waste the SB ready roster on a QB that hasn’t been good since 2021 (his second-to-last season in EntitledTown). Add on the burden of the media circus plus the doosh factor and it adds up to (carry the one…)
When his achilles was fully healed, about the last month of the season, he played very well and not with a stellar cast around him.
He still has a very talented arm and seldom turns the ball over. That works really well with an elite group of WR’s and a stout defense.
He’s a head case but believe KOC can handle it.
Remember years ago when everyone said ‘well Marino will get a lot more chances to win a SB, he’s only a rookie.’ He never got back.
When you get your shot, take it! You may never have that shot again.
I was told it takes less than a year for an achilles to heal.
You and me maybe to jog a mile or something.
There is a noticeable difference between the first half of season and the last month of Rogers
season – he actually could move again.
I was told the guy that tore his a month and a half later was 100% before the start of the season.
Well I was told by my orthapedic surgeon, whom I have become far too familiar with to my liking, a full year and a half
Golf, jog, sure earlier but not full ballastic movements.
JJ is your shot, now and for the next 2 decades.
Bet my SB hopes on. a rookie that hasn’t completed one pass yet. I’ll have to think about that.
I don’t think I could resist that if I was in Kwesi’s shoes.
If this was last year, I’d do it for sure, but I hate to sit on JJ’s rookie contract as it dwindles away.
KO and Kwesi must REALLY love JJ.
Not for me – but that’s because I h8 the narcissistic phuckwad.
I get that. I probably agree, too.
At 10 mill you have to pull the trigger…JJ will understand.
He’d be a nice option to come off the bench after JJ gets the Vikings up by 3 TDs.
“Just hand it off, Aaron. No! No audibles. Period!”
Okay…but he’s QB3 and inactive every game day and only runs the scout team/practice squad.
5 Canadian teams in the 16 team NHL playoffs. After round 1 can have as many as 4 or few as 1 left.
Will the Wild trounce the Golden Knights?
Does hockey have a tournament all year long?
It seems like the NHL playoffs already happened this winter.
It’s ridiculous, season started something like October 7th, and remember game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals was June 24th in sunny Florida.
That’s insane.
The ‘25-26 regular season started last week.
Justin Thomas shot 10 under par today, and MISSED a 5 foot birdie putt on the last hole. Amazing round. Where was that last week?
I do that once in a while but usually try to forget the five footer.
He also had a bogey by missing a 3 footer for par. Sank 3 birdie putts that were over 30 feet, with one from over 37 feet. He seems to routinely miss short putts though, and had two of them today, else he would have shot 59.
I miss those 5 footers, usually when I’m trying to putt through that little hole under the windmill.
I aim for a blade, my best chance of getting thru.
LOL, yup.
Just take a wedge and pitch it over.
Decent field for a post Masters.
It is, actually. Good point.
I haven’t been able to participate very much this week but when I have read through the comments, I have been much distressed by a few occurrences.
Mjolnir: I hope everything is going ok with you. We are here for you.
MT: As you know I’m not a dog person, but I am sad to hear that you lost a friend.
Carry on.
any words for me???
What happened to you? Did I miss something? I was on your side on the homeschooling thing.
nothing happened to me, i just like it when you include me in things other people are included in.

Thanks VP. I go quickly from “I’ll never get another dog, I can’t go through that heartache again, to…wonder if there are any Lab breeders having litters in the area.”
Or…and hear me out…
No rescues in the area??????? Come on, man!
This guy is great and his dogs are awesome.

“TE is a position we will address”. My gut feeling is falling into place. Flo will have the defense holding teams to under 15 and the offense is going to average 35 with all the weapons they’re going to have.
Also, check out that hat.
I like that
looks like me while i draft superbowl winning teams with my mocks
Haha defense under 15 I wish
it’s easy to do when you sack the qb 12 times a game
@oh you’re talking about the game we play Cousins@
he’s gonna be a viking so that will be awkward
Bring Griffen back, Taylor or Loveland with the first pick. DL and OL middle of the draft and maybe a flyer on a RB.
Ramsey possibly
Yeah, or that Charger dude.
