Vikings Discussion and Random Thoughts
We had another game with kiddo’s baseball team last night. They had another awesome game & won 6-2. Kiddo got hit by a pitch, scored a run and played great in the field. The kids have done an amazing job of listening to their coaches, we tell them something new to work on every week, and we haven’t had to ask them to do anything more than once. Such a great group of kids this year, we’re having a ton of fun.
Note the picture at the top, I bought that last night and will be putting it on the boat today. It’s another 90 horse Mercury like I have now, it’s just newer, so I SHOULD be able to use the same controls and all of that. Hopefully we’ll have it running by this weekend so we can get out on the river. Fishing buddy said that they’re biting south of here down by the SD border, and kiddo and I plan to go find out for ourselves.
I’m looking forward to Vikings training camp. We’re planning to get out there for at least a day or two, and will provide some insight while we’re there. We’re also getting close to having our new podcast studio ready, so will be able to put up some content regularly soon. Also, at long last, we have the items ready for everyone who participated in our fantasy league last year (so sorry it took so long, life is busy as hell sometimes and I’m scatterbrained all the time).
Vikings News
Great interview with Aaron Jones on the Colin Cowherd YouTube channel. I like Jones even more after watching this. I didn’t know that both of his parents were retired military.
From Vikings.com, Moss, JJ (Jefferson), Hutchinson, & Jared Allen landed on ESPN’s ultimate 53 since 2000.

A list of each NFL team’s free agency additoins and departures from NFL.com.
CBS Sports lists the biggest red flags for 2025 NFL contenders. The Vikings and J.J. McCarthy made the list. It’s nice to see that they’re considered contenders, I suppose.

This is pretty cool, thought some of my fellow DIYers on here might enjoy it.
Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.
- Twitter sized version: Be cool to one another.
Have to say, the Dem’s can rally around a buzzword like nobody’s business. I have seen the term xenophobia or xenophobic today in articles about a dozen times. Bet they don’t even know what it means.
Isn’t it one of these?
Think my mom had one back in the early 70s.
Laughing. My wife played one of those in her high school band.
Mom had a smaller version than this.
She also played the piano and something called the AutoHarp.
She couldn’t get any of us to play, once my sister was forced to practice the rest of us made sure we really sucked at music.
It’s that thing on the right.
That’s John Sebastian on the autoharp, with the Lovin Spoonful… in case anyone was wondering.
All that matters is that it is really bad and all R’s are xeno’s.
That is the depth of their knowledge.

NY, San Fran/Chi 2.0. NY will be vacated. These idiots that vote for these morons think they will never run out of other peoples money. Almost laughable if not sad.
Yeah. Not sure why anybody would vote for this stuff. It’s mind boggling.
Keep it going Trump. Some NFL person said the best defense is a good offense.
The NFL is suspending Justin Tucker for the first 10 weeks of the regular season for violating the leagues personal conduct policy.
To my knowledge Tucker has never been convicted of anything.
Thought allegations, didn’t think NFL can do anything. He was cut, maybe that’s different.
It doesn’t apply to just legal rulings.
You don’t have to be convicted of anything.
It’s an employment requirement.
If I violate my employers work policy, I can be suspended, even if I haven’t committed a crime.
So I can hire a couple women to go accuse McCarthy of sexual misconduct, and the NFL will be compelled to suspend him?
If the NFL believes the accusations, yep.
Then every player in the NFL is at a terrible extortion risk. It’s better to pay the accusers off, than get suspended by a league who will suspend you on hearsay.
Apparently, Tucker agreed to the suspension.
Im not a fan of the source, but Florio is a legal guy.

Kind of surprised Jeff Kruse still has a job right now.
Was wondering the same thing?
Air Force three star who runs DIA. Brilliant guy, with long experience in intelligence. Met him in 2015 I think, during Inherent Resolve. Why he has not come out and told the truth to the American people about his Agency’s report cited by CNN and the NYT, is a little baffling to me. He works directly for the SECDEF. How a top secret report from his Agency got leaked to these two news organizations is something he must answer.
He is probably making sure it was no-one in his agency.
Then they can concentrate on Capital Hill and find the aid that wanted to ‘help the resistance’.
TDS is the hell of a drug.
I think if I was in charge of DIA, I would have coordinated with the SECDEF and provided a statement by now. His silence is bothering me a little bit.
At this point don’t you think he is working with SECDEF and will speak when and what he is told to say.
Hegseth’s first call would have been to Kruse, demanding an explanation. So “working with the SECDEF” absolutely occurred. Since we have heard nothing from DIA, it’s my feeling that Hegseth is not happy with them.
Hegseth will fire him in a heartbeat if the situation calls for it.
I’m not sure who had access to this info, but if Congress had it, wold beat it’s a Hill Staffer.
