Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
A billion thank-you’s to Surly and anyone else who helped keep things going the past few days. I was having some health issues that seem to finally be over. I was in bed for over 30 hours straight, laid down in bed last Wednesday night and didn’t get out of bed until Friday morning.
The doc said it appeared to be cluster headaches (kinda’ like migraines, only worse), although those are rare. I want to avoid any narcotic meds, so managed with Ibuprofin and Imatrex when they were necessary. I haven’t taken anything for the past 2-3 days now, so hopefully it’s all over. My wife was pretty concerned, I normally don’t sit still unless I’m sleeping, so me being mostly still and quiet for days at a time was something she hadn’t seen me do in the ~15 years we’ve been together. It wasn’t a fun time. The headaches finally subsided a bit a couple days ago, and I finally started feeling somewhat normal. Yuck, I blame Ponder.
Vikings and NFL News
The Vikings hired an assistant offensive line coach and promoted another assistant to tight ends coach, from Vikings.com. Also, the NFL’s franchise tag window is now open until March 3. I don’t see the Vikings using this on anyone this year.
I love seeing this stuff, also from Vikings.com. Vikings players hosted Valentine’s Day parties for patients at 3 Children’s Hospitals.
From Yahoo Sports, the Dolphins are to release WR Tyreek Hill, who just may be a Vikings fan.
At CBS Sports, Pete Prisco lists his top 100 NFL free agents for 2026. Also from CBS Sports, the Seahawks are up for sale! If anyone has an extra billion dollars or two that you don’t know what to do with, and you like rain, this may be an opportunity for you. Smart move by the sellers, it’s best to sell high, and the team is only a couple weeks removed from winning it all.
ESPN lists 32 candidates to get cut, traded, and passed over this NFL offseason.

Media Selection
An 85 year-old grandma was handcuffed to a chair then shot by an intruder, but she still managed to shoot and kill the intruder, then waited until her son woke up the next morning so she could call the police (not sure how he slept through gunshots in the house, but whatever). Turns out the lady was an olympic shooter in her younger days, or something like that. Seriously, this is a crazy story.

No more Chicago Bears. They are now the Northern Indiana Bears.
Saw some reports that they were moving their stadium to Indiana, but didn’t think things like that happened overnight. Would have thought it would take a few years to make a deal like that go.
They’ve been working on it for a few years, and I think Chicago/Illinois said there would be no help or relief and Indiana has offered tax breaks/credits. The new stadium won’t be up for a few years, but it sounds like the ball is in motion.
Roger… I was born in Belleville Illinois. So in a way, it’s my “home” State. Left when I was 5 years old though. Still it pains me to see how bad it has gotten there.
The government of Indiana should force them to change their name. Same goes for the New Jersey Giants and Jets.

I honestly don’t even know who Anthony Richardson is, and I’m not going to Google him either. That’s not a good QB name.
Played at U of Florida, 4th overall pick in 2023. One of only 3 Drafted QBs to ever achieve a perfect RAS score. Oft injured and not very successful with the Colts but had some moments.

Sorry to hear about your illness GF. Sounds like a very debilitating time you went through. My wife and I are fighting colds. Mine started a week ago, and this morning I feel the best I have in the last 7 days. Still lingering symptoms and weakness, but feeling much better. My wife is still down for the count on the couch. Living on Dayquil and Nyquil as I was for several days.
As to the Anthony Richardson trade post, that’s a big leap of faith in my opinion. Too many concerns to risk bringing him in.
He can’t stay healthy, and he isn’t a good thrower of the football….NO THANK you.
GF, sorry to hear about your health issues. Does it have anything to do with your neck? IIRC you had mentioned you were having neck issues.
I would be willing to post threads, but it will have to wait, as I am going under the knife in a couple of weeks to have a couple of vertebrae fused in my neck.
I think it has to do with thinking about things like the Vikings trading for Anthony Richarson. Just seeing that post gave me a headache.

I wouldn’t mind seeing if we could snag Justin Fields on the cheap. We need to get someone on a cheap deal and not risk trading draft capital.
Yeah… no. Justin Fields has a career completion rate of 61.4% and career passer rating of 84.7, and has 52 TD’s and 32 interceptions in 59 games. He is a really good athlete, not a really good QB. The league has been doing this for years. Drafting great athletes as their QB, who can’t play the position at the NFL level.
I agree but he does have experience. Maybe KOC could make him into a game manager…
I don’t think Fields can really run KOC’s pass heavy scheme. His offense is dependent on a good QB with a good arm.
His opponent for this Saturday nights fight is Anthony Hernandez. AH brought this up when speaking the other day and said instead of trying to beat him right away, he will “torture” him for a while first. I hope he kicks Stricklands ass!

I do not care for his music, so I really thought the halftime show sucked. If he had sung in English part of the time it would not have mattered much for me. Just not my thing.

I love all kinds of music but don’t follow his or that brand of music. My go to is classic rock/80s hairbands, but I can enjoy all genres. Life would suck without music. He is a good actor, watch the movie Bullettrain sometime. It’s a good one, action packed and he has a small role as an assassin in it.
I wonder how he really feels about it?

I would argue we had three. Wentz relied on his mobility as well, and never became an elite passer.