Charger dude for sure. I bet theres a deal in place already and he will be a Vikings 24 Hrs after the draft ends.
charger dude? asante samuel jr? HE HAS A NAME!!!!!
#sayhisname
Just not three times.
Kodiak!
Kodiak!
Kod…
Boom, draft of the year, just for you DE….
Why didn’t you trade Hock for additional picks to use on TEs?
Yeah, you probably could have picked up two more TEs by trading Hock.
These kind of mistakes is why Speilman only lasted 16 years with the Vikes…
Or Addison for a 7th next year?!
Contract kinda makes that impossible.
Would incur ~$28 million in dead cap if we moved him this season, have to wait until next season.
I think it would be lower in a trade since there isn’t a lot of prorated signing bonus but I don’t have it open anymore.
Still $17 million in dead cap w/trade, more than his salary
Sounds about right. It gets better next year though so that’s why my plan is to draft one this year, have a stud duo and go from there. Keep as is or restructure next year or have the freedom to trade him if somebody will give you a decent value.
Yep, next year is easier to cut him, but still a pretty hefty dead cap hit. Hopefully a trade, difficult with his cap hits.
Taylor at 36 would be amazing.
Not bad.
Now list all of the UDFA TE’s available.
Maybe BFlo wasn’t the problem in Miami?
He wasn’t. I’ll never really put weight into players ripping on a coach for “being mean” to player/players if he produces results else where, especially at a high level and is respected by other coordinators. At that point i’d say the issue is with the player. You can be an ass if you know what you’re doing. Its the morons that are also ass holes, well thats a problem.
You just hurt my feelings. Meanie!
Theres room for one more Philip
Throuple!
Who knows and I pay very little attention to the Dolphins. But I live in Florida and once in a while talk some the Dolphin fans. Most all do not say good things about him and are glad he’s gone. But fans can be fickle, especially when you’re losing.
Fans dont know jack whats going on in the locker room. They like Tuah and Tuah said Flores was mean to him so thats how they perceive Flores to be. Trust but verify. All the Vikes players love him as far as I can tell.
Well true, most of the opinions are driven by the thought that Flores was well on the way of destroying Tua. And that in press interviews he blamed his coordinators for losses and never took responsibility himself.
And I did say fans are fickle and fully aware fans don’t really know jack.
I was merely offering local info that might not be available in ND or thereabouts.
Sort of like I come here to listen to Vikings fans since I live far away.
Probably not.
But Head Coach versus DC is a different job.
Correct – world of difference.
These are words of wisdom.
Bow:
In the last mock draft I did the Michigan and LSU TEs went like this…
Loveland at Pick 27
Taylor at Pick 51.
So Vikes could maybe get Loveland at 24.
Ok. Help me out.
Why are you, Bow and Freezey mock drafting tight ends?
Is Hock toast?
I just think Hock makes too much money for his production. Kirk got him paid. Then he got hurt and never really found a niche with Darnold.
I am open to the idea he would work with JJ for now. Then he maybe becomes sort of irrelevant anyway. Hock will basically age-out at the beginning of our run, which I project to hopefully be 2027-2029.
Maybe it can start in 2026 if JJ is the real deal, though.
Ok. .
Everything you said looks 100% accurate.
Another fun question is what will Jefferson be in 2027-2029 talent-wise?
Maybe his contract will be a bargain by then, though.
Hock is only 27. Had 455 yards in about a half season.
In 2026 and 2027, he’ll be 29 and 30 and have cap hits of about $21 million and $23 million dollars. It may be somewhat of a luxury pick, but what other position on the team would realistically contribute more than a kid that can walk in and be a dynamic TE2?
Plus you then have real depth at the position should Hock get hurt again.
26 and 27 look a tad nasty. Hock makes tightly contested grabs. Great hands. Not sure what i think of Oliver.
Most of the 26 and 27 cap hit is base salary, so it could be restructured, but having a guy in line to take over the position if Hock goes downhill or doesn’t want to restructure seems prudent to me and without any glaring weakness, I like the idea of being able to go 12 personnel with Hock and one of these 2 guys. Mason or Jones in the backfield, Jets and Addison out wide plus two legit receiving threats at TE? Nobody is stopping that.
I mean, OL depth would be nice to get in the draft and interior DL, but it sounds like there are a lot of college tackles/NFL guards available later in the draft.