Agreed.
Well, the statement should suit the circumstances. He would know quickly who sent the report out from the Agency. He would normally have had to approve anything coming out of the Agency that sensitive. Top Secret reports have a very disciplined release authority process.
Within minutes if not immediately he would be able to tell Hegseth whether he or his CoS authorized this release. If they didn’t then we have a problem inside DIA. If they approved the release, who did they release it to? This is not rocket surgery.
Finally, releasing preliminary reports is against every protocol I ever observed.
And now I am on board with the take that the Iran bombing was a success. I always thought that Iran’s capability for nukes was likely decimated, but wasn’t 100% sure that the nuclear material was impacted.
Still not sure what nuke material Iran has left, but the bombing was effective.
Add to that, Iran and Israel haven’t launched bombs for a couple of days, which signals to me that Iran has basically cried “uncle”.
Good job President Trump.
********************************************
CNN and the NYT claiming that the attacks did not destroy the targets caused the entire world to wonder. That is unforgivable. We get they are anti Trump, but they went way out of their way to try and discredit him. Why is it that we have no recourse when such blatant lies are pushed out by the leftist media? Biden is fine, there’s no problem at the border, the “Maryland Man” is a victim. It’s galling.
It wasn’t that long ago that politics stopped at our coastlines. Foreign affairs were reserved for true patriotism and an infusion of politics was deeply frowned upon by both parties.
We seem to have gotten very f’d up very quickly.
Oh, Iran didn’t cry uncle. They claimed they won. Lol
https://notthebee.com/article/irans-ayatollah-claims-victory-in-israel-us-conflict
Yeah, and it sucks they have the ability to completely control the messaging to their masses. You know, like Biden wanted to do. He wanted to control “misinformation” to the populace. Yeah, misinformation like “Joe is sharp as a tack”!
https://babylonbee.com/news/ayatollah-claims-victory-after-destroying-14-bunker-buster-bombs-with-their-nuclear-facilities
Laughing… look what I did to your fist with my face!
Even they have to play politics.
Iran has cried uncle by their actions. Their words are only meant for the Iranian people and state run media throughout the world. Including the US media.
By no means do I think the Israel and Iran fighting is over.
They will always be fighting. The Arab world refuses to allow Israel the right to exist. I doubt that changes.
DE, we know Iran is not part of the Arab world. They are joined at the hip by their religious beliefs, and that’s all. The Arab world is getting closer and closer to accepting Israel. Trump’s meetings with all the Arab Nation leaders, has moved that agenda forward pretty far.
Iran is becoming ever more isolated in the Islamic world. The Arab Nations hate Iran. That fact alone gives the world some hope in the future.
Going to rent an engine hoist so I can go get the boat motor. Never taken off a boat motor before, can’t be too hard. I have to figure out how to bleed the hydraulic system before I disconnect the hydraulic hose, anyone have any suggestions? I assume there’s a bleed valve on the bottom of the pump.
I suggest just taking it to Freezey.
Always a solid choice.
What’s a hydraulic system? It sounds like magic.
Zactly!
I helped a guy bleed his steering rig on his boat a long time ago (20 years or more). It took both of us. I held a plastic reservoir of hydraulic fluid and turned the wheel while he manipulated the bleeder valves on the steering cylinder. That’s all I know.
hydraulic fluid, bleeder valves, steering cylinder….please speak English when commenting on this post.
If all else fails, buy the whole boat.
You can’t just work the hydraulics with the engine off? That’s how you do it on farm implements.
BTW, you’ll need a bleeder kit with a plastic hose and a container to drain the fluid into. Attach the plastic hose to the bleeder valve, and open it. Then turn the steering wheel in the direction of that particular valve (there are two, one for clockwise, and one for counterclockwise turning of the steering wheel). Then close the valve, detach the hose, connect it to the other valve, and open that valve. Then turn the steering wheel the other way. I think you’ll need a second set of hands.
Man, Trump sure is an idiot.
Stock market back to record highs.
He doesn’t know what he is doing.
Destroyed Iran’s ability to make nukes (something every president has said needed to be done), and int he process got two bitter enemies to agree to a ceasefire.
Man, what a weak dope.
Oh, and got NATO allies to foot more of the bill for their own defense.
Except for Stupid Spain, staying at 2% while the rest move to 5%.
So it’s optional? And if a country doesn’t want to pay its share, that’s OK and no consequences.
Since they were neutral in WWII, I guess I thought Spain was not a member of NATO until today.
Trumper says its fine, we will just get it out of trade agreements with Spain, they will pay one way or the other.
I would think that defending them can be ‘optional’ when it came to the ‘an attack is an attack on all’ portion of the NATO agreement.
According to CNN and the NYT he didn’t destroy their capability or set it back much.
And they know that because their TDS tells them so.
I believe that worst case they were set back only a few years.
Best case is a few decades while they rebuild everything.
CNN molests collies
Hope he keeps doing what he doesn’t know what he is doing.
Well Plaid.
@ He sucks, cut him @
Some tried.
They failed.
How many guards have we played since 2018? I’ll see how many I can name…
Nick Easton, Tom Compton, Mike Remmers, Danny Isidora, Pat Elflein, Josh Kline, Brett Jones, Dru Samia, Dakota Dozier, Ezra Cleveland, Oli Udoh, Wyatt Davis, Ed Ingram, Kyle Hinton, Chris Reed, Austin Schlottmann, Dalton Risner, and Blake Brandel.
Sooo… have we finally found a set of guards that can block for the RB’s and protect the QB?
If they stay healthy, I say yes.
Also, we have a decent center for a change, and that should make both guards have an easier time of it.
I agree. I don’t know on average, where our interior line ranked over the last seven seasons, but I’d say not very high. Last year, they were decent. Maybe the best of the last seven seasons. I have some confidence they will be very good this year.
Shit
Laughing… indeed GF, indeed.
Does take a while for a good line to gel.
It does, especially when you have weak players being changed in and out every year.
as per tradition, the wife and i start watching the Band of Brothers series on D-day every year. we’ve done this for the last 5 or 6 years. and then we slowly work our way through the series.
the last 2 nights we have watched the Bastogne, battle of the bulge and the taking of the town of Foy episodes. and even though i have seen them multiple times, and even though it’s a “depiction” of how things really were, i think it has to be one of the most accurate depictions of what those men went through. holy smokes.
Lt Ronald Spiers was a one bad mother. what a stud
Just rewatched the series a few weeks ago. So well done.
I’ve still never watched that series. I will get to it someday. I have the collection. I’ve just never got to it.
Seems like something to do this winter.
this lowkey blows my mind….
watch it you, numbskull
I am in the same boat. Never watched it. Also never completed Saving Private Ryan.
I like fake entertainment more than realistic entertainment. I will watch it someday
Band of Brothers isn’t as intense as Saving Private Ryan. It’s a good story and put together very well. Quite captivating.
good to know. Thanks!
I still cannot watch shows like ER or any hospital show where kids are in pain. I’d rather watch John Wick kill a bazillion bad guys.
Another good WW1 movie is 1917. It seems pretty realistic, it follows a couple of English soldiers trying to deliver orders to another division across some territory that was vacated, and uses very long footage shots with few cuts in it so you feel like you are right there with them.
yes, good movie
That opening scene from Saving Private Ryan (D-Day landing and assault) is very intense.
It is.
I assume pretty realistic.
That’s why I like it.
About as real as it gets (or was).
I will get to it.
If my wife’s mom comes to visit, that would be a good escape hatch!
A great series to watch. I always stop to watch a few minutes when I am surfing through channels.
Regarding the video up top….So why do I need to waterproof my tires?
That part makes no sense to me, either. The mixture could be quite useful in many ways, though.
Thank you. I thought I was going crazy for a second. Never heard of that before.
ah, isn’t rubber waterproof?🤔
Right?
Happy Thorsday!
Good morning, SKOL!
FTP!
FTP Auto Rec.
I see AP didn’t make the ultimate 53 since 2000. I am okay with that.
I got in a little debate about AP with a Vikings fan the other day. They were of the opinion is the the all-time greatest RB ever.
I’m of the opinion that the only ones who still talk about him are Vikings fans. Everyone else is rapidly forgetting all about him.
AP was a great runner, but he could not block and his ball catching skills were weak. The “fumblitis” killed many drives. He was not in the league of Barry Sanders or Walter Payton, in my opinion.
That’s where I fall, too.
Physical beast in his prime, certainly.
It also seemed like he got in the habit of playing Dance Dance Revolution behind the line after 2012 instead of just hitting the hole.
i appreciate you guys trying to conjure the ghost of stuman55 with these posts.
keep it up!
Chuck Foreman and Robert Smith were both more complete RBs in my opinion.
I am told I am wrong a lot.
Agreed
Agreed that Chuck and Robert were more complete, or agreed that Surly is told he is wrong a lot, or both?
Yep, both. Lol
Chester Taylor is under-appreciated, too. Dude could do it all; run, block, catch the ball, etc.
Robert Smith on the 2009 = Super Bowl.
He would have feasted on screens from Favre.
all 3 were very different types of backs. Smith was great at catching the ball out of the backfield. I always saw Foreman as reliable and good for 25 tough carries s game to get his 100 yards. AP was explosive and a threat to go all the way whenever he touched the ball
He is one of the best of all time. People are dismissive because of his off-the-field stuff, but I don’t care about that, dude was a machine.
agreed.