I think an improved offensive line makes Oliver expendable. He was brought in as a blocking tight end to improve the run game. He’s really expensive for a 2 TE run formation player at this point.
I think there’s only two TEs on the roster, and as Wren said, Hock is getting old and high paid. I think both of these guys could be really good. For one or two years have two TEs like the Patriots did with Gronk and Hernandez and trade Hock eventually. CB, guard, and WR are about the only spots I could see any rookie contending for playing time, much less starting. WR would mainly be as WR3 unless Addison is suspended. Guard, maybe. CB, I think they are pretty high on Blackmon and Murph will be starting so any corner drafted is likely at best CB3. Drafting a safety is mostly to take over for Hitman in the future, so take one later or next year. It sounds like there should be some good guard prospects in the 3-4 rounds. Just something I’ve been thinking about and Wren was nice enough to look for me since I don’t do mocks. I’ve seen mocks on the tv that have both of those guys going as high as around pick 10 so I would not be mad if they were able to get one of them at 24.
I was thinking it was some sort of fetish for you guys….
Okay, she might be worth Hock’s contract. I am willing to listen…
Oh my
Isn’t this supposed to be saved for Skoloholics After Dark?
Looks like bait by the FBI for the pedos.
Hate to say this, but that chick looks a lot like my daughter…
Eek, that sucks.
Yeah… awkward…
Wow, you must hot!
Or is that the wrong conclusion to draw from this…?
I only reproduce with hot women…
Adoption…
I’m so old that I want that young lady to put something on. She might catch a cold.

I can totally understand the logic of a one-off with Rodgers. The table could theoretically be set for such a thing.
Where it breaks down is that Rodgers could very well be cooked at this stage.
I dont like the idea of him coming in as the primary starter. A back up or hold over if JJ shows hes not quite ready, sure.
He could maybe be someone’s savior if a playoff team has a starter go down in-season.
Like the always .500 Steelers?
I think it is time for Tomlin to move on there. He has become the Rick Spielman of coaches.
But I am generally pretty quick to cut cords on coaches and GMs. I like the if-they-haven’t-make-it-in-five-years-move-on principle.
Not like his GM has helped him out at all. Going .500 or better with some of the rosters he’s had is pretty impressive. Plus, the Steelers are not a team that moves on from coaches. They’ve only had like 4 head coaches in the history of the team or something ridiculously low.
They have had 3 in the Superb owl era. Knoll, Cower and Tomlin.
Kirks dream job for his next team to retire with.
Oh man, I never looked at it that way. Kirk and Tomlin are made for each other. It has to happen!
His personality will mesh perfectly with DK and Pickens.
I want this to happen. I wanted him to go to the Browns but Steelers are the next best thing. Or riding the pine in Atlanta. All good/ entertaining options for him to be in QB purgatory. Payback for us Vikings fans.
First, Rogers ‘was’ one of the most talented QB’s ever, Last year, for the first couple of months he looked some cooked. But by the end of the season, his leg seemed to fully heal and he started to look a lot like his old self – last month was pretty impressive.
He’s surely got head baggage, but when healthy he can play the position and be a big help to many teams.
I did not watch much of him last season. I kind of hope he still has some gas in the tank. I enjoy having Rodgers in the league. He’s a douche, but it is like he is our douche. It makes games more fun to have a rival.
Now we got…Love. That is nowhere near as much fun.
Results from the pinewood races last night were mixed.
My car took 2nd in the adult class, the wife was 4th.
Kiddos car had a small issue and flew off the track in his first heat. Fixed the issue and ran it again afterward and it was faster than mine. So it would’ve been one of the top 2 overall. Felt bad for the kiddo but he was still excited about his spectacular crash.
Who doesn’t like a good crash? Only thing that makes NASCAR exciting. They should have demo derby races where after a certain amount of laps the gloves come off and you can free for all smash into each other. Would it be dangerous? Absolutely. Would there be people that wanted to do it, also yes.
Women can’t drive something something… I keed I keed!

Skolholics After Dark(c)!!
The Vikings agreed to terms with Aaron Rodgers? Yes I looked your comments above… must be clickbait.
